How are you feeling?: why am I still so sick? Also sorry if this is TMI but I’m battling really bad constipation so I’ve added prunes to my diet. I’ve already switched to a prenatal with magnesium and am taking stool softeners plus drinking 100-120oz of water so I’ll be asking Thursday what else I can do. I’m so bloated and uncomfortable by evening and not much is coming out.
Cravings/Aversions: Still can’t stand sweet foods. Today I had a craving for Cheetos so I got a little pack out of the vending machine at DS’s gymnastics.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Our elective u/s was so much fun! It was nice to just relax and watch the baby without worrying about a ton of measurements! I’m also so excited to be having another boy! It means we don’t need much in terms of clothes and we don’t have to paint the nursery plus I think brothers will be so much fun!
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? I love all the fall activities, apple picking, corn maze, hay rides, Halloween 🎃, Thanksgiving, watching the leaves turn, drinking cider, pumpkin flavored pastries if I get over my aversions!
Me: 33 | DH: 34 Married: October, 19, 2015 EDD 2/22/17 DS1 born on 3/2/17 EDD 3/8/20 DS2 born on 3/10/20 EDD 11/24/23 (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
Upcoming
appts: U/S tomorrow. Because of our slightly high NT
reading at 12 weeks, they said we could elect to do an early ultrasound to look
at the heart anatomy even though there is a 99% chance everything is fine. Send
all the good vibes that babe looks okay! I am getting blood work for spina
bifida tomorrow as well.
How
are you feeling?: Pretty
good! I have a cold and horrible fall allergies, but otherwise I am doing well.
Cravings/Aversions:
Still having aversions to meat.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
Raves – I am going to Palm Springs
with 8 of my girlfriends next week. And I just booked a girls’ trip with my
college friends for January. I’m having all the fun before this baby comes. Rant
– **TW** one of my good friends just found out about a significant birth defect
at 37 weeks, my anxiety is through the roof right now with all that can go
wrong, trying to practice gratitude and staying the moment otherwise it’s just
overwhelming **end TW**
GTKY:
Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Fall hikes!
How are you feeling?: Better. I feel like horsesh*t if I take my zoloft anytime but the evening, but as long as I keep that straight it's not too bad. Still having some headaches, still peeing ALL. THE. TIME., but I feel like the nausea and exhaustion has lightened up this week (so far. might change. nothing is consistent. ever.)
Cravings/Aversions: still craving nachos. I think I've eaten them 4 times in the last 3-4 days. Last night DH took a nacho off my plate and I warned him that he was on thin ice Hopefully I can at least TRY to eat a little healthier soon. Although that didn't work out last pregnancy LOL.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant: Poor DS is getting molars. THANK GOD it hasn't disrupted his sleep *knock on wood* but he's certainly been crankier, and we've been going through ibuprofen like water. Rave: I think I'm starting to feel a little movement trying to enjoy this stage before I get to the stage where the kicks get uncomfortable and keep me awake at night.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? just enjoying the cooler weather and changing leaves

@varimama hmmmm... how much magnesium are you getting? And what form (chloride, sulfate, etc.)? So exciting you're having another boy! And, now I want cheetos lol.
@jenEP sending such good luck for tomorrow's ultrasound! I'm sure everything will be fine And OMG how awful about your friend's LO Did she have any prenatal testing done? Just trying to ease my own mind here.
@varimama Congrats on team blue!! I had similar thoughts about having a second girl (less new clothes to buy, etc.). I've been taking Miralax every night and it's really helped me. Not sure why I can't tag jenEP, but it won't let me. Good luck and positive vibes for tomorrow! Let us know how it goes. Your trip sounds so fun, but OMG about your friend. How terrible and scary! @stassischroeder I've been craving nachos too! And now I want need them for lunch.
EDD/W+D: .3/12 15+4
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Pink
Baby is the size of a(n): 4 inches
Upcoming appts: 10/1
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I've been having a bit of nausea here and there for the past few weeks. Nothing like a lot of you, so I feel bad complaining. I'm also still having occasional headaches.
Cravings/Aversions: I haven't been eating a ton, which is weird for me. I usually have a big appetite. I've been craving a lot of soup and cheese toast. And now nachos, lol.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Middle school kids on a Monday, man. Got me a little cranky. Other than than, not much.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Sweater weather!
Upcoming appts: 10/1 and we will get to schedule our anatomy u/s then!!
How are you feeling?: it’s like a roller coaster over here, week 14 was my first week of throwing up, made it a week without puking at all, and then yesterday afternoon I threw up again A LOT. It’s super tough feeling like that at work because my job is very physical so I’m hoping the puking subsides soon.
Cravings/Aversions: I have had basically 0 appetite since I found out I was pregnant. I have lost 10lbs- hoping I get my appetite back very soon!
Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant- we had a housewarming party this weekend and I made some amazing apps and desserts that I didn’t feel like eating 😣
Rave- we are finally only a month from finding out the gender of baby and we are so excited!
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? SCARY MOVIE TIME! Plus all my Halloween favorites, and caramel apple spices at Starbucks 😁
How are you feeling?: eh. So-so. I’ve been feeling inconsistent movement and I’m ready to feel them all the time. It always helps my anxiety. I’m still nauseous. I didn’t take my meds again and while I didn’t throw up, I was very yucky feeling all day. So I’m back on them.
Cravings/Aversions: eh. Pretty much aversions to everything. All I crave is salad and sometimes Italian bread. Oh and Klondike bars.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I’m SO tired of the heat. I want fall weather here. Mostly so I can wear leggings and boots and sweaters.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? we love taking the kids to the pumpkin patch. How basic of us. Lol. But really there’s a super cool one about 40 mins away that is basically a giant festival with food and activities. We spend the whole day and it’s tons of fun.
