Upcoming appointments: 11/26 + weekly birthing classes on tuesday.
How are you feeling? Really good. Heartburn hasn't been too bad recently. And I slept pretty good this weekend. And all the driving I did didn't screw with my back too much. So overall super good.
Raves/Rants? I had an amazing baby shower. OMG this baby is so loved already by everyone. I feel so touched for her already. And I'm glad I didn't buy a whole lotta clothes cuz holy shit did I get a lot of clothes. MIL went onsie crazy and Mom had some of my old stuff still saved. And then my sweet daycare person from when I was a tot, who we consider part of the family, gave me her great-granddaughters clothes for the spring time. Needless to say I have a lot of laundry and sorting to do this week for baby girl.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Putting my FLMA stuff together. And some of my side business things. I took the weekend off really from my side business and I have a couple graphics to make and do my goal setting.
EDD/Weeks + days: 1/22 (will likely be December though) 28+5
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Purple
Baby is the size of a(n): Nintendo
Upcoming appointments: NST and growth scan tomorrow
How are you feeling? Have some energy which is nice but I’m super uncomfortable all the time. The ob measured my belly at full term at the NST last week so that’s likely why haha.
Raves/Rants? It took all day yesterday but I finally got caught up on laundry. My huge mountain was folded and put away. The last load is in the dryer now so I’ll get that done today. I had to start my 24 hour urine catch, that’s been fun. Dh is so grossed out it has to be kept in the refrigerator 😆. I also started the process of getting our kitten fixed. Im hoping she calms down significantly afterwards because she’s driving me crazy.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Projects I have for the nursery, also finishing up buying certain items.
@kbrown2385 I legit got like 2 loads of laundry dried this weekend. And I have two other loads of laundry to fold on top of what I did. And an overflowing basket to do. I have no clue when I'm going to get it all done this week!!
On top of the baby clothes I got, But I feel like I can get that done over the course of the next couple of months.
@stashattack - I'm so glad you have an amazing shower and got lot of cute girl's stuff!
@kbrown2385 - I'd be kind of grossed out by urine in the fridge too, but at least it's only for 1 day.
EDD/Weeks + days: Jan 18th / 29+2
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Pink
Baby is the size of a(n): acorn squash
Upcoming appointments: Today, and my OB is rewarding me with an ultrasound because I did my GD + blood tests. He likes to reward his patients for doing their tests as an incentive.
How are you feeling? Good. I got on a cleaning spree Friday night. The house was a mess and it was giving me an anxiety attack, so after I nearly yelled at DD and started bawling my head off, DH took DD for an hour and let me clean everything. I even organized under the bathroom sink!
Raves/Rants? Rave: Finally got to go to the pumpkin patch! DD ran most of the corn maze and loved it. She rode the hay ride and a little cow train (x3!), and did the swings and slides at the toddler playground. We didn't end up getting funnel cakes because their machine was broken 😭 but we had chocolate icecream instead so it was all good. Rant: DH wasn't able to go with us because he picked up a nasty cough that turned into bronchitis/borderline pneumonia. We are hoping it doesn't get worse today. This man cannot get better, he's been pushing himself too much
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Getting the nursery ready. I have just a few pictures to put up and a yarn letter to make, but I still haven't done any of it.
Baby is the size of a(n): Eggplant (I feel like that was the vegetable a few weeks ago too?)
Upcoming appointments: sitting in the waiting room at LabCorp doing my 1 hour glucose test as we speak. FX for good results! Follow-up ultrasound and MW appointment on Thursday.
How are you feeling? Pretty accomplished from this weekend. Got a lot of errands and housework out of the way (and actually managed to meal plan and grocery shop over the weekend which is the first time that's happened in weeks!) Physically I'm feeling pretty good today too. Good start to the third trimester!
Raves/Rants? I took DD and DS to a sibling preparation class offered at the hospital. It was advertised for kids 3-9 years, but was definitely geared towards the younger kids. DS (8) was being pretty sarcastic during it, which the educator was having none of, but the nurse helping out found hilarious. Can't imagine where he got that from 😉. After this class, DD (5) had a rough weekend throwing tantrums and being a general PITA. DH blamed it on the class, saying that it probably made the fact that she's not the baby anymore a little more real. I guess we'll find out if its a little preview of things to come in January.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Work things that I should be working ahead on to get done before baby arrives, but its hard to find the motivation to get started on them because they're both pretty big projects.
