Weekly vs. Daily vs. Whole Month Ticker Change Poll

ETA: You can wait to vote until you feel it’s been discussed enough for you to make your choice.

Many of the recent BMBs have opted to do ticker changes by week to keep people who are in roughly the same stage together. However, many have done daily ticker changes. It's up to us what we want to do. For now, we'll continue doing daily changes as that's what's been started already but we'll keep this poll going until, say October 18? I think most June EDDs should be here by then, and then we'll go by the poll results.

I think it's kind of weird to jump in here and start a poll vs. a discussion. We don't have to do what other BMB are currently doing.

Regardless, I personally like the ticker change because I felt I got to know people from all over the month and it was exciting to see them start to have their babies when I was due towards the end or come back and see them have their babies when I was due at the beginning of the month. I also always looked forward to reaching a new week and could celebrate that each week on that particular day.

I guess I'm just a little put off by it. It seems a bit forward and a bit sudden. You posted board organization and within that made sure to include getting a feel for the board before jumping in, yet you just showed up yourself and already are attempting to change something. I get that this board is hardly developed since there are probably not even 20 intros yet, but it really seems unnecessary and leaning towards a bit controlling. It could have been brought up in randoms, first.

I personally prefer the weekly check ins. My last monthly board did daily and by chance there were only 2 of us in the Tuesday ticker change group. It was lonely.

@lo_c the day of the week where you reach a new week, also the same day of the week as your due date.

@lo_c Basically it breaks the group into subgroups and you do check ins with that group according to when you hit the next week of pregnancy. These include things like how big baby is now compared to whatever you like best. (There are options out there for produce, baked goods, animals, snacks, nerdy things, etc.) How you’re feeling, rants/raves, GTKYs (getting to know you, so random stuff like your five favorite albums), etc.

In the daily option, you would do it based on what day of the week your EDD is. So if your EDD is on a Wednesday, you would do this with the Wednesday group and you’d have people from any Wednesday in the month checking in in that same thread with you.

In the weekly option, you would do it based on which week your EDD is in. First week of June, second week, etc. So you would have people with due dates that fall within the same week as you.

You can check out the daily check-ins here in June and also the weekly check-ins the May group to get a feel for each.

I like the idea of a global ticker change where everyone, regardless of due date, can comment

I don't want to be relegated to a specific due date week group personally.

It looks like I can’t edit the poll itself so please love-tit @saladflambe’s post to vote for a once a week, whole group check-in. If there is momentum on that one, we’ll do a final poll later this month when all the EDDs should be here.

Just curious, but have we made a decision on this? I don’t see a Sunday ticker change so does that mean I’d be talking to myself?

We should just make a monthly ticker change and everyone can comment when they want to like @saladflambe said. It'll be less messy in Nov but I'm good with you starting an Oct ticker change now if you want to.

PS @hanshotfirst77 For this weekend, I’m all for a weekend ticker change. Last EDD was a Saturday and it was always super quiet. This one is a Sunday so it would at least be you & me!

@hanshotfirst77 generally someone who is due on that day of the week starts the check in. Anyone can do it.

I think our board is still super slow, so right now the check in for everyone makes the most sense. There are not that many people at all regularly commenting here.
