One of DH and I's mutual friends casually asked us to pet sit for him. For a week. For $20. His house is 15 miles away - 5 of which is really sh*tty, unmaintained dirt road that you have to drive 5mph on. It would take us at least 90 minutes a day to do this...and his dog is a giant, untrained mess.
Not that we don't want to help him out, but damn that's completely unreasonable and unrealistic. DH said he'd do a couple days, but I gave him the number of a teenager who he could hire to do the rest (who will charge him $15/day).

@stassischroeder I would lol at that so hard... considering I pay 18 a day for dog walking and about 75 a night for the gucci pet hotel we use when we leave town. 20 don't get you shit.

@chichiphin THANK YOU. I mean, this is a small town, and he's our friend... so price points are lower, but even I paid $15/day for dog walking when my pup was still earth-side.

@stassischroeder that’s crazy... I paid someone more than that to watch my hamster for a week and all they had to do was refill his water and food like twice and check to make sure he was still alive so I wouldn’t worry as much...

@varimama, funny story on hamsters.. I had my friend watch my hamster while I was on vacation, and she texted me saying there had to be something wrong, she didn't run on her wheel and she collected a bunch of shavings in this one spot. After my vacation and picking up my hamster, I found that I didn't have just 'one' hamster anymore - I had 9. My hamster apparently gave birth to 8 babies and that was why she acted strange

So H and I went away for the weekend to this beautiful resort. We spent a lot of $$, and we knew it would be expensive. It was our 5 year and a babymoon so we were ok splurging.

HOWEVER.

When I called to make our reservation the lady asked if I wanted to have champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the room when we arrived. She said it would be a small upcharge, which I assumed, so fine whatever. Well when we checked out today it was $193. For a bottle of champagne (that I couldn’t even drink) and SIX chocolate covered strawberries. Y’all. I was in shock. That’s excessive. H was not happy about that either. 🤦🏼‍♀️

@treetop19 oh my goodness that story is pretty funny! I’ve always had males so that’s never happened to me though some of my hamsters were adopted because friends found themselves in that situation 🤣

@miss.sally wow that is pretty crappy to call $193 a small up-charge! I hate when people aren’t upfront about stuff like that!

AFM I’m pissed at USPS because I was supposed to have 2 packages delivered today and they weren’t. When I checked tracking it said they were unable to access delivery location. I was home during the “attempted” delivery and there is nothing blocking my mailbox or front steps and they never rang the doorbell... I called and she put a note on the packages to call me if there is an issue tomorrow. I swear our mailman just gets lazy or hates us for some reason and decides not to come to our door sometimes and marks some random reason why he “couldn’t” deliver the package...

@EmilyLove25 SO TIRED OF THESE EXTREMELY HOT DAYS! Sorry for the caps, I'm just over how hot it is constantly. It is in the 90s here today and is supposed to stay that hot for the next few days. I'm so over it. It's basically October, ffs!

@treetop19 Bahahah that's hilarious about your hamster. I'd be wanting to know how closely my friend even looked if she didn't notice 8 extra little hammies hidden in the corner, hahaha.

@miss.sally Omg that is NOT a "small" up-charge! Ridiculous! I hope the strawberries were the best ones you've ever freaking eaten.

@varimama I hate when packages are supposed to be delivered on a certain date and they just don't come. Like, why?! I'd be so mad at the mailman.

AFM, I have a whole list of things that are pissing me off today.

I've mentioned my dog being sick and getting progressively more difficult to deal with. That situation hasn't gotten any better, and I made the mistake of venting about it to my mother, which was the wrong thing to do. Now she's decided that I'm a bad pet parent because I am stressed out by his behavior. I was up from midnight until 5 AM with him last night because he was pacing and shaking and panting. It was exactly how he behaves during a storm, but the weather was perfect. He did this on Friday and Saturday nights too but I was less fed up about it because I didn't have to get up at 6 AM for work the next day. I legitimately cannot sit up all night with him every night and still go to work in the mornings, and I can't afford to take off work because any time off is being used for baby-related things. I also can't afford for this dog to keep destroying baby gates and chewing through door knobs. It's insane! Not to mention, he's trying to run away all the time and it's so disheartening.

I've also mentioned my shitty plumbing and how the plumber couldn't come until today. I went all weekend without working plumbing, and showering at my parents' is not ideal because they live 15 minutes away. The plumber is coming today finally but they couldn't even give me an estimated time they might show up. So I'm at work, trying to be productive, but basically "on call" for the plumber. Lord help me if they call from my driveway and get mad that I'm not there!

On top of that, my house is being refinanced to get my ex-husband's name off the mortgage and that is proving to be a nightmare. Somehow my monthly payments are going to go UP even though I'm putting a lot more money down this time as a down payment. I've used a mortgage calculator and everything to try to figure it out myself but it's so confusing and I feel like everyone is giving me the run around or acting like I'm a moron for having questions about how things are calculated.