Upcoming appointments: Nov 14th for my first every 2 week appt, and an ultrasound
How are you feeling? They didn't call about my GT test, so I am assuming no news is good news. H is traveling a ton to fit it in before baby comes, which is good in theory, but exhausting. Life with 3 kids is so busy, especially when he travels, and it is starting to really sink in how nuts I am to be having a 4th! 😉
Raves/Rants? We have finally decided on a name - Giovanni, Jack for short. I thought we were never going to land on one, so I am feeling so thankful to be able to call him by name when I watch him wiggle around in there.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Everything? I seem to alternate bursts of energy with crippling exhaustion, and the bursts aren't enough to help me keep up with everything. Cleaning stuff, paperwork, I need to call TODAY about getting flu shots for the kids. Life really.
@stashattack sounds like you had a really great shower! With everything leading up to it, I'm glad it all worked out in the end. ❤️
@kbrown2385 I'd be grossed out too. I know it's technically sterile, but it still would gross me out. Glad you got caught up on laundry! It feels never ending some days. Just as you get the last load folded, there's more piled up.
@marebear15 that stinks YH is sick again. Hopefully he can get over this cold and stay healthy for the holidays. And the corn maze sounds like a ton of fun!
Finally getting time to update at the start of the week!
EDD/Weeks + days: 28 weeks 3 days
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue
Baby is the size of a(n): roller blades
Upcoming appointments: Tuesday for the glucose test
How are you feeling? I hate daylight savings time. I'm so exhausted from the time change.
Raves/Rants? We got DD fully moved into her new room and big kid bed! It's been challenging with the time change and I think she's going through something right now too. She didn't nap at all Sunday and woke up hysterical around 10pm. She refused to calm down for DH and needed to be held and rocked with me. Luckily, she slept fine after that. Still waking up at the "normal time" which means 4:30 thanks to the time change.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Work stuff. I have a few things to write before we leave for vacation Friday. And I really need to start telling customers I'm going on maternity leave. But I don't want to until I have a plan. Fun times...
Upcoming appointments: Midwife appointment tomorrow. Start of my 2 week visits.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Switched my work shoes to slip on tennis shoes and don't care about whether they're work appropriate or not at this point.
Raves/Rants? We're going to a Minnesota Vikings game later this month so I'm trying to get as much rest on the weekends as I can. At the same time, my 3 year old and both dogs have become ultra clingy so getting a restful nap on the couch is near impossible.
Also, this is the last week for swim lessons for the 3 year old!!!!!! He doesn't listen very well and being in the water with him is getting frustrating!
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Other than the normal tasks of dishes and laundry, figuring out what I need to do for my short-term disability while I'm on maternity leave.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I'm Blue da ba dee da ba daa da ba dee da ba daa
Baby is the size of a(n): Handle of Grey Goose....Mmmmm Grey Goose
Upcoming appointments: Busy week here, Hospital tour today, reg OB tomorrow, MFM growth scan Weds
How are you feeling? I love my partner but the occasional visit to his mom's means I sleep like a ROCK. I feel great! But that also could have been me relaxing over the weekend. Lil Man's movements were really slowed yesterday, but he's made up for it today so far. I think it was me not drinking coffee (1/3 decaf/60mg caff). He likes it more than anything else I eat or drink.
Raves/Rants? SO needs an intervention! I have more brush than I know what to do with. It's going to cost a fortune to have it hauled off. "I don't mind paying. I did it." Yes, I KNOW you don't mind paying, but I wanted a new mattress, dang it!
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Painting. I've been meaning to paint my room and the kids' bathroom for MONTHS and I just don't wanna. It's not the painting part that bothers me. It's the sanding down the walls to take it to orange peel texture. Also, I've been procrastinating buying baby stuff. I just can't convince my science based brain I'm won't jinx things by buying them. Ex...I brought a travel system, and his movement decreased!!! Science Brain says - see? I told you so! Yeah...that's right...THE SCIENCE SIDE OF ME SAYS THIS!!! Hormones, man...
@cats_in_a_window - DD has been acting out for me too lately. I think it was because I explained to her that I'm going to be Eileen's mommy too, not just her mommy. She did not think that was a fun idea and kept yelling "No MY mommy!"
@MollySm - Yay for picking out a baby name! I have a friend who named her boy Giovanni, but chose the nickname Gio. Jack is a cute nn too!
@persnickity - You were the one thinking about getting the toddler alarm clock right? I was scared of the time change and figured DD would be up at 5am, but I set that clock back and didn't hear one peep out of her until 6am.
@breweber2010 - Hey stranger! It's nice to be on the same thread nowadays. I'm starting my 2 week appointments this week as well. Don't feel bad about changing your work shoes, we gotta do what makes us comfortable.
@FyreFlyeRush - Are you allowed to burn brush in your neighborhood? That's what we did with the majority of our trees when we cleaned out our woods.
@marebear15 I can’t believe yh is sick again! Hopefully it’s not too serious and can be on the mend soon. Maybe a big daily dose of vitamin c will help? Dh complains about the jug of pee but he’s not even home today so it has zero effect on him lol. Also, disappointing you didn’t get funnel cake either but glad you had a good time at the patch.
