  • @varimama I'm glad your parents weren't negative, but that still seems like a BS response to their new grandchild. I hope you feel better soon!

@miss.sally Jealous that you look pregnant! I look like I'm packing on the lbs.

Baby is the size of a(n): Peach

Upcoming appts: Tomorrow. No U/S though  :/

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. It got super hot here again, so I'm not loving that.

Rants/Raves: Rant: I have to collect my urine in a HUGE orange jug over the next 24 hours for tomorrow's appointment. I'll post a pic in the spoiler. They said to keep it cold, so I'm hoping none of my co-workers mistake it for orange juice in the AM!  :D:smile:
Rave: Looks like I'm going to decline the job offer that would require us to move, but bring me a huge raise. I'm finally assured it's the right choice, and my boss has agreed to a fair raise here, and to move me to a "normal" schedule. I'm hoping it's a much better lifestyle for my family.

    Questions: Nope!

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?: This is hard. I like @varimama's answer, but if I'm being honest, I feel like being a billionaire would make life a lot easier!

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: TEAM GREEN!

Baby is the size of a(n): Clown Fish

Upcoming appts: I get blood drawn for something on the 19th… and I’m using it as a reason to take a “sick day” from work.

How are you feeling?: So, so, so much better… nausea-wise, breathing-wise (still not great but BETTER), energy-wise, AND anxiety-wise.

Rants/Raves: Rave: DH travels this week and it’s in the 90s, so I was worried I’d get zero workouts in Monday-Thursday, but I went on an “early lunch” and ran 5 miles while it was only 79. They were awesome.

Questions: Anyone have a minivan out there with any tips? I was dead set on an Odyssey but now am loving the Pacifica. I want to buy it closer to when LO arrives.

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?:
I would want to be a billionaire, no questions asked. I enjoy working out, so no worries there, aging isn’t great but ehhh, and “smartest” is so relative. If I had that much money, I could stay home with my kids no questions asked!

    _________

@varimama a Stick Shift Knob seems so big! Also I love your aunt’s reaction! Sorry for the blaze parent response.

@miss.sally I feel you… I think in tight fitting clothes especially I definitely look PREGNANT. I still haven’t busted out my maternity stuff because it seems so early! Yay for toddler sleep!

@MrsVP614 Since we live sort of near each other lol. I feel you on this second heat wave. I mean the 90s??? Why??? And yay for knowing you are making the right choice! I would do the same thing at this point in my life.

@WorkingOnMyNightCheese YES Nausea has been replaced by lots of hunger here… definitely need a (large) snack between dinner and bed… and I eat dinner relatively late..

@treetop19 Hugs for the initial gender disappointment.

@JenEP Yay for DD’s first day at preschool!

  • @EmilyLove25 I am getting a minivan. I haven't test driven any of them yet. I wish the Odyssey had AWD like the Sienna. I had a Honda in college and it was so reliable, so I am leaning towards the Odyssey because of that. I haven't looked into anything other than the Odyssey or Sienna. What makes you like the Pacifica? I want to get mine sooner than later because I currently hate the process of getting the girls in and out of my car right now. Sliding automatic doors for the win!
  • @jenEP I lived in Seattle are most of my life, and basically the ONLY reason I’m glad I don’t live there anymore is $$. It’s so sad. It’s such a beautiful place and I miss it terribly. But good lord it’s gotten insane.

@varimama Sooo exciting — finding out the sex!!  My partner and I are going to a private ultrasound clinic to find out the sex too right around then too (we go on 9/25)!  :)  I'm pumped!  I'm sorry you're still feeling so crappy though.  Dislike!  Also dislike to your parents' reactions.. what a bummer.  I can sort of relate, though.  My mom was completely negative when she first found out.  She made it all about herself and how awful this was going to be for HER life (and mine, according to her).  She has since come around completely but man, that initial reaction stung and I won't ever forget it.

@MrsVP614, just looking fat instead of pregnant!  :D  Double yay for your kiddo sleeping in!  My nephew is 3 and he's up at 5 AM most days.

@MrsVP614 Good luck at your appointment tomorrow! :)  I sure hope your coworkers don't mistake the jug for OJ either!!  :D  Also, bummer about not being able to move and take that job with the major raise, but it's got to bring some peace not being a limbo about what you should do anymore.  Not to mention, moving is such a hassle... and it'll be great to be close to your family during this time. <3  Congrats on the raise!

