Baby is the size of a(n): raspberry
Upcoming appointments: January 2! It’s so close now.
How are you feeling? Still tired and my morning sickness took it to another level yesterday
Raves/Rants: my morning sickness kept me wanting to eat all day yesterday to keep it at bay. It also didn’t help that all I wanted to was spaghetti. Hopefully the same thing doesn’t happen today.
Questions: none
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? We have been to Paradise Island in the Bahamas a couple times and it’s my happy place. The beaches and water are beautiful, the food is so delicious, and the people are so kind. I can’t wait to go back!

How are you feeling? Pregnancy wise i have zero symptoms, which I'm trying not to freak out about.
Raves/Rants: I guess I should be thankful I'm not puking my guts up with 2 kids to chase after?
Questions:
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Costa Rica. That place is paradise and the people are amazing as well as the food. I cant wait to go back.
@wednesdaygirl1019 Seriously the most beautiful place ever. Where’d you guys visit? We stayed in Dublin to ring in the New Year and then rented a car and drove along the southern coast. Stayed in some tiny coastal town in Cork and then Galway before we drove back across to Dublin. Such an amazing trip!
@wildrainbow Hoping for an awesome appointment tomorrow!
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? St. John. There are so many beaches and each one is totally different. The snorkeling and food are amazing and it's very private.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green (though admittedly still getting DH on board with that)
Upcoming appointments: January 13
How are you feeling? Very normal. Very sober 😂
Raves/Rants: n/a
Questions: Have any other STMs switched OBs between kids? I loved my OB for prenatal care with DS, but she was a little rigid when it came to birth logistics and the OB who ended up delivering me was amazing. I’m tempted to switch, but it’s a small obstetrics group at the hospital and I’m worried it’ll be hella awkward. Plus there’s still no guarantee I get my OB of choice for delivery. I feel like I need to make the decision before or immediately following my first appointment, if I’m going to.
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Zermatt. I love mountains and mountain towns, and that one was especially picturesque! Hope to go back someday.
@emiliadkay my ob did not deliver my first child and I was fine with that. I actually switched doctors in the middle of my pregnancy because my first doctor was all about my weight, I was obese when I got pregnant, and didn’t care that baby and I were healthy. I had an appointment with my current doctor because mine didn’t have availability, and told me that as long as mom and baby are healthy and I’m gaining weight on track that’s all that he is worried about. And I haven’t looked back. I actually went through four didn’t doctors for my labor, it was long. If there was a guarantee that your doctor would deliver you then I would say yes switch, but it’s a hand toss as to who is actually going to deliver your baby.
Married: August 2012
TTC #1: July 2015
BFP 1: October 30, 2015; EDD: July 6, 2016- Team Pink
Upcoming appointments: 12/31. My first official appointment, but I was at the er last night and got to see baby!
How are you feeling? Tired, thirsty, kind of uncomfortable, found out I have a uti last night.
Raves/Rants: I don’t want to jinx myself, but so far no morning sickness. I have a digestive disorder so I was sure I’d have issues. Fingers crossed it stays this way.
Questions: have any of you had a uti during pregnancy? I hate having to take additional meds now.
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Paradise island, Bahamas.
@emiliandkay I plan to switch practices / hospitals if all goes well. I am not sure if switching obs within the same practice may make a huge difference or not, only bc you may still get who you get on the day of delivery. But maybe the difference to you is more in how you are treated at your appointments ongoing? And that is super important too. I felt my practice, even the midwives there, were also very weight focused, but didn't actually refer me to a nutritionist! So... How seriously were they really taking it? Or just basically chubby shaming a person, assuming I just eat like crap, which I don't. I mean, last pregnancy I definitely ate! Lol but not garbage, so that was annoying. And who knows how much or if my weight gain (~35 lbs) contributed to my labor outcome, vs. just we grow big babies! So. 🤷. I am willing to try a completely different scene in the hopes I feel more empowered, healthy, and confident that my body and my baby can do the vbac. We still may get the same outcome, but I want to say at least I tried to flip the script and set myself up for success! You have to advocate for yourself sometimes, and how you are treated / made to feel, bc no one else is going to do it for you. ❤️
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out ASAP!
Baby is the size of a(n): black peppercorn
Upcoming appointments: early ultrasound Jan. 2
How are you feeling? So tired. Strong Taco Bell craving last week (only happens during pregnancy). Also uncomfortable because my left ear still won’t unclog after my upper respiratory infection. It’s been like this a week now so I’m calling my doctor today. Ugh.
Raves/Rants: rave- I’m so excited it’s almost Christmas! Love this time of year. Also getting to nap while DD naps. Rant- my stupid ear. I’m sick of everything being muffled.
Questions: not at the moment!
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Scotland! Hands down, the friendliest and most stunning place I’ve been. Portugal was probably the second friendliest.
@tyrion_ We did a similar route as you! We flew into Dublin and spent a couple of days there, then rented a car and drove around the southern coast, staying overnight in Kilkenny, Kinsale, Bantry, Dingle, and Galway before driving back to Dublin. We made a lot of little stops along the way to each town to break up the driving. I think Kinsale was my favorite stop!
@babytimeagain I would love to visit Scotland! What was your favorite place that you visited?
(I had an ultrasound on Friday, and prior to that I thought my due date was 8/3 based on last period/likely date of conception. My boyfriend and I live in different states so I know the (small) window where we saw each other, and the dating from the scan just seems impossible to me. A little freaked out that maybe the baby isn't growing, that said baby had a strong heart beat (145 bpm at 6 weeks, 5 days) and no one else seemed concerned at all).