@cats_in_a_window the sibling class sounds fun! We have our sibling tour of the hospital coming up for ds next week. I’m hoping it helps him when it comes time for me to go to the hospital.
@MollySm exciting you picked a name! I started calling baby boy by his name and I’ve found it’s helping ds realize this is actually happening.
@persnickity good Iuck with the glucose test today! Hopefully yd gets used to her new room soon so everyone can get back to sleeping.
@FyreFlyeRush I sleep much better when dh is gone on his duty nights too.
@kbrown2385 FX for the 24 hour urine catch! I’m going to join the very small minority in voting that it’s meh in the fridge. Gotta do what you gotta do 🤷🏻♀️
@marebear15 sorry DH wasn’t sick, but the pics of DD at the pumpkin patch were the cutest 😍
@cats_in_a_window I’m so not looking forward to the sibling transition for DS. He’s really hot headed anyways
@MollySm glad I’m not the only one procrastinating all the things!
@persnickity daylight savings with kids feels like a punishment. I used to think it was so great too
@breweber2010 I swapped from “professional” shoes to Dansko clogs when I was pregnant with DS and pretty much dared anyone to say anything.
EDD/Weeks + days: 1/23 28w4d
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Pink
Baby is the size of a(n): coconut
Upcoming appointments: 1/11
How are you feeling? I feel like this baby is huge already. I have no room to eat. And sitting is uncomfortable. Really I probably just got spoiled because I didn’t get “big” until pretty late with DS and this is more normal 😭
Raves/Rants? DS went right to church nursery yesterday like a champ and it was such a relief! Usually any daycare looking place sends him running and screaming. But yesterday he wanted nothing to do with me and loved the nursery. Hallelujah. My rant is that people are stupid. I put a picture of DS wearing a hat and trying to drink my coffee on Facebook. A family friend commented asking if I was sure he identifies as a boy 🙄. First of all, he’s 2. He has no idea what a boy is. And he was wearing a hat his dad has also worn. And drinking coffee. So it’s just a wtf comment all around
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Everything. Like literally everything. But especially shopping for baby
@MrsJessS Lol! I'm too cheap to invest in a new pair of shoes when I have some that will work. I'm an attorney, and for the most part I don't think most of the judges I see care about my shoes. I also know/work with most of their wives and they would back me up. Gotta love my small practice area
@stashattack so glad you had a wonderful shower!! It sounds like your daughter is very loved by many already 😊
@kbrown2385 yay for getting laundry done! Yuck for urine in the fridge lol
@marebear15 glad you got your house cleaned! That's my project for today. It sounds like you had fun at the pumpkin patch. I hope YH gets better soon!
@catsinawindow good luck on your GD test! I hope DD was just having a righ weekend and not having an internal meltdown about not being the baby anymore. I remember losing that title at 6 and it was hard at first but I loved my baby brother so much! I'm sure your DD will feel the same when baby arrives.
@MollySm I would also assume no news is good news! I love the name Giovanni! And Jack for short is so cute!
@persnickity I also hate daylight savings. Ok, that's only half true. I enjoy it in the Spring! 😉
@breweber2010 ooh, a real NFL game! That sounds so fun!! I've never been to one but it's a definite bucket list item. To see the Giants though.
@FyreFlyeRush I also sleep so much better on the weekends when DH is away for his reserve weekends. Sorry you have to wait on a new mattress!
EDD/Weeks + days: Jan 25th. 28wks2days
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Blue
Baby is the size of a(n): Acorn Squash
Upcoming appointments: Nov 6th for my echocardiogram. I feel it's unnecessary but the main doctor at my OB (whom I've only met twice) wants to take every precaution because of my weight which puts me at higher risk for everything. She had me get a fetal echocardiogram which again, wasn't necessary as all looked good at the anatomy scan, but still nice to see his little heart is just perfect and now I have to get one for myself because she says my weight puts me at higher risk for heart enlargement. I mean, whatever, I'll take extra tests but if I'm being honest it kinda pisses me off that she keeps assuming things are wrong with me just because of my weight. She also referred me to do a sleep study because she's assuming I probably have sleep apnea, again, just because of my weight. She's creating all these extra appointments for me with other specialists because I know she looks at me and thinks "you're obese so clearly you're all kinds of fucked up" it's frustrating because dammit, I'm actually relatively healthy despite my size and I hate the assumptions. Oops, this should have been in the rant section. Sorry.
How are you feeling? Pretty good! My mood is improving and I'm feeling some energy again.
Raves/Rants? Today is my first day of no longer having to go to work! I am celebrating by giving my house a much needed deep cleaning.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Decluttering. I am basically a hoarder and there's so much I want to get rid of before baby arrives but the hoarder in me has to go through everything because I get anxiety throwing things away without seeing what it is first. It'll feel good to get it done but the prospect of starting feels a little overwhelming.
