January FET

🤣 I’ve started a few of the past few months FET thread.
I figured some people might be out there gearing up so we might as well have a place to chat 😃.

I start letrazole on friday, we are doing a natural/medicated cycle with letrazole, trigger shot, and the pio injections.
I am calculating that my transfer will be between 1/6-1/8

Re: January FET

  • My next FET isn’t until late January or early February, but I wanted to wish you good luck! I’m rooting for you!

  • Today was my last day on birth control. I have an appointment on the 26th, we are doing a natural fet protocol so not too sure what to expect. My doctor has not given me a transfer date yet since the transfer will be based off when I ovulate. We had two previous medicated cycles that ended in miscarriages at 9 weeks. Due to recurrent miscarriages we unthawed our embryos to PGD test them. We ended up with 5 normal and did a third transfer in September with a PGD normal embryo, but that resulted in a blighted ovum. I am hoping that the change in protocol will result in a healthy baby. Good luck ladies! May January 2020 be kind to all of us
  • Im in.

    Re-introduction; Me(34), H(38). TTC#1 since 7/2018, never BFP
Dx; Bilateral tubal factor, PCOS (BMI 22 so "lean"), bad fert rate w IVF#1 (2/41 bleh)
IVF#1 8/2019, fresh transfer of 2 day 3 embryos, BFN. Nothing to freeze
    IVF#2 11/2019, 13 frozen blasts (ICSI>>>>>conventional IVF), not testing

Currently waiting on AF to begin my first FET. CD 30 today but finally had EWCM and +OPK yesterday so there may be an end in sight for this cycle. Stupid PCOS.

Plan is for January artificial FET cycle with Estrace 2mg BID, IM progesterone.

    So. Much. Waiting.

    Happy Holidays all!

  • @vetgirl2011 thank you!!! Im hoping this cycle works. I found out my clinic quit utilizing medrol/prednisone sometime last year after i got pregnant with my son. (They said research has shown that it doesnt help and actually changes the bacteria in there) but convinced my RE to let me take it because i was taking it with my successful transfer.. im hoping it makes the difference.

im hoping 2020 is your year too! Ill keep checking the February thread for updates 😃.

@jessica8bryant doing a natural/medicated FET made all the difference for us. Even though my blood levels seemed fine with the replacement estrace my body didnt like it and i kept having recurring chemicals/miscarriages. As a last attempt my RE had us to a natural FET using letrazole (i dont ovulate on my own die to pcos) pregnyl and PIO. We finally had a successful pregnancy with that cycle. Im will keep my fingers crossed it works for you!!!
i hate not having a calendar and scheduled Transfer date 🙁. My lining always takes a few extra days so i can guess my transfer date by 3 days though.

@lena8888 i can completely sympathize with hating pcos!!! I got diagnosed (finally!!) at 26 and immediately started ttc after going to a RE (they said it would take awhile). We did months of timed intercourse, months of IUIs, and eventually did IVF. The dr said we would be an easy case as pcos is easily overcome with ivf...

TW - We did 2 egg retrievals (might end up doing 1 more before we are done) and did 10 transfers over the course of 3.5years, had 8 losses (chemicals and mc) and it took of 5.5 years to get our miracle
  • Hi everyone! I was active earlier in 2019 (and I recognize @justharrison!) but we had to postpone our transfer to January and I decided to take a break from the boards. I go in tomorrow for a baseline ultrasounds and will hopefully start meds tomorrow if everything looks good! I'm tentatively scheduled for a transfer on Jan. 22. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better as we go through this journey.  I've got my FX that this is the month for all of us!

  • @caitb13  hey girl!!!!! I hope this is our lucky month 😃

i triggered on tuesday night and went in today to confirm ovulation. My transfer is scheduled for tuesday the 7th. Tomorrow morning starts the dreaded PIO shots 🙁

@justharrison that's so soon! Good luck with the shots today.

Edited to update: Just got a call from my RE's office - I'm good to start my meds! I'm also being started on a thyroid medication. According to the nurse I talked to my TSH is within normal levels, but higher than optimal for someone trying to achieve pregnancy.
  • @caitb13
i know! Im hoping this one works. I convinced my RE to let me take medrol so hopefully it makes a difference for me.
I would make sure to take it easy for the first few weeks taking synthroid- it made me extremely tired and i almost fell asleep driving. Ive been on it a few years now and it doesnt bother me now.

