Re: 1st/2nd trimester check-in week of October 14

  • Hey everyone! I don’t always remember to check in here. Hope everyone is doing well!

    • How far along/EDD? 15+2. 4/4/20
    • How are you feeling this week? Not bad. I think I’m finally getting some 2nd trimester energy. I even took yoga on Sunday which felt amazing!
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? I think I’m getting sick (again). And I’m sure it won’t be the last time before I give birth either
    • Any upcoming appointments? Not until my next prenatal on the 30th and then anatomy scan on Nov 4th.
    • GTKY: Now that most of us are finally getting fall weather, what’s you’re go-to warm beverage? Coffee. I drink half caff so I can still have 2 cups a day!
    ***BFP & Child Warning***

    Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
    IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs
IVF ER (July 2016) = 7 PGS normal embryos
    FET #1 (Sept 2016) = BFP! DD born 5/30/17
    FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN
    FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
  • Hi! Hope everyone is having a good week ☺️

@wifeinraleigh28 I am so happy to hear you are doing well! What kind of sick are you?

    • How far along/EDD? 16+3. 3/27/20
    • How are you feeling this week? This has just really been a struggle for me. I ended up in the hospital last week with a bad allergic reaction to who knows what, and now I think my thyroid is acting up again bc I’ve been throwing up a few times a day even with my nausea meds and am super fatigued.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? I want to rant bc I can’t seem to be healthy for more than a few days at a time but I am going to RAVE. I had a 16 week US today and baby boy was moving around like crazy and is measuring almost a week bigger at 7oz, which is a huge relief my Graves Disease isn’t affecting his growth or weight thus far.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Endocrinologist next Monday for my thyroid checkup and then November 7th for my 20 week US.
    • GTKY: Now that most of us are finally getting fall weather, what’s you’re go-to warm beverage? Starbucks Chai Tea Latte and Dunkins decaf with pumpkin swirl. 🎃
    Happy fall y’all!

  • Good morning everyone! Well at least it’s already Tuesday morning here!
@PoeMasque thanks for getting us started!
We do seem to have stalled getting new members after March... I’ve been trying to drum up some “extra business”!
Oh and not sure why but the tag hasn’t worked for me for the last few weeks. Sometimes the copy paste after a long time does that.

@wifeinraleigh28 oh no to getting sick again! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my whole autoimmune protocol is going to keep me safe from bugs the whole pregnancy... but I think I might be dreaming!

@akak23 oh I’m sorry you’re being sick again. Hope it’s not your thyroid. But great that baby seems to be growing undeterred!

How far along/EDD? 19+3 7th March How are you feeling this week? Symptoms wise the constipation is definitely most troublesome. But even then 2 days I’m good and only the next 1-2 days is when the trouble hits. I really never knew constipation was so painful. Guess it’s preparing me for after birth!!! And this pregnancy rhinitis - it’s just so annoying - I feel like a snotty 2yo the whole time! But otherwise I am really trying to embrace every symptom and feeling.Rants/Raves? Questions? DH made me pancakes in bed yesterday - now that’s a way to start a Monday! And he even made enough for the next few days for me to have for breakfast too as he’s away. So feeling all the love for him right now. My other rave is that I’ve found the trigger to get Ferrari to move. Sit still upright for a few minutes, then roll onto my left side. She somersaults like crazy in there! This is helping my anxiety a lot ahead of our anatomy scan this week. On the rant side, work is a bit rough (for a “bit” take that as a typical British understatement). Some issues with my maternity cover telling everyone it’s permanent and another senior manager telling people I had quit... This is not helping my blood pressure.Any upcoming appointments? Anatomy scan on Thursday. Makes me feel a bit sick thinking about it. But just trying to remember we get another hour watching our girl in her own little inside world. GTKY: Now that most of us are finally getting fall weather, what’s you’re go-to warm beverage? I’m not a big hot drink drinker overall, but I do time to time enjoy a hot chocolate. With dairy free milk. And nothing added - no cream or funny flavours. Just chocolate :-)

    • How far along/EDD? 32w5d Dec 5
    • How are you feeling this week? Huge! I’m very cranky and tired too which is bad news for my poor family
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? My BH has been intense lately. I need to bring this up next week bc they’ve become crampy and more frequent. It’s probably nothing but it’s freaking me out!
    • Any upcoming appointments? 34w check in on the 24th
    • GTKY: Now that most of us are finally getting fall weather, what’s you’re go-to warm beverage? Not really a warm beverage person besides my morning coffee at home. I love pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha creamers this time of year!
@akak23 Sorry about your hospital trip, how scary!