@MrsJessS, UGH. I'm sorry. People say the dumbest things. I raised DS1 with no gender norms, and it drove people crazy. I mean I dressed him in boy clothes and we called him a boy and use "HE" pronouns, but I didn't force gender stereotypes down his throat. He liked his toe nails painted, so we painted his toes nails. He loved Strawberry Shortcake, so he had Strawberry Shortcake toys. He also had trucks, and Thomas trains, and legos, but all people saw was traditional gender roles. "You're going to make him trans" "You're confusing him!" Guess what...he's not confused. He knows he's a boy, and I'm pretty sure he already figured out his sexuality since he told me:
"I think I'm going to like girls, because I like boobs."
@FyreFlyeRush DS has always loved rough and tumble things...through zero prompting on my end. He also likes to play with my makeup brushes and beauty blender. This morning he was running around wearing my necklace because “shiny” and “balls.” The lady commenting has no kids and I just want to tell her she should know by this point in life that toddlers don’t identify as anything except strange 😂
@cats_in_a_window Your son sounds wonderful. OMG I would have totally appreciated the snark LOL. I live for snark.
@MollySm yay for the baby name!! I love it! It's adorable!
@persnickity thanks! Everyone enjoyed themselves. There was tension between the two moms, mostly I was able to ignore it and it settled out. So I'm going to work with my therapist this week to figure out how to navigate that better in the future.
@ma@marebear15 what is it with men and overworking themselves when they are sick. I swear sometimes I have to threaten duck taping to the bed for DH to rest to get better so he can go back to being not sick anymore.
@MrsJessS happy your DS went straight to nursery. Maybe it'll become a permanent change! Wishful thinking 😉 as for your rant, what in the actual F kind of comment is that? People are so weird and paranoid about other people's genders that they're now worried about what a 2yr old identifies as? A 2 yr old doesn't identify as anything! Honestly, kids are just kids until they become self aware. You can dress your son up in tutus and in the end if he's a boy, he'll identify as a boy. Clothes and toys don't change a person's gender identity. If that were true then we wouldn't have transgender people at all, the majority of who were raised as the sex they were born and guess what? The clothes and toys didn't matter, they identified how they wanted to either way.
@MrsJessS the gender comment is so freaking dumb. I keep telling MIL that I'll take all of DH's baby clothes that she still has. I don't care if they are "boy" clothes. She's a baby. She doesn't know WTF she's wearing. And my ultra conservative dad agrees with me on this one. But anywho I mentioned something about that at my shower again, and someone chimed in saying that if I do that, it's asking for her to be a lesbian. I laughed because of the ridiculousness of the statement. And then made the quip that at least I wouldn't have to worry about any unplanned pregnancies in that case :P But in all seriousness, who the eff cares if she likes girls. What happened to happy and healthy? And 2) again, SHE HAS NO IDEA WHAT SHE'S WEARING. It's literally for us as adults to have an excuse to play dress up again and to keep them protected from the elements. People need to chill.
@MrsJessS - Aww thanks, I loved looking at comparisons of last year's pumpkin patch photos. And you look fantastic and small for 28 weeks, I think. Did that person on Facebook ask that because the hat was purplish-pink? Seriously?? People can be so weird. DD loves everything trucks and dinosaurs, so I got her trucks to play with and SIL found some super cute pink dino pajamas for her birthday. People forcing "identification" on toddlers don't know toddlers.
Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow with the midwife (so at 32 weeks) I should be starting bi weekly appointments until I'm 36 weeks (so technically I should have one at 34 weeks then 36 weeks then it goes weekly no?) I Have a feeling they are going to push me to make the appointment every 3 weeks since "you've had a healthy pregnancy, previous birth was good should be fine to do 2-3 week appointments. umm I don't know if I am comfortable with that even if it is the new standard. What happens at 36 weeks is she going to say we don't need to do weekly right away or what...ughhh
How are you feeling? Anyone have mild period like cramps in the morning? Could it be from lack of water over night? Always make's me worry
Raves/Rants? Rave: finally went for my egyptian sugaring,I cannot see anything down there so shaving is just not happening, now that I'm clear for a couple weeks! haha Rave again: DD is fully in her new room and that must have been the smoothest transition possible. So many people said it would be a big issue since she is past 3 but to be honest it was so easy the only people who found it hard was DH and I. She said now when the new baby comes it's going to be crying all night and she get's to sleep peacefully while mum and dad have to wake up hahahah. I believe she was just ready for it
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Everything to do with the new baby, names, setting up the room, buying items etc. I will definitely be starting now this weekend since DD is fully transitioned.