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I was team green but starting to lean towards finding out!
Baby is the size of a(n): Blueberry
Upcoming appointments: January 2... The doctor is letting me come back for another US for my peace of mind.
How are you feeling? A bit anxious! Was hoping to shake some of that after my first appointment, but it's intensified a little. Other than that, tired, super sore breasts, nauseous, and still waking in the middle the night (now after wild dreams).
Raves/Rants: Rant: It feels a bit frustrating to mentally do week seven again... I feel like I'm going backwards! Rave: My office is closed this week, so it's nice to have time off and not worry about missing anything.
Questions: Any other folks have experiences with the dating ultrasound to be behind your estimates? And would love any recommendations for meditations/mantras to help with first trimester anxiety. I think I'm going to do Yoga with Adrienne's meditation for anxiety video later.
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? I LOVED Ecuador and hope to go back soon!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team finding out
Baby is the size of a(n): raspberry
Upcoming appointments: Thursday!
How are you feeling? Always tired. I feel pretty good in the morning and get slightly queezy starting in the afternoon.
Raves/Rants: Rave - H wrapped all of our Christmas presents this weekend. I threw 3 gifts into bags and that was my contribution. He let me nap and told me I was busy growing a human so I should relax
Questions:
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Paris. It was beautiful and magical! The food was amazing (macarons) and it was so cool to see the historical landmarks of the city.
Upcoming appointments: January, but I did the first set of bloodwork today.
How are you feeling? Tired, stuffy nose. I’m not sure if I’m getting a cold or if it’s just pregnancy.
Raves/Rants: My OB practice doesn’t see patients for first ultrasound until 10-12 weeks, which was already frustrating because I know most places do it sooner. So I was scheduled for 1/13, but last week they called and said my doctor actually will not be in that day so I had to reschedule. The next time available was 1/20, when I will be 11 weeks. It is also at noon instead of 8:30, which is far less convenient for both me and my husband.
Questions:
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? I’ve been to a few awesome places, but my favorite was probably the Mediterranean cruise we took for our honeymoon - we went from Venice to Montenegro and Greek islands.
@emiliadkay It's been 5 years since my last birth so not only am I switching OBs, but I am switching practices and hospitals because I no longer live in that area. If you already know you don't want your previous OB, I would say not to wait to change. However, as you know, there's no guarantee which doctor will be present at the birth so keep it all in stride. I prefer being more selective about group practices rather than a specific doctor, because it seems like as long as the group has a similar school of thought, I might be in better place overall. Hope that made sense-- very long winded answer!
Upcoming appointments: I have a nurse triage phone call/questionnaire on 12/31 which might prompt earlier testing because of my loss history. Next scheduled in-person appt is 1/17
How are you feeling? tired. clumsy. nervous. emotional. a little nausea. I am focused on every feeling and twinge.
Raves/Rants: I don't really want the flurry of family that is headed to our house this week. I am not a huge fan of hosting gatherings but it's our first one in a long time so I am just trying to chill out on the whole thing.
Questions: none.
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Japan was the best, most different, and eye-opening place I have ever visited.
Upcoming appointments: Jan 6th is the first and I cannot wait to make sure things are progressing as they should be!! Then Jan 16th.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. I'm more tired than usual and sometimes a bit queezy, but once I have a few crackers I'm so much better!!
Raves/Rants: We told our parents and siblings this weekend and it was so surreal. This whole thing still doesn't feel real. I'm still POAS and then I lovingly stare at them for the next few days, hahaha... I love this time of year to begin with so now it's just extra magical
Questions: Anyone else still POAS??
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Tortola! We spent half of our honeymoon there and sailed/snorkeled through the British Virgin Islands and it was beyond breathtaking and relaxing. Hubs and I plan to go back. Sadly, the resort we stayed at was completely destroyed with back to back hurricanes, so we will need to stay somewhere else.
Me: 33 DH: 36 Dating 4/2008 Married 6/2016 TTC #1 9/2019 BFP 12/13/2019! EDD 8/27/2020 Baby Girl
@ziggymama06 Guilty! At home I have all my sticks lined up in a cute little row in the corner of my bathroom drawer. I’m “only” POAS EODish at this point, but will probably keep doing so until my OB appt next month.
@blackgirlmagic@BusinessWifeThanks for all your thoughts, and I’m glad you both found OBs that were better fits than your original doctors! And @BusinessWife@radiohd18 I hope the new practices this pregnancy work out well. For various reasons, I’m not considering switching groups and so it probably does make sense to keep the same doctor and just advocate early/often for the birth I’d like to (try to) have.
Upcoming appointments: Second Prenatal Appt on 1/10.
How are you feeling? The morning/all day sickness is real to the point where it is even waking me up in the middle of the night. I am on daily and nightly anti-nausea medication and that barely takes the edge off. SERIOUSLY ready for the first trimester to be over with.
Raves/Rants: Tired .. cranky ... ready for the holiday break!
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? My husband and I have been visiting Anna Maria Island each Spring Break for the past 5 years. It is in Florida on the Gulf Coast and the water is crystal clear. It reminds me of the caribbean and I love it!
Upcoming appointments: Second ultrasound is tomorrow, Christmas Eve! I’ll be at 8w3d!
How are you feeling? Always hungry!
