  • I think we decided that we are going as the 'family' from Kiki's delivery service.  Our chihuahua is going to be Gigi the cat.
  • Loading the player...
  • My son is going to be a gentleman spy. I'm going to get dog ears, a bow, and a pink shirt that says FEMALE...as in dog. Female dog.
  • Or, I might go in my zombie baby shirt.
  • I wanted to get away with just wearing a BB8 maternity shirt (I usually love dressing up but the less I have to buy the happier I am right now) but there are no good BB8 maternity shirts out there. There's one with its body and no head, and then one with a red scarf... Soooo I might have to go back to the drawing board on that one.

  • @stashattack - Are you crafty? You might be able to find an iron-on from Etsy and make your own? I know there's also this iron-on paper, that you can print just about anything on, cut it on, and iron it on to your shirt. I'm surprised Etsy doesn't have anything. Usually you can find a seller to custom make you anything.
  • I was at a wedding this weekend with the entire fam jam (close + extended family). DH is still abroad till this weekend so it was just me with DD and literally my entire family. One old grandma comes up to me to say "ooo your husband didn't come, that's not good people will talk" ....um what? I'm pretty sure it's only you talking lady..
  • @marebear15 I am somewhat crafty but also lack an iron LOL. I might just settle for a death star!

  • @FyreFlyeRush I want to see this zombie shirt! I have a skeleton one that creeps dd out.

@c1kc1kpol1cn1k Family is so ridiculous sometimes.  Hope the wedding fun made up for any weirdness from her.

That reminds me of when my grandma was speaking about me to her sister about my then "live in" aka "living in sin" boyfriend in Spanish even though she knows I speak the language.  Come on Grandma, you even speak spanish to me!

@stashattack death star would be cool too!

@c1kc1kpol1cn1k what the heck....just because he is away does not warrant those comments....really or ever to be honest!

    @FyreFlyeRush choices choices!

My eternal lesson I keep failing to learn. When I go to hard I fall apart. I guess my weekend was busy traveling to Washington and back (5 + hours each way from us). But we had fun and saw family. I didn't sleep particularly well while there or last night so was pretty tired this morning. I get to work and sitting at my computer I get this feeling like I can't breathe and the room goes black. I stumble down the hall where it seems like someone is in a lab and sit on the floor outside and yell for help. Some poor undergrad found me and called 911. Since I scared myself I started hyperventilating and my hands went numb. The paramedics came and calmed me down and everything was fine. I did my TA meeting in the morning and went home to rest. Still stuff to do but have to be smart. I called my doctor and they were happy I sought help and everything looks okay. Baby has been moving lots so no concerns there either. What a day though!
  • OMG @biolprof that's super scary but I'm glad you are ok. Definitely take it easy for the rest of the day. Netflix and Baby Kicks :P

  • @biolprof I'm glad everything is okay! That's super scary!! Did your BP just drop?! Hope you get some rest this evening and for however many days this week you need it!
  • @stashattack netflix and babykicks would make a good t-shirt
  • @stashattack I love the idea of Netflix and baby kicks! I'm not sure what happened. BP was fine when the paramedics showed up. I still have fluid on my ear so I wonder if that made me dizzy and then I got scared and my body went down a bad spiral. Doc wasn't too concerned so that's good. I've been sleeping all afternoon minus the time to prep my lecture tomorrow. It could be a sh*t show tomorrow in class but I'm not sure I care at this moment lol
  • @biolprof omg, so scary! I'm sorry you experienced that, but I'm glad you're ok. Take it easy! You have a very valid excuse to not give your best lecture tomorrow. Your health and baby's health is more important!

@stashattack yes! Love Netflix and baby kicks. I'd buy your etsy store product 😅
  • @biolprof that's super scary and I'm glad you and baby are OK! Maybe baby shifted and put pressure on your diaphragm, making it hard to catch your breath. Which, of course, sets off all kinds of panic bells. Whatever the case, I hope it doesn't happen again!
  • @biolprof im really glad youre ok! i can only imagine how scary that must be! Hope it's an isolated thing and doesnt happen again & that youre able to take it a little bit easy!
  • It was so beautiful this morning, I drove with the AC off and the windows cracked. It'll be back to 94 tomorrow, but the normal temps were nice for the one day they lasted...and will be back again Friday, hopefully with some rain and a super cool Sat morning of 55!!!. I'm going to MAKE SO go to Lowes TONIGHT and buy screen and lattice so I can open my window. My stupid cat keeps destroying screens, and when we got screen she couldn't destroy, she went after the FRAMES, and destroyed THEM. :#
  • @biolprof goodness! I'm glad you are ok, please take it a bit easy if you can <3

  • @FyreFlyeRush Yes! The weather has been perfect here the last couple mornings and evenings, too. Apparently there will be one last gasp of summer-type heat the next two days but hopefully that’s it.