@stashattack glad you had a great shower!! @kbrown2385 when are they saying you might deliver? @marebear15 have a great OB appointment and so lucky you get an ultrasound! @cats_in_a_window good luck with your glucose test
Baby is the size of a(n): can of Pringles? dammit now I want Pringles.
Upcoming appointments: tomorrow at MFM for GD appointment and growth scan. First birthing class tomorrow night
How are you feeling? Mostly okay! Getting lower back and hip pain and starting to get more leg cramps, but overall I'm feeling as good as I can. Got my TDAP yesterday and my arm is a little sore, but not bad.
Raves/Rants? Myself and my mother (who is hosting my shower) have gotten a few texts and comments that "there's not enough BIG stuff left on the registry" and look I know this is a first world problem, and I appreciate that my family and friends want to spoil these girls, but baby things individually are just not that expensive. I know getting them diaper cream and burp cloths or getting me nipple cream isn't very LOOK MY GIFT IS THE BEST but I wouldn't put it on the registry if I didn't need it! I've just been telling everyone to package a few smaller items in a gift bag until they reach their desired spend (whether it's $50 or $25 or $75) and I will be very happy and appreciative because they are things I don't need to buy myself!
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? Finding a pediatrician. I need to get that done this weekend.
@stashattack so happy you had a wonderful shower! I know it was causing you some grief beforehand. @marebear15 so sorry your DH is sick AGAIN! @kbrown2385 Fx for positive test results for you! Have they given you an indication of around what week they would aim for babies to arrive yet? @catsinawindow Fingers crossed on your glucose results! @MollySm love the name! @persnickity good luck with your test! @MrsJessS people really do say the dumbest things. Agree with everyone on here- kids are just kids!
@stashattack you can never have too many onsies with poop blowouts or spit up in the beginning. Side note, onsies are made to be rolled down the shoulders if there is a blowout so it doesn't have to go above the head! I didn't know this until my second child! @kbrown2385 my husband gagged every time I had to pull that urine jug out. I get it's gross but its not like he is the one collecting it! @marebear15 I have been cleaning the weirdest things! Things that wouldn't normally bother me have been making me panic about it not being clean enough. Hormones are crazy! @cats_in_a_window I hope your glucose test results come out good! @MollySm Love the name! @persnickity DST totally sucks. Hoping the early wake ups will gradually go back to normal. @FyreFlyeRush We have a brush pile in our back yard that we are just waiting to take care of in the spring. I don't have the time or energy to deal with it right now. Plus it's already snowed a few times so I'm not touching it. @MrsJessS That is such a weird question to ask about a 2 year old. Major eye roll on their part. @peppyj9 My doctor is overly cautious but I would straight up ask this doctor if it has to do with your weight or an actual concern with the baby. Unless you suspected sleep apnea or had known issues that is a little weird to suggest you just get one. All these tests do cost a lot of money. @amb0924 I got my Tdap on Friday and my arm is still red and sore! It definitely hurt more than the flu shot!
EDD/Weeks + days: Jan 24th, 28+3
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green
Baby is the size of a(n): Eggplant
Upcoming appointments: This Friday. I get seen weekly and sometimes twice now.
Raves/Rants? I never know where to update so I'll do it here. Friday was a long day. I went in for a checkup and non-stress test. Blood pressure was borderline high and baby had heart deceleration's on the non-stress test so I was sent to the hospital for a biophysical ultrasound. Baby stepped up and passed that test but it was a pretty stressful afternoon. They wonder why my blood pressure is so high.
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? I don't have any big items for baby. My oldest (4.5) doesn't want to move her bedroom in our finished basement so baby will be in our room for awhile until we can put the two girls together (4.5 and 1.5 now) with bunk beds. I'm hoping to order a mini crib and mattress for our room today but I also need to purchase a new infant carseat and another glider for our room. My youngest still likes to be rocked so I have a hard time taking the one from her room because it will just make me mad it's not there when its needed. I have so much I need to do to get ready for this baby but I just haven't done it yet.