@emmasemm I feel you on the constipation front. The last couple of weeks it seems like I’ve had a break from it and go semi regularly. I amped up my stool softeners to 500mg daily and it helped.

    @hanshotfirst77 Welcome and congrats!
  • Hi all. Hope everyone had a good Monday and your weeks are off to a great start!

@wifeinraleigh28 I'm sorry you're getting sick again. Hope it's nothing serious and you can kick it quickly!

@akak23 yikes! Sorry to hear about the hospital trip scare but glad that you and the babe are both ok! And excellent news on a wonderful scan and being able to see the baby move around so much!

@emmasemm pancakes in bed sounds so lovely, go DH! For all it's worth, everyone was scaring me that constipation is terrible after birth and I was terrified of going my first time, but I had no issues. So maybe it's different for everyone? I hope it gets better for you! Anatomy scans are so fun, you see so many details!

@hanshotfirst77 welcome and congratulations! FX for continued good news for you upcoming appointments!

@k_mama91 Do BH just feel like intense cramps? I also hope for your sake they are nothing serious, but always good to check with the doc. Hang in there, you're so close to the finish line!

  • AFT this week
    • How far along/EDD? 27+3. It's so surreal that 3rd tri is a few days away. I can't even believe it!
    • How are you feeling this week? Ok for the most part. Still have some painful heartburn that comes and goes randomly and I can't even isolate what's causing it.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Big rave - I passed my glucose test! Also, we had a lovely 3 day weekend and weather here has been great! The mini rant of this is that I'm so exhausted afterwards because we're always out doing all sorts of activities the entire weekend. I expect it's only going to get more tiring from here but we're trying to soak up all the good fall weather before it gets cold and rainy and snowy and we'll be stuck indoors. Also, yesterday I realized that I've been using a face lotion that has phenol it in. For some reason I thought I switched to a pregnancy safe version but I guess I did not. I haven't been using it every single day, but often enough to now make me freak out. I only realized this when I went to pick up a refill yesterday and the girl there asked which one I've been using. She didn't react in a bad way but just said if I've been using the wrong one, I should stop and switch to a pregnancy safe one. But now I'm freaking out...what if I've hurt the baby somehow??? I'm going to ask my OB about it tomorrow but I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Regular OB check up tomorrow. No scan for another 2 weeks though.
    • GTKY: Now that most of us are finally getting fall weather, what’s you’re go-to warm beverage? Tea - any season! I'm a huge tea drinker and love my morning cup of warm tea to start the day.

  • Hello all!

@wifeinraleigh28 - ugh, hope you feel better soon! I’ve just been getting over a cold and it just sucks being sick!

@akak23 - so sorry about the sudden hospital trip! That’s so scary! Hope you get a free ride from here on out for the rest of your pregnancy when it comes to health stuff! Glad to hear baby is looking good though!

@emmasemm - haven’t experienced a lot of constipation, but when it’s happened it sucks! I haven’t experienced it in so many years that it’s quite surprising when it comes on. Hope it calms down a bit for you, along with the rhinitis! In regards to your work, it’s kinda crazy how coworkers aren’t getting it right or sending out mixed messages regarding your leave. I would be annoyed for sure! On a positive note, gold star for YH with the pancakes in bed! ☺️

@hanshotfirst77 - welcome and congratulations!! Hope your first trimester continues smoothly!

@k_mama91 - as already said, hope the BH are nothing serious and that they become less of a nuisance. I’m also curious what they feel like?