    @biolprof Yikes, I’m so glad you’re okay.

I’m realizing similar things as far as pushing too hard. The Spain work trip ended up being utterly draining with late night meetings and material reviews, and I pretty much fell apart when I got back to the States. Then, I got a flu shot yesterday and essentially passed out for the best, longest night’s sleep I’ve gotten in at least a month or so. That’s one flu shot side effect I’ll happily take!
  • Thanks everyone! Doing better today I think! So fingers crossed I get through the day without incident!

@FyreFlyeRush I do think it's possible the baby shifting is a reasonable explanation. My ribs have been sore and I get out of breath easily these days so it could be just a bad case of pressure on the diaphragm combined with panic associated with not feeling like you can breathe. Hopefully if it happens again I can stop the spiral before it gets so bad!
  • @EmilyE13 yay for a good nights sleep! i had mine on friday last week & it took me out completely all day saturday :(
  • @FyreFlyeRush yay for cooler temps. Me thinks you just need to move to your dream Orefon. It's 12C currently and only a high of 15C! The leaves are turning!
  • @biolprof, we've talked about it. We want to wait until DS1 is a little older so he understands WHY we moved. Right now, he enjoys time with both his parents, but if we move, the state would require him to stay here until he's 12.
  • I think acorns are like natures bubble wrap...I always get a childish thrill feeling them crunch under my toes...

  • @kbrown2385 I am one of the rare ones, I love building things from Ikea and find it soothing! Laying out all of the parts and sorting everything first, it's relaxing.
  • @kbrown2385 we just built 2 dressers from ikea too. Which one are you doing? They turned out ok...slightly wonky.  It doesn't help that our floor is crooked so that when the two are next to each other there it looks like they are leaning into each other.  The good news is that they work great.
  • @persnickity it usually goes well with me on directions and Dh actually putting it together. Including ds into it causes more issues than not lol.

@ponyoisfun we bought the Hemnes dresser in white. It turned out really nice! We are replacing the drawer pulls so that will be todays adventure.
  • @FyreFlyeRush - Saturday here in FL, we have a high of 82 and a low of 65. I'm so excited!
  • Why is it so hard to get a stool for an instructor in a classroom? I can't be the only one that has trouble standing for the entire lecture time but doesn't want to have to sit in a low chair the entire time either.....The word on the street is that facilities might have to order one. I would think this was standard. I mean stand up comics get them...
  • Just got a "baby's almost here?" in the work bathroom. 😆😂😭
  • It is so GORGEOUS this morning! Breezy, cool, overcast. Rain came and went  It won't last. Back into the 90s next week, but the cool weather is starting to be more frequent than the hot weather.
  • @biolprof if you get desperate, you could always nick one from the art department!

  • @marebear15 I'll never understand why people ask that question. I get asking when someone is due, but saying almost here yet when we're not yet in the third trimester...

My grandma actually said, wouldn't it be great to have a Christmas baby? Seeing as that would make them a month early, I think I'd actually rather wait. 😉
  • @marebear15 we were picking flooring for our new house this afternoon & the sales guy asked me was I “watching the clock”. I had no idea what he was talking about until he pointed to my bump and said “nearly due”. After the look I gave him & telling him nope, another few months yet l dont think he’ll be so pass remarkable any time soon!
  • I think the circulating rhinoviruses are trying to wage war in my body now. I avoided them for so long and now my time has come....
  • So I fell over in the parking lot just before. I was walking and wearing winter booties, somehow rolled my foot and felt to the side catching myself mainly on my hand and knee then slowly lowering myself to the floor but ended up lying there... so sad and embarrassing. Is this something I need to go get checked out for or? I’m not familiar with this kind of thing
  • @c1kc1kpol1cn1k If you didn't fall down too hard and didn't land on the bump, you should be okay. I'd be more worried about having twisted or sprained your ankle.

You can call your OB, let them know what happened, and ask their opinion. Depending on your medical history they may want you checked out.
