@manders9479 our hospital has notices up everywhere to say that children arent allowed at the anomaly scan. Much as it would have been nice to have dd see it, there is a lot for the tech to look at and see and we were there for over an hour and thats a long time to expect a child to sit in a dark room and behave & not disturb the tech.
@manders9479 we did and it was good! What they do is the ultrasound first to get all the pics they need, then they invite family in afterwards to have a look so it’s not disturbing
@stashattack - Scan went great! 3 vessel cord, 4 chambered heart, no cleft lip, all the right fingers and toes, and she's measuring exactly on track. Yep, it's a girl!!!! Heartrate was 141, and they approximated her weight at 12 oz.
My anatomy scan was also great. Everything where it should be and nothing that shouldn't be there. She's about 13oz (yes she's a she haha! we got picture proof now) and heartrate 143. Though she was a sassy little thing. Did not wanna cooperate or show her face at all. It took the tech pushing on my stomach with the transvag ulstrasound wand in to get her to flip to show her cute lil face! LOL.
The amnio saga part 58275 🙄. I think we decided it’s just not happening. We aren’t doing any testing for the time being. There’s no good way to go in. With how the membrane is sitting and with the only available pocket where it is, they’d have to go at a weird angle that just won’t work. They gave us the option to do CVS but I’m not sure I want to go that route anymore.
We got some good news today. Baby boy measured spot on at 20 weeks and about 12 ounces. Baby girl measured 18w2d and 8 ounces. The last scan had the growth discordance at 41% and this week it improved to 31% so that means baby girl is catching up a little. Her Doppler’s weren’t good again this week but we will check them again at the anatomy scan on the 13th. Again, there were no anomalies seen on either baby so that is reassuring as well. Because of this, dh is leaning towards not doing any testing. We’ve had two healthy babies all along and at this point I almost feel like maybe this is a sign to just wait. Obviously I’d love some answers but everything seems to be working against us for some reason.
@kbrown2385 sorry you couldn't get the testing done, but maybe it IS a sign to just wait. That is GREAT news that baby girl is catching up! So excited for your anatomy scan! Maybe by then she'll have caught up some more! ❤
Had my follow up today and my blood pressure is still 140/80. 😕 the good news is my labs came back normal, everything the same as the last time I did labs. So, OB is thinking I've just got pregnancy induced high blood pressure, but not high enough to be on any medication other than continuing baby aspirin and we'll just keep an eye on my blood pressure. So, not quite the news I was hoping for, but not necessarily bad news either. Now just to anxiously wait for my Sept. 17 anatomy scan! 😁
@peppyj9, they didn't talk to you about Labetalol? Mine was right where yours is, and they put me on it as a precaution. Like the baby aspirin, it's best when started early. After 4 weeks of being on it, my last OB I was down to 130/65.
@FyreFlyeRush no, she said because my proteins were normal they wouldn't put me on medication unless it got higher, like 160/100. Sheer said they didn't want to prescribe medication unless necessary because it could interrupt blood flow to the baby. I'll have to call and ask about Labetalol.
@FyreFlyeRush not much older! 😜 I am 36, afterall. But maybe in pregnancy just a few years makes that much of a difference 🤷♀️ I'll ask her about it anyway just to make sure all options were explored.
I had my anatomy scan yesterday. The tech was great about explaining everything as we went, and said that everything looked good to her so I didn't need to see a doc before leaving, but they will of course look it over and call if they need any more pictures or measurements or see anything she didn't. She had me look away anytime she was near the sex, because H couldn't come so we decided to have her put it in an envelope and then open it at home together.
We opened it right away, and were completely floored. It's a boy! After 3 girls and with H's family the men all having girls, we weren't sure we could have a boy. We were just waiting on final confirmation of our girl. We are still shocked today. It's funny how surprised we are. My poor oldest (who had named her new baby sister Mira) cried. But today she is feeling more okay with a brother. Back to the drawing board for names...