@Tulips29 - yay for passing the glucose test! Also, I hate how hard it is the pinpoint what’s causing heartburn! I’ve had similar experiences where it just doesn’t seem to make any sense why I’m getting heartburn because it’s different food each time, and sometimes really bland food. I also feel like I would be worrying regarding the face cream, but really hope you get a reassuring answer from your doctor. I’m glad you don’t have to wait long to ask your doctor. I’ve been so overwhelmed with the do’s and don’t’s of what to eat, use (make-up, lotion, dish soap, etc), etc, etc. and it’s so hard when you get varying degrees of answers from people and the internet. I wish I could provide a more reassuring response, but hope you find some reprieve from the worrying until your appointment tomorrow.

@PoeMasque - I know this was in the last thread, but I just wanted to thank you for such a reassuring, honest answer when it comes to bringing home baby and becoming a parent - it really did lessen the fear/anxiety that I’ve been experiencing at times thinking about it. 💛
    • How far along/EDD? 19w1d 3/9
    • How are you feeling this week? I’ve been good, besides a cold, but slowly getting over it. Being able to start feeling baby kick since Friday has been so amazing and surreal at the same time! DH was able to feel a few of the faint kicks and I haven’t seen him smile so widely like that for a long time!
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? A bit a rant over the crazy weather we’ve been having here. Had a massive winter storm on Thursday and Friday and tons of trees got affected, since it was really wet, heavy snow and most of the trees still have their leaves. So lots of broken branches and trees all over the city. The weather has gone back to normal fall weather so a lot of the snow has melted, but I just hate getting snow in October (I live in the Canadian prairies, so it really should come as no surprise when this happens, but still!)
    • Any upcoming appointments? Had my OB appointment last week and finally got a good listen to the heartbeat which was lovely!! All looking good so far. Have my anatomy scan next week.
    • GTKY: Now that most of us are finally getting fall weather, what’s you’re go-to warm beverage? I’m usually a huge tea drinker, but for some reason just haven’t been in the mood since getting pregnant. Not so much an aversion, just not interested. So really haven’t been drinking too much hot drinks lately, except the occasional hot chocolate. Saying that though, I know that if I went into a Starbucks I would be getting one of their fancy fall drinks!

  • @Tulips29 @sincethelastday I’ve been getting them since 19 weeks when I had my last big bleed. They’re weird, it’s a tightening feeling that’s uncomfortable but not painful or crampy if that makes sense? But the last few weeks they’ve become intense and I’m full on cramping with him and stopping my activity until they pass.

Also yay for baby kicks and no GD!!
  • @sincethelastday goodness, snow storms already? That makes me depressed thinking about it while it's still October. I'm not sure where you are, but I've been to Banff during a snow storm and it was so magical and beautiful. That's about it haha...wearing 3 layers of pants to keep warm was no fun, so I can't imagine how it's already that time of the year for you!

@k_mama91 you just gave me a good question to ask my OB tomorrow since I don't think I've ever felt BH but I have felt uncomfortable tightening feeling here and there. So now I'm wondering if that was it and when it's considered normal to start feeling them as you've had them since 19 weeks. I've just told myself that any discomfort I felt was just my uterus stretching out. Sounds like yours have been more intense and I hope they simmer down for a while!

  • Thanks for all the support everyone ♥️

@emmasemm ok your DH is the bomb! I will be mentioning the pancakes to mine as soon as he gets home from work lol.

@hanshotfirst77 congrats and welcome! Sending you positive vibes for a healthy pregnancy.

@Tulips29 omg third trimester! That is so exciting. Try to take it easy if you can, I know my DH doesn’t understand sometimes how exhausting it is to grow another human!

@sincethelastday how exciting about feeling baby kick! When did you first start noticing movements??
  • @k_mama91 i had false labor with DS from about 35 weeks on and it got progressively worse, to the point that I was having 3-4 hours of “labor” every night from 37.5 weeks on. It was miserable and mentally draining because every night I felt like “this must be it!” But the contractions never got close enough together and then it would just stop. It’s fairly common, especially with subsequent pregnancies. I hope that’s all it is for you, but I also hope you don’t end up like me! The last week of pregnancy I barely slept and then I chose induction at 39 weeks because I just couldn’t imagine another week of the false labor.