@varimama I was given a stool softener in my last pregnancy and it was a game changer. Maybe ask your OB for options!
@jenEP I’m so sorry for your friend. Those late term diagnoses are awful. I have a friend who actually lost her baby at 39 weeks. Two days before her scheduled c-section. It was/is terrible.
@stassischroeder ohmygoodness now all I can think about is nachos. I want those STAT. With jalapeños. Yum.
@emilyace I’m sorry you’re throwing up so much!! It’s such a horrible thing.
@miss.sally OMG I read "blackberry or avocado" and was like "those are two completely different size things"... then I realized you meant a blackberry phone LOL.
Upcoming appts: Oct 7, regular check up, anatomy scan to be scheduled for the next week
How are you feeling?: better - finally getting over a cold, nausea has completely subsided. I haven't felt any movement yet, which makes me a little nervous.
Cravings/Aversions: been craving all kinds of fast food this past week, and spent entirely too much money on it (because, of course, I can't just get myself something, have to include the family as well.) I have been constantly hungry and feel like only high-calorie foods are hitting the spot. I am afraid for my next weigh-in. lol.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant for DD's behavior lately (she's 13..) she has been 'forgetting' to do a lot of important things or things that I ask her to do. I don't know if it's a case of 'selective' memory, where she conveniently forgets things she doesn't want to do, or if she is genuinely having some troubles. (My sister has ADD, as does many of the family members on DD's dad's side... so I worry DD might have inherited it as well.) Her forgetfulness lately kind of reminds me of how my sister was growing up.. she got all the usual jokes of 'you'd forget your head if it wasn't attached.'
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity like @miss.sally, ditto on the pumpkin patch. we have a pretty neat one nearby, and I love taking the kids out to an actual farm and getting the whole 'farm' fall experience like I had as a kid. I also love halloween and taking the kids out trick or treating - our neighborhood usually goes all out with decorations and it's fun to see.
@varimama, ugh, sorry you are feeling so sick. feel better soon! congrats on the baby boy!
@jenep, fx that everything looks good for you. that is scary about your friend.
@stassischoeder, I'm with you.. all I crave is junk at the moment.
@keeksie84, as a mom to a middle schooler.. I don't know how you can deal with all of them in a room at once. my DD's attitude is enough to make me cranky. lol
EDD/W+D: March 13th (Friday the 13th oooh), I am 15+3
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out!! Hopefully this Wednesday! We are doing an elective US after work and I hope the baby decides to cooperate. We did the Sneak Peek blood test that said it's a boy, which I would be happy with except I don't really trust those because of how easily contaminated the results can get. Either way, as long as the baby is healthy, I don't give one single iota about whether it's a girl or a boy.
Baby is the size of a(n): A pear, an apple, a navel orange, or an avocado depending on which apps I have. Otherwise, my partner's website is a little more fun and says baby is the size of a baseball or a scotch egg.
Upcoming appts: Real appointment for checkup and second trimester blood screen is this Thursday. I'm fully expecting to hear about how fat I've gotten, LOL! Wednesday is the day we are going for our elective US. Busy week for baby!
How are you feeling?: Overall, a lot better than I had been up for most of this pregnancy. I'm calming down (on and off, lol) and am able to start to enjoy the pregnancy as it progresses. Just finished the pattern for my cross-stitch so I can announce officially on social media so hopefully I can get the materials for that this week and get it knocked out soon! I'm excited about that. I'm still pretty tired and my emotions are all over the freaking place, but I'm feeling happier and happier despite fighting headaches most days, no matter how much water I drink.
Cravings/Aversions: I wake up every single day wanting cottage cheese or crackers and cheese (specifically this little fun pack from Cracker Barrel that has two kinds of cheeses and either mini-Ritz crackers or pretzels). I also crave Steak n Shake cheese fries a lot and Arby's roast beefs, although I don't give in to those as often as I'd like! Grilled cheeses are another of my common cravings. My aversions are for most meats. They just don't sound or smell appetizing. I'd much rather snarf down carbs. My meat aversion is incredibly strong when I'm the one who has to cook it... makes me gag! Even when my partner is cooking something, like beef for taco night, I have to leave the kitchen and go to a nicely ventilated area otherwise it just ruins my entire appetite.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I'll copy/paste from the PGAL post. Mine is a mixture of a rant and a rave, but it should honestly just be a rave. My sister found out she's pregnant again over the weekend (they've been trying for a baby this entire year and just got the BFP on the stick on Friday). My first thought was of course happiness for my sister, but then my PGAL brain clicked in and I couldn't help but think that something is going to go wrong in my pregnancy and my sister will go on to have a second healthy baby, and it'll hurt so much worse because I'll be forced to be around this infant who should be the same age as my baby. I realize these thoughts are completely unwarranted and I haven't said anything to anyone except you girls, but dang... can't my brain let me enjoy anything?
Secondary rant... my baby dog likely has cognitive dysfunction. It explains all the weird health-related issues he's been having. He's going to see the vet again on Friday to hopefully get some answers and maybe some medication beyond the Prozac he's been taking. We initially thought his depression/anxiety had just gotten worse, but it seems to be a lot more than that, sadly. Makes me so sad because he's the best boy. He's 12 and will be 13 in March, so I don't feel like he's that old... but I just want him to be happy and healthy.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? ALL THE THINGS. The weather cooling down is something I always look forward to. Pleasantly warm days with cool evenings = THE BEST. I really love haunted hay rides the most, but I'm not sure a hayride of that caliber is particularly safe right now. I also love pumpkin patches and long walks to see the color changing foliage! Bonfires, too!! With s'mores! I love Fall so much. :-D Halloween is the icing on the cake -- costumes and parties and scary movies eeeeee! Warm apple cider... I'm getting sentimental over here.
