    Team finding out/pink/blue/green

Baby is the size of a(n): blackberry or avocado

    Upcoming appts: another week

How are you feeling?: eh. So-so. I’ve been feeling inconsistent movement and I’m ready to feel them all the time. It always helps my anxiety. I’m still nauseous. I didn’t take my meds again and while I didn’t throw up, I was very yucky feeling all day. So I’m back on them.

Cravings/Aversions: eh. Pretty much aversions to everything. All I crave is salad and sometimes Italian bread. Oh and Klondike bars.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I’m SO tired of the heat. I want fall weather here. Mostly so I can wear leggings and boots and sweaters.

GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? we love taking the kids to the pumpkin patch. How basic of us. Lol. But really there’s a super cool one about 40 mins away that is basically a giant festival with food and activities. We spend the whole day and it’s tons of fun.
  • @varimama I was given a stool softener in my last pregnancy and it was a game changer. Maybe ask your OB for options!

@jenEP I’m so sorry for your friend. Those late term diagnoses are awful. I have a friend who actually lost her baby at 39 weeks. Two days before her scheduled c-section. It was/is terrible.

@stassischroeder ohmygoodness now all I can think about is nachos. I want those STAT. With jalapeños. Yum.

@emilyace I’m sorry you’re throwing up so much!! It’s such a horrible thing.
  • Malidocious Thanks for the love about my friend's baby. Thankfully, it sounds like the baby will likely be healthy and have good quality of life, but with physical differences. I feel weird stating the actual diagnosis over the internet since this isn't a closed group. I always remind myself that I know dramatically more people who've had healthy pregnancies than the opposite, it's just the scary scenarios that stick in our brain.

@miss.sally I also had a friend during my last pregnancy with a similar situation as your friend. It was and still is earth shattering.
  • @treetop19 I would honestly take her in to be evaluated for ADHD if you can. A lot of girls with ADHD have symptoms onset or strengthen after puberty (hormone changes can effect symptoms). I have ADHD and while I was diagnosed in early childhood, symptoms post puberty sucked so much more.

@Malidocious My sister also got pregnant with her second child shortly after I did and I definitely had the same fears (still do tbh). It's PGAL. I'm also the first person she told and she was just so excited, but all I could think was that I was going to lose this one too and she'd have a healthy child. Its lightened up a bit since things have been going so well. Talking to another friend who has experienced PGAL helped me a lot too since I couldn't really admit to my sister these types of fears.

Baby is the size of a(n): Navel orange

Upcoming appts: Oct 8th for OB and Oct 30th for anatomy scan

How are you feeling?: Just ok. Super tired of being gassy and its getting so much worse. I am burping my life away, even after cutting out suspected causes.

Cravings/Aversions: Random and sudden. Yesterday it was bacon.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I've been suspecting I've been feeling movement for a couple of weeks on and off, but I'm still not certain. I'm so confused by it because with my daughter  I didn't feel any movement until 20 weeks and at that point I could feel her on the outside too(anterior placenta). This time the placenta is posterior, so who knows. My OB said probably around 16 weeks I'd feel movement.

GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? Pumpkin picking! We'll probably go twice.

@jenEP I'm jealous of your trip! Sorry about your friend! That and @miss.sally 's stories are so worrisome!

    Upcoming appts: Oct 8.

How are you feeling?: I pulled my back last night, and I'm feeling ROUGH today at work sitting in this chair at my computer. I may try the heating pad when I get home, because it's pretty brutal. I'm now waddling like I'm 8 months pregnant because it hurts to walk. :(

Cravings/Aversions: I made some banana bread last night that's great, and we'll see how long it lasts! I've also wanted chocolate milk every morning, and orange soda later in the day. Weird.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant: my damn back! Rave: Today is the day my ILs are supposed to finally go back home! It's been a long 9 weeks and we're ready to get our house and our routine back. I really hope DS handles it okay.
Questions: I'll probably head over to the STM thread, but I don't even know where to start for potty training. DS peed on the potty twice last week, and pooped once at home... then peed on the potty at daycare yesterday. I'm hoping daycare can take the lead, and I know I'll need to be more consistent at home, but I'm not sure if I should go ahead and put him in undies, or what.

GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? All of the things! Cooler weather/hoodies/sweaters, and I'm so glad DS is old enough now to enjoy the awesome things to do, like the pumpkin patch, Halloween at the zoo, Jack O Lantern spectacular, trick-or-treating, etc. Plus Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!

  • @Malidocious. I’m sorry about your fears with your sister being pregnant. I had that happen with my first pregnancy. SIL was due a week after me and I lost our baby and she went on to have a healthy pregnancy. It was horrible. And MIL and SIL would get really angry at me when I wouldn’t gush about her pregnancy. Nobody understood and it sent me into a deep depression. And then she got pregnant AGAIN while H and I were struggling with infertility and I couldn’t even talk to her. We ended up getting KU and having DS about three months after theirs. But it was horrible basically my entire pregnancy worrying about the same thing happening. I still hold a grudge and it’s been 4 years. Which is ridiculous. But you feel what you feel.
  • @miss.sally, that sounds awful that they weren't understanding of your loss.  It seems like people who haven't had a loss just don't 'get it' sometimes.

@malidocious, to answer your movement question, as a FTM I didn't feel movement until 20 plus weeks, and then not very often afterwards.  DD wasn't a super active baby, and when she was active, I couldn't feel her much due to placenta placement.  to ease my worries that she was still ok, I'd have to drink a sugary beverage and lie still and really pay attention to feel any kicks.  with DS as a STM, I started feeling flutters around 18 weeks, and he was a mover and shaker the entire time.  later on, he kicked hard and often.   this time around I'm 15 weeks, still haven't felt anything yet.

@aerie_star, I think you're right about taking her in for a screening.  I had no idea symptoms got worse around puberty, but that makes a lot of sense with what we're dealing with now.

@mrsvp614, my DS regularly poops in the potty but pees in it only sporadically, so I keep him in pull-ups.  I tried putting him in underwear one day and we had a ridiculous amount of accidents, so I'm just taking that as a sign that he's not ready yet. he still doesn't seem to understand that there is a way to keep his underwear dry - right after he wet himself I'd explain, that's why you go pee in the potty.  and then he'd wet himself again.  lol.  a good trick for potty-training boys I've heard from DH's grandma - to get them to pee standing up, get an old coffee can and put a sticker in the bottom, and tell them to pee on the sticker (helps them practice with aim, and they get excited about the sticker if you let them pick one out.)

    EDD/W+D: March 10th 16 weeks today! <3

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): Avocado

Upcoming appts: Oct. 8th OB Checkup

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. No more nausea so that's great but still getting some pretty annoying headaches. Oh and the nipple chaffing is those painful thing I have experienced so far. Feels like my chest is on fire after working out.

Cravings/Aversions: I have been eating a mini bagel with cream cheese every morning for the past month. Breakfast has really been my favorite meal of the day.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Just got back from my 10 day cruise which was amazing. Vacationing while pregnant is definitely a different experience lol but I am glad we were able to get something in before the LO arrives.
Question: Any recommendations for nipple cream or some type of relief for that area?

GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? I love all things fall! The cooler weather (whenever it arrives..it was 90 degrees yesterday), Pumpkin flavored everything, Halloween, pumpkin picking, and apple picking. Just so many fun things to do.

@jenEP Sending you good vibes for your U/S.
    @stassischroeder Nachos sound amazing.
@emilyace Yes, to all the horror movies!!
@mrsvp614 Sorry, about your back. Banana bread is so good. Hope you enjoyed it.
@Malidocious I have always loved grilled cheese sandwiches. Aside from bagels grilled cheese is my go to.
  • @varimama I too am on the constipation train! I was going to suggest things... but you're already doing them all. bummer.
@mauvelousone I'm having weird sleep stuff too! I *never* have been a stomach sleeper and keep waking up that way. The one time I am not supposed to sleep that way and I keep doing it... geesh!
@stassischroeder now I want nachos. Hmm...

Finding out maybe? Not sure yet. We'll decide before the anatomy scan on 11/1.

Baby is the size of a(n)
    Box of crayons.

    Upcoming appts
    Nothing until 10/13

    How are you feeling?:
So much better in general. I did have a gagging moment this morning, but it was because of the garbage smelling I think.

