  • @rikiteacup, that is so ridiculous.
  • Yesterday, one wanted to give up her baby for adoption because it was the wrong gender. She got very nice responses though. Even though some of these posts are crazy, there is always a lot of good advice/support given.

  • @rikiteacup What in the actual heck is wrong with people?! 🙄
  • @doodleoodle Honestly in that case I would agree the nice adoptive parents are the better option. But as a human being to say something like that - they are just an awful person. Like I can't even imagine!

  • @rikiteacup so ridiculous! I used to work at an OBGYN in college and there were tons of women who would leave their appts crying because they were upset about the sex of the baby. It was baffling to me then and still is now. I can understand some disappointment, but these posts about not wanting to tell family and adoption are nuts!
  • @celticknotfire Oh my goodness! How exciting to let that secret out! Congrats, girl!!!

secrets like that are hard! I was telling my coworker that we will announce what the baby is when we find out, but will probably keep the name's hush hush until baby is born. I told her I'm super worried about slipping up with that! It was hard enough to not tell people we were expecting!
  • Just wanted to comment on the gender disappointment comments. We struggled for 2 years to get pregnant and so I thought I'd be happy with either, but when I found out I was having a girl, I had a lot of emotions about it; worrying what kind of role model I'll be for her and feeling like this just got a whole lot more difficult... (I didnt have a good relationship with my mom until I was an adult). After a few days of processing my emotions, I'm over it and now completely excited. Maybe the other posters just need time to process their emotions too?
  • @rebornlotus I agree with @Swiftlet, it is normal to have some disappointment or worries about raising a specific gender. We were talking about people who take it to the extreme like wanting to give the baby up for adoption or being ashamed to tell people. And the worst, from a scientific standpoint, is women apologizing to their partner to the point of being martyrs for not "giving" them the gender they wanted.

  • @rikiteacup I am laughing over your last comment regarding the worst thing "from a scientific standpoint." I get what you meant to say, but my tired and slightly emotionally overtaxed brain needs to find humour is ridiculous places.
