So I got started on a very special project for myself. I decided when we got our IF diagnosis that I was going to knit myself socks for IVF, and I already had the perfect pattern in mind. Ten years ago I spent the $300 to be a member of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin Sock Club (you get a sock yarn and pattern shipment 6 times per year) but I never finished all of the socks.

This is the Rogue Roses sock pattern, sock A is done and it’s time to cast on sock B next. I don’t think I’ll need them until January, but I feel good having sock A done! My mom is no longer with us, but her middle name was Rose (we named our dog after her) so I feel like in a small way I’m bringing her with me as I embark upon this journey.

I am a big baker, and am already planning for my cookie baking session the weekend before Christmas. I also just got a cricut, and have been making some things to go with presents. Ill post photos when I have the cookies all done.

Follow up from the win/wine/whine thread - here is the eggnog recipe that I use. If you think you don’t like eggnog, make this and see how wrong you are 🙂

The instructions mention salt but it’s not on the ingredients list. The comments on the original post I found had a note from the author that it’s 1/4 teaspoon.

I'm so excited to craft this weekend! I bought wine tumblers on amazon, and MH and I are going to use the Silhouette to vinyl them with Christmas phrases, we'll give them to the ladies of the family during our gingerbread house decorating night!

I'm thinking of doing: "It's 5:00 at the North Pole", "He sees you when you're drinking", "Naughty, Nice, I tried", Lit like the Griswold House", "Dashing Through Merlot" "Making Spirits Bright"

@ziggymama06 I have a Silhouette machine, so it cuts the vinyl for me and I use transfer paper to put it on the tumbler. MH loves to do it with me, he's very into design, so he does that part and I do the weeding and transferring.

My gingerbread night hasn't been set yet, although maybe I'll propose it for tomorrow? We do it at my MiL's house, and it's super fun. We buy the houses pre-made, and the houses include candy with them although we supplement. Everyone brings candy they want to decorate with, and we always share. We worry a little less about who pays for what though since it's a family only thing. It's me, MH, MiL, BiL, SiL, SiL's mom, and SiL's sister sometimes. Last year, my SiL's mom won, she made a roof out of fruity pebbles!

@ziggymama06 my friends all bring their own houses/kits and they also bring a snack and/or a beverage too. I always make a cocktail of some sort and I always buy a bunch of extra candies from the dollar store!

@ziggymama06 I made sand spikers for my girlfriends a couple of years ago too! I love my silhouette, I really need to pull it out more often!

@ziggymama06 The pre-built houses are $10, and you really want the cheap candy to decorate it anyway, so it's not a terribly expensive night!

Yes, you can also make clothes with it using different vinyl (heat transfer vinyl). I also have a press to make shirts - I'll be making alllll kinds of shirts for our next Disney trip! I have a Silhouette Portrait, which is smaller and less expensive, since I don't use it a ton, it's just for fun for me. I have Silhouette because you can make your own designs, Cricut is a bit more limited.

@mvt2003 Thanks for the info!! I love creative things like this and have ordered shirts and cups in the past, but would love to just make them myself!! I'm going to research the Silhouette this weekend! I would like to custom design as I designed shirts for my IL's double birthday trip that the whole fam went on to Vegas a few years back and it was so fun... I just had Custom Ink print them for me and honestly never thought about having the machine to do these myself!!
