@misshelen86 I've gone back and forth with regretting the IUIs. With DH's low morph I felt we should have been directed to IVF right away but for the time, that being the only issue, it was possible that the sperm wash would up our chances of success by getting rid of the duds. Emotionally I don't think I would have handled going through IVF so soon. Our insurance did cover a lot related to the appointments for IUI so financially it wasn't a big blow to go through it 3 times.
What's your MFI diagnosis? Is it also low morph?

@misshelen86 that’s correct, I’m not on progesterone. I’m so happy you finally got in with the RE for your appointment. It is a very overwhelming process but it’s so good to get the help you deserve so you can have someone else in your corner.. someone with experience and expertise. Did you have a good first impression of your RE, aside from overwhelming?

@kpearse99 I really liked her, she was very nice. I like that we actually are starting to create a plan now. It was just a lot of info at once.
@inthewoods23 He has low count, motility and morph is a bit low. She was the most concerned about the count though. We will see what the repeat results show since he’s only had the one SA so far.

@misshelen86 I know my RE liked to see at least 5mil post wash. Since his numbers aren't great in all the categories you may be better off with the IVF. But that's just my 2 cents

@misshelen86 I'm so glad you had a good appointment today! I'm hoping that this is the beginning of a very happy ending for you!
My BW came in - no interpretation from the dr yet, but I'm pretty savvy with the google, so I'm feeling ok about most of these. I am going to ask to have my progesterone retested post-O because I think that's why I've been spotting so badly.
TSH was 0.78, prolactin was 6.8, LH was 4.0, FSH was 4.8, and estradiol was 38.
HSG is scheduled for Friday Someone please tell me it won't hurt, kthx.

@mvt2003 take some Tylenol or Ibuprofen! My clinic said to take 600mg ibuprofen for my SHG. The pain was there from the inflated balloon of the catheter but once she deflated it a bit I felt a lot better and really had no cramping after either.
Pain killers before the procedures are wonderful!

@kpearse99 I really have no idea what balloon they're referring to. I think it just helps the uterine cavity open a bit 🤷♀️

@mvt2003 definitely take some ibuprofen. Are you having an HSG or hycosy? My hycosy was uncomfortable and a little crampy but it didn't last long. I felt fine the rest of the day. You should wear a pad, too for afterward.
ETA @kpearse99 my procedure had a balloon to open the uterus and push the dye up my fallopian tubes. Not the most comfortable sensation.
Thanks @inthewoods23@emeraldduchess@kpearse99 I’m definitely going to take some Tylenol before I go! I have to go back to work afterwards so here’s hoping!

@inthewoods23 His count was 13 mil. I didn’t think it was that bad, which is why I’m so shocked she offered IVF right away. Does the count usually go down a lot after the wash? Although maybe, like you said, it’s because he’s low on all parameters.

@misshelen86 My understanding is that the sperm wash removes most the immobile/dead sperm.
Here's what we had in our wash report: IUI #1 pre-wash 60mil/ml with 57% motility (progression poor-medium), total motile count 48mil post-wash 7.3mil/ml with 92% motility (progression medium), total motile count 3.4mil
IUI #2 pre-wash 75mil/ml with 56% motility (progression poor-medium), total motile count 46mil post-wash 9mil/ml with 81% motility (progression medium), total motile count 3.7mil
IUI #3 pre-wash 57mil/ml with 68% motility (progression medium), total motile count 59mil post-wash 35mil/ml with 97% motility (progression good), total motile count 17mil
It's true when they say effects from taking vitamins etc isn't seen for 3 months because you can clearly tell DH's motility progression was a lot better for the 3rd IUI and even though the pre-wash count was a lot less than we had previously gotten, way more survived the wash. Personally I would think that most MFI type issues are best mitigated by using IVF over IUI. And honestly, if we didn't use ICSI, I have no idea if we would have had good fertilization numbers after our ER.