--------------
@varimama Constipated over here, too! I feel ya on the painful bloat. TMI but I have found that the cereal Special K Fruit & Yogurt goes riiiiiight through me, so maybe that's worth a shot? Otherwise, I won't poop for days and it's beyond uncomfortable. Yay for another little boy!! I'm so excited for you!
@jenEP Wishing you so much good luck at your ultrasound tomorrow! Also, I have awful fall allergies AND a cold right now, too! I feel you! So jealous about your girls' trip! On a much more serious note, I am sincerely sorry to hear about your friend's baby... what type of birth defect, if you don't mind me asking? This information has sky-rocketed my anxiety. So freaking scary, especially considering they had all the prenatal testing done... wow!
@stassischroeder Well now I want nachos, lol! Good luck at your checkup tomorrow! I feel you on the unhealthy eating... except two nights ago, my partner made THE BEST broccoli I have ever eaten and I ate all of it by myself. I gave him like two pieces Maybe it's a sign that I'll be able to start eating a little better soon. Also YAY for feeling movement! I am so jealous! When did you feel movement your first pregnancy?
@emilyace Aw what a bummer that you made all the delicious foods but didn't have the appetite to eat them. FX your appetite will come back soon!!
@miss.sally Jealous that you can feel the baby move! Huge bummer that you're still sick.
@treetop19 I'm afraid for my next weigh in too, lol!! Hopefully our OBs will be kind. How soon did you feel movement with your previous pregnancy(ies), if you don't mind me asking? I've yet to feel any movement, but I'm a FTM.
Baby is the size of a(n): Navel orange/newborn baby bottle
Upcoming appts: 10/1 is the next visit to the OB, 10/18 is the anatomy scan, week after that we have a fetal echo.
How are you feeling?: My back and sides hurt from bending the wrong way and sleeping on my side. I'm getting more nervous about sleeping on my back, but I keep waking up on my back regardless of how I fell asleep.
Cravings: Grilled cheese sandwiches. Ice cream. Peanut butter. Fried foods with ketchup. I'm doing my best to only give in to scant amounts.
Rants/Raves: My entire family (including me) is obsessed with losing weight, and "Carbs aren't good for you" and/or "Our current crash diet is Jesus" are not good conversations for my psychological health while I'm trying to keep Olaf (baby's nickname) alive.I'm worried I'll accidentally starve my baby and they're worried I'll gain more than 25 pounds. I've got it covered with portion control and exercise, but face eternal judgement if I'm not giving up the correct food group this year.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity?
I'm thinking of convincing DH to take me on a babymoon into the mountains west of us, look at some leaves and drink some cider. We love pumpkin spice here in our house, but as the leaves ever so slowly turn (it's autumn but the summer weather is keeping them green a long time) I begin to desire apple things. Maybe I'll make a healthy apple crumble this week.
Malidocious Thanks for the love about my friend's baby. Thankfully, it sounds like the baby will likely be healthy and have good quality of life, but with physical differences. I feel weird stating the actual diagnosis over the internet since this isn't a closed group. I always remind myself that I know dramatically more people who've had healthy pregnancies than the opposite, it's just the scary scenarios that stick in our brain.
@miss.sally I also had a friend during my last pregnancy with a similar situation as your friend. It was and still is earth shattering.
@treetop19 I would honestly take her in to be evaluated for ADHD if you can. A lot of girls with ADHD have symptoms onset or strengthen after puberty (hormone changes can effect symptoms). I have ADHD and while I was diagnosed in early childhood, symptoms post puberty sucked so much more.
@Malidocious My sister also got pregnant with her second child shortly after I did and I definitely had the same fears (still do tbh). It's PGAL. I'm also the first person she told and she was just so excited, but all I could think was that I was going to lose this one too and she'd have a healthy child. Its lightened up a bit since things have been going so well. Talking to another friend who has experienced PGAL helped me a lot too since I couldn't really admit to my sister these types of fears.
EDD/W+D: 15w3d
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Green!
Baby is the size of a(n): Navel orange
Upcoming appts: Oct 8th for OB and Oct 30th for anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: Just ok. Super tired of being gassy and its getting so much worse. I am burping my life away, even after cutting out suspected causes.
Cravings/Aversions: Random and sudden. Yesterday it was bacon.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I've been suspecting I've been feeling movement for a couple of weeks on and off, but I'm still not certain. I'm so confused by it because with my daughter I didn't feel any movement until 20 weeks and at that point I could feel her on the outside too(anterior placenta). This time the placenta is posterior, so who knows. My OB said probably around 16 weeks I'd feel movement.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Pumpkin picking! We'll probably go twice.
@jenEP I'm jealous of your trip! Sorry about your friend! That and @miss.sally 's stories are so worrisome! @stassischroeder There you go again, making me want nachos! @Malidocious Your fall list makes me so excited!
EDD/W+D: 3.10/16w
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Blue
Baby is the size of a(n): Dill pickle (yum!)
Upcoming appts: Oct 8.
How are you feeling?: I pulled my back last night, and I'm feeling ROUGH today at work sitting in this chair at my computer. I may try the heating pad when I get home, because it's pretty brutal. I'm now waddling like I'm 8 months pregnant because it hurts to walk.
