Re: Weekly Randoms 12/1

  • For whatever odd reason, this has been me every single night since the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I tested the next day. I only got 4.5 hours of sleep last night. I hope that this is short lived because I love my sleep.

  • Oh, man, I’m the opposite! 😄 In the past I’ve always been a night owl, getting only 4 hours of sleep per night. But these last 2 1/2 weeks I’ve going to bed (unironically!) at 9:30pm, and have a hard time waking up when my alarm goes off at 7:30am! I’m always tired (and always hungry, but that’s another topic)! 😂
  • I’m with @starlight_7! I cannot get enough sleep!
Baby Boy 3 is on the way!
    Due 1/21/17
  • You ladies are lucky. I had another night of just four hours of sleep.

So I'm going to ask my doctor when I see him in January, but I wanted your opinions. We have a family reunion in June that would consist of a 24 hour drive. My husband hates flying and has to take pills to try to relax during the flight, plus dealing with a toddler, and the tickets are stupid expense to get to the destination. I will be about 33 weeks pregnant. Of course we would make stops to stretch and sleep during the drive, we've done the drive before. Would you all take the trip or just send your partner and child by themselves? I feel like the 33 week mark is around the time that travel starts to get limited by your doctors recommendation.

  • @blackgirlmagic Totally unrelated... I see you have a July 2016 baby. I do too :) Were you on the BMB then?
  • @kgrgreen yes I was!

  • @blackgirlmagic definitely just send your H and toddler. A few days with the house to yourself sounds heavenly! Could be many years before you get that opportunity again.
  • Anyone have fun plans this weekend?
  • @blackgirlmagic definitely send them off and stay home! I’m usually miserable by then and I cannot fathom a drive that long even with stops and such!
Baby Boy 3 is on the way!

  • @blackgirlmagic Send them alone. That sounds miserable for being that pregnant.
  • @scgirl6113 and @tyrion_ I have thought about sending them and enjoying a few days by myself. We will need to make a decision by May when the final payment needs to be made.

  • @blackgirlmagic I’m guessing this family reunion is for your husband’s side of the family? If so, I would be soooo out at 33 weeks! 😂
How often do they hold reunions? And do you know (or care to know) most of the people who will be there?
  • I am exhausted during the day so by the time I get home, sleep is not a problem. I'm knocked out by 9:30. 10 if I push it.
  • @starlight_7 yes it is my husbands side. So the last reunion was two years ago. Prior to that it was over a decade at least. I know most of the people on his grandmothers side and they are all really fun. It’s like the great debate in my mind of what I want to do. But I am leaning towards just sending them.

  • @tyrion_ I had to work today, which sucks because saturdays are always a shit show on top of a skeleton crew (it did not disappoint.) tomorrow we are going to take the littles to hunt down a Christmas tree, so that should be miserably wet. But I do love watching them play in the mud and race to pick out a tree. :) how about you? Anything fun?
  • @duck_duck_goose We had an out of town birthday which was fun (1.5 hour drive each way). The weather was beautiful and the party was outside so it worked out nicely. We might go to Disney or the science center tomorrow. But mostly I am hoping for a nap.
  • @kgrgreen @blackgirlmagic I have a July 2016 baby too! That BMB was something else.

  • @tyrion_ oh my god a nap sounds fabulous. But the science center or Disney would also be fun. What science center is it? I live not too far from OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) in Portland, which is pretty cool depending on what traveling exhibits they have in and how often you go. They have a whole interactive lab that takes up half the building for kids, so they’re always entertained.
  • @blackgirlmagic At 33 weeks a 24 hour drive sounds really hard, though I had a lot of tailbone pain.
  • @coldlife I’m curious as to why you would skip the dating ultrasound. Im looking forward to that so that I can see little baby!

@kgrgreen we didn’t get a lot of congratulations this time when we announced to family, which really confused me. My husband grandmother did not say anything. It bothered me at the time, but I’m over it. I know they will be excited once the baby is here.

  • @blackgirlmagic Just because I don't really need it. I personally don't view ultrasounds as a fun thing to see the baby (although, yes, definitely a side benefit!) I view them solely as a diagnostic tool to help me have the healthiest pregnancy and birth possible. So if I'm confident in my dates and have regular cycles, there's really no point to having one. Fwiw, I had one with my first, my due date was not adjusted based on it, and she came three days before her due date. I did not have one with my second, and she came the day before her due date.