@inthewoods23 Thanks for sharing your H’s numbers. I really appreciate this! It’s starting to make sense now why she suggested going for IVF over IUI. I didn’t realize the count would drop so much more after the wash. My H’s total motile count is not very good at all so after the wash we probably wouldn’t have much to work with.

@misshelen86 That is good news about the cyst not growing. I hope that it stays that way and you can avoid the removal for a while yet. Give our dx we went right to IVF. I think that plays a large role in your decision. IF the RE feels that it is something they can compensate for during a sperm wash and IUI, then go for it. But maybe pre-determine a number of attempts before moving to IVF?
@jennifer_louise This would be our second round of IVF. We did one last year so I don't feel as freaked out since I know what to expect. Just the pressure of everything lining up in time for the start date.

@misshelen86 For us, the issue was my DOR, so different issue. I want to say yes, i regret the IUI's because they were a complete waste of money, however, I don't know that I would have felt as good about IVF had I not had those failures to really understand that I was a such poor responder.
If my RE and I knew then how unlikely they were to work, I would have skipped them.
Me trying to understand what phosphatidylserine IGG, IGM, and IGA mean
That plus the beta 2 and cardiolipin results came in this morning. Everything is good there although the phosphatidylserine IGG is at the very top of the range. I think as long as they don't call me everything is fine.
So just chugging along here 🙂

@inthewoods23 I hope they dont call you! I hate when they do that though. We'll only call you if there is an issue. Oh great so now I get to panic all day hoping my phone doesn't ring. lol
Great news!!!! Our PCP wrote the order for MH's SA!!!!! Going to the office tonight to pick it up!!! (We kept my old PCP 45 minutes away because we love him and he was my parents' PCP and MH has so much medical anxiety anyway that switching doctors was not an option even though the office is pretty much the definition of low tech. Literally, I get a handwritten card of my lab results )

@misshelen86 that’s a lot of info and things to think about. Do they think the dermoid cyst will continue to grow if you add medications for an IUI or IVF? I would ask that question for sure because after researching, I see it can cause ovarian torsion and even cancer. I know fertility drugs can be intense! Re: low morph, we had that issue with our SA, but DH abstained for too long and I think that affected it. With just that one sample, IVF would have been recommended. However, history has shown it’s not a huge issue for us but may be in terms of having a THB, so we did IUI. For the IUI, it seemed we had a much higher morph and I think it’s worth YH repeating. @mvt2003 Woohoo! When do you think he will do it? @inthewoods23 Yay for more good news.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@NYTino24 The Dr. Said there’s a very very small risk it could be cancer, but she felt it was unlikely since there has been no further growth. At this point because it’s so tiny she isn’t worried about ovarian torsion, but that’s her concern if it should start growing. I couldn’t find any info about whether fertility drugs would affect a dermoid, but that’s a good question I didn’t think to ask!

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the song "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman (if you're not, please listen to it!)
It came on while I was jogging on the treadmill on my lunch break and I was listening to the words, as I always do because I'm always searching for meaning within songs, and it really hit home, making me cry a bit (because I'm an emotional sap) and it made me think about all of you amazing ladies and all of the "beat downs and bruises" we've endured during this TTC process. We are so much more than what or how this process makes us feel sometimes. We are warriors and fighters and so damn strong.
@mvt2003 add this song to your running playlist... it will pump you up!

Diagnosis (if you've been): Endometriosis, [borderline] PCOS, and unexplained infertility
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): doctor's orders to continue taking birth control until I hear that the meds have shipped
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF!
How are things going?: Just got the call from my RE's office and my insurance approved IVF!!! They are sending in all the prescriptions and prior authorization requests for all the meds today. I have my pre-op, mock transfer, and anesthesiology consult all next Friday, October 18th and then we're starting!!
Any questions?: I'll probably have a million after next Friday's appointments. Any good resources on the med schedule? Will they give me that calendar I've seen on some infertility blogs? Any tips on organizing it all?
GTKY: what are your SO's best/worst traits? Best - he's got a great sense of humor and he's so caring and protective of my heart. He's the best listener and remembers the smallest details of everything I say. Worst - sometimes I think I'm living with a teenager - clothes all over the floor, dirty dishes in the living room, crumbs on the couch, toliet seat up... I told him that I will not have the time or patience to pick up after him once we have kids.
@feather_heather ahhhhh such amazing news!!!! Next Friday will be here before you know it!!