Cravings/Aversions: I made some banana bread last night that's great, and we'll see how long it lasts! I've also wanted chocolate milk every morning, and orange soda later in the day. Weird.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant: my damn back! Rave: Today is the day my ILs are supposed to finally go back home! It's been a long 9 weeks and we're ready to get our house and our routine back. I really hope DS handles it okay. Questions: I'll probably head over to the STM thread, but I don't even know where to start for potty training. DS peed on the potty twice last week, and pooped once at home... then peed on the potty at daycare yesterday. I'm hoping daycare can take the lead, and I know I'll need to be more consistent at home, but I'm not sure if I should go ahead and put him in undies, or what.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? All of the things! Cooler weather/hoodies/sweaters, and I'm so glad DS is old enough now to enjoy the awesome things to do, like the pumpkin patch, Halloween at the zoo, Jack O Lantern spectacular, trick-or-treating, etc. Plus Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!
@Malidocious. I’m sorry about your fears with your sister being pregnant. I had that happen with my first pregnancy. SIL was due a week after me and I lost our baby and she went on to have a healthy pregnancy. It was horrible. And MIL and SIL would get really angry at me when I wouldn’t gush about her pregnancy. Nobody understood and it sent me into a deep depression. And then she got pregnant AGAIN while H and I were struggling with infertility and I couldn’t even talk to her. We ended up getting KU and having DS about three months after theirs. But it was horrible basically my entire pregnancy worrying about the same thing happening. I still hold a grudge and it’s been 4 years. Which is ridiculous. But you feel what you feel.
@miss.sally, that sounds awful that they weren't understanding of your loss. It seems like people who haven't had a loss just don't 'get it' sometimes.
@malidocious, to answer your movement question, as a FTM I didn't feel movement until 20 plus weeks, and then not very often afterwards. DD wasn't a super active baby, and when she was active, I couldn't feel her much due to placenta placement. to ease my worries that she was still ok, I'd have to drink a sugary beverage and lie still and really pay attention to feel any kicks. with DS as a STM, I started feeling flutters around 18 weeks, and he was a mover and shaker the entire time. later on, he kicked hard and often. this time around I'm 15 weeks, still haven't felt anything yet.
@aerie_star, I think you're right about taking her in for a screening. I had no idea symptoms got worse around puberty, but that makes a lot of sense with what we're dealing with now.
@mrsvp614, my DS regularly poops in the potty but pees in it only sporadically, so I keep him in pull-ups. I tried putting him in underwear one day and we had a ridiculous amount of accidents, so I'm just taking that as a sign that he's not ready yet. he still doesn't seem to understand that there is a way to keep his underwear dry - right after he wet himself I'd explain, that's why you go pee in the potty. and then he'd wet himself again. lol. a good trick for potty-training boys I've heard from DH's grandma - to get them to pee standing up, get an old coffee can and put a sticker in the bottom, and tell them to pee on the sticker (helps them practice with aim, and they get excited about the sticker if you let them pick one out.)
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. No more nausea so that's great but still getting some pretty annoying headaches. Oh and the nipple chaffing is those painful thing I have experienced so far. Feels like my chest is on fire after working out.
Cravings/Aversions: I have been eating a mini bagel with cream cheese every morning for the past month. Breakfast has really been my favorite meal of the day.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Just got back from my 10 day cruise which was amazing. Vacationing while pregnant is definitely a different experience lol but I am glad we were able to get something in before the LO arrives. Question: Any recommendations for nipple cream or some type of relief for that area?
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? I love all things fall! The cooler weather (whenever it arrives..it was 90 degrees yesterday), Pumpkin flavored everything, Halloween, pumpkin picking, and apple picking. Just so many fun things to do.
@jenEP Sending you good vibes for your U/S. @stassischroeder Nachos sound amazing. @emilyace Yes, to all the horror movies!! @mrsvp614 Sorry, about your back. Banana bread is so good. Hope you enjoyed it. @Malidocious I have always loved grilled cheese sandwiches. Aside from bagels grilled cheese is my go to.
@varimama I too am on the constipation train! I was going to suggest things... but you're already doing them all. bummer. @mauvelousone I'm having weird sleep stuff too! I *never* have been a stomach sleeper and keep waking up that way. The one time I am not supposed to sleep that way and I keep doing it... geesh! @stassischroeder now I want nachos. Hmm...
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out maybe? Not sure yet. We'll decide before the anatomy scan on 11/1.
Baby is the size of a(n): Box of crayons.
Upcoming appts: Nothing until 10/13
How are you feeling?: So much better in general. I did have a gagging moment this morning, but it was because of the garbage smelling I think.
Cravings/Aversions: All I ever want is fresh fruit and french fries. All. The. Time.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Hm... Not much new to report right now. Just plugging along. OH! I did feel baby move a couple of days ago though. That was the best.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Apple picking, Halloween, leaf jumping
Update: We had our 16 week U/S today, and it went perfectly.
All measurements were on track and they were able to get great shots of all the
major anatomy. Confirmed he is in fact a boy. Overall, he’s measuring at 16w4d, so a few days ahead.
The high risk doctor said he looked like a perfectly healthy baby. No
additional testing needed other than the echo at 20 weeks just to be cautious
and ensure the heart continues to look good.
@jenEP hope your U/s goes or went well! I’m so sorry about your friend’s baby’s diagnosis. That must be very hard!
@stassischroeder peeing all the time here too! Hope you keep feeling better though! I had to double check my bottle but it says 50mg of magnesium (11% dv) and it’s magnesium oxide. Maybe I need more and should add actual magnesium supplements.
@keeksie84 I have some Miralax I’ll talk to my dr Thursday and see. I’m just not sure how I go about switching too. Like if I need to add miralax to everything else or do I stop the softeners and prunes. I’d love to to just be normal again
@emilyace I hate that I don’t feel like eating yummy foods I know I love. DH talked me into trying some donuts even though they are ugh to me and it was awful. I got so sick. So listen to what your body needs but it does stink.