@WorkingOnMyNightCheese Good luck at your appointment on Friday!  I'm not really feeling connected this pregnancy, but I think it's because the first trimester was so stressful (for me).  I'm hoping once the second trimester is in swing, it'll start to feel more *real* and I'll start having conversations with the nugget and feeling more connected.

@treetop19 Good luck at your appointment tomorrow!  I feel you on having to dig out clothes... I don't have any maternity clothes, but I do have clothes from when I was heavier that I had been holding on to and would likely fit in now.  I'd love to be able to just go grab the bin that I think they're in, but that's buried underneath so much other stuff... it sounds exhausting just to get to them.  I'm with you on being ready for 2nd trimester and feeling "safe" finally.

@jenEP I'm so glad you're feeling better!  I hope the rest of this week goes by quickly so you can be reunited with your husband and he can get to helping you with the kiddos!  I can't imagine parenting two little ones while also being pregnant... sounds so exhausting!  But you can do it! :)   Oh noooo to the leak in your roof/wall.  What a freaking hassle.  I sure hope the fix isn't too costly.

@EmilyLove25 I'm sooooo glad your nausea and breathing are both better; that is great news!  I'm jealous on the energy, but I think mine is slowly coming back.  I was able to start exercising again!  RE: minivans, one of my very best friends and her fiance just got a Chrysler Pacifica last weekend and they are in love with it.  They have 4 little ones, all 5 and under.
  • @EmilyLove25 @jenEP I don’t love my Odyssey even though I really wanted to. This applies to all minivans I guess but it is really big to drive and park, I think I’d rather have a compact SUV. I also miss the flat SUV trunk for diaper changes. In particular, and maybe they’ve worked this out since 3 years ago, the automatic doors and gear shift are really sensitive, like you have to press just right to open/close and the trunk tends to get stuck. And you can’t use the middle middle seat, if you also want to use the third row, because then there’s no way in and out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just some stuff to think about. I’m sure if I get rid of it I will miss the sliding doors in tight parking lots though. And it is super easy to click the car seats in and out.

    EDD/W+D: I'm due March 13 and am 13w+4 days!

Team finding out/pink/blue/green:  Team finding out!  The Sneak Peek test said we are having a BOY, but we're going for an elective ultrasound on 9/25 to find out the sex.  I'll let you know if the Sneak Peek was right or not!

Baby is the size of a(n): A plum or a lemon...

Upcoming appts:  Elective ultrasound on 9/25 and then a regular OB check-up on 9/26.

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling depressed lately, but it's my own fault because I still haven't started the Zoloft yet.  My actual OB said she prescribes it to her patients all the time, but she understands my concerns based on the newer studies that show heart defects.  Realistically, I realize that Zoloft is the wise choice because a depressed and anxious mother cannot be good for the baby... but I'm a paranoid person who absolutely should never have googled antidepressants while pregnant, especially if my OB says its okay (or that the risk is very small).

Rants/Raves:  Rant: I have to find a new dentist office because I'm mad at mine.  I've been thinking about switching for years now, but I'm finally going to do it.  I had an appointment scheduled for earlier this year but had to reschedule because I was sick.  My rescheduled appointment was supposed to happen about a month ago, but they had to reschedule me because the dentist and the hygienist were both going to be suddenly out of the office.  My appointment was supposed to be yesterday, but when I called, they said I wasn't on there and I couldn't reschedule a new time to come in, I could only be placed on a short list of people they'd call if there was a sudden cancellation.  Wtf?!  No.

Questions:  None right now that I haven't already asked before.

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?:  Oooh, I want to be a billionaire!!  I was going to choose being fit/healthy but I do a pretty good job of that on my own (when I'm not pregnant, at least).  And I don't think I'd want to be the smartest person because I would walk around irritated with how dumb people are CONSTANTLY.   Lol!
  • EDD/W+D: March 10/14 weeks

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Blue!

Baby is the size of a(n): Tall as a credit card?🤣

Upcoming appts: Not til the end of the month.

How are you feeling?: Good. Except for strong nausea in the morning, which makes it tricky to get myself and two toddlers ready for the day. And exhaustion in the afternoons, but...toddlers so maybe that’s not entirely the baby’s fault.

Rants/Raves: Finding out its a boy has me seriously purging our girl clothes and cleaning out our basement. Early nesting?

