Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Wednesday 10/16

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. WAYDTGKU: Letrozole, Metformin, prenatal, Conceive Plus, HIO at least EOD in FW, temping/tracking with FF, and adding in progesterone after O.

R/R: Happy Hump Day everyone!! This week is going by a bit slow, but at least we have made it to the middle of it now! It’s rainy & chilly here today, but that just means it is officially the beginning of boot/scarf season!!

CS/Q: I used the “charts like mine” feature in FF this morning and they were pretty much all anovulatory, so that was fun to see! 😒 I’m hoping O is soon though!

@beckylookatherbump I’m so sorry for the news you got yesterday, and that AF is being such a jerk!! I’m sure that was hard to hear that you most likely have both, but I know people go on to have a successful pregnancy with either! I have PCOS and remember the discouraging feeling when I found out, but there are all kinds of advances in medicine that make it to where you can have a baby with it! I always knew there was something wrong because I had wildly irregular periods (would go 6 months to a year without one), but didn’t get it checked out until last year (aside from a time years ago when I was just told I was fine and they could put me on birth control to regulate me). Earlier last year, I was put on Clomid which did not work for me at the lowest dose. I added in Metformin and switched to Letrozole and now I ovulate regularly. *TW for loss - I have gotten pregnant twice in the last year, but unfortunately both have ended in loss. I am so hopeful we will get our rainbow soon though! - End TW* Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or just need to vent about how bad this sucks! Sending so many hugs!! 💜

@coffeeandcookies84 yay for O! I’ve had a gradual shift before over a few days. I think anything over .2-.3 is considered a shift and it’s well above your last 6 temps. Your shift can vary from cycle to cycle too...I’ve had some super obvious ones and some very slight shifts. Hopefully you get CH’s in a couple of days to confirm though.

@bows22 good job remembering to temp! Sorry to hear you have a cold! Hope your day passes quickly so you can get home and rest! Hopefully caffeine does it’s job in the meantime though!

  • @bluetickgal I hate “charts like mine.” it sucks me in and it means nothing! I hope O is soon. It’s cold and rainy here too, I’ll admit that I was excited to wear boots/fall clothes but I miss summer already!
  • @bluetickgal it's also going to be rainy here today too. booooo  Can you call your RE and see if they can get you in for a monitoring appointment? Just to see where things are at with blood work and an ultrasound?

  • @beckylookatherbump hugs girl. PCOS is crappy and hard. Weight and long irregular (sometimes anovulatory) cycles are my main struggles with PCOS. Please reach out of you ever need to vent or talk. But also know that it is not a diagnosis that means you can't have a healthy pregnancy.

@coffeeandcookies84 sorry you missed yesterday but hopefully your timing was still good. Enjoy the fall weather and bike ride!

@bows22 glad you remembered to temp today. Hope the caffeine helps later!

@bluetickgal I love boots and scarves season. We're having a rainy chilly day here too today.

    Month/Cycle: 4/3

    CD: 39

WAYDTGKU: BBT, tracking CF, using FF, OPKs, prenatals

R/R: it's a gloomy rainy day here and honestly my mood is reflecting it. Just having a down day and feeling in the verge of tears randomly. I hope that means AF is on her way.

    CS/Q:

  • @kpearse99 I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow!
  • @bows22 yeah, it probably would have told me that on all of my charts over the last year at this point...I have rocky temps and a late(ish) O! I just didn’t have access to that feature until now...I think I’ll be staying away from it though! Haha. I love Fall, but as soon as it starts getting really cold, I’ll be over it and ready for Spring/Summer as well!

@kpearse99 I’m glad you have your appt tomorrow and can hopefully get all your questions answered! I’m hoping you feel great about the plan for this next cycle! I probably could, but I’m going to ride it out a little longer. I normally O on the later side, so this isn’t really abnormal for me. I had cramping starting on Sunday, so I kind of thought it was happening earlier...but honestly, I usually get cramping for a few days before (I’m just getting antsy).

@gingermama29 sorry you are having a rainy/gloomy day too...and sorry for all the emotions! Sending hugs! 💜 I hope it does mean AF is on her way though so you can move on from this cycle!
  • @gingermama29 I am sorry you're down today. I also hope this means your AF is arriving soon so you can start fresh. I think, since so many of us are having rainy days at home, we should all go back home and climb back into bed.  Virtual PJ party, anyone?!