@miss.sally I’m jealous of the movement! I don’t think I’ve felt any yet, hopefully soon! I’ll definitely ask my OB maybe he has a better one than just regular Colace.
@treetop19 I’m sorry your DD is struggling with forgetting things. I hope you figure it out!
@Malidocious I’m so sorry you’re having those thoughts. You aren’t alone in feeling like that, it’s a hard thing! Pregnancy is scary and having a baby is scary and while I don’t have this experience yet I’m sure having a teenager or older who starts doing more stuff on their own is scary. Good luck at your U/S tomorrow! I found it a lot more fun that the medical U/S’s I’ve had. I mean while she took some measurements it was mostly relaxing and watching baby kick and wiggle. I’ll have to try that cereal but right now dairy is an aversion for me so I’ve been avoiding cereal.
@mauvelousone I hope your family doesn’t put pressure on you to try diets while pregnant. Pregnant and nursing moms need more of some nutrients than the avg person so some fad diets are not safe. Honestly I wouldn’t worry too much about weight gain either, I accidentally gained 50lb with my first but I lost it all plus another 20 in like 9ish months after birth without trying too hard due to breastfeeding. Not that it happens for everyone but breastfeeding does usually help with weight.
@mrsvp614 man I hope your ILs actually leave today! I have no advice for potty training DS is 2.5 and has no desire to use the potty, he’s never successfully used it and refuses to sit on it most times.
@stacey6689 I’m dealing with bad nipple pain too! Made worse by nursing 😬. For newborn days I used Lanolin and Coconut Oil. I haven’t brought that back out yet bc idk if it’ll help with this issue but I’m considering trying it bc ouch.
@WorkingOnMyNightCheese sorry you’re dealing with constipation too, it’s no fun! Yay for baby movements!
Me: 33 | DH: 34 Married: October, 19, 2015 EDD 2/22/17 DS1 born on 3/2/17 EDD 3/8/20 DS2 born on 3/10/20 EDD 11/24/23 (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
How are you feeling?: emotional and possibly hormonal. Get upset with my husband daily and I feel bad about it. But it could also be that he’s insensitive!! Tonight I just wanted to drive to a hotel.
Cravings/Aversions: craving a strawberry margarita 🤔yes, rough day!
Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant: it’s hard being a working mom AND preggo. I feel like I’m beat down by the end of the day. Rave:
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Halloween anything!
@varimama I feel you on the constipation girl!! This is my third pregnancy and I’ve had it ROUGH in the past, like almost went to the ER bad. Vomiting I was so sick. it was seriously the worst part of my pregnancies, so bad I swore I’d never do this again. But, ahem... here I am. Ive been successful using this Triple combo: 1. MiraLax, if I notice I haven’t gone in a while, I start supplementing it in some Gatorade nightly. Shouldn’t take more than 3-4 nights 2. CALM it’s a magnesium supplement and I cleared it with my Dr. you can ask too. I take it every night and it helps me so much. I have to take it even when I’m not preggo sometimes! 3. Prune Juice, if the MiraLax isn’t doing it, I will drink a large glass and it usually does the trick. Actual prunes seem to do zero! I ate an entire bag once and nothing! The juice is so gross so I mix it with cranberry juice.
Hope you have success and sorry for the info overload!
Update! My ILs are now at their own home! Woo! We got Olive Garden last night to celebrate (LOL) and it was so good! I also didn't want to cook/do dishes. My back is still killing me! My doc says I can use Biofreeze, heating pad, and Thermocare patches, so that's help give me some relief, but not really improving the situation. I may try one of those cheap chair massages at the mall today to see if that helps, since I won't be able to get into a spa for a prenatal massage ASAP.
@mrsvp614 yassssssssss! Congratulations on having your house to yourselves again!!! Woo! Olive Garden sounds like an excellent celebratory dinner! I could totally go for some breadsticks right now. Yum.
@varimama yup, I'd add more magnesium. FWIW, my prenatal has 450mg of magnesium animo acid chelate, oxide, and citrate and I haven't had any constipation issues with either of my pregnancies.
@mrsvp614 YAY for ILs being gone! Haha, nothing like celebrating at the OG lol.
@jenEP YAY! So glad the u/s went well! Sounds like you have a health baby in there
@Cristin343 hormonal over here too! DH has been nothing but pleasant and helpful for the last couple days, but I was pretty sure I was going to kill him for chewing too loudly last night.
@stacey6689 I don't use an actual nipple cream, but I have found that coconut oil really helped me with the itchiness I was dealing with a few weeks ago.
EDD/W+D: 03/11/20 - 16w 0d
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: BLUE
Baby is the size of a(n): Avocado / Dill Pickle
Upcoming appts: Regular Check-up Oct 1st; Anatomy Scan Oct 24th
How are you feeling?: I have good days and bad days. Today I'm battling an annoying headache that started last night. I took Tylenol but that did nothing ugh. I drink tons of water everyday so I'm not sure what else to do about this headache. Other than that, I've been feeling pretty okay. Some days I have sooo much energy, and then other days I'm struggling to make it through the day without falling asleep at my desk at work.
Cravings/Aversions: Hm, this is hard because I really don't crave just 1 thing all the time. But I have been eating a lot of bagels with cream cheese and a LOT of popcorn. Those seem to be the 2 most consistent things that I've eaten for the last 2 mths.
Rants: My only rant is that I'm noticing more and more how unbalanced my emotions are and how easy things make me snap. I get mad at my husband over the smallest things but we end up laughing at the end because we know that it's the pregnancy. He also likes to joke with me about food, like telling me he's gonna finish food that he knows I planned on eating. That really triggers me haha food is just a very sensitive thing for me at the moment and I don't want anyone messing with it. Raves: I'm alllmost sure I felt the baby move the last 2 days. It's a VERY subtle and faint feeling but it felt like bubbles popping in my belly and usually happened during or after a meal (specifically lunch and dinner). The first time I felt it, I stopped what I was doing so that I could make sure I wasn't crazy. I shook my belly and felt it again! I can't wait until the movement gets stronger.
