My husband just told me he invited his friend and his family to our house for Thanksgiving. I love that man but he may get thrown in ther snow over this.
4, so not horrible. But I get hyper stressed with last minute changes, especially since I now have to find more chairs for the table and make at least one dish gluten/nut free so the 3 yeast old can eat more than Turkey. I also don't know these people and feel anxious about how the house will look.
@doodleoodle yeah I met my husband's friend once during the baptism of our son on Easter. He seems nice but now I am in overdrive when it come to cleaning the house because family can kiss my pregnant can, but strangers judging my clutter sends me into a anxiety state. How do you even make a gluten free dessert without almond or coconut flour! I am not equipped with this knowledge, so I think I will have him tell them to bring specialty foods that way I don't accidentally kill someone's kid.
@sassypants2010 - send your husband out for some sorbet. I wouldn't make a specialty baked good just for a kid you've never met. But if you feel inclined, I am making chocolate mousse pie, you could make it crustless and it would be gluten free.
So yesterday DH and I had a date day, where DD went to school and we took days off from work. We got our daughter's birthday and Christmas shopping done, then went to a really fancy Oyster bar restaurant where I got cauliflower bisque, a mocktail, crabcake, and fish tacos. Then we split a creme brulee for dessert.
We went home and were going to have some "us" time but I instead spent that time with the toilet, and then there was a toilet issue that he needed to fix. So the date did NOT turn out as planned.
Lesson being, don't go out to seafood dinner in third trimester if you are intending to be romantic later.
Also DH went to Boston to go see one of his favorite bands and left around 3:30. He got home at 1 a.m. and didn't sleep well. He is absolutely delirious but is bidding on a public construction bid at 2 p.m. today and I'm a little worried about him. I told him to come home after the bid (public bids are thrown out if they are 0:001s late) but they will have to have a post-mortem once it is over.

Well, between my all of a sudden terrible 6.5 year old sleeper and the person who fell asleep at the wheel and took out our mailbox and got stuck in our ditch at 11:30pm last night, I am running on maybe 2 hours of sleep and am exhausted. Only thing keeping me going is knowing that I have a massage tonight and daughter is being shipped to the Grandparents for the night so I might actually get some damn sleep.
Thank God for free Costco delivery. I banked on working a half day tomorrow, (like we have done the last 4 years) but the manager "can't guarantee it" this year because we have a big roadwork project going on and not sure if the crew will get finished in time. And so my plans of getting my Thanksgiving stuff and having some me time to walk around Costco tomorrow went out the window. But thankfully now, my items are delivered between 5-6 and I actually probably saved $100 because I didn't buy anything extra I saw while there. So it all worked out. lol
I think there has been a total of 4 weeks this whole pregnancy where I haven’t been sick. Jesus. Having a kid in daycare and being pregnant is a killer
@babyroma - hooray! good thing you got good news after repeating the test you deserve a break!
Feeling much better now guys, thanks! I'm working from home and left a tea bag in too long today so now I'm all jittery. I'm so happy I only have to work until noon. Then we will be baking, grocery storing, picking baby brother up from train station, etc.
@bg122785 - wow I had no idea Costco delivers. They must lose so much money on people not buying random things they find haha.

So today I'm 29+5 and had an appointment with my midwife and got "the talk" because I've gained 40lbs already. I know I've gained a lot of weight because my butt and thighs are huge now but hearing it from her and the way she went about it just really sucked. Diet time for this girl... 🦃🥔🥧
@foreveronyourside I’m not far from that and my docs haven’t said anything. Seems like people are really random about expectations regarding weight gain... and it also seems like pregnancy weight gain “normals” are useless bc we’re all so different. (Granted I am not a medical professional, so my opinions carry very little weight... pun intended 😂) I was really worried with rapid weight gain early on and I decided to stop stressing about numbers and just focus on trying to be consistent about making mostly healthy choices. I’m sorry you felt shamed. That sucks.
@foreveronyourside at my appointment on Monday we talked about my weight gain so I know where you are coming from. My OB told me she was more concerned with what I was eating than the number on the scale. I say eat healthy and don't let your midwife get you down!