@Tulips29 BH is that tightening you feel, not usually uncomfortable and often will happen if your bladder is full, just emptied, or with activity. I’ve had them since about 15 weeks when I go from sitting to standing/walking. Also congrats on the glucose test! It must be nice to be over that hurdle!

@emmasemm Thanks for drumming up some new members! Sorry the tag isn’t working....I had trouble tagging people in this post too
for some reason. The bump is always super finicky...I’ll try re-tagging next time instead of just copy & paste.

@hanshotfirst77 welcome!!! And congrats!! Fingers crossed for a great beta rise tomorrow!

@sincethelastday Yay for kicks! It’s always super exciting for DH to finally “feel” a part of things by feeling kicks. Also much less stressful when you get little reminders that baby is in there playing around :)

    • How far along/EDD? 23+3, Feb 8 (so close to viability! Woot!)
    • How are you feeling this week? Super strong kicks this week, getting distracting during work, which is fun and also kind of annoying haha. I’m convinced my fatigue before was definitely related to not drinking enough water because I forced myself to drink 48oz per day and I felt so much better....until this week when I’ve been doing a bad job and now the fatigue (and constipation!) is back.
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Rant(s) - the lady training me at work is constantly stressed out, skips all breaks, and works overtime (we are salaried), which means I end up doing the same and I’m over it. she has also started accepting work on my behalf and then ordering me around about it. I can’t wait for her to go back to her own office! Our son has also decided that slapping, kicking, and biting are super fun because he can then say “owie mommy!” pat my belly and say “it’s ok mommy, all better”. It’s like a game to hurt us, just so he can comfort us! I’m at a loss as to how to deal with it. :(
    • Any upcoming appointments? Echocardiogram on Thursday and glucose test Monday (eeeeeep!)
    • GTKY: Now that most of us are finally getting fall weather, what’s you’re go-to warm beverage?  I usually drink coffee, but lately I’ve been super into “London fog” tea. It’s earl gray tea with sugar and steamed milk (I think!)

@PoeMasque Viability is such a huge relief! You’re moving right along!! Also, if this nonsense continues and gets worse I will practically beg for an induction thanksgiving week.

@Tulips29 I realized what it was after poking at my belly during the sensation one day. It literally becomes rock hard. Closest I’ll ever get to a hard stomach 😂
  • @Tulips29 - yeah, thankfully most of the snow is melted. I would love to live in Banff as I’m sure any weather there would be beautiful no matter what, but no, I live in Winnipeg which is flat prairie with not a mountain in sight (except the mountains of snow we get lol). And thanks for asking about the tightening feeling/BH as I totally felt something like that on Monday as well.

@akak23 - first started noticing movements on Friday. I just love randomly feeling those little kicks  - such a lovely reminder that there’s a little one in there.

@PoeMasque - your comments about drinking water has me more determined to drink more water. I’ve just been failing on that end throughout this pregnancy. And I think the tiredness I’ve been experiencing could definitely be related to it. I also hope this co-worker of yours gets a little less bossy - there’s nothing worse than having to grin and bear it through working with a terrible colleague. And hope your son soon realizes that biting, kicking, etc is not the end-all-be-all!

I was also wondering if anyone has encountered some abdominal discomfort when sleeping. The past couple of nights I just can’t seem to find a comfortable position that my abdomen seems to find comfy. It’s not pain at all, just like when you can’t get into that comfy, settled spot. I tried putting a pillow under my legs which I know can help with back pain and that seemed to help a bit, but just wondering if anyone has experienced the same and has any tips. Thanks!!
  • @sincethelastday Try a pillow wedged under your belly
  • @k_mama91 - that would make a lot of sense! Thanks!
  • @sincethelastday the pregnancy pillow I bought (a C shaped one) has been awesome. I think I will sleep with it forever! So many options to raise a leg, support back or bump depending how you feel. I went mid price range and am very happy.

  • @Tulips29 - I can’t believe how surreal that must be knowing exactly when you may be having the baby! And that’s a relief to hear about the lotion!