@mispanda ooh, sorry you had a stressful Friday! I'm glad baby seems to be doing well though! I had an issue with my blood pressure as well a few weeks ago and they had ne do the urine test for preeclampsia (negative) and continued to monitor and it steadily came back down over a few weeks and is now totally normal. (I has started taking baby aspirin prior to the high blood pressure and continue you take it but don't know if that is what's helping it come back down to normal) No idea or explanation as to why it was briefly elevated.🤷♀️
Regarding the main doctor, I will have to ask what her deal is, but I basically never see her, only my regular OB. She mentioned sleep apnea because when she came to see the results of the anatomy scan, I was laying on my back and she said my breathing sounded labored. I didn't feel any different and didn't feel like I was breathing heavily or anything but she's the doctor so I just went with it. She did at the time talk about my weight and how "I'm not judging, some women gain a lot during pregnancy" and I had to let her know that I was already overweight, this wasn't baby weight. 🙄 She mentioned seeing a weight loss specialist after having baby and I had to tell her I'm just here for the baby right now, nothing else. Then she viewed the anatomy scan, said baby's heart looked fine but because of my weight and my apparent labored breathing while on my back, she wanted an echo "just to be sure" and then had me schedule an echo for myself and the sleep study. It was all kind of a whirlwind and I should've picked up the red flags with her continued comments on my weight, but I was just following doctor's orders. Of course as my appointments started trickling in (recently had to see a pulmonologist to schedule the sleep study) and I'm being carted off from one specialist to another I'm starting to get irritated because as I expected, I'm fine!! The baby is fine! There are currently no issues other than him being big for his gestational age but this doctor is seemingly assuming that my heart is failing and I'm not getting enough oxygen. It's maddening. I'm getting angry just thinking about it.
@MrsJessS people are complete idiots. He's a toddler who wears clothes based on whatever random thing is going through his head that day. A friend of mine, her son would only wear pink boots, because in his mind, they were pig boots and he was obsessed with pigs. DD wears clothes from the boys department all the time. She loves trucks and construction equipment just as much as she loves fuzzy animals on shirts and patterned leggings.
@mispanda like pee is the least of my worries. It’s not any worse than the vomit I’ve caught in my hands before 🤷🏻♀️
@peppyj9 that all seems excessive and vaguely familiar. I didn’t have to go to the extremes of a sleep study or echo but when I was pregnant with ds and he was measuring big, the drs couldn’t believe that maybe I was just having a big baby. I’d maybe start questioning all these tests and if you feel like they are excessive, there is nothing saying you have to do them.
@amb0924 the last time I spoke to mfm they said around 36-37 weeks. I have an ob appt and an mfm growth scan so that is on my list of things to discuss with both of them. Some new info regarding baby girl has been brought to my attention last week so that will be added into the discussion to see if it plays a part.
To do with your shower rant; I am definitely the person that buys all the random stuff no one will buy. Like I know you’re going to need butt paste, bath stuff, breast pads for leaks, a nail clipper, Tylenol etc., night as well get it for you! I don’t understand why people have to act like it’s a popularity contest 🙄.
How are you feeling? mostly ok. heartburn is generally killing me at night and i find it really hard to get comfortable, a lot of tossing and turning.
Raves/Rants? Rants - cashiers commenting on how low my bump is, how big i am, how i'll never make it to my due date can all piss away off! Seriously STOP IT!! I am fully aware of my size right now and it is never ok to comment on a random strangers size (or even someone close for that matter)! wtf is wrong with people! im at the stage where im ready to throat punch the next person who asks me when im due or how long i have left because i know their next comment will just be downright rude!
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? hospital bags. i started washing all the new stuff i have bought and dd's newborn stuff yesterday and got maybe halfway through it. All vests & babygro's are now washed, dried and folded. I still have a few bits and pieces to get for myself too but i went and bought a couple of packs of cheap black knickers today so i feel like ive at least made a start!
@peppyj9 im sorry your doc is being a sizeist dick. As long as you & baby boy are doing ok, i wouldnt be following her orders given that she has only seen you twice & clearly doesnt know you or your medical history.
@mispanda that sounds like a lot! I hope going forward your appointments get less stressful!
@MrsJessS That would make me very sweary! What a ridiculous comment to make about a toddler! Dd had both a spiderman costume & a princess dress for halloween, has toy cars and dolls, none of these things indicate that she will identify as male or female going forward. Rolling my eyes so hard at that!
@kbrown2385 hope everything's okay with the new information on your baby girl.
@leprechaunlady I don't understand why everyone needs to comment or thinks it's okay. I really want to turn it around the next time. Sometime says something about how big I am and then I say something right back. When they get offended, you commented on my belly so I thought it was okay to comment on yours.
@peppyj9 I would definitely push back. If you had a family history or other tests showed possible issues, then fine. But without other medical evidence, I'm not doing all these random tests for zero reason.
@mispanda that's quite the Friday! Glad everything ended up okay, but I'm sure it was very nerve wracking!
@persnickity thank you! I should have a better understanding of what it means tomorrow so I can update then. It’s mostly speculation on my part since no one has said anything.
@MrsJessS somehow I missed you! The ignorance is strong with that one 🙄. Why do people feel they can just say anything that comes to mind??
@MrsJessS what a ridiculous thing to say to someone! Let kids be kids, making comments about a kid's gender is what will give them a complex. Yeesh!
@peppyj9 your doctor sounds super judgy. I dont know if I could handle any comments like that, so good on you for having the patience
@amb0924 I also got my tdap and flu shot. Flu shot hurt going in and turned red, puffy and itchy. The tdap swelled up to look like a second shoulder for about a week.
