For STM I love this double stroller. DS was 18 months when my DS2 was born and this has been a lifesaver. It’s pretty light and easy to use; a lot of configurations, can fit thru doorways, lots of storage. I still have it in my van pretty much all the time and use it wherever we go and they are 2 and 3 now.

  • @pirateduck You do want to be careful jostling a baby around a lot, but I wouldn't say you have to avoid grass or anything before a year. But with a May baby, you may want to just be taking walks on the sidewalk during your maternity leave. Again, though, with Amazon two-day delivery you can wait until you have the baby and have a use case in mind and then just order one up.

@catem07 where I live a lot of the roads aren't even paved :/

@pirateduck None of our roads are paved, and we mostly used a jogging stroller that the infant seat snapped into.  It has suspension on it, and the gravel bumps are not aggressive enough to cause any issues.  In fact, DS loved the slight vibration of walking on the gravel roads and it pretty much always put him to sleep.  They just don't want you doing like... aggressive off-road jogging when they're infants.  A walk on a gravel road is totally fine.

  • You can definitely use a stroller - but definitely no running! babies head/neck control is not strong enough until around 6 months and I think even on a paved road it's going to be a little bumpy and their neck/head will be jostling around. I think this is the same reason bike trailers do not allow infants to ride or people to put a bucket seat in the trailer. I know Thule sells an infant attachment, but it's supposed to only be for walking - not actually bike riding.
  • @allywat thanks for the rec on a double! I feel super confused about that we will want - we will have a 22 month gap between DD and the baby. We do a lot of walking and also commute downtown for daycare by train right now, so something small and light is valuable, but also has to be somewhat sturdy to survive our walk. We’ve been using our citymini or an umbrella stroller right now.

In terms of options I have considered, side by side doubles look WIDE, in line look heavy or super expensive. Maybe we will just stick with the strollers we have for now and baby wear when the baby is little and then figure it out. Since we don’t know our childcare situation for next summer yet, it’s hard to totally anticipate our needs. Any suggestions from those who have been there?

I found the Nuna Mixx Pipa lite at Nordstrom and pottery barn. Anyone seen or used this one I liked that it’s a whole travel set:

  • @babyfoxden10 the thing with the pipa lite car seat is that you can’t use it without the base, so it’s not great if you’ll be traveling by air or want to put it in an Uber or taxi or someone else’s car.