@feather_heather my clinic gave me the damn calendar in list form. I converted it to a Google Sheets calendar as soon as I could to make it easier to understand. Google Sheets and Excel should both have templates of month/year calendars so you just need to fill in the daily items.

@feather_heather That's awesome news! My nurse emailed me a calendar before my ER and FET cycle. Also, I found it helpful to organize the meds , I used baskets I got at target and I printed out instructional sheets on how to mix and do the injections and the first few nights I'd literally follow the instructions step by step. There's a lot of great how to videos online too.
@feather_heather Congrats! It is such a relief to have that financial backing. My RE gave me a calendar and a description of the drugs and procedure which I am keeping in a manilla envelope in a safe place. I keep looking at it to make sure I have all my ducks in a row

@b_1029 I am so sorry about the disappointment & feelings of hopelessness. I pray that it was a fluke & there’s still a chance for the best outcome. This has been a super tough TWW for many of us, it seems. So many (((hugs))) to you♥️
@hanshotfirst77 Right there w you, sister. I’m thinking of you a lot & sending so much positive energy your way. (Just FYI, my progesterone is almost non-existent unless I do PIO, and then it jumps to about 40. So Glad it worked for you!)
@NYTino24 YAY for IUI completion! FX for you that this is it! Re: your SA question, I just asked the same thing at my last appointment. They said the sperm wash does not count as the sperm analysis; they don’t do as many steps.
@inthewoods23 Congrats on the normal BW! If inflammation turns out to be a culprit, there are lots of things you’ll be able to do from diet to natural supplements to medication.
@jennifer_louise I hope your week is going much better than your weekend, & that AF has shown up so you can get the IUI show on the road.
@mvt2003 I’m sorry you’re back here but hooray for CD3 BW & starting to find answers. Also hooray for your cool doc. 😄
@kpearse99 Love your positivity & balanced approach to this TWW. Are you testing the trigger out of your system or just waiting for betas? (Your chart looks amazing so FX you don’t have to wait till the next IUI🤞🏽)
@emeraldduchess So many of us have been riding the TWW crazy train right with you. Party bus, anyone?😆 But seriously, it’s great that you’re feeling calm about this cycle & the potential next one.
@meri-mac Welcome back! I remember you; every time I see your name I add “with buttons all down her back”. Patience is so hard in all of this, but we are here to keep you company.