@um_thor Thanks for sharing, I still feel really guilty because I know that there was a period of time where I felt like I was eating NON-STOP, I was so hungry all time. So I wish I could take that back. But it's too late now. DH was at the appointment with me and he really took what she said very serious so basically wants to do the diabetic diet until the baby is born and after so I lose the weight and go back to my 110lb pre pregnancy self. I have been told by many other women I work with that the midwives here are really hard on women about their weight so it's good to know that other providers aren't as harsh. Trying to not let this affect my self esteem and make me feel depressed!
@foreveronyourside I’m sorry she made you feel bad and that your h was there to now try and make you stick to the gd diet. A friend of mine due in just a few weeks had a similar experience recently with her midwife about weight gain and getting back to prepregnancybweight quickly. I find that infuriating as long as you are healthy otherwise. Women already stress so much about body image, weight gain and losing the baby weight. My obs never have focused on the number on the scale just encourage eating healthy and lots of water while still indulging as it sounds good.
@clee5711 She kind of breezed past my excellent CBC report as well as the glucose test I took last week which was also great. Just replaying when she pointed at my chart showing the red BMI flag saying "you realize you're in the obese category now?" It hurts and I don't really want to talk about it with friends/family because I don't want them to know, etc. Hearing and talking about the baby weight just makes me want to cry. What if I don't? What if some of it sticks around? I am really really trying to stay away from the Google hole because I think I will obsess.
@foreveronyourside wtf you can’t go by BMI when pregnant. That doesn’t even make sense. Yes, a portion of your weight gain is accumulated fat storage. But a huge portion of weight gain is baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, enlarged uterus, and extra blood throughout your body.
@daffodil_shoe I didn't think the BMI thing made sense either!!! But I wasn't trying to argue with her, she followed it up with a rant that this is a problem in America and that she has this talk with the majority of her patients. It was a really hard and awkward conversation. I understand her concern that I might have labor and delivery complications because my baby might be too big and that it will be hard to lose the weight after birth. I get that. I don't want that either.
@foreveronyourside my MIL’s mom gained 80 lbs her first pregnancy (started at about 100 lbs). That was her smallest baby (7ish lbs). Her 3rd pregnancy she didn’t even realize she was pregnant until she was pretty far along, and that was her biggest.
@foreveronyourside I hate your midwife. That’s rude and BMI doesn’t make sense at all when you’re pregnant. Like @daffodil_shoe said a good chunk of weight we gain isn’t Even from fat. You’d think she’s be happy with your labs coming back good. Please don’t stress and let it ruin your holiday. Eat the treats. This is literally the best time to indulge more than you normally would.
@foreveronyourside, wtf to your provider! I have seen 3 different providers at my OB’s office this pregnancy. First one said she suggested 10lbs in the first 20 weeks and I was at like 13lbs at 17 weeks but she also said “but you have extra room to gain because you are small”. The next provider told me to keep my weight gain in check at like 24 weeks. And at almost 28 weeks I was told by the provider that I was “right where I should be” for weight gain.
In my first pregnancy I started at 115 and gave birth at 152. I started this pregnancy at 116 and am currently 140 with 12 weeks left. I lost all the weight I gained with baby number one within 6 months. Don’t let this provider get you down. Make healthy choices and bring a healthy baby into this world.
@foreveronyourside big hug to you I’ve asked my OB (a different one very appointment) at every single appointment about my weight gain and none have really cared. I’m sorry you felt shamed and I agree that the pressure on women to lose weight etc is just too much. Be easy on yourself, enjoy something aside from veggies all the time and when you’re ready to work toward your pre-baby weight, do it on your terms.
@foreveronyourside just catching up here... and I'm livid for you. Ignore your husband and your midwife. I started at 110 my first pregnancy and delivered at 160. I lost 30 pounds in the first two weeks after delivery and soon thereafter I was below 110. I had a similar experience with DD2. And yes, while some people do struggle to lose the weight, some people just need to gain more during pregnancy. It is in no way indicative of what your weight will be afterwards. And, with that aside, I’m honestly pissed that the expectation has even been put out there that you need to focus on getting back to your pre pregnancy weight. You don’t need to focus on that at all. You need to focus on baby and recovering from birth physically and emotionally. And if you choose to nurse baby then you really don’t need to be calorie counting.
Feelings extra thankful for all of you wonderful ladies today! Your support and encouragement means the world to me!! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family! 😘🥰
@foreveronyourside girl don't let anyone shame you while you are literally creating life! You are a rockstar and should hold your head high. With my first my ob shamed me so much I lost 25 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, my new ob says as long as it isn't causing secondary risks to just be healthy.
