@biolprof I have a blood clotting disorder, but also PCOS and so needed a targeted-hormone contraceptive to help prevent effects of PCOS but that would be safe with my blood clotting disorder, so I did have Mirena before becoming pregnant. After the insertion I did get painful cramping for about a week, but after that- I really did like it. Was also pretty easy to take out once I decided to start trying.
@marebear15 we're going to try the red/green clock out. We're on vacation next week, so didn't want to start it only to not use it for a week on vacation
@biolprof I died at YH's dish washer experience. Just no words HAHA.
I'm also thinking about an IUD but the copper one. My OB said they would do it right then and there after delivery which seems convenient since everything is already open and already gonna be hurting, so what's one more thing. Just with my family history of breast cancer I kinda wanna stay away from hormones for now on. I was on the ring until we got pregnant and I loved it but also I kinda like the fact that IUDs are mostly set it and forget it because I'm bad at remembering when I need to take pills/switch rings out, etc. Though, DH seems squeaked out by it. IDK why. It's not living in his body and I'm not allergic to copper. As a scientist I feel like he should be more comfortable with the idea than he is.
@marebear15 My baby girl hates showing her face too. She's a lil sassy nudge. But I still love her.
@alicia__e that's frustrating. I get it. Most of the stuff came off of my registry. And most of the clothes either are second hand (which is awesome. I love that) or my MIL going freaking overboard with clothes!! LOL. I am super frustrated for you that they didn't include gift receipts though. I do have to return one item, but it's mostly my fault for not picking the size correctly when adding the pumping bra to my registry. So back to amazon it goes so I can get the right size.
Upcoming appointments: Next week for regular checkup
How are you feeling? Sleep is becoming difficult and heartburn is now a daily occurence.
Raves/Rants? At this point during my pregnancy with DD, I felt like I was so close to the finish line. This time, I feel like it is still so far away. Maybe its because we still have to get through Thanksgiving and Christmas. Today, one of the teachers at DDs daycare told me that the have felt like I have been pregnant forever, I still have a long time to go!, and wow, Im so big already. Instant rage..
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Everything. We have literally nothing ready for baby yet. I need to go through baby things, but they are being stored at my mom's house. I need to check to see if the infant car seat is in ok shape, what clothes can be re-used, etc. I also need to figure out what I need to buy.
@breweber2010 DH did swim lessons with DD, but he was so glad when she aged out of the parent/child class because she would not listen to him at all. She is doing so much better in the teacher only class!
@persnickity we also use the toddler "ok to wake" clock and it works pretty well! It did take her a little time to get used to it though.
@biolprof I had the copper IUD after DD and loved it (for the most part). The only thing I didn't like was that it made my periods more painful & heavier (this is specific to the copper IUD, not the hormonal ones). For this reason I'm thinking of asking about a hormonal IUD this time. Only thing that worries me is that my BP went up on the pill and the ring, which can indicate a dangerous response to those hormones.
It might all be a moot point, though, since were definitely considering this as our last baby and DH is willing to get the snip after the baby is born. 👍✂
@stashattack so glad you had an awesome shower!! I can relate, mine was this past wknd and it was overwhelming all the love (and gifts) we received.
@biolprof I'm 42 and not concerned with birth control (will be 43 next month). It was very difficult for me to get pregnant in the first place. If it happens again, I'd welcome it.

How are you feeling? Very tired, but prob because of all the excitement of having out of town guests this past wknd. Also heartburn and increased appetite. I'm going to "try" to watch what I eat from here on out.
Raves/Rants? I'm starting to feel general discomfort/ out of breath and starting to wonder how much bigger is the baby/ am I going to get? I've heard folks talking about oh now you're in the last trimester is where you get challenged and it's going to my head.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? I was waiting on the shower before finishing baby girl's room and now have so many things to organize. I also want to prepare my and DH's hospital bags.
@ivyphotoop, SO and I are in the exact boat. I'll be 43 in March. While we didn't struggle with getting pregnant, we also wouldn't mind one more. So, we're going with the wait and see approach, providing my OB still is on board after I deliver.
Upcoming appointments: None for this week because I had to go in for a follow up last week.
How are you feeling? Sick. My DD was nice enough to share her viral respiratory infection with me. On Sunday it was just a sore throat, and knowing better (that I shouldn't have) I got a massage. That made the respiratory infection come on much stronger. I am on day 3 and 2 trips to Patient First later I got all the meds cleared by my OB and hope that it will end sooner rather than later. DD only lasted 3 days total and she is feeling much better, though she did get diagnosed with a heart murmur this week that she has had since birth but we just found out about. Let's hope by Friday I am feeling better because I have a Fertility Massage Class that I am taking this weekend.