Questions: Boy moms, what should I read to learn about the differences in caring for a boy (ie. boy parts)?

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?: I’d rather be perpetually fit AND in good health despite eating whatever. It would be nice to eat without worrying about cholesterol, etc.

@miss.sally I didn’t realize you grew up here? Where at specifically? Where do you live now? The cost of living is out of control here right now with all the tech companies moving in. I wish we could move to Idaho, but our business is here so we will likely be here for a while.

@momoftoddlers you are the first person with a minivan who doesn’t rave about it! I am a smaller person and getting car seats in and out of SUVs is very difficult for me. I want both kids to be able to crawl in on one side, and I loathe having to put one kid in, go put the other in, then going back to close the door of the first kid. Or waiting for my three year old to crawl out a sloth’s pace so I can close her door while holding my squirmy 1 year old. I didn’t really think of the diaper changing in the back, though I have probably only done that a handful of times in my current car. Things to think about!

  • @jenEP I lived in Redmond and Kirkland. I went to Redmond High School, and then Western Washington University. Whereabouts are you?
  • @MrsVP614 I had to do the 24 hr urine collection. I picked a day where I was home all day so that I wouldn't have to worry about that exact scenario. But the way my jug looked, I doubt that anyone would've mistaken it for orange juice lol The worst part was when I had to wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and then had to go all the way downstairs to transfer the urine to the jug in the fridge. I hope to never have to do it again. I hope your test results come back good!

    EDD/W+D
    : 03/11/20 - 13w6d

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: BLUE :)

Baby is the size of a(n): One app says Lime, the other says Jalepeño...that's the size for 13 wks, but I'll be 14wks tomorrow

Upcoming appts: Had an appt today to check and make sure the Labetalol meds for my blood pressure is working, and surely my blood pressure was the lowest it's been since becoming pregnant which is great news!

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling overall pretty good. Sleep is becoming less and less comfortable and I've been having more round ligament pains and just overall discomfort when sitting for too long. I do have a pregnancy pillow which has been helping a lot.

We did our pregnancy announcement on Sunday on social media and I've finally told everyone at work the news, so that's a relief because now I don't have to hide it any longer. My bump has definitely grown and I actually look pregnant now which is so exciting!

Rants/Raves: We found out the gender on Friday and I was really hoping and praying for a girl. As the days go by, I'm getting more and more used to the thought of having a boy. Everyone says boys love their mommies.

    Questions: None today

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?If I had to choose, I'd rather be a billionaire because I'd be able to afford to never look a day over 25 and I'd be able to hire the best trainers / chefs so that I can remain fit. I passed over being the smartest because just because you're smart doesn't mean you're wise or have common sense lol I know a lot of book smart people who are just that, and lack common sense.

  • @EmilyLove25 Ah, yes, second dinner! I am familiar.

I'm like a hobbit right now... Breakfast, second breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, second dinner, middle of the night snack.

@WorkingOnMyNightCheese omg hilarious!  I was just telling my boyfriend that I feel like a hobbit with my meals, too!   :D  :D  :D

@varimama I want to trust the Sneak Peek but once I got to reading about how easily they can be contaminated and skew it to a false boy result, I just can't take it as fact yet.  I did mine at my parents' house in the spare guest bedroom bathroom that NEVER gets used unless my sister is sleeping over.  My dad never even goes in there, so I'm hoping it wasn't contaminated... but we'll find out in a few weeks (if baby is cooperative, which I'm not feeling optimistic about based on its behavior during the NT scan, LOL).
  • @MrsVP614 I had to do a 24 hour urine with my last pregnancy and HATED it. My OB asked if I wanted to do it this time (because I’m a pre-E risk) and I said absolutely NOT. Lol. You have all my sorries.
  • @lizp1229 Those baby sizes confuse me so much, lol.  I feel like a lime is considerably larger than a jalapeno, but what do I know?  :-P  That's great news about your blood pressure going down!!  Yay!  :)
  • @miss.sally We're in Woodinville. My husband was born and raised in Woodinville (and went to UPS in Tacoma), but I transplanted from Idaho. I went to UW for grad school.
  • @Malidocious Haha right? The baby sizes are def confusing. They say tomorrow the baby will be the size of a peach :) And thanks! I'm so glad the BP meds are working too, one less thing to worry about.