  • @JUSTHARRISON GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!! I hated doing PIO but on this protocol I will just be on suppositories. I am kinda scared but I am trusting my doctors choice. Did you do any testing?

AFM: We are transferring this SUNDAY!!! I went in for an ultrasound today and my lining is at 13 and we have a trilaminar pattern (last transfer we did not) so I am not sure if that played a role in the transfer not be successful. I am just tying to remain positive. I am really praying 2020 is all of our year!

  • Thinking of you today @justharrison!! I hope everything went smoothly!
  • @jessica8bryant we are using a untested embryo. I feel like both forms of Progesterone have their drawbacks 😕
    good luck on Sunday!!
@caitb13 thank you! Transfer was uneventful. My estrogen was low so i am having to take estrace. Im convinced this cycle wont work because all of our losses were when we did a medicated fet with estrogen supplementation. We only had success when we did a natural cycle and no estrogen supplementation.😕.
  • @justharrison I am sorry you are feeling defeated but I hope you are pleasantly surprised. When is beta and do you plan to test at home?
  • @jessica8bryant it would be awesome if it worked but for whatever reason estradiol is not compatible with me.
my beta is next Thursday but i always test early. I try to wait until 5dpt (because that is the earliest i have ever gotten a positive) but i normally give in and test 3/4dpt 🤣
  • @justharrison I am the same way but I think this time I will wait for beta. I want to enjoy it and not stress for as long as I can...we will see if I can make it tho!
  • @justharrison I'm sorry you're not feeling confident. I hope you have an unexpected surprise! I also test early. I'd much rather know ahead of time and be prepared for what's coming.
  • @jessica8bryant i normally stress myself out when i try to wait 🤣. I havent started testing yet with the cheapie ones (which is saying a pot because i normally start those at 3dpt).

@caitb13 i am going tonight to get some FRER so i can test tomorrow (5dpt) those are always my go tos but ive heard they have had some really bad indents lately but i always get false positives with blue dye tests. Im getting 6 and then i wont test anymore except with the cheapie wondfos.

I took a test this morning

I seen a second line! Its faint but no need to squint. There is color in real life but it aint showing up in the picture

  • @justharrison that is so exciting!! Congratulations!!
  • @justharrison I see it!!! So exciting!
  • Im so anxious to get my beta done i called and asked if i could push it forward a day. 😃 they agreed so i am going in Wednesday

  • @justharrison - (de-lurlking) Ooh, I see it too. Good luck on your beta!!
  • @justharrison Thinking of you today <3
  • Got my BW results
Beta came back at 80. Im cautiously optimistic. I go back friday for another check
    😃

  • Where is everyone at in their cycle? Is anyone testing soon?
  • @justharrison That is awesome! congrats!!! I have beta next Tuesday, don't think I will test at home. The tww is torture tho. The only "symptoms" I am feeling is tugging/light cramping since the day after transfer, so hopefully that's a good sign.
  • @justharrison yay! That's a great number, especially testing early.

@jessica8bryant I have my fingers crossed for you! You have a lot of patience, I definitely couldn't wait to find out.

As for me, I have a lining check on Friday and am tentatively scheduled to transfer next Wednesday. I'm getting nervous already!
  • @jessica8bryant you have such willpower!!! Ill keep my fingers crossed for you!
@caitb13 good luck tomorrow! Hopefully this is a great month for everyone!
  • @justharrison - congrats!!! that's a great first early beta, let it grow strong, and good luck with second beta!

