December Symptoms

Re: December Symptoms

  • My feet are so sweaty and smelly! It makes me feel soooo gross. And it’s all. the. time. Sweaty and gross as soon as I get out of the shower! I think this is because they’re trying not to swell but 🤢 I’m grossing myself out.

  • Okay, so spoiler for way TMI (discharge)

I just went to the bathroom and when I wiped afterwards, a HUGE mucusy glob came out on the toilet paper.  Like, way bigger than the little bits of mucus I've seen occasionally so far.  It reminded me a lot of when I lost my mucus plug before going into labor with my first pregnancy, except it didn't have ny blood tinge to it.  I have a call into my doctor and waiting to hear back, but just trying not to freak out or look at Dr. Google too much.  No cramps or anything else.  Just a really massively giant mucus glob that literally made me say "What the f*ck is that" out loud in the bathroom.

  • So I had some spotting on Saturday (at 17/18 weeks). Not a ton- only on toilet paper. This is actually normal for me- I had spotting in second trimester in my first and second pregnancies as well. So I’m not worried. I did of course get worried and speak to my ob the first time around, but he was not at all concerned since heartrate and growth were normal and I wasn’t having rhythmic cramping.

But it just thought I’d mention in case it happens to anyone else- spotting can happen and it’s not a reason to panic.

  • @shamrocandroll No personal experience, but I've heard of people losing part or most of their mucus plug and it regenerating. Hopefully all is well. Keep us updated.
  • @shamrocandroll I'm sure you already thought about this, but did you have sex today or yesterday? I had so much discharge at the end of the first trimester into the second and my doctor wasn't concerned at all. Maybe like others it is part of the mucus plug, which should grow back.

@brettanomyces Sorry about the spotting. I know even if everything is fine, spotting can still be worrisome.

  • I'm at the doctor now.

@m6agua not since Saturday night, but this was a really big, mucusy blob, and not stringy like most of my CM. Like, alarmingly big. And now I'm having some light cramps. So just waiting to be seen now.

  • @shamrocandroll thinking of you.  I hope the doctor has answers!
  • @shamrocandroll Sending hugs and feeling stressed on your behalf. I hope everything is fine.❤

@pirateduck I hope you get great news today. ❤
  • @sunshinesea22 I took zantac as recommended by my midwife but I guess that's a no no now.

    @shamrocandroll
I hope your appointment tells you there is nothing to worry about. Please keep us updated. Like others have said I haven't had any experience with a mucus plug (scheduled c-section) but I've heard others have lost theirs in the second pregnancy early and are told it regenerates.
  • @shamrocandroll thinking good thoughts for you today. I hope it's nothing!
  • @shamrocandroll I had that happen after DTD when I was pregnant with DS1. It ended up being my plug and it did regrow because I lost it again a week before I went into labor. Fingers crossed for good news!
  • @shamrocandroll So very glad everything is ok!
  • @shamrocandroll yay! what a relief. and so glad they made you feel that you did the right thing and didn't rush you through.

  • @jhysmath I also used to take Zantac prior to the recall. My OB just said to switch to Pepcid, so that’s what I do now. They’re the same class of medication, just no contamination concerns with Pepcid
  • 2nd trimester vomit anyone?

In the first trimester I didn’t really get morning sickness, just some indigestion. I threw up 3 times and I attributed all of them to my gag reflux. Well now, I’m making Cajun chicken for dinner. The seasoning is mild but still really strong and I had to run straight to the toilet. At 20 weeks + 4 days, I thought I was passed this... 😓

  • @drkoyya I'm almost 19 weeks and have thrown up at least once a day since 6 weeks. I keep waiting for morning sickness to subside, but it just keeps on.
  • @drkoyya I did not throw up until the second tri
  • I have the worst post nasal drip it’s driving me crazy. I couldn’t sleep at all last night and my throat is killing me. Gargling with salt water isn’t going to cut it - I miss NyQuil 😣
  • Oh man, I read an article about choleostasis earlier today, and now my hands wont stop itching. I hate the power of suggestion, my anxiety doesn't need this.
  • @heatherlynn321 I don’t know what that is, but maybe I shouldn’t google it since I’m about to go to bed!  :D
  • @pirateduck I didn't even know about it till I read an article in my 2nd pregnancy, don't look it up.
  • I noticed my first stretch marks this morning. That's always a milestone. Does anyone have creams they like for this?