@stashattack I also got a lot of clothes, despite not having registered for any... People got me whatever they wanted without giving me receipts. So I'm a little flustered, but thankful they got us anything at all. I'm quite conflicted.

Upcoming appointments: OB on Wednesday. First apt after only 2 weeks
How are you feeling? Still getting dizzy and out of breath. A little stiff in the joints but overall well.
Rave I only like when people who knew me before baby talk to me about the baby. Mostly because recently people have been feeding into my ego and saying how I'm all baby no extra weight (which is not true but I will take it) Rant Nervous about milk supply. I know I should just trust my body and let it be, but I cant help it!
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? I finally started sorting clothes and washing. Key word is started, meaning I have several organized piles just sitting around the house driving my DH mad. Tee hee.
@kbrown2385 fx everything is fine with baby girl! Also, I'm measuring right on track for a singleton and I'm immensely uncomfortable so I can't even imagine what it's like to be measuring at term! Hang in there!
@stashattack yay for a great shower! It caused so much stress so I'm so relieved that it all worked out! Also, I've been all about the sorting. I've got plastic bins that are labeled with all the different size ranges in the closet. 0-3 months will be in the drawers but everything else is folded and waiting in a bin. It was kind of fun and made me feel more on top of things.
@marebear15 That sounds like such a fun pumpkin patch adventure!
@catsinawindow I did my glucose test today too! Hope we both pass. The idea of the holidays on a diabetic diet sounds like it's own form of torture.... Additionally, I'm also procrastinating work projects that need to be done before I leave....
@FyreFlyeRush I can so relate to the "science brain" vs. "hormones" debate. It happens all to frequently over here. I get so disappointed in myself sometimes hah! Also DS1 and his comment on girls got me laughing!
@MollySm Hopeful that no news is good news with the GT test.
@MrsJessS Uggh those gender things really bother me. I won't lie that it is my primary motivation for being team green. I can't stand people making assumptions about my child before they are even born. My SIL gave us all my nephews clothes. If we have a girl, you better believe that girl will be in those clothes most of the time and I will be a happy camper. Sounds like you have a good attitude about it but boy it would irk me too!
@peppyj9 I don't mind cautious doctors but they don't need to go looking for stuff that isn't there. You absolutely can still deny the tests. I understand the whirlwind at the doctor though and then realizing why you were uncomfortable with what happened later. Totally happened to me with my MFM. You got this and so glad that everything is normal!
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k I have had the BH in the morning....not usually period cramps because it was more in the front but usually it was dehydration for me. I need so much water these days!
@amb0924 That's so weird about the registry. I mean I get the whole wanting to get the cute stuff...but I imagine the big stuff will be left on my registry. Tell them to get you a gift card for incidentals if they don't know. Then you can buy whatever you want with it and they will never know hah!
@mispanda That sounds so nerve wracking but glad everything is looking okay now.
@leprechaunlady I bet the twin bump is making people feel so much more inclined to comment but they should really learn it's not their business. At this point, I'm constantly surprised when I mention my pregnancy and people haven't noticed. I don't know if they are feigning surprise or what....it's such a weird place to be!
@persnickity as an Oregon resident I'm hopeful that next spring will be the last time we do a time change. I'm so over it!

Upcoming appointments: Had my 28 week OB today. It went super well. I think if I wasn't a patient of my OB we would be friends which is kind of frustrating because how else would I meet her lol. We went over my ultrasound results and she was pleased and I was pleased that nothing looked amiss. We are still going to induce and once the call schedule gets sorted for January then we will schedule that. My BP looks good so I can still take the Sudafed which is a necessity at this point. I had the TDAP and all the other third tri screening tests. Though I didn't have a urine test. Is that normal? Now I'm on to biweekly appointments until 36 weeks at which point I will be weekly.
How are you feeling? Had massive sinus headaches for the past few days but extra hyrdation/steam has helped a bit. Emotionally, so much better though I still freak myself out when the baby doesn't move a lot. Most of the time if I drink water this helps the movement.
Raves/Rants? Not really a rant or a rave because it was just funny. We ran out of dishwasher detergent yesterday so unbeknownst to me, DH used Dawn instead in the dishwasher. Well it pretty much exploded with bubbles. They were all over the floor. DH freaked out and cleaned it up and it was fine. We ran it through a rinse a couple more times and cleaned up the flood. DH commented that the floor never looked so good hah!
Question: Doc asked about contraception post pregnancy. Honestly I hadn't given it much thought. We talked options and I haven't ever had an IUD before but I'm considering the Mirena put in 6 weeks post delivery. She said it is pretty easy then since the cervix is still pretty open and you don't have to remember or worry about it. Anyone done it?