  • @beckylookatherbump I am so sorry for the double whammy. We are sending all the love <3 Don't forget with every success story there was a point where it didn't seem possible. Don't hesitate to ask questions!

@coffeeandcookies84 I have the same problem about keeping on top of the boards. Sorry about O, but good on you for keeping things as stress free as possible. Its all about the balance. Ohmmmmmm....

@bows22 Ah caffeine! I miss it so. I've only been allowing myself decaf coffee or Lady Grey tea. Hope you can get caught up and energized!

@bluetickgal Happy Humpday!! I am rocking my Ravenclaw scarf and my Reikert boots. I was quite excited for the chilly weather this morning

R/R: Really wish I could be on a month long vacation. People are particularly irritating lately. Nothing specific (other than yesterday's rant on the Random board). Just a low level of stupidity and inconsiderateness.

    CS/Q: -

  • @kpearse99 it will only be for like a half hour if I do work! Just so that I have my 8 hours today. I know a lot of people would be like eh close enough, but my boss is VERY flexible with me so I don’t like to fudge my time at all. I have plenty of small tasks on my to do list so I’ll just knock one of those off! Good luck at your appointment tomorrow, I can’t wait to hear about it! And I am so in for the virtual PJ party haha.

@gingermama29 I hope work is distracting you from the gloomy mood. My office window is at my back so I keep hearing the rain and trying not to turn around to see it. This kind of weather always gets me down too but I hope that it’s AF contributing to it for you

@meri-mac so actually I’m going to ditch @kpearse99’s PJ party and go on your month long vacation instead. Sound good? Haha, seriously though I hope you can hide and avoid whatever is irritating you

  • @meri-mac also, i constantly have “miss Mary Mack” in my head thanks to you!
  • @bows22 Everyone can join me on my vacation! You are welcome for the ear worm (gross expression). For me it is Great Big Sea's Mary Mac

@kpearse99 Totally with you. I have been looking at gifs to make me smile:

  • @kpearse99 Metformin is actually a diabetes drug (I do not have diabetes), but it is used to regulate cycles for people with PCOS or insulin resistance (which I do have). Some people with PCOS can be regulated with Metformin alone, but apparently I need that plus Letrozole. I would say if there is no concern that you could have PCOS, there would be no need for you to ask about it. Btw, that gif is perfection!! Plus, count me in on the virtual PJ party!!

@meri-mac thanks! Oh, a Ravenclaw scarf...I need one of those in my life, except maybe Gryffindor! Yes, a month long vacation sounds wonderful! I hope your irritations/frustrations go away soon! People are the worst sometimes! @bows22 thank you, now I will be singing Miss Mary Mac Mac Mac...in my head now too! Haha.

@mvt2003 ugh, sorry you jinxed yourself! Sending positive vibes and hoping work calms down soon!! Come on weekend!!
  • @beckylookatherbump I am so so sorry. I'm thinking of you, and hope that your appointment with the fertility specialist will help get a plan in place!

@coffeeandcookies84 Ooooh I would love to bike to work! I'm loving the fall weather too!

@bows22 Hope your day gets better friend!!!!! Take it easy today, and do some professional development! :D

@bluetickgal So excited for sweater weather!

@kpearse99 sending you so many virtual hugs, friend. I'm hoping tomorrow gets you some answers and a plan!!! <3<3<3<3 Also, can I join the PJ party too???? I need a break!

@gingermama29 I'm so hoping for this cycle to end for you, friend, just so you can get some clarity!!!

  • @beckylookatherbump I'm sorry. That's not the news anyone wants to get when starting TTC. I'm glad they at least caught it before you had tried for a year and all that. I know some ladies with PCOS respond well to medication so hopefully you're one of those. Feel what you need to feel but try to also hold onto enough hope to get you through today.

@ttcbabyodo I'm so sorry. That sounds like awful pulled on top of more awful on top of soul crushing heartache.

I'll try to come back in a bit to respond to some more people. This is now my 4th attempt to even post today so we will see.

