Someone asked me how I became pregnant. Now, because the last time this happened the person asking me assumed I'm lesbian, I answered rather snarkily...and described one of the probable nights of human reproduction in detail. They shut up.
@kbrown2385 - Ooh, I've never checked to see if my neighborhood has one. I bet we'd be the ones they are complaining about, seeing as we've already had several calls about all the "construction" going on.
@marebear15 People seriously have nothing better to do than complain. The current crisis is the panhandling that occurs on the closest major road to us. Like anyone but the city has control over it 🙄
@kbrown2385, my mom said the one for our neighborhood is full of "We saw a teen walking down STREET at 4pm in a HOODIE!!!!" There's a major high school at the top of said street...that lets out at 345pm...and it was 45 degrees.
"I called the police to report a car has been parked in front of X house for three days." and the crazy former Marine on my parents' street "I measured the lawn at 123 Drive and it was over the city code limits"
YET...they missed the day when 8 houses got broken into on STREET, or failed to notice the drug/arms dealers on "Drive" (note, the Marine lives ACROSS from the dealer's house), and the methlab further down "Drive". SMH
@FyreFlyeRush - Oh my word, your neighborhood sounds like mine. We got called on to the county for "building a structure in our front lawn." Truth was this property was super overgrown when we bought it (it's a rental next to us), and we had done so much clearing out that the tiny house/livable shed was actually visible for the first time in 20 years. We got slapped with a couple citations and had to prove that the shed had been there since the mid-80s. DH was so mad at the nosy lady that called us in, because we are legitimately helping the neighborhood by fixing up this property. While we were fixing that issue, the county guy mentioned that there had been a few calls about "construction" as well, but he knew we had all the proper permits pulled and everything for this master suite. Thankfully, the neighbors surrounding us (touching our property) all love the stuff DH has done to both our house and the rental and he's fixed 2 out of 5 neighbors' fences and just got an offer for the other 3.
Oh man I am not a fan of those Nextdoor things. I mean in premise they are fine but it just means we assume the worst and don't really ever talk to our neighbors. My MIL got one of those Ring things and she saw someone come to the door they didn't recognize and then had to leave our house for a 5+ hour drive that night in case they came back to break in. I mean to be honest I would rather catch them come back on camera and call the police then rather than have them come back. Plus they cut off their only visit at our place in 12 months a whole day early and then expected us to be okay with their overreaction....oh well!
We don't live in a neighborhood, but got invited to the one for the neighborhood behind us. Definitely don't feel the need to join a group that doesn't impact us at all.
@FyreFlyeRush there's a lot going on in your neighborhood apparently. It is funny that they monitor the kid not wearing a sweatshirt and the grass height, but miss the drug dealer.
@marebear15 I remember you talking about the crazy lady. It's amazing how much hassle you guys had to go through with that.
We're planning on moving DD to her new room fully this weekend. She's been napping there on weekends for a month or so. I'm a bit terrified at what sleep issues this might cause.
@persnickity, I live in a major city, in a busy side of town. The drug dealer was actually hard. We grew together. He and SO were in the same year of school.
It's big trash day. I left my SO unattended. There's now no carpet in my house and he wanted to pull up the perfectly good parque wood floor in the now ONLY room with flooring. And I lost a couch. And DS1's bed is on the curb. AND he investigated the garage. *sigh* I now have Stark white floors to match my Stark white walls. I might lose my skull.
Note - we have a queen bed for DS1, I just was going to wait to put it up.
@biolprof, Yup. I keep telling him he's nesting and he just keeps telling me it's my imagination. He CANNOT be left unattended or he goes NUTS. He brought a CHAINSAW home from his mom's to clear the brush from the backyard AND asked my dad to help him cut down the palmtree in the FRONT yard...the 30' tall with a 3' wide trunk palmtree.
EDIT - I wouldn't have believed until I saw with my own eyes sympathetic pregnancy, but MAN does he have symptoms galore...weight gain, food cravings, moodiness, insomnia...some of that is part and parcel of being a combat vet, but I also know his past and our loss in Jan mean he's at a higher risk for developing sympathetic pregnancy. He is appalled by the idea.
@FyreFlyeRush that makes a lot more sense then. I'm picturing small town nosey neighbors.
I'm sorry he ripped out flooring and got rid of the bed before you were fully ready. It definitely sounds like he's in denial about nesting. It's cute that he's doing these things and annoying at the same time. Haha
EDIT - Deleted post to make it clearer... I had to leave the company I currently work for when our mission was sunset in 2018, and move to a new contract and a new company doing the same thing. However, the new company wasn't very good. So, I spent a year looking for a job with my old company I could apply for. I finally found one. They hired me back at my old salary, but I'm no longer management. Also, this contract is set to expire on Dec 31, and I would have to transition to another company ALL OVER AGAIN.
Today, I applied for a job I have no chance of getting JUST to show the powers that be how dedicated I am to this company, and that I'm interested in continuing my management path, in the hopes that if they don't get the contract here, they can repurpose me elsewhere. *crossing my fingers*
Y’all. I’m going to end up on an episode of Snapped. (I’ve never actually seen it but I think it’s still a thing?) DS was in bed with me by 1am, has to put his face against mine and grind them together every hour or so all night, had to get up and go to the bathroom with me at 4am, and proceeded to get in and out of bed repeatedly between 7 and 8....then dumped the cat food all over the floor. Oh yeah. I had just refilled the cat food because she was throwing at fit at 4 am also. And the floor is carpet.
TL:DR I got about 3 minutes of sleep last night and my patience is already gone for the day
Everyone wants to make the pregnant woman cry today. I've been up since 2, so I'm tired. SO called at 430 because he had a really, REALLY bad nightmare about the delivery. When I called him at lunch to see how he was doing, he was distant and vaguely irritated at me calling. then, the place I wanted lunch from was struggling with the concept of my order: Chicken strips with hash browns instead of fries and an unsweet tea...the same thing I always get. So I drove off. I got a call from my MFM and I had to cancel that appt because they're out of network, but I decided to ask about the ultrasound my insurance covered AFTER I'd paid for it. They argued with me for 5m before checking the account to see it had a NEGATIVE BALANCE. They're refunding it. SO just admitted he ignored my texts (only sent 3, one conversation). I need a reason not to go home early, cry into a hot bath, and then disappear into a romance novel.
@MrsJessS . I am in solidarity with you today with the no sleep because of small child. I really don't understand their insistence on face to face sleeping. Now I am at work with a bunch of other peoples' small children...
@biolprof I hate sharing my personal bubble period. Having him in bed with me is awful. It’s like sleeping with a blender...and I’m already touched out by the time we get up in the morning. The face breathing just adds to the frustration
anyone else want to tell the random drive by knottie to go buy her own shit rather than wanting to share her registry in the hope that strangers will buy her stuff? No? Just me? 😂
eta - apparently I can’t spell this early in the morning 🤷🏻♀️
@leprechaunlady my philosophy is that it is probably not worth my time to respond. I mean we are all busy, who needs to actually respond at this point lol.

This is actually my POV, too. I just rolled my eyes at it at the "sex" one.
Re: Weekly Randoms 10/28-11/3
I carved my pumpkin last night & am really pleased with how it turned out! Full disclosure - im in no way artistic & used a stencil.
@leprechaunlady looks awesome! We still need to get our pumpkin

This mornings 3am insomnia led me to get started on my Christmas shopping list hah!

@MrsJessS face to face sleeping. That would not fly with me. I hate breathing in my face lol!