@keikilove I have not tested the trigger out of my system, I really think I'm just going to wait for betas on Monday! I honestly have no urge to POAS (of course that could change over the weekend at 12 & 13 dpiui though... which the trigger should be gone by then since it was just 250mcg). gah...it would be a dream to not have to wait another cycle but, we'll see, right?! How are you feeling? I know you felt off the other day after the carousel... your betas are at the end of this week, right?
@b_1029 you test tomorrow, right?! How are you feeling?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Took my last Letrozole dose this morning. SHG is scheduled for this Thursday...as long as everything is clear, we should get to start trying again!
How are things going?: Things are good! We are on our way back from vacation...we had such a good time, but we are ready to be home and see all our animals!! I feel refreshed/recharged, and I’m so happy we are finally moving on from the last cycle!
Any questions?: Will I get to see follies when they do the SHG? I’ve never had US monitoring (not even on Clomid, which I know is terrible now), so I’ve never had a chance to see anything during my cycle.
GTKY: What are your SO's best/worst traits? I truly can’t say enough good things...DH is my rock! He is hilarious, so handsome, incredibly caring & loving towards me, a hard worker but always puts family first, and I feel like he always has my best interest in mind...I really did hit the jackpot with him! He lets stress get the best of him at times...I’m also somewhat high-stress, but I try my best to be the voice of reason on things that are out of our control!
@b_1029 ugh, so sorry for the unexpected announcement! I’d say you are right...all the fall/pumpkin announcement will be out in full-force! 😒 I’m hoping that was implantation bleeding...fingers crossed so hard!
@hanshotfirst77 sorry for the up and down emotions! So happy your progesterone went up!! I have everything crossed for you!!
@NYTino24 glad the IUI went well...fingers crossed this is your cycle! Really hope you don’t have the flu though!
@inthewoods23 glad the results you have gotten back so far have been good! Fingers cross that continues!
@jennifer_louise so sorry for the triggering weekend!! Hope AF showed so you can move on with the IUI cycle! Sending good vibes your way!!
@mvt2003 so glad your BW results seem to be normal and you were able to get the SA order!! Ugh, hope the annual party does not include an announcement!!
@kpearse99 I love your positive attitude!! I still have everything crossed for you this cycle...but I really hope it’s next cycle if not!! And as others have said, I think your cycle/LP should be normal since the trigger ensured that O happened.
@emeraldduches glad this was a less stressful cycle for you!! Hoping this is your cycle and IUI won’t even be needed! Has the progesterone affected breast tenderness for you? Mine always seem to be sore after O with Letrozole...so I’m curious if that will be even worse with progesterone added.
@meri-mac sorry time is going so slowly for you! I feel like TTC is a series of continuous waiting games...hope your period of waiting for the ER & transfer starts to go by quickly! Fingers crossed for you!
@nitnat007 hope your results come in quickly so you can move forward with picking a donor and starting IVF this cycle! Everything crossed for you!!
@misshelen86 so glad your appt went well, even though it was overwhelming! No insight about IUI/IVF...but I hope you feel good about whatever you decide to do!
@feather_heather yay for IVF getting approved! Hope next Friday gets here quickly and all goes well!!

@inthewoods23 He has low count, motility and morph is a bit low. She was the most concerned about the count though. We will see what the repeat results show since he’s only had the one SA so far.

9/20- IVF. 9 eggs retrieved, 9 mature, 8 fertilized with ICSI, 7 blasts, 4 PGT-A normal

3/21- FET #2- transferred one 3AB- BFP! Due Dec 2021
12/21- Baby girl born!
Here's what we had in our wash report:
IUI #1
pre-wash 60mil/ml with 57% motility (progression poor-medium), total motile count 48mil
post-wash 7.3mil/ml with 92% motility (progression medium), total motile count 3.4mil
IUI #2
pre-wash 75mil/ml with 56% motility (progression poor-medium), total motile count 46mil
post-wash 9mil/ml with 81% motility (progression medium), total motile count 3.7mil
IUI #3
pre-wash 57mil/ml with 68% motility (progression medium), total motile count 59mil
post-wash 35mil/ml with 97% motility (progression good), total motile count 17mil

That plus the beta 2 and cardiolipin results came in this morning. Everything is good there although the phosphatidylserine IGG is at the very top of the range. I think as long as they don't call me everything is fine.
So just chugging along here 🙂

It came on while I was jogging on the treadmill on my lunch break and I was listening to the words, as I always do because I'm always searching for meaning within songs, and it really hit home, making me cry a bit (because I'm an emotional sap) and it made me think about all of you amazing ladies and all of the "beat downs and bruises" we've endured during this TTC process. We are so much more than what or how this process makes us feel sometimes. We are warriors and fighters and so damn strong.
@mvt2003 add this song to your running playlist... it will pump you up!

*im traveling & phone is going dead so will be back later*

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO (finally)!