Questions: I guess my only question this week is for those suffering from headaches, what is a remedy that's worked for you?
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? I LOVE FALL! It's my favorite season because of the beautiful weather (I live in New Jersey), and because of the fashion. I'm excited that most of my pregnancy will be in the fall/winter because I'll be able to wear the most comfy sweaters and coats. My favorite activity in the fall is just being outdoors, whether that's taking walks or sitting on my front porch. I also enjoy seeing the trees change.
@lizp1229 yay for feeling baby movement! I also get really bad headaches and I just take a Tylenol. It doesn’t always make it go away comp but it at least makes it manageable. Hope you can find something that works for you!
@lizp1229 - I’m so glad to read that others are feeling so emotional. I’m seriously pretty level headed most of the time but the last few days I’ve just been a big ole mess! Last night I got so mad at my husband for not making dinner by 5:30 that I flipped out on him and slept in the spare bedroom. #foodtriggers 🤷🏼♀️
headaches: my only suggestions are Tylenol, as much water as you can drink and if you’re lucky enough to sneak them: naps!
@varimama My Ovia app JUST told me that at 16 weeks
constipation is a major symptom. Boo. Also I am still randomly puking quite a
bit. Boo! And, like you, I normally love sweets but can’t handle them at all so
far this pregnancy. It is SO unlike me, I’m struggling.
@jenEP yay for Palm Springs. And that is so sad re: your
friend… at 37 weeks? I hope it is not something life threatening. And yay for
the update and the positive US!
@stassischroeder I hear you on the peeing. This (2nd
tri) is our one chance at a break… and it isn’t happening, so… buckle up, I
guess? Lol.
@keeksie84 You can always complain… ANY nausea blows!
@miss.sally YES on wanting to feel movement ALL the time…
that’s by far the best thing about pregnancy, and I’m ready. I mean I LOOK 27
weeks, so why doesn’t the baby move and kick like it’s that big lol?
@treetop19 I think it is totally normal to not feel movement
yet no matter which pregnancy, especially depending on the location of the
placenta etc.
@mauvelousone Ugh I don’t know if I could handle being
surrounded by people fixated on losing weight. You won’t starve the baby
though. Seriously. That little one will take what it needs!
@MrsVP614 Oh no to your back! I hope today it is better! But
YAY FOR the in laws being gone!
Baby is the size of a(n): Pickle or a Philippine Tarsier (huh?)
Upcoming appts: Elective US Saturday, booked on a whim! Anatomy
Scan 10/10!
How are you feeling?: So tired 24/7. I get up at 5 AM to run and
walk the dog, play with my son 6-7. Drive to work 7-8. Work 8-5. Drive home
5-6. Dinner 6-7. Play and baths 7-8. Bedtime 8-9. And then I’m literally too
tired to watch tv hahahaha!
Cravings/Aversions: Aversions to almost all sweets, which is
disappointing.
Rants/Raves/Questions: RANT: How is it going to be in the 90s in October?
Allegedly, after a week from today we get “normal” fall weather, but for the
next week, the highs are legit in the 90s.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn
activity? Like many of you, I love them ALL. I
guess pumpkin patch is my favorite… football… the weather… hiking, Halloween,
etc. Heck, I even love Thanksgiving.
Update — We had our elective U/S yesterday and surprise, surprise! Baby did NOT cooperate at the ultrasound, yet again! What a little stinker! My partner and I had an elective ultrasound for gender determination yesterday but the baby went out of its way to not show us anything. Lol! It had its legs stretched out with ankles crossed and had one hand resting on its lap, so we couldn't see! At one point, it was sucking its thumb but had its legs tucked up, covering everything. The good news is that the baby looks healthy and has all of its limbs and was super active in there with a strong heartbeat, so I'm very happy. We are going back today at 5:45ish to try again, lol. The tech said she wanted to say its a girl based on what she did get to see (we were there for awhile, haha) but she was hesitant to commit to that answer because we did the Sneak Peek blood test which determined boy. I'm more inclined to believe the technician because she's been doing this for a long time and has a 100% success rate thus far when it comes to determining the gender, but hopefully we can get a definitive answer this evening. FX!!
@Malidocious oh man! You have one mischievous, stubborn little one in there! Or maybe s/he just doesn't like ultrasounds LOL. Glad you had fun anyway, and hopefully you get a better result tonight!
@EmilyLove25 GEEZ. You're daily schedule makes me tired just looking at it! And yeah... I never got a break from the peeing last time, so I'm prepared to deal with it for the long haul lol. I remember it was so nice to have a foley cath during my first labor
@stassischroeder LOL Man, I know! This baby hates having its privacy invaded, I've decided, which is relatable! FX we can find out today!
@mauvelousone Your cravings are basically a list of my favorite foods! Lol! I've been insanely craving grilled cheese sandwiches and find myself ordering them off of the kid's menu at restaurants lately! No shame! I'm sorry that your family is so focused on your weight. As long as you're being healthy, your weight shouldn't be their concern at all right now.
@jenEP I am so glad that your scan went so well and baby is looking healthy! I'll admit, I am jealous that your baby cooperated and let you check out the anatomy, lol! My gender determination U/S was yesterday and my LO went out of its way to keep things hidden. Oh and I completely understand not wanting to get into the specifics of your friend's baby; I forget this place is a public forum sometimes. I hope all goes well with your friend. Sending hugs! And it's definitely easier to dwell on the negative pregnancy experiences versus the multitude of healthy ones, which sucks, but I'm trying so hard not to...