My biggest struggle right now though seems to be the heartburn. I feel it immediately after I eat anything at all, even an energy bar or a banana. It makes me feel nervous that if my stomach is running out of space halfway through the pregnancy, what is the second half going to be like?
  • @allie456 I'm using Burt's Bees Belly Butter. It's not too strong smelling and doesn't leave a greasy feeling, seemed to have good reviews. I also tried Bio-Oil because it was on a lot of lists but found it to be too greasy for me.

  • @allie456 I am with you on the feeling like heartburn is due to the stomach running out of space, I have been doing smaller amounts, so like half a banana wait five or so minutes and eat the rest, it seems to help some.
  • I would be thrilled if my head didn’t hurt nearly every day.
  • I've also been having headaches a lot😩 it sucks because I am trying to avoid taking tylenol too often. Heartburn seems to hit me every single night when I lay down.
  • @randic22 yes, I am also trying not to take Tylenol too much.  I don’t want to take it every day, I don’t want to take too many doses in a day.  I find it’s not very effective anyway so I tend to wait until things get pretty bad before taking any.  Fun times.
  • @pirateduck how much caffeine are you having? If none, I've found that I can kill a headache with some caffeine, but it only works if I'm not regularly caffeinating.

  • @Austenista I agree.  I’m off the caffeine, but when my head won’t quit I’ll sometimes have a soda and it helps.  Something about the caffeine plus high fructose corn syrup.  If nothing else it helps a little mentally.
  • @allie456 I agree with Burt's Bees. I'm prone to stretch marks and have been using them since 13 weeks. So far so great. I noticed stretch marks around my belly button and use it after a shower and the marks have stopped growing. I would advice using it everywhere. I was neglecting my love handles and now stretch marks are creeping in there.

I've also been suffering from heartburn and indigestion. My doctor prescribed Pepcid and it has helped out a lot-- it hasn't gone away completely but it's definitely better.

  • @allie456 On the stretch mark front, you’re going to get them if it’s in your genetics, so there’s that. Staying hydrated helps a lot and I personally like to use vitamin e oil and then layer lotion over it. Helps cut down with the greasy feel. I have a lot of them from previous pregnancies and they do fade a lot over time. After pregnancy I like to start using mederma on them.
  • I am in the stomach issue bandwagon...heartburn if I lay on my right (?) and also some constipation which had lead to maybe hemorrhoids (😭😢☹️) freaked me out yesterday!

  • @babyfoxden10 ask your doc if you can use Flonase or Afrin for post nasal drip. Mine gave me the ok says totally safe.

@drkoyya and @heatherlynn321 my doc put me on phenergan in second trimester and it is life changing for nausea/vomiting! Babies systems are formed by now so they said no risk. It also has a rep for making people drowsy but hasn’t bothered me at all. I take it 3 times per day and notice immediately if I haven’t had it in time.

I’m dealing with stress incontinence (I’m a second time mom) and doc recommended I go to vagina physical therapy! Has anyone done this??  I’m stressed about missing more work but also do not want to end up in diapers at age 32!
  • @jkr2019 I did pelvic floor physical therapy and it was well worth my time. I went for 4 months, I don’t remember how many visits though. Maybe averaged out to once a week or every other week.

  • @jkr2019 I did PT for my pelvic floor after my second. She taught me how to do kegels correctly and also talked about complete core strength is also super important as all those muscles contribute to not leaking. She also said my constipation issues were due to one muscle/tendon being super tight to counteract the weak pelvic floor muscle. I wasn’t able to go back as insurance doesn’t care about my pelvic floor but I fixed most of my issues from the things I learned at that appointment and lots of googling of exercises to do after that.

  • I've been itching all over since Saturday, I'm really hoping it's not choleostasis. I have my 20 week anatomy scan on Monday. I plan to bring it up then, and ask for my bile acids to be tested. I'm really hoping it's not choleostasis, and just winter skin, but I've been using lotion every day, and the itching won't stop. Has anyone been diagnosed with choleostasis this early and everything was okay?
  • Hi @heatherlynn321, my best friend was dx with choleostasis in her first pregnancy. She was advised to induce at 37 weeks due to risk of still birth. But she and the baby, beautiful little girl, were both fine. Her case was still able to be managed by midwives and an mfm consulted as needed. What’s scary about her case is she really only itched for one week in the first trimester and then had no symptoms. Makes you wonder how many women could have it and are not tested. I knew another woman who had it who itched like mad, but apparently your level of itchiness and your bile acid levels don’t correlate. There is a medication you can take but it hasn’t actually been proven to work so my friend did not take the meds. Hope this helps!
  • @jkr2019 Thanks, I'm definitely going to ask them to test me on Monday.