    Cravings/Aversions:
All I ever want is fresh fruit and french fries. All. The. Time.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Hm... Not much new to report right now. Just plugging along.
OH! I did feel baby move a couple of days ago though. That was the best.

GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity?
    Apple picking, Halloween, leaf jumping
  • @varimama I feel you on the constipation girl!! This is my third pregnancy and I’ve had it ROUGH in the past, like almost went to the ER bad. Vomiting I was so sick.
it was seriously the worst part of my pregnancies, so bad I swore I’d never do this again. But, ahem... here I am.
Ive been successful using this Triple combo:
    1. MiraLax, if I notice I haven’t gone in a while, I start supplementing it in some Gatorade nightly. Shouldn’t take more than 3-4 nights
    2. CALM it’s a magnesium supplement and I cleared it with my Dr. you can ask too. I take it every night and it helps me so much. I have to take it even when I’m not preggo sometimes!
    3. Prune Juice, if the MiraLax isn’t doing it, I will drink a large glass and it usually does the trick. Actual prunes seem to do zero! I ate an entire bag once and nothing! The juice is so gross so I mix it with cranberry juice.

Hope you have success and sorry for the info overload!

  • @mrsvp614 yassssssssss! Congratulations on having your house to yourselves again!!! Woo! Olive Garden sounds like an excellent celebratory dinner! I could totally go for some breadsticks right now. Yum.
  • edited September 2019
@varimama yup, I'd add more magnesium. FWIW, my prenatal has 450mg of magnesium animo acid chelate, oxide, and citrate and I haven't had any constipation issues with either of my pregnancies.

@mrsvp614 YAY for ILs being gone!  Haha, nothing like celebrating at the OG lol.

@jenEP YAY! So glad the u/s went well! Sounds like you have a health baby in there  :)

@Cristin343 hormonal over here too! DH has been nothing but pleasant and helpful for the last couple days, but I was pretty sure I was going to kill him for chewing too loudly last night.

Baby is the size of a(n): Avocado / Dill Pickle

Upcoming appts: Regular Check-up Oct 1st; Anatomy Scan Oct 24th

How are you feeling?: I have good days and bad days. Today I'm battling an annoying headache that started last night. I took Tylenol but that did nothing ugh. I drink tons of water everyday so I'm not sure what else to do about this headache. Other than that, I've been feeling pretty okay. Some days I have sooo much energy, and then other days I'm struggling to make it through the day without falling asleep at my desk at work.

Cravings/Aversions: Hm, this is hard because I really don't crave just 1 thing all the time. But I have been eating a lot of bagels with cream cheese and a LOT of popcorn. Those seem to be the 2 most consistent things that I've eaten for the last 2 mths.

Rants: My only rant is that I'm noticing more and more how unbalanced my emotions are and how easy things make me snap. I get mad at my husband over the smallest things but we end up laughing at the end because we know that it's the pregnancy. He also likes to joke with me about food, like telling me he's gonna finish food that he knows I planned on eating. That really triggers me haha food is just a very sensitive thing for me at the moment and I don't want anyone messing with it.

Raves: I'm alllmost sure I felt the baby move the last 2 days. It's a VERY subtle and faint feeling but it felt like bubbles popping in my belly and usually happened during or after a meal (specifically lunch and dinner). The first time I felt it, I stopped what I was doing so that I could make sure I wasn't crazy. I shook my belly and felt it again! I can't wait until the movement gets stronger.

    Questions:
I guess my only question this week is for those suffering from headaches, what is a remedy that's worked for you?

GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity? I LOVE FALL! It's my favorite season because of the beautiful weather (I live in New Jersey), and because of the fashion. I'm excited that most of my pregnancy will be in the fall/winter because I'll be able to wear the most comfy sweaters and coats. My favorite activity in the fall is just being outdoors, whether that's taking walks or sitting on my front porch. I also enjoy seeing the trees change.
  • @lizp1229 yay for feeling baby movement! I also get really bad headaches and I just take a Tylenol. It doesn’t always make it go away comp  but it at least makes it manageable. Hope you can find something that works for you!
  • @varimama @Malidocious the food thing was a bummer, but hey- only 24 weeks until I get my appetite back 😂
  • @lizp1229 - I’m so glad to read that others are feeling so emotional. I’m seriously pretty level headed most of the time but the last few days I’ve just been a big ole mess! Last night I got so mad at my husband for not making dinner by 5:30 that I flipped out on him and slept in the spare bedroom.
    #foodtriggers 🤷🏼‍♀️

headaches: my only suggestions are Tylenol, as much water as you can drink and if you’re lucky enough to sneak them: naps!
  • @lizp1229 The Tylenol/caffeine combo usually works for me. Even just a soda or small cup of coffee helps take the edge off.