R/R: My husband was supposed to be home this week but his company got hacked so they called all the executives in for emergency meetings on how to proceed. So he had to go in Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon and then back this morning till tomorrow afternoon. Since he was home briefly we did get to have sex last night. We had planned on having sex this morning before he left but he ended up needing to take a conference call for work during the time we had set aside so that didn't happen. I got a positive OPK yesterday followed by a slightly darker positive today. My ovaries hurt, my sex drive is high and I'm having tons of EWCM. I'm assuming I'll ovulate today but maybe tomorrow. If I O today our timing will be -1 and if I O tomorrow we might maybe can make -2, O happen. Either way it could be worse but it could also be better.

@beckylookatherbump - I am so sorry for the potential diagnosis, definitely let yourself feel every emotion you need to as you process this. Hopefully when you get in with the fertility specialist you'll be ready to tackle it head on!

@coffeeandcookies84 - that's awesome you can bike the office, great way to start the day!

@bows22 - hooray for temping today!

@bluetickgal- I hate the "charts like mine" feature - it's all doom and gloom or they get your hopes up way too much :s

@kpearse99 - good luck at your appointment tomorrow. Hopefully seeing the RE and figuring out your next steps will give you somewhat of a sense of control in this journey <3

@gingermama29 - isn't it crazy how weather effects mood? I always feel down when it's gloomy. I hope things turn around for you soon!

@meri-mac - girl I hate low-level stupidity. Not enough stupid to freak out about, but enough to send me into a silent rage. The. Worst.

@mvt2003 - sorry for the crazy work week, fingers crossed the rest of it goes quickly!

@NamelessAria - that's really good timing! Even if you O tomorrow you're still pretty covered!

R/R: Ughhh so AF returned last week, only 2 days after IUD removal. Everything was normal, then last night it randomly returned pretty heavy for a couple hours. I don't know what that means but hopefully my cycle won't be super long this month. Who knows.

    CS/Q: Nada.

  • @kpearse99 I highly recommend that sick day. My nap today was exactly what I needed.
@ttcbabyodo sorry you are here but haply to have you. That bellabee do you sleep with it on? I looked it up but it looks super uncomfortable. I’m glad you like it.
@NamelessAria sorry he’s working and interfering with your schedule. Downs this work know how important this is? Lol. And I am still being hopeful I just hate that I my hope to naturally conceive don’t seem as great anymore.
@kmalls I’m not sure if you’ve had the iud before but when I had mine out I bled a few days after. This is a withdrawl bless that is similar in every way to a period but isn’t. It took 87 days after that for my first real period so be aware that what you experienced likely wasn’t a period and will probably take some time for your real period.
  • @gingermama29 ahhhh seriously hoping this is really O for you!!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

@kmalls what @beckylookatherbump said... I never had withdrawal bleeding when I had mine removed but I didn’t get a period either until after 70 days.

  • @gingermama29: fingers crossed this is O! You have earned it girl. You’ve been way more patient then I was.
  • @beckylookatherbump @kpearse99 thanks for your insight. This is the first time I’ve had an UID removed and I’m unsure what to expect. My OB just gave me a pat on the back and said fertility would be regained “immediately” and she hoped to see me soon. Not super helpful!
  • @beckylookatherbump I hope you were able to relax and get your mind off things after you left school! I’m glad you got them to do BW instead of waiting. I totally get your fear!! *TW - The reality of a loss really didn’t sink in until it happened to us...I knew there was an increased risk, but I still just couldn’t imagine it happening. Even though we have been on the wrong side of that increased risk, I still have all the hope/faith that it will happen for us and we will get our take home baby! Plus, we don’t know if it was PCOS or something else like low progesterone that could have caused my losses. And in general, just because there is an increased risk, that doesn’t mean it will happen...and I truly hope that it doesn’t for you! If it makes you feel any better, I have a friend IRL that has PCOS and has had 3 kids (all with the help of fertility meds alone) and no losses. - End TW* I hope your appt with the fertility specialist goes well and gives you some peace/comfort. Again, I’m here to answer any questions you have through this process and I’m definitely here for support/encouragement !

@coffeeandcookies84 yeah, I learned my lesson on “charts like mine”. I used to look at the chart gallery at only “pregnancy” charts and see if mine looked like any of them...that wasn’t quite as depressing because I could convince myself that they did! Fingers crossed you get your “pregnancy” chart soon!!