Raves/Rants? I am kinda annoyed that my kid has had a heart murmur since birth and it is now just being told to us. We were assured that while it isn't an "innocent" murmur it isn't something to get to worked up over just yet. The hope is that it will close on its own as she grows, and we most likely had a Doctor that knew what it was and that it would go away on its own. Either way more annoying the worrying since we have seen the specialist. I also found out my job is cutting my hours, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but it means I go from salary to "eat what I kill" which is normal for my industry. Now I am going and picking up hours at my old job just to help with the money flow for the next 2 months. It makes me feel like I am free lancing again trying to juggle my husbands work schedule, home, prior appointments, and my clients at my current job. It has been a lot this weekend and at this point all I want to do is take a hot bath and sleep.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Yep on life, but hopefully soon I will have then energy to start back up again. 10 weeks seems like a lot of time, but it really isn't.
@marebear15 I’m glad you got to have the ultrasound, despite her being uncooperative!
@chelscreates ugh, sorry you’re sick. I hope you feel better soon.
@jaceru I have the same feelings that it’s still so far away, and I do attribute it to all the holidays happening first. It certainly hasn’t helped me get motivated.
How are you feeling? I had some bad nausea this morning after drinking tea on an empty stomach. Other than that, doing pretty well.
Raves/Rants? People at work are driving me crazy with their defensive attitudes and blaming others (or the PROCESS) when I’m trying to help them do things right and be compliant. It’s irritating as all hell.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? My life. Not much progress for nursery, but we will be keeping the baby in our room for the first 6 months anyway. I mentioned in TTT the massive amount of laundry I have avoided. I also have piles of mail I keep walking by. We have friends coming in from out of town this weekend, though, so that will get my ass in gear.
Upcoming appointments: Next week is just a checkup but I get another ultrasound on Thanksgiving week!
How are you feeling? Good. Back pain is out of control. Chiropractor is not helping at all. I just got an SI belt and hope that does something. Massage appt tomorrow, hope that helps too.
Raves/Rants? I'm getting excited about the baby shower coming up. I've been getting gifts in the mail since the invites went out and I'm really blown away by everything. One particular gift, a pregnancy pillow has CHANGED MY LIFE. No joke, I haven't slept this well in weeks. IDK why the pregnancy pillow works better than the 3-4 regular pillows I was using, but it does. Highly recommend. Baby is big and strong and I love it. His kicks are now impossible to ignore. I keep picturing meeting him and holding him in my arms. We met with a birth photographer last weekend and I'm actually super thrilled about it. I was on the fence prior to this. On one hand, I like the idea of having pics of this life changing moment. The moment our son enters the world, the moment we become parents, and so on. On the other hand, it will be the single most unflattering moment i can think of. I'll be huge, in pain, mostly naked, exhausted. We'll see how the photos come out, lol. The photographer has a lot of expertise in boudoir and wedding photography and her work looks amazing. 🤷♀️ My MIL is still acting weird around me. She just asked why i didn't invite more of her friends to the baby shower (i did invite 3 of her friends that I know the most) and wants me to forward my invite list to her so she can review it. WTH? Invites went out like 3 weeks ago. Shower is in 1.5 weeks. She was invited to participate in planning but had no interest, and now all of a sudden she has opinions.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating? Everything. I don't have anything for baby other than what we've been gifted. My house is messy. I need to get rid of half the things we own. I need to buy a baby shower dress and hostess gifts. I'm pretty much sucking at being pregnant.
@noranorabobora I still need to get my friends gifts for hosting. They did a wonderful job. And I'm so with you on not being able to wait to meet this lil girl. I totally agree, the kicks are no longer ignorable LOL. And I wish they were sometimes. They are soooo distracting haha!!
As for your MIL, it's your shower. Not hers. If she wants to pay for extra people at this point she can. But just tell her everything has been paid for and you can't add anyone else from the invite list. And that you would have considered these people given proper notice. Mom's are the worst.
@jaceru Thanks for the hope regarding swim lessons! We finished them up last night and DS, of course, had his best lesson of the session...lol! We plan on signing him up again in March without either of us, especially since DH's work schedule doesn't allow for him to help to much with lessons after work.
@noranorabobora and @stashattack I was able to rack up for my hostess gifts at home goods, world market, and tj maxx. I had 8 hostesses! Got really cute, inexpensive gift bags from TJM. I put pretty journals/notebooks, candles, hand lotion, cute little bear soaps, and facial or lip mask.
@breweber2010 I meant to wish you fun at the Vikes game. I went to the new stadium a few years back and it was simply a great place. It is really pretty which is hard to say about a football stadium and it was a very friendly environment. Would go back!
@EmilyE13 Thank you. I am on day 5 and my OB gave me a Z pack. I hope it will help.
@noranorabobora my MIL did the same thing for my first shower. One of my friends is throwing me a sprinkle this time and I didn't even add her to the list. I mean there is a whole story to that too, but stand your ground on this. If she wants her friends to come then she can offer to throw you a shower as well.