Baby is the size of a(n): Pickle or a Philippine Tarsier (huh?)

Upcoming appts: Elective US Saturday, booked on a whim! Anatomy Scan 10/10!

How are you feeling?: So tired 24/7. I get up at 5 AM to run and walk the dog, play with my son 6-7. Drive to work 7-8. Work 8-5. Drive home 5-6. Dinner 6-7. Play and baths 7-8. Bedtime 8-9. And then I’m literally too tired to watch tv hahahaha!

Cravings/Aversions: Aversions to almost all sweets, which is disappointing.

Rants/Raves/Questions: RANT: How is it going to be in the 90s in October? Allegedly, after a week from today we get “normal” fall weather, but for the next week, the highs are legit in the 90s.

GTKY: Happy Fall! What's your favorite autumn activity?
Like many of you, I love them ALL. I guess pumpkin patch is my favorite… football… the weather… hiking, Halloween, etc. Heck, I even love Thanksgiving.

  • Update — We had our elective U/S yesterday and surprise, surprise!  Baby did NOT cooperate at the ultrasound, yet again!  What a little stinker!  My partner and I had an elective ultrasound for gender determination yesterday but the baby went out of its way to not show us anything.  Lol!  It had its legs stretched out with ankles crossed and had one hand resting on its lap, so we couldn't see!  At one point, it was sucking its thumb but had its legs tucked up, covering everything.  The good news is that the baby looks healthy and has all of its limbs and was super active in there with a strong heartbeat, so I'm very happy.  :)  We are going back today at 5:45ish to try again, lol.  The tech said she wanted to say its a girl based on what she did get to see (we were there for awhile, haha) but she was hesitant to commit to that answer because we did the Sneak Peek blood test which determined boy.  I'm more inclined to believe the technician because she's been doing this for a long time and has a 100% success rate thus far when it comes to determining the gender, but hopefully we can get a definitive answer this evening.  FX!!
  • @Malidocious oh man! You have one mischievous, stubborn little one in there! Or maybe s/he just doesn't like ultrasounds LOL. Glad you had fun anyway, and hopefully you get a better result tonight!

@EmilyLove25 GEEZ. You're daily schedule makes me tired just looking at it! And yeah... I never got a break from the peeing last time, so I'm prepared to deal with it for the long haul lol. I remember it was so nice to have a foley cath during my first labor  :D

  • @stassischroeder LOL Man, I know!  This baby hates having its privacy invaded, I've decided, which is relatable!  :D FX we can find out today!

@mauvelousone Your cravings are basically a list of my favorite foods!  Lol!  I've been insanely craving grilled cheese sandwiches and find myself ordering them off of the kid's menu at restaurants lately!  No shame!  :D  I'm sorry that your family is so focused on your weight.  As long as you're being healthy, your weight shouldn't be their concern at all right now.

@jenEP I am so glad that your scan went so well and baby is looking healthy!  I'll admit, I am jealous that your baby cooperated and let you check out the anatomy, lol!  My gender determination U/S was yesterday and my LO went out of its way to keep things hidden.  Oh and I completely understand not wanting to get into the specifics of your friend's baby; I forget this place is a public forum sometimes.  I hope all goes well with your friend. <3 Sending hugs!  And it's definitely easier to dwell on the negative pregnancy experiences versus the multitude of healthy ones, which sucks, but I'm trying so hard not to...

@aerie_star Thanks for the kind words.  I'm so happy for my sister but it's just so disheartening that my brain wants to solely focus on something so negative.  I'm trying to be positive and excited that we will be having LOs so close together.  Should be a fun thing, not a scary or jealous thing.  I don't really know anyone IRL that has experienced a loss before, so it's hard to find others who can understand my negative thought process.