@aerie_star Thanks for the kind words. I'm so happy for my sister but it's just so disheartening that my brain wants to solely focus on something so negative. I'm trying to be positive and excited that we will be having LOs so close together. Should be a fun thing, not a scary or jealous thing. I don't really know anyone IRL that has experienced a loss before, so it's hard to find others who can understand my negative thought process.
@mrsvp614 Mmm banana bread has been one of my cravings this pregnancy. I've always loved it, and love to bake it, but man I REALLY love it now! YAY FOR IN-LAWS BEING OUT OF YOUR HOUSE FINALLY, OMG! What an exciting, overdue thing!!! You handled it like a champ! Enjoy your celebratory Olive Garden feast! And I hope your back feels better soon.
@miss.sally Oh no, that all is so awful and I'm incredibly sorry you had to go through that pain. The fact that absolutely no one understands how truly devastating loss is makes it even harder, and entirely isolating. I'm so glad you were able to go on and have your son! I'd still be holding a grudge too, though. It's one thing for to them to have healthy children while you and your husband were struggling, but it's entirely different and incredibly demeaning for them to demand you celebrate this and gush about it when you're hurting on such a deep level. I'm sorry. I hope they realize the error in their ways eventually.
@treetop19 Sounds like you'll be feeling your LO kick any time now in the next few weeks. That's so exciting!
@stacey6689 Oh a cruise! Funsies! And mmm bagels with cream cheese have always been a food I love! Also cream cheese on wheat thins! I think I'm just obsessed with all things cheese now!
@varimama thank you for your kind words. I hate that I have such negative thoughts over what should be a happy thing, but I can't help it sometimes. I do my best to not dwell. I think pregnancy scariness is just the beginning for a lifetime of scaries that you can't control, even once the kiddo is a teenager and then an adult. Oh and my U/S was so fun, but frustrating because my LO did NOT cooperate! Baby didn't cooperate during the NT U/S either, but I'm eternally grateful to see it kicking around in there and being so active, looking healthy. It was a lot less anxiety-inducing than my official OB U/Ss are.
@Cristin343 I'm super hormonal, too! I'm sorry your husband is being insensitive! I'm in the same boat over here. My partner has been going around like there's a stick up his butt lately. It's making me feel crazy. A strawberry margarita sounds delicious! I'd settle for a virgin margarita right now, or a pina colada! Congrats on pooping! LOL! That's a victory in my book!
@lizp1229 I completely feel you on emotions being out of whack. I absolutely hate how easily angered or saddened I can get in any given moment. I'm not used to being so over the place. I'm glad your partner is being supportive. Mine will laugh with me about the ridiculousness of my hormones but a lot of times, he gets mad and then I get sad for being overly emotional and it's a whole stupid vicious cycle. He knows better than to touch my food now, though! Ever since he bought me a special 4 pack of these amazing popsicles and ate one before I even had a chance to have one and it literally made me cry, he knows better than to eat my food without asking first, lol! How exciting to feel the baby move! OH, and I get the headaches too. I've found that if I drink a Diet Coke (or something with caffeine), it tends to help alleviate the pain. I hope you find something that works for you!
@EmilyLove25 Thanks for the virtual hug! My dog is still not doing great. In an effort to combat his anxiety and weird behaviors, my vet put him on a high dose of Prozac but I think the dosage is way too high for his body weight because he's having a lot of adverse side effects from it, some that are skirting the edge of worrisome according to the Internet. I'm so glad he's going to the vet on Friday so he can actually physically look at him and run some tests because I'm sad for my pup and I'm hoping to get some answers. On a completely unrelated note, I am excited for your elective U/S!! So fun!!!
@Malidocious I would recommend drinking a super cold glass of orange juice about ten minutes before your ultrasound today! I had an elective ultrasound with my first and we had similar problems. There was a coffee shop next door and the tech told me to go get OJ and sure enough she started wiggling like crazy and we got a perfect shot of her junk! Lol. So now I make sure to have some with me for ultrasounds just in case. 😂
@miss.sally I actually did drink a big ole glass of OJ about 20 minutes prior to the appointment at the recommendation of my friend . Baby was wiggling around but refused to spread those legs! I'll try it again, though, and make sure it's super cold! I think mine wasn't that cold because I had just bought the OJ and it didn't have time to cool down all the way.

Baby is the size of a(n): avocado
Upcoming appts: Thursday normal 16 week OB appt

Baby is the size of a(n): Donut
Upcoming appts: U/S tomorrow. Because of our slightly high NT reading at 12 weeks, they said we could elect to do an early ultrasound to look at the heart anatomy even though there is a 99% chance everything is fine. Send all the good vibes that babe looks okay! I am getting blood work for spina bifida tomorrow as well.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! I have a cold and horrible fall allergies, but otherwise I am doing well.
Cravings/Aversions: Still having aversions to meat.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Raves – I am going to Palm Springs with 8 of my girlfriends next week. And I just booked a girls’ trip with my college friends for January. I’m having all the fun before this baby comes. Rant – **TW** one of my good friends just found out about a significant birth defect at 37 weeks, my anxiety is through the roof right now with all that can go wrong, trying to practice gratitude and staying the moment otherwise it’s just overwhelming **end TW**
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Fall hikes!
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: pink
Baby is the size of a(n): Avocado
Upcoming appts: Tomorrow for a regular checkup
How are you feeling?: Better. I feel like horsesh*t if I take my zoloft anytime but the evening, but as long as I keep that straight it's not too bad. Still having some headaches, still peeing ALL. THE. TIME., but I feel like the nausea and exhaustion has lightened up this week (so far. might change. nothing is consistent. ever.)
