those experiencing RLP: I’ve noticed mine is worse and more frequent when I don’t drink enough water. Same for Charlie horses, which haven’t started yet but I remember them from last pregnancy. They would wake me up in the night. Fun.
@kantobean I’m just starting to get leg cramps that feel like the beginning of a Charlie horse- will definitely keep up my water! Charlie horses are so miserable 😭😭
@kantobean I appreciate your sympathy! It's annoying how (I'm 14w0d today) all the stuff I am reading about first tri being over is like "welcome to feeling better finally!" And I'm like--am i? Thanks for the water tip. I am trying my darnedest to drink enough water--it's so hard to balance that with eating bc I get so full so quickly. I wonder if that might change if/when I "pop"?
@AmyKDuffy I have! I've been really bad about drinking enough water and when I am better about staying hydrated, the headaches are better. The nurse told me I should come in if water and tylenol don't make things better.
@AmyKDuffy There's been lots of headache chatter on here, since they're very common at this stage and during pregnancy. The recommendation is, as @keeksie84 mentioned, trying to hydrate, or Tylenol. I usually feel better after having a bit of caffeine too. But of course, talk to your doc if it's severe or you get dizzy, which could indicate BP issues.
@amykduffy tylenol is class b in terms of pregnancy meds— which is second best to take next to class a, which barely anything falls under. class c are the iffy-er ones.
today, i feel like i feel nauseated when i’m hungry and then nauseated when i do eat. the only thing that works is distraction and distraction big enough to distract me is hard to find.
@stassischroeder Yup, I am on a steady intake of unisom at night & b6 during the day. And it's all hit or miss-- like, yesterday I felt alright, the day before okay-not-great-ever-tho, and today garbage-mostly. At least I'm not throwing up? But there's a constant pain I have--like a constant vague nausea.
Not sure if this is a symptom, an "I'm 35 & old" thing or just a me thing--but i have what i can only describe as feeling like a "pinched nerve" on my left lower back--I have been lying on that side a lot bc it's usually how I sleep and also trying to prep for post-week-20 when you're supposed to only side sleep. (I kind of sleep all over the place, but primarily on my side and usually that one)--any way, since i've been doing a lot of lying around, DH thinks that's what has caused this. It just started yesterday, but it's making sleeping on that side hard. Blargh.
@stassischroeder DH actually mentioned that last night. We're behind on some bills this month, but I get paid on the first & he hopefully will have some money coming in soon. I feel like he's been working 7 days a week lately and bringing in zero dollars? (as he is self-employed this is unfortunately... possible) anyway--when we have the $, it's something slowly moving up to the top of my list. Thanks for reiterating it's a good idea, I will feel better about spending the $.
@kagesstarshroom Could it be sciatic pain? I had it awful in my third trimester and my OB prescribed Physical Therapy which was covered by insurance and wonderful. It was a mini massage of the area and then they taught me stretches to alleviate the pain. I don’t know if it happens this early in pregnancy for some, but you can probably google for some stretches at least. Feel better!
This is not a pregnancy symptom, but my right ear periodically plugs up and it's driving me absolutely crazy. When it does, my voice gets really loud in my head. Of course it only seems to happen when I'm teaching and it makes me feel like a crazy person! /rant
17 weeks here and having what I think is heartburn...my high-functioning anxiety is fairly certain it's a heart attack lol but rationally I know better. I've never had heartburn before but this is horrible! I feel this like stinging/burning pain directly underneath the bottom of my sternum. Anyone have some tips? Hope you ladies with nausea are finding some relief soon I struggled until 13ish weeks and then it vanished. Food aversions are still realllll though...I basically live off of a toddler diet (lucky charms, crackers, water, pasta).
@keeksie84 I went to my doctor thinking I had an ear infection because I was having the same issue! She said that it is (surprisingly) a common pregnancy issues...I guess our mucus membranes are all thrown off and apparently since they all connect, our ears get affected too. Lovely lol
@mommyxthree2020 yes! chronic heartburn sufferer over here- I actually take a prescription so that helps and is pregnancy safe, but Tums actually help a lot. I take like 3 at a time. My heartburn feels like chest pain and tightness, so don't worry! You can also ask your doctor what OTC you can take. Feel better!
@lemonlove86 thank you!!! I'm going to pick up some Tums to pop like candy later today, lol. I feel so bad that you have chronic heartburn, that SUCKS! I feel like such a baby right now! Thank you for the advice and well wishes
@keeksie84 something like that happens to me too - where I can hear myself breathing through my ear and hear myself talking. It really bugs me when it happens. I've had it happen non-pregnant too, but it seems to flare up more often when pregnant.
@mommyxthree2020 +1 to the Tums. I usually get the "chewy" version rather than the regular tablets. Haven't had heartburn quite yet with this pregnancy but definitely with my prior ones later on, so I'm sure it will arrive soon.
@mauvelousone I'm with you on the heartburn! I've heard it means that the baby is going to have hair, too! I hope it's true, lol. Otherwise this heartburn can F off! It'll hit me around 4 PM and then just linger on and off all evening. Rude.
Also with you on the questioning what's happening down there... baby? Poop? Gas? Sitting weird? WHO KNOWS!