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately? All the things. Lots of work things like helping people get set up to take over my courses in the winter term because I'm trying to survive this term. Also, will preparation.....gotta do that one of these days.
@biolprof my BFF has had it since her daughter was born in 2012 and swears by it. I've known to many women who have had failed iuds, so it's a no for me.
@biolprof I went back on the combined pill after dd as i wasnt breastfeeding & it always worked for me. This time round ive asked about having my tubes tied & also talking to dh about having the snip. We are most definitely done & I dont want to take any risks!
@biolprof - I got Mirena for the first time after my last baby was born. I really liked it. I had used the pill most of my life, and done temping for some short periods. It took awhile for my body to adjust - spotting for weeks--but after that I had no more periods, which was awesome. When we were ready to try for this baby, I had it taken out and my body went right back to normal I will definitely get it again.
@biolprof lots of people like it, but I prefer a pill. It helps me feel more in control. I took the mini pill whole breastfeeding last time. This time, DH is getting snipped and I'm not going to take anything.
@FyreFlyeRush it's always amazing how science brain can turn so irrational at time. I have the same thing happen. ☺️
@biolprof lol at yh putting dawn in the dishwasher. Dh did that once when we first started living together, even after I said he shouldn’t do it. He learned his lesson pretty quick. I had the Paraguard iud (copper, hormone free one) and liked not having to think about b.c. at all. I got it removed for various reasons and switched to FAM. We will be using that until we make a decision on whether Dh gets snipped or not.
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k - I usually have some BH at night and I think it's from all the bloating from meals throughout the day. Yours definitely be because of lack of water.
@amb04006 - Oh that would bother me that no one wanted to buy the small stuff. That's literally my whole registry since I'm having a "sprinkle" this time. The first item bought of my registry was a complete health kit (hairbrush, comb, nail clippers, etc.).
@mispanda - Exactly! I was shocked at how emotional I was about the house not being cleaned. Like I legit had a panic attack. I'm sorry about the stressful appointment you had. With my first DD, we had a couple of appointments where her heart rate was under 100, but she would always pull it up in time before they would have sent me to ultrasound.
@leprechaunlady - You would think that after people found out you were having twins they wouldn't say anything else. But people can be so rude!
@biolprof - I'm dying at your DH using Dawn. Isn't that the classic husband-goof 😂
AFM, I was afraid I wasn't going to get my reward ultrasound because the doctor was running a hour behind (first day back from vacation), but he did one anyways! Baby girl is still a girl, but we didn't get any good profile shots because she had her head buried in my hip with a leg and an arm blocking the view. She wants to remain a mystery!

Im
hoping she calms down significantly afterwards because she’s driving me crazy.

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green
@stashattack hurray for a great baby shower!
@kbrown2385 FX for good 24 hour urine results. I did two of those with DS and they were such a PITA.
@marebear15 sounds like a great weekend! Its such a relief to get things checked off the "to do" list at home.

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant

The lady commenting has no kids and I just want to tell her she should know by this point in life that toddlers don’t identify as anything except strange 😂

Rave: finally went for my egyptian sugaring,I cannot see anything down there so shaving is just not happening, now that I'm clear for a couple weeks! haha
Rave again: DD is fully in her new room and that must have been the smoothest transition possible.
@kbrown2385 when are they saying you might deliver?
@marebear15 have a great OB appointment and so lucky you get an ultrasound!
@cats_in_a_window good luck with your glucose test

@MollySm love the name!
@persnickity good luck with your test!
@MrsJessS people really do say the dumbest things. Agree with everyone on here- kids are just kids!
@MollySm Love the name!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Purple
Babies are the size of (n): motorcycle helmets / platypus / loaf of bread
Upcoming appointments: tomorrow - endocrine clinic.
I hope going forward your appointments get
less stressful!
@marebear15 I hope dh is feeling better soon!
@stashattack im so glad your shower went well after all the hassle beforehand!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: blue
Baby is the size of a(n): license plate
Upcoming appointments: OB on Wednesday. First apt after only 2 weeks
How are you feeling?
Still getting dizzy and out of breath. A little stiff in the joints but overall well.
Rave
I only like when people who knew me before baby talk to me about the baby. Mostly because recently people have been feeding into my ego and saying how I'm all baby no extra weight (which is not true but I will take it)
Rant
Nervous about milk supply. I know I should just trust my body and let it be, but I cant help it!
GTKY: What have you been procrastinating lately?
I finally started sorting clothes and washing. Key word is started, meaning I have several organized piles just sitting around the house driving my DH mad. Tee hee.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Green!
Baby is the size of a(n): Bratz doll

@FyreFlyeRush it's always amazing how science brain can turn so irrational at time. I have the same thing happen. ☺️