I'm just so tired, you guys.

@varimama You *should* be able to get shipping $ back from whoever mailed them if they didn't come on time? I mean, that's mega annoying and they should come on time. I'm glad you complained--one time I complained to Amazon and they were like "okay!" and then they showed up later that day with the packages.

TB is being super glitchy and taking ages to load on my home internet. Curious to see if it's faster via my school internet. I'm also feeling super sick these days again. Yay, week 15. So sorry to be a bad participator this weekend/today. Maybe I will feel better tomorrow? And TB will work better? Big ughs.

@Malidocious I really hope things slow down for you soon. Your mom shouldn’t have been rude about your dog. Your feelings are completely understandable and reasonable. And I really hope the plumber came and everything is fixed. And that mortgage stuff just sounds so frustrating and that makes no sense you’d be paying more.

@stassischroeder $20 sounds ridiculous. Either ask for it as a favor bc you are friends and offer $0 or make a reasonable offer for payment. And for ur commute to tend to the untrained dog, I would have said no regardless of what he offered to pay me. $20 is almost offensive. I’d rather just they ask me to do it for free.

@Malidocious you deserve to be stressed and exhausted in that situation. I’ve had plumbing issues and it was terrible and expensive. Fingers crossed you get some rest tonight.

@varimama I HATE USPS! When I was pregnant with DD I ordered nipple butter from amazon. The mail lady gave it to another house on a different street. I went to the post office to file a claim and they said they would look into it. A week later I got this weird hand written note from the mail lady saying she was sorry and was going to try to find my package. In the meantime amazon sent me another one. Flash forward to a month later and I got the original nipple butter back, USED, in a weird gift bag. That went right into the garbage.

Stayed at my in laws this weekend and today for the Jewish holiday. Was with my BIL and his wife, SIL, and my in laws. I went into TWO different bathrooms at their house today and there WAS UNFLUSHED SHIT IN THE TOILET. Needless to say I vomited in the first bathroom I visited after I flushed and the second bathroom I went in I just ran out. Turns out it was both of my siblings-in-law who are both in their mid-30s. I can’t even.

@stassischroeder Oh. Hell. No. This brings back memories from a few years ago when I helped check on my friend's dogs while her family was in Disney World. They have major anxiety and wouldn't go outside for me, and they shit all over the house, so I felt like I had to clean it up. She told me not to worry about it, but you could seriously smell it the second the door was open and she would've come back to a shit storm. I got a $25 gift card to Kohl's. Never again.

@EmilyLove25 We could reach 100 today? WTAF? We're supposed to be in the 70s Friday and I CANNOT WAIT.

@miss.sally That is so expensive! I LOVE champagne, so I'd be extra mad I couldn't drink it, even if it was overpriced.

Friends I know it’s not Monday but effing hell we just had a whole ordeal. Anyway, I was going to go to bed at 9:30 tonight, and as I was getting up off the couch to start my routine, did I not see an effing mouse scurry across the living/dining room. I freaked out, woke DH up and DH and I began the mouse hunt. We basically tore the living room apart to find it. We eventually caught it eventually in a bucket but we didn’t know what to do from there.

It’s currently in the upside down bucket in our garage with a gallon of paint on top to keep in places and its taped to a big cutting board. Mouse is still there! We were at a loss since it’s almost midnight and I have to be up at 5. I guess we will deal with it tomorrow, it definitely got injured in the process. Just couldn’t think of a humane way to kill it since if we set it free it will come back in.

DH and I are first time homeowners and so this whole owning a house thing is new to us compared to our 21st floor condo building we rented before. We had other pests there (ew, roaches - the WORST) but having to do this one on our own was not something I needed before bed on a Tuesday night 😂 DH is currently drinking beer and I’m so jealous

@dunder_mifflin UGH that's the worst! I discovered a mouse in my apartment years ago, that was in an old house. It was literally the day after my ex moved out, so I was PISSED that I had to deal with it myself. I really hope your case is better than mine, because the landlord had a guy come place traps, and there were several mice up in there.

@mrsvp614 holy 💩!!! I hope it’s just the one! I am encouraged that it had no where to go and no cracks to sneak into since we just renovated - I think it just came in that night through the garage since the weather is dropping but you never know! I literally put in a request for pest control through jiffy that night. Our inspection was clean but you just never know!

but in terms of setting them free, you have to drive a decent distance with one or else they find their way back. It’s so crazy

@dunder_mifflin Omg! I lived at Olympic National Park for a summer and was originally supposed to live in this mouse infested fire fighter house (yay fire fighters, boo mice). The place had so many mice and I was so creeped out that I went into town and (like a moron) bought a bunch of sticky traps. Within 15 minutes of me turning off the lights, a mouse got only it's back paws caught. It was running around and I had no idea what to do with it. I finally just put it outside on the porch and it was gone the next day. I still feel so so bad for the little guy, but I didn't knew what else to do! I hope that's the last of the rodents you see!!
