Hope everyone in the MA/NE area made it through the "bomb cyclone" ok! We've been without power since 2am and might not get it back until Saturday evening. I'm just thankful it's not winter so we're not dealing with snow and the people working on the power lines don't have to try and do their jobs in freezing temperatures.ย

@inthewoods23 & @blackmagic21 I am constantly dreaming about my future green home. One of DH's cousins has his own solar panel company and it is booming! Ladies! I don't know what thread I should be in right now. I'm WTO but when AF came Monday the idea of moving over to WTO again made me crazy because really we should be getting moving with IF testing but SO is dragging his feet... it just seems silly to post in WTO about all the things I'm doing to get KU when I don't even know if anything I do will make a difference! But I think posting in IF when we're not actually taking action at the moment will also make me nuts! Hopefully we'll be moving forward soon and it will make sense for me to be in IF talking about testing...
Plus it's looking more and more like I'll have to be benched/TTA from December to March (unless I magically get KU in the next cycle) because we're planning to go to Costa Rica (Zika country) for Christmas and we have to stop trying for three months after that.
Wasn't there a Benched/TTA/"waiting room" thread at some point? Maybe I will resurrect it even if I'm just posting there by myself. /
Anyway I definitely want to keep up with what's going on with everyone but just letting you all know I may not be posting as much for a bit!!

I know I'm in the minority here, but I can't just let a conversation like this fly without at least speaking up to be a voice in the desert...
I don't think it's appropriate in the context of ttgp to bring up politics or religion in a way that draws a line in the sand and has the potential to create division.ย This community and the connection I have built with the women here, in a very real way, saved my life when we got our IF dx.ย I needed this to be a safe space where all judgement was cast aside and I belonged, unconditionally, to a group that knew our struggle and our pain.ย And eventually also understood what we were grappling with when it came to making treatment decisions.
I don't feel that most of the time the topic of the Catholic Church is discussed respectfully at all.ย Case in point, I had been locked out of the ap, finally dipping my toe back in TTGP
***TW*** <div class=" Spoiler">After a loss</div> And open up the randoms thread to this -- I'll be honest, it 1000% got my back up, and I don't feel this is the place.
No other religion gets openly bashed the way the Catholic Church does.ย Has anyone else noticed that?ย Like if someone were to bring up some random Jewish custom, would the board be so quick to jump in with all their 2 cents about the Jewish faith?ย Or Islam.ย Let's pick a random supposedly anti-woman Muslim belief, and all pipe in about how backwards and oppressive and stuck in time the Islamic religion is...
Any takers????ย Iย didn't really think so.
So why is it completely socially acceptable to do that to the Catholic Faith?ย ๐คท. That's a question for another day, perhaps.
But putting my heart on my sleeve as a Catholic woman who stopped going when we got our dx, only to return to the TRADITIONAL FAITH after losing my mom, I just ask that you maybe take a beat next time the topic comes up.ย Maybe ask questions instead of jumping to conclusions.ย I don't really want to be the poster child for anything around here, but suffice it to say, it hurts my heart when I am finally able to pop back in and check in with my FRANS.... Only to see this is the topic of group conversation this week.
Don't get me wrong, returning to church after infertility is not without its challenges, (not that in my heart I believe I ever really LEFT), but the fact is, life offers no shortage of opportunities to present crises of faith, as has ever been the case.ย We live in a fallen, broken world, and it's not my belief the God ever wills our suffering and pain, however He WILL use it as an opportunity to help our hearts grow in love and compassion, if we ask.ย All too often we seem to use our pain as an excuse to turn our backs on God, and the faith of our mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers... and worship other "gods."ย In many ways, it's only human.ย But to trust Him and believe in His love for us, despite incomprehensible pain, actually is divine.
There's no shortage of voices crying out pet cases against the Catholic Church these days, and have been at various times throughout history, too.ย But there are still true believers amongst us as well.ย I just couldn't in good faith let this conversation go down in the posterity of the interwebs without saying SOMETHING.ย Not everyone agrees with or buys into the whole pop culture opinion on the subject. โค๏ธ
@BusinessWife oh friend I'm so sorry that a conversation I started hurt your heart. That was absolutely not my intention at all. My post was completely out of frustration (and fear) after being told we need to switch hospital networks or see a drย out of state to resume fertility testing and possibly treatment since Hs Dr is no longer allowed to see him. I dont understand why a dr we were allowed to see 2 years ago is now no longer allowed to see us.ย
I'm so sorry about your loss, and I wish you weren't back here under these circumstances. And again I sincerely apologize for you having to come back to a convo that hurt you.ย
Me: 31 DH: 34 ย Married: April 2016 TTC December 2016 BFP 2/28/17 // CP 3/1/17 MFI Diagnosis: Aug 2017 BFP 11/1/17 // DS born 6/18 TTC January 2019 BFP 3/21/19 // D&C (MMC) 5/8/19
@BusinessWife First of all, I think you perfectly articulated both what this forum means and what it's like to have faith through IF/TTC. I'm not Catholic, but I'm on a similar path of maintaining faith and believing that God didn't cause this. It's a lot easier to be angry at Him, but it doesn't make it right.ย
ย I agree that it is so important for this forum to remain a safe place for diverse people to support one another through this difficult journey. I'm glad you decided to clear the air instead of just passive-aggressively harboring resentment, which I would be inclined to do.ย
@millpe FWIW, I appreciate your sincerity, and can certainly understand your anxiety around your insurance issues. I have friends who are not catholic, but see a NAPRO doctor. It's been interesting to hear how they work with some of the restrictions.ย
Hugs all around, ladies. I love you all and am thankful we can have respectful discussions and confrontations here.ย
Where are my Downton Abbey fans? I finally saw the movie last night and it was everything I had hoped for. The fashion alone was worth the price of the ticket. ๐
We sort of hit into the same stuff the further along we got in our diagnostics.ย We had been seeing a napro doctor, whom we both LOVED!ย And had been our regular GP before we even suspected we might have a problem.
We also did a lot of extensive testing for me before he got his first SA.ย and for his second SA collection, not wanting to leave any room for a margin of error or doubt, we didn't worry about messing around with a perforated condom.ย If he had had low count or morph or who knows whatever other sperm problems, napro still has room for supplements and all sorts of things to boost sperm count and thereby aid "natural conception."ย But when there is ZERO, you're sort of at the end of the line.
We held out hope that there might be a logistical issue, for lack of a better term, that could be solved surgically and thereby restore our natural fertility as a couple, but no such luck.
All that to say, I don't know the specifics of what may be going on in your case @millpe but we ended up having to leave that GP alltogether over insurance stuff, too, because once I got my job and our insurance changed, it didn't make sense at the time to keep paying oop to go there, when we just have a copay to see whoever is in network.
Once we received our dx, we also had to see three different Urologists (in two different states) before we finally found the right one for DH, so I mean, you're not alone.ย I'm sorry you're facing the whole MFI thing.ย It sucks.ย And there are definitely times when insurance doesn't make it any easier.
That said, we may actually end up switching our stuff back to something where we can start seeing our former GP again going forward, bc despite the whole scene and how it went down, he was our favorite doctor and we actually trust him, moreso than whichever random providers we seem to be finding in network.ย Hrumph.

โค๏ธ
I'm so sorry about your loss, and I wish you weren't back here under these circumstances. And again I sincerely apologize for you having to come back to a convo that hurt you.ย