I just came back from my anatomy scan this morning. All is normal Both babies by the magic of making my life a little easier cooperated and they got all of the measurements they needed. So relieved! Baby B is measuring about 10% bigger than Baby A, but both are about 10-11 days ahead of their gestational age, and already about 1lb each. Which is insane to me!! I'm happy they are growing (ahead) of schedule and seem to be moving around and healthy. At one point Baby A had its butt right in Baby B's face which is hysterical.
The envelope with their genders is sitting on my kitchen counter and it's taking every ounce of my being not to look. I don't think i'll make it until Sept 21st!
@amb0924 thats some serious will power you have! I definitely couldnt have it just sit there and not look! Lol so glad you had a good scan! Do you feel more confident knowing which baby is moving now having seen how they are positioned?

Baby B is much higher up than I anticipated, so I guess I haven't really been paying attention above my belly button. I'm going to start trying to focus on that now to be able to decipher their movements.
We caved!! TWIN GIRLS My gut instinct was 100% right. My husband is not taking the news as well as me LOL but we're thrilled all the same! We decided to pretend to our families we have no idea and are going to be "surprised" at the reveal. At least it will be easier for me because I've been telling anyone who asks that my gut says two girls
Congrats @MollySm and @amb0924! How exciting! Everyone's sex reveal is making me wonder so much. Our tech had us turn away every time we might see something as well so we really don't know.....but I'm happy to have it be a surprise!
At my appointment today it was sort of sad since my OB is leaving. She was so happy for us and gave me a bit of a hug. Also was surprised that I had a belly and wearing maternity pants. She's like oh you do have belly there lol! Like yeah....isn't that what is supposed to happen lol!
@amb0924 congratulations! Im so excited for you!! When we found out dd was a girl, dh was a little disappointed initially & he absolutely worships her so im sure yours will be just fine too!
@amb0924 yay!!!! Twin girls!! 👭💕💕 so exciting! DH may be a little disappointed now but guarantee those little girls will have him wrapped around their fingers 😍
@biolprof aww, sad your OB is leaving. I hope you get a great replacement! Also, I don't understand how people can wait until birth to know the sex! I know there was a time when you had to, but knowing I could know, I just wouldn't have the willpower lol. But it'll be a cool surprise at birth 😊
@biolprof and @peppyj9 I waited with DD but not out of choice. However, I loved being surprised. If I could be team green again, I totally would. With my second and this pregnancy their dads wanted to know, so I caved. I'm excited just the same, but it doesn't have that "And we have a GIRL!" thrill. Especially since her father said he only made boys. (she's the only girl either of us have had, so maybe it was a fluke!)
@leprechaunlady I was obsessed with MaryKate and Ashley when I was a kid and i'm so excited to get my very own Like all you ladies have said, I'm sure my DH will come around the minute he lays eyes on those girls. It will be over for him.... Honestly, (and I was a good kid), but if these girls are anything like I was at Age 13-16..... send prayers for me LOL the attitude I had was out of control. My mom always said "be careful, you're going to get one just like you"
at my appointment on Tuesday they measured my stomach for the first time! I feel like that's a good appointment milestone and I measured 23.5 and was 23w6d at that time so I thought it was cool
It was too soon to do another growth scan so we just did a blood flow check and checked organs. Still no anomalies and blood flow for baby b hasn’t changed from last week, so no news is good news I suppose.
Anatomy scan today. So far everything looks just the way it's supposed to, so that's great news! Unfortunately he kept both his hands on his face the whole time so we weren't able to get a good profile shot. I just got a picture with arms over a face lol. But all that matters is baby looks healthy! Next up in 6 weeks is fetal echocardiogram and one for myself. Nothing looked wrong but due to my weight, OB wants to make sure I don't have heart enlargement and baby doesn't have any heart defects (not that she saw any) but it's more common in overweight moms. Just being thorough I guess, which I'm A-OK with!