Raves: I had to go out of town suddenly for a family emergency last week, but luckily my boss was fine with it! Then our executive director gave us an extra day off this week, which I’m using today, then we’re closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for Christmas! My first day back will be this Friday, then I have the whole weekend! So all in all, I only have to work 1 out of 16 days, and I only had to use 5 of my saved vacation days for it! It has been so nice not having to be there for almost two whole weeks during the first trimester, which has definitely helped me avoid telling them about the pregnancy!
Questions: N/A
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Last week I visited the Georgia Aquarium! It was amazing! They have underground theatres where you can see under the water! You can stand right next to a beluga whale or a whale shark! Definitely a must-see, if you’re in the Atlanta area at all!
Baby is the size of a(n): Brookesia micra chameleon
Upcoming appointments: U/S 12/30, appt 1/21
How are you feeling? Like crap. Eventually I will start evening out. You know, after delivery...
Raves/Rants: rave: I don’t work Christmas Eve or Christmas, and then it’s only a half shift next Monday and Tuesday and off for New Years.
Rant: I don’t get holiday or vacation pay.
Questions:
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited?
I’m not well traveled. I don’t like to roam far. But my favorite place to be is the Oregon coast. It’s gorgeous all year round, even when it’s raining and whipping sand on your face. And it feels like home, so that’s a plus, too. 😅
@duck_duck_goose I have always wanted to see the Oregon coast. I want to do a trip from Oregon up through Seattle to Vancouver. I've been to Seattle and Vancouver before but it was for work and I was alone so it sucked. Oregon is beautiful!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: team finding out!
Baby is the size of a(n): sweet pea
Upcoming appointments: Jan 9th
How are you feeling? Waves of strong nausea, but if I keep eating it’s a little better. With my DD I had an extreme aversion to vegetables for several weeks, so I’m trying to eat as many as possibly now in case it happens again!
Raves/Rants: Excited for Christmas Eve and some time off work!
Questions: not now
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Probably Greece. I went with my sister and I’d love to go back with my husband.
EDD: 8/31, 4w2d Team: Green Baby is the size of: a poppy seed! Upcoming Appts: Jan 29th. So far! How're you feeling? Okay but a bit nauseous. I didn't really have nausea with my first. I'm also still crampy so that worries me a bit. I was surprised I was pregnant since I was so period crampy. Other than that I'm good! My toddler told me "You're milk came back!!!" when nursing 😅 Rants/Raves: I'm off all next week and so is my husband so I'm excited for some family time! We might get a hotel one night so our daughter can swim. Questions: Is anyone else not doing a first trimester ultrasound? My midwife doesn't do them because they aren't medically necessary apparently, but I worry about not getting accurate dating and making sure there's a heartbeat. With my daughter, but due date got pushed a week further out after my 6 week ultrasound. GTKY: Aruba! I love the beacb
Married July 2014 DD born June 2016 Second due August 2020 (team green!)
Me! I declined it this time, and I did not have one last time either. You generally don't really need one unless your period is all over the place. I am very certain of my dates, so that's why I turned it down (and I wasn't able to have it in the right time frame last time). Is your practice pushy about inducing when you're at or just past your due date. With that, I'd say it's a little more important, too, especially since you say the last due date was pushed back. But my practice has no issue letting me go to 42 weeks (I'm an OOH birther, so past 42 I'd have to switch to a hospital).
But due dates are also just an approximation, hence why full term is technically more than a month long. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ziggymama06 when we were in St. John we took a day trip to the BVIs. We snorkeled the Baths and the Indians. It was amazing. I'd love to visit more of the BVI later on.
@starlight_7 my boys and I have an annual pass to the Georgia aquarium and are going again sometime this week or next. It's really neat. If you're close to Atlanta the Tennessee aquarium in Chattanooga is awesome, as well. My 6 year old would live there if I would let him.
Upcoming appointments: labs on January 10th and ultrasound on the 17th. (Right before my birthday!)
How are you feeling? Okay so far, anxious that this will be a healthy pregnancy. My pregnancy with DS was good, but I’m still nervous since it’s early. I’m feeling a little nausea when I eat. I have tender breasts, and a little bit of cramping, but overall, good!
Raves/Rants: We announced to my in-laws yesterday. We gave them a box with little shoes and a note that said (#2 August 2020). It was a very sweet reaction from them. At first they didn’t get it, but they’re very excited! They’re the only grandparents who really have a connection with DS, so I know they are excited about another grand baby. DH is an only child so this will be their second.
Questions: none atm.
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? I’m not well traveled either, but I love anywhere with a beach. I live in Arkansas and we have a ton of lakes. The change of scenery and wildlife is always cool.
@ziggymama06 girl, yes. I wanted to see a progression on my cheapies. And just to make sure it wasn’t a chemical! I everything looks good so far though. Our appts are so close!
@tyrion_ I totally agree about the snails pace. I literally just found out and the last 4 days have been so long! 😅
@emiliadkay dying about the “very sober” part! I wouldn’t be opposed to switching if I had to. I’m going to a small group like that too. My last pregnancy my regular ob wasn’t the one who delivered me. So I mentioned at this appt that I would mind seeing the doctor that did, but I apparently she’s the busiest one! My doctor is very good though. I liked her.
@tanhabanana I hope your morning sickness holds off! Fx!
@rivercitynik I hope your next appt goes well, and that you get peace of mind.
@jwhite3116 That sounds amazing. Next time I want to snorkel over there. We sailed and snorkeled by Jost Van Dyke and a mini island that one of the Corona commercials was filmed at (just sand and a palm tree!). We took the ferry to Virgin Gorda and explored the Baths on foot... it was so beautiful, just incredible! Cannot wait to return.
@photographerwife Your announcement sounds so cute. What a great memory! I've cut back to testing every few days but its definitely nice to see the progression and make sure something is still going on lol. My last one was a clearblue digital saying pregnant, so that was nice to see 😍