Cravings/Aversions: still craving nachos. I think I've eaten them 4 times in the last 3-4 days. Last night DH took a nacho off my plate and I warned him that he was on thin ice
Rants/Raves/Questions:
Rant: Poor DS is getting molars. THANK GOD it hasn't disrupted his sleep *knock on wood* but he's certainly been crankier, and we've been going through ibuprofen like water.
Rave: I think I'm starting to feel a little movement
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? just enjoying the cooler weather and changing leaves

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out!
Baby is the size of a(n): navel orange

@keeksie84 I'm having headaches too. Dislike! Mmm cheese toast sounds freaking great!
@emilyace Aw what a bummer that you made all the delicious foods but didn't have the appetite to eat them.
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out
Baby is the size of a(n): Navel orange/newborn baby bottle
Upcoming appts: 10/1 is the next visit to the OB, 10/18 is the anatomy scan, week after that we have a fetal echo.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity?
@miss.sally I also had a friend during my last pregnancy with a similar situation as your friend. It was and still is earth shattering.

Baby is the size of a(n): Avocado
Upcoming appts: Oct. 8th OB Checkup
@stassischroeder Nachos sound amazing.
@emilyace Yes, to all the horror movies!!
@mrsvp614 Sorry, about your back. Banana bread is so good. Hope you enjoyed it.
@Malidocious I have always loved grilled cheese sandwiches. Aside from bagels grilled cheese is my go to.
@mauvelousone I'm having weird sleep stuff too! I *never* have been a stomach sleeper and keep waking up that way. The one time I am not supposed to sleep that way and I keep doing it... geesh!
@stassischroeder now I want nachos. Hmm...
15+5, 3/12
Team finding out/pink/blue/green:
Finding out maybe? Not sure yet. We'll decide before the anatomy scan on 11/1.
Baby is the size of a(n):
Box of crayons.
Upcoming appts:
Nothing until 10/13
How are you feeling?:
So much better in general. I did have a gagging moment this morning, but it was because of the garbage smelling I think.
Cravings/Aversions:
All I ever want is fresh fruit and french fries. All. The. Time.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
Hm...
All measurements were on track and they were able to get great shots of all the major anatomy. Confirmed he is in fact a boy. Overall, he’s measuring at 16w4d, so a few days ahead. The high risk doctor said he looked like a perfectly healthy baby. No additional testing needed other than the echo at 20 weeks just to be cautious and ensure the heart continues to look good.

Rants/Raves/Questions:
Rant: it’s hard being a working mom AND preggo. I feel like I’m beat down by the end of the day.
Rave:
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity?
Halloween anything!
it was seriously the worst part of my pregnancies, so bad I swore I’d never do this again. But, ahem... here I am.
Ive been successful using this Triple combo:
1. MiraLax, if I notice I haven’t gone in a while, I start supplementing it in some Gatorade nightly. Shouldn’t take more than 3-4 nights

#foodtriggers 🤷🏼♀️
headaches: my only suggestions are Tylenol, as much water as you can drink and if you’re lucky enough to sneak them: naps!

@varimama My Ovia app JUST told me that at 16 weeks constipation is a major symptom. Boo. Also I am still randomly puking quite a bit. Boo! And, like you, I normally love sweets but can’t handle them at all so far this pregnancy. It is SO unlike me, I’m struggling.
@jenEP yay for Palm Springs. And that is so sad re: your friend… at 37 weeks? I hope it is not something life threatening. And yay for the update and the positive US!
@stassischroeder I hear you on the peeing. This (2nd tri) is our one chance at a break… and it isn’t happening, so… buckle up, I guess? Lol.
@keeksie84 You can always complain… ANY nausea blows!
@miss.sally YES on wanting to feel movement ALL the time… that’s by far the best thing about pregnancy, and I’m ready. I mean I LOOK 27 weeks, so why doesn’t the baby move and kick like it’s that big lol?
@treetop19 I think it is totally normal to not feel movement yet no matter which pregnancy, especially depending on the location of the placenta etc.
@Malidocious major hugs re: your dog.
@mauvelousone Ugh I don’t know if I could handle being surrounded by people fixated on losing weight. You won’t starve the baby though. Seriously. That little one will take what it needs!
@MrsVP614 Oh no to your back! I hope today it is better! But YAY FOR the in laws being gone!
@WorkingOnMyNightCheese I second the fresh fruit and French fries!

How are you feeling?: So tired 24/7. I get up at 5 AM to run and walk the dog, play with my son 6-7. Drive to work 7-8. Work 8-5. Drive home 5-6. Dinner 6-7. Play and baths 7-8. Bedtime 8-9. And then I’m literally too tired to watch tv hahahaha!
Cravings/Aversions: Aversions to almost all sweets, which is disappointing.
Rants/Raves/Questions: RANT: How is it going to be in the 90s in October? Allegedly, after a week from today we get “normal” fall weather, but for the next week, the highs are legit in the 90s.
GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Like many of you, I love them ALL. I guess pumpkin patch is my favorite… football… the weather… hiking, Halloween, etc. Heck, I even love Thanksgiving.

@mauvelousone Your cravings are basically a list of my favorite foods! Lol! I've been insanely craving grilled cheese sandwiches and find myself ordering them off of the kid's menu at restaurants lately! No shame!
@stacey6689 Oh a cruise! Funsies! And mmm bagels with cream cheese have always been a food I love! Also cream cheese on wheat thins! I think I'm just obsessed with all things cheese now!
@WorkingOnMyNightCheese Yay for feeling the baby move!! I can't wait for that part!!
@varimama
So fun!!!