@ttcbabyodo the Bellabee sounds interesting...I’m glad you like it so far! I hope the next 7ish weeks fly by (or go by slow if you need extra time) and you don’t have to think about that thesis anymore! Ugh, sorry for your rant...but I’m glad it didn’t seem to be too bad with the circumstances!

@NamelessAria that stinks YH has been called into work this week! Hope O holds out so you can get 1 more time in...but it only takes 1, so hopefully that was it if O happens today!

@kmalls agreed, no more “charts like mine” for me! Sorry AF reappeared. Hopefully your cycle isn’t too long, but it may take some time to regulate.

@gingermama29 yay for hopeful O!! Fingers crossed this is it!!
  • Oops I realized I never responded to everyone else.

@kpearse99 virtual PJ party sounds awesome. Oooh and I am also a Hufflepuff!

@meri-mac a month long vacation sounds like a dream. I like that idea very much. Sign me up!

@mvt2003 I hope your insane week goes by quickly!

@ttcbabyodo I hope the Bellabee helps! What is your thesis on?

@NamelessAria sorry YH got called away. I hope your timing is still good.

@kmalls it's definitely crazy. Though I don't have that issue too much in the winter thankfully. FX that you don't have a long cycle.
  • @kmalls: I too found that they don’t really tell you a lot when you get it out. They told me you will immediately regain fertility. In reality once that didn’t happen they said it can take up to a year. Just know that a little delay is normal, frustrating but normal and don’t freak out if your next “period” isn’t when you thought since this may not be a real period.
  • @beckylookatherbump So sorry about your diagnosis. Hang in there ❤️

@bows22 (and @beckylookatherbump)I don’t know if I could temp properly without my Ava bracelet. It was pricey, but makes it sooo simple.

@kpearse99 Good luck at your appt tomorrow! I hope you get some comfort in clarity. In the meantime, I’m rocking solidarity PJs.

    @gingermama29 🤞🤞🤞
  • @beckylookatherbump - I don't sleep with it on, I just put it on about an hour before bed (or as I'm laying bed preparing for sleep). It's actually not too bad, but maybe I'm used to stuff on my head because I wear sweatybands when I go running, and they're about the same size, shape, and tension. I have long, thick hair too, so that kind of cushions it. The only bummer about using it is you can't play any audio from your phone (like an ambient noise app or music) because it plugs into your headphone jack. But, that's okay.

@gingermama29 - my thesis is on grandparents raising grandchildren. Exploring their rights in terms of guardianship and support from state and federal government, as well as family systems therapy for grandparent & grandchild(ren). I have a lot of talking points to go over that probably need to be narrowed down. Thankfully it's not due until November 13th, but it has to be 25 pages total plus a powerpoint so I need to get on it. I have a rough outline so far, which has me up to 8 pages already, but I really should be further along at this point. I've spoken to my classmates and they're about where I am, so I don't feel too bad (yet).

@kmalls - I can't remember if you said you had the Mirena (hormonal IUD) or Paraguard (regular copper IUD). I know results can vary depending on which one you had before removal. As for my experience, I had the Mirena for about 18 months, and after removal it took about 60 days for AF to return, but after that it was pretty regular and super light. Have patience, though, I'm sure you'll level out in a cycle or two. Bodies are wacky, yo.

  • @ttcbabyodo - WHAT IS THIS PATIENCE YOU SPEAK OF?! :D I had a Mirena, and lots of what I’m reading online is saying ovulation may still be occurring even with erratic periods. Sooooo I guess I’ll continue temping and charting and OPKing and hope for the best! Thanks for sharing your experience.
  • @smalls @bluetickgal am I the only one who almost always sees like 30% on "charts like mine" because I feel like it always hovers in there. I mean unless i missed my FW completely or something. It's like FF is like "yeah there is always a 20-30% chance during a cycle with decently timed sex so that's what you have. Stop obsessing."

@gingermama29 oh yeah! Yay for EWCM and dark OPKs. Fingers crossed for you.

@mvt2003 I'm sorry you ended up benched for testing. I hope the testing is worth it and gives you answers. Preferably answers with good solutions.