How are you feeling? Okay, just really tired bc I didn't sleep well last night. Other than that, my symptoms are pretty mild. This week I've noticed more fatigue, sorer and fuller breasts, and a choosier attitude towards food. I also get really hangry and nauseated if I go too long without eating. On Christmas Eve all I wanted was vegetables, but we had no healthy groceries and everywhere I could get a salad was closed. I've never felt such strong cravings.
Raves/Rants: Rave: so happy to be on vacation from teaching!
Questions:
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? I haven't traveled many places outside of the U.S., but I am living vicariously through you all reading your responses to this question I really enjoyed Glacier National Park. I tend to prefer peaceful and beautiful nature escapes.
Also, @ziggymama06 I definitely POAS like 12 days in a row after my first faint positive. I had a bunch of extra tests leftover and figured I might as well use them before they expire! Plus, seeing the double lines was so comforting to me each morning.
@faith_2911 I also become nauseated if I go too long without eating. If I eat a good breakfast I'm most likely not hungry by lunch time, but then I start to feel sick and then I for sure don't want anything. It's a cruel game. I'm trying to remember to grab some snacks before leaving the house but that has not worked out recently.
Married: August 2012
TTC #1: July 2015
BFP 1: October 30, 2015; EDD: July 6, 2016- Team Pink
@blackgirlmagic Good idea bringing snacks on the go! Yes, it's such a fine balance trying to appease our stomachs! Sometimes I'll even think I want to eat something and then it will be in front of me and suddenly it's so unappetizing. So far, I've been fortunate to only have a little nausea, but last night it hit me all at once and everything in my house smelled too strong and made me feel sick: candles, hand soaps, laundry detergent--you name it. Today all that sounds good to eat is ginger ale and water crackers.
How are you feeling? I’m doing ok, but nervous given a previous miscarriage. The light/moderate cramps have me on edge. I take comfort that I am not spotting/bleeding, but I am eager to find put that everything is going as it should.
Raves/Rants: nothing at this time
Questions: none at this time
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? This is tough as we love to travel: Sweden, Dubai, and Australia. But really haven’t found a place I didn’t like.