@mrsvp614 Mmm banana bread has been one of my cravings this pregnancy. I've always loved it, and love to bake it, but man I REALLY love it now!  :D  YAY FOR IN-LAWS BEING OUT OF YOUR HOUSE FINALLY, OMG!  What an exciting, overdue thing!!!  You handled it like a champ!  Enjoy your celebratory Olive Garden feast!  And I hope your back feels better soon.

@miss.sally Oh no, that all is so awful and I'm incredibly sorry you had to go through that pain.  The fact that absolutely no one understands how truly devastating loss is makes it even harder, and entirely isolating.  I'm so glad you were able to go on and have your son!  I'd still be holding a grudge too, though.  It's one thing for to them to have healthy children while you and your husband were struggling, but it's entirely different and incredibly demeaning for them to demand you celebrate this and gush about it when you're hurting on such a deep level.  I'm sorry.  I hope they realize the error in their ways eventually.

@treetop19 Sounds like you'll be feeling your LO kick any time now in the next few weeks. :)  That's so exciting!

@stacey6689 Oh a cruise!  Funsies!  And mmm bagels with cream cheese have always been a food I love!  Also cream cheese on wheat thins!  I think I'm just obsessed with all things cheese now!

@WorkingOnMyNightCheese Yay for feeling the baby move!!  I can't wait for that part!!

@varimama <3 thank you for your kind words.  I hate that I have such negative thoughts over what should be a happy thing, but I can't help it sometimes. I do my best to not dwell.  I think pregnancy scariness is just the beginning for a lifetime of scaries that you can't control, even once the kiddo is a teenager and then an adult.  Oh and my U/S was so fun, but frustrating because my LO did NOT cooperate!  Baby didn't cooperate during the NT U/S either, but I'm eternally grateful to see it kicking around in there and being so active, looking healthy. :)  It was a lot less anxiety-inducing than my official OB U/Ss are.

@Cristin343 I'm super hormonal, too!  I'm sorry your husband is being insensitive!  I'm in the same boat over here.  My partner has been going around like there's a stick up his butt lately.  It's making me feel crazy.  A strawberry margarita sounds delicious!  I'd settle for a virgin margarita right now, or a pina colada!  Congrats on pooping!  LOL!  That's a victory in my book!

@lizp1229 I completely feel you on emotions being out of whack.  I absolutely hate how easily angered or saddened I can get in any given moment.  I'm not used to being so over the place.  I'm glad your partner is being supportive.  Mine will laugh with me about the ridiculousness of my hormones but a lot of times, he gets mad and then I get sad for being overly emotional and it's a whole stupid vicious cycle.  He knows better than to touch my food now, though!  Ever since he bought me a special 4 pack of these amazing popsicles and ate one before I even had a chance to have one and it literally made me cry, he knows better than to eat my food without asking first, lol!  How exciting to feel the baby move!  :)  OH, and I get the headaches too.  I've found that if I drink a Diet Coke (or something with caffeine), it tends to help alleviate the pain.  I hope you find something that works for you!

@EmilyLove25 Thanks for the virtual hug!  My dog is still not doing great.  In an effort to combat his anxiety and weird behaviors, my vet put him on a high dose of Prozac but I think the dosage is way too high for his body weight because he's having a lot of adverse side effects from it, some that are skirting the edge of worrisome according to the Internet.  I'm so glad he's going to the vet on Friday so he can actually physically look at him and run some tests because I'm sad for my pup and I'm hoping to get some answers.  On a completely unrelated note, I am excited for your elective U/S!!  So fun!!!
  • @Malidocious I would recommend drinking a super cold glass of orange juice about ten minutes before your ultrasound today! I had an elective ultrasound with my first and we had similar problems. There was a coffee shop next door and the tech told me to go get OJ and sure enough she started wiggling like crazy and we got a perfect shot of her junk! Lol. So now I make sure to have some with me for ultrasounds just in case. 😂

@miss.sally I actually did drink a big ole glass of OJ about 20 minutes prior to the appointment at the recommendation of my friend :D .  Baby was wiggling around but refused to spread those legs!  I'll try it again, though, and make sure it's super cold!  I think mine wasn't that cold because I had just bought the OJ and it didn't have time to cool down all the way.