@emmasemm - thanks for the tip about the pregnancy pillow! What brand did you buy? I’ve been meaning to look those up for awhile now.
  • @stella_700 welcome and congratulations!

  • @stella_700 Welcome and congrats on two good scans! FX your last RE appt goes smoothly as well.

@Tulips29 😳 How have we already reached this point?! I’m a bit jealous, I’m approaching the “could be any time but who knows” stage. I want a date!!
  • Welcome @stella_700 and @hanshotfirst77! (How did beta #2 go?)

I’m definitely still sick and at this point I’m worried I might have a sinus infection. Planning to call my ENT in the morning to see if he can check me out.

@Tulips29 I cannot even believe your delivery is just around the corner! I’ll be scheduling a C as well though I know a VBAC is an option. Not something I’m willing to consider unless I go into labor on my own. I refuse to be induced again!

@akak23 ughh seriously with the health scares, I’m so sorry. Glad baby boy is doing so well though!

  • Thanks for the welcome everyone!

@wifeinraleigh28 I've been waiting to post again cause I'm sort of in limbo. my second beta was actually really good. I went from 379 at 10dp5dt to 1007 at 12dp5dt but both days my progesterone was low. They had me add in a nightly suppository in addition to the PIO I do every morning. And I'm going in today for another check. And since I'm going in anyway they are going to check hcg again too. So here's hoping it all looks good today.

  • @k_mama91 I've discussed a scheduled C with my OB previously, but it was definitely a shock to get the actual paper with the date listed. Would your doctor schedule one? Mine could only do it after 39 weeks, but said if I go into labor on my own earlier, they can still do a c-sec at that point if I chose.

@wifeinraleigh28 It's so crazy! I'm with you on not wanting to be induced. Part of me prefers to have it all scheduled and I had a good experience with my first c-sec so really hoping for a repeat. I have a few friends who are telling me vbacs are way better and that I should try, but then I have some friends who've gone through the 24+ hour labors and ended up with an emergency c-sec and I don't want that. I'm just trying to convince myself to not stress it all, and whatever happens, happens. I can't control when this baby decides to come out.

@hanshotfirst77 congrats on a great second beta and good luck with the appointment today!

  • @k_mama91 how are the cramps?

    @stella_700 Woot! Congrats and welcome!!

    @hanshotfirst77 great betas!

We had our echocardiogram yesterday and everything was great, except my placenta hasn’t moved at all. They said there’s still a chance it could move enough, but to be prepared for it not to. I’m pretty bummed because I really don’t want a c-section. Having a vaginal delivery with DS was so amazing, I was really looking forward to that again. (Plus lower risks and faster recovery).

  • Welcome @hanshotfirst77! How did your last appointment go?

thanks @wifeinraleigh28, I’m trying to stay positive!

@Tulips29 do you mind me asking why you’re scheduling a csection? I’ve had so many crazy complications so far I’ve been advised by friends to consider it.
  • @PoeMasque Still hanging around. Some days they’re frequent and others they’re pretty sporadic. I’m planning to address at my appt Thursday. FX you’re placenta moves and you’re able to have the delivery experience you want!

@Tulips29 We’ve started talking about delivery and he said “Technically anything before 39 weeks is considered induction.” I do not want another induction but I should have my 38w appt the week before Thanksgiving and my 39w is on Black Friday. I’m going to ask very nicely for a membrane sweep before Thanksgiving and hope it works.
  • @akak23 My OB is giving me the option to go for a vbac if I choose, but he scheduled a c-sec for 2 reasons - to hold the date because everything up until then is already booked and also because he won't let me go past my due date. Part of me just wants it also because I don't want to be induced or go through a crazy labor only to end up with an emergency c-sec. So I guess we will see what happens.

@k_mama91 interesting, my OB didn't even bring up anything before 39 weeks. He just told me whatever happens, happens, and he can only schedule a c-sec at 39+ weeks but won't let me go past 40. He didn't bring up the option of a membrane sweep either, so I wonder if he's even for it. I'm scared of doing it, though.

  • @Tulips29 From my understanding it works about half the time. If it doesn’t move things along I’ll be crampy and uncomfortable which I already am so to me its worth a shot.