Questions: not at the moment!
GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Scotland! Hands down, the friendliest and most stunning place I’ve been. Portugal was probably the second friendliest.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out
Baby is the size of a(n): blueberry

@blackgirlmagic @BusinessWifeThanks for all your thoughts, and I’m glad you both found OBs that were better fits than your original doctors! And @BusinessWife @radiohd18 I hope the new practices this pregnancy work out well. For various reasons, I’m not considering switching groups and so it probably does make sense to keep the same doctor and just advocate early/often for the birth I’d like to (try to) have.

Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry
Weeks+Days: 8 weeks 2 days
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Pink!
Baby is the size of a: dime!
Questions:

GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Last week I visited the Georgia Aquarium! It was amazing! They have underground theatres where you can see under the water! You can stand right next to a beluga whale or a whale shark! Definitely a must-see, if you’re in the Atlanta area at all!

Baby is the size of: a poppy seed!
Upcoming Appts: Jan 29th. So far!
How're you feeling? Okay but a bit nauseous. I didn't really have nausea with my first. I'm also still crampy so that worries me a bit. I was surprised I was pregnant since I was so period crampy. Other than that I'm good! My toddler told me "You're milk came back!!!" when nursing 😅
Rants/Raves: I'm off all next week and so is my husband so I'm excited for some family time!

How are you feeling? Slightly nauseous, very tired and a little crampy

GTKY: Where was the best place you have visited? Paris

@blackgirlmagic the Bahamas are my dream 😍

How are you feeling? I’m doing ok, but nervous given a previous miscarriage. The light/moderate cramps have me on edge. I take comfort that I am not spotting/bleeding, but I am eager to find put that everything is going as it should.