  • Well, it looks like I'm benched until February. My lining today was only at 5.5mm and my clinic likes to see at least 7mm. I'm feeling pretty discouraged and surprised. Although I have PCOS our IVF journey is due to MFI and I've never had any issues responding to medication.  **TW** My last FET resulted in our daughter, and looking back at my protocal I was on less estrogen and my lining was measuring at 9 mm.  Anyways, I wish you all the best of luck in your journey.
  • @caitb13 , do you plan to try again right away, or can your RE do anything to investigate why the lining wasn't responding well to estrogen?
Hopefully it's just timing, maybe stress, or the weather, or just normal body fluctuations over different seasons, and then the next one goes great <3

  • @caitb13 i would try asking if you can do a natural/medicated fet. My pcos messed with me hormones so bad i always had a thin lining and even though my numbers looked good my body didnt respond well to the estrogen supplementation. My doctor (in a last ditch effort) had me do letrazole cds4-8, pregnyl trigger once i had an appropriate sized follicle and the  PIO injections. These were the only times i had the 3 lines showing of my uterus (i forgot what it is called but its the perfect thickness of your lining. that is how i got (and stayed) pregnant with my son and that was the protocol we used this month.
  • @FuzzyDust thank you! I got my second beta level back today and it is 241. Im cautiously optimistic 😃
  • @caitb13 sorry to hear about your lining. I am in the same/similar boat. My lining only measured 5mm at my first lining check two days ago. They added estrogen patches and will check again next week. TBD...

    @justharrison amazing. congratulations!!
  • Congratulations @justharrison! I'm so excited for you!

Thanks @FuzzyDust.We do plan to go right into the next cycle. I spoke with a different doctor, but she mentioned that it could just be a fluke, and possibly upping my estrogen rx. I've also asked her to revisit my old FET protocol.  At my old clinic I was taking estrogen orally instead of vaginally, and was taking daily shots of Lupron. My new doctor said the Lupron wasn't necessary, and that the estrogen absorbed better when administered vaginally, but I would be interested in returning to that protocal since it seemed to be successful.

@justharrison would you mind going into more detail about a natural/medicated cycle?

Good luck @lena8888! I hope the patches are just what you needed!
  • @caitb13
    NP!
my issue has always been i dont ovulate and my estrogen and progesterone were always low (due to pcos). My protocol was a mix between natural and medicated to ensure i ovulated when all my levels @ lining were optimal. I did 5 days of letrazole starting cd4-8 and the had repeated BW & USs until the lead follicle was 20/21mm, lining 6+, and bloodwork was normal. I would then take 1ml of Pregnyl to force ovulation, go back 48hrs later to confirm ovulation, start PIO and then do a FET 5 days later.
if there is anything i left out or you are curious about just let me know!
  • Lurking. @justharrison Congrats!!!
    Me: 41  DH: 46
Unexplained infertility/AMA, polycystic ovaries, insulin resistance
    FET#1(July 2017): eSET of first of 4 PGS-normal embryos, DS born 3/30/2018
    FET#2(Oct/Nov 2019): eSET
  • @justharrison congrats!!!
i am doing the same protocol as you minus the trigger shot and plan is to use vaginal progesterone instead of shots. I usually ovulate late around CD 17. I went in on CD 10 for my first ultrasound/bloodwork and they saw an 18mm follicle. But my estrogen is 66. They want me to come back tomorrow for bloodwork. When did you ovulate on the letrazole?
  • Hi ladies - jumping in here very late as I have a very tentative 1/31 transfer date! I am waiting for a call from my nurse about next steps. Went in this morning for a CD10 ultrasound after CD3-7 of Letrazole. Lining was only about 3mm and my largest follicle was 12mm. They are wanting to see me get at least one 20mm follicle before I trigger...I may be put on FSH for the next few days and then checked again. This is pretty much my last shot to thicken my lining because nothing else has done the trick. My nurse made the comment this morning that they are "making up this protocol as they go" but it seems encouraging to me that I see a few others here with similar plans!
    July - September 2016 - 3 negative IUIs
    December 2016 IVF cycle - 12 retrieved, 5 fertilized, 2 frozen, 1 transferred
    August 2017 - baby boy
September 2019 - FET cancelled due to thin lining (tried pills)
November 2019 - FET cancelled due to thin lining (tried patches)
    February 2020 - FET February 6, EDD 10/25/2020

  • Thank you @justharrison, that was very helpful!

  • @cashewchicken thank you!!!
@nasah15 cd18 however the follicle wasnt quite ready but my BW indicated i was about to surge and my lining was perfect so we took the chance. I didnt produce enough estrogen on my own so i am having to supplement (which makes me nervous as ive had issues with supplemental estrogen).
    @caitb13 NP! 😃