@lemonlove86 I got the PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow with Jersey Cover, C Shaped Full Body Pillow from Amazon; it's pretty big and very comfy. My boobs aren't big at all but the pillow does provide pretty good support from top to bottom, I love it!
  • @jenEP Just to add to your food for thought, my 4 year old will often run past her car seat into the back of the van and then I have to climb in and help her out. She’s a good girl but sometimes it’s too tempting. So I still have to open the door, stand there while she climbs in, buckle her in, and then walk around and do the same for baby. I still do a considerable amount of running back and forth from side to side. But the minivan being low to the ground is definitely awesome, especially if you’re on the shorter side. So 🤷🏻‍♀️ pros and cons. I’m having my third baby so I probably will never get away from the minivan.
  • @momoftoddlers haha. when we have three, I am thinking I will put my oldest in the back. She currently buckles herself in independently; my vision is that she'll climb in the same side as my other one and get buckled herself so I won't have to go to the other side of the car (though with baby 3 I may have to no matter what). Wishful thinking, perhaps. Where do you have your oldest now? Will you move her to the back when baby 3 comes?
  • @jenEP I have the girls (2 and 4) in the two bucket seats right now. My goal is to move the 4 year old to the back and have her buckle and unbuckle independently, but I don’t know if that will happen by March. Otherwise I’ll have to put the baby in the bucket seat, slide it over, and then climb into the back to help.  How old is your oldest and how did you get her to buckle independently!?
  • jenEPjenEP member
    edited September 2019
@momoftoddlers my oldest will be 4 in December. She just started buckling herself during one of her strong "I can do it" phases a few months ago. There are plenty of things she still wants me to do for her but for some reason she loves to buckle herself. Also, we listen to audiobooks while we drive, which she loves; she's motivated to get seated quickly since I use that as a motivator (when you're buckled, I will turn on the story). She still can't unbuckle the bottom though, so I didn't really think about having to crawl back there to get her out. I do remember an instagram mom I follow post about a device that helps them do the bottom part. Let me see if I can find it!
  • @jenEP I’d be wary of anything that clips onto the car seat permanently. The fb group car seats for littles has lots of info on the harm aftermarket products can cause during a crash. Im pretty sure I saw that product mentioned specifically as dangerous. They have removable ones that would also eliminate the risk of her doing it while you’re driving. Also I’m impressed she can tighten the straps and position the chest clip herself! I find them difficult to get properly tight myself. DS is 2.5 and he likes to clip the chest clip himself but I tighten the straps and position them.

  • @varimama she does a great job of keeping the chest clip at her armpits. We’ve talked a lot about it with her! We always keep it super tight and she can still get in and out. If she wears bulky clothes I adjust as needed. She’s also rear facing at nearly 4. We are very safety aware!
  • EDD/W+D: March 10th 14+1

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out!

Baby is the size of a(n): Peach

Upcoming appts: Had one this morning. Next is Oct. 8th checkup and some blood work.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. Aside from the headaches and lower back pain.

Rants/Raves: Vacation is finally here!! Leaving tomorrow morning and I am so excited!!

Questions: Posted on the weekly question thread.

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?: Definitely would rather be a billionaire. I think it would just help with everyday stress. We would be able to provide for our families, travel, and I would definitely hire a professional chef and trainer to help keep me fit and well fed lol
  • @lemonlove86 Congrats on the little girl!!!  I love the announcement to your coworker!  So cute!  Also, I hope your anxiety stays at bay.  I can't decide if I am doing alright enough to stay off of Zoloft or if I'm not doing well at all and should start taking it.  It's confusing and scary.  The idea of feeling better and less anxious/depressed sounds absolutely lovely, but the risk (albeit small, from what I've heard) freaks me out and I don't want to do something selfish if it's going to hurt the baby.

@stacey6689 Aw, a little peach :)  I'm having headaches, too... but YAY for your vacation being here!  I hope you have tons of fun!
  • @Malidocious I'm sorry you're struggling with the decision whether to take it or not. I've had several friends take Zoloft during pregnancy with no issues. I am going to start Zoloft or Celexa right after birth to prevent PPA/PPD.
  • @jenEP thank you for that!  I don't know anyone personally who was on it during pregnancy, so I've been hesitant.  But I'm leaning more and more toward it every second.

    EDD/W+D: March 13 / 13w5d

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Green

Baby is the size of a(n): Lemon

    Upcoming appts: October 8

How are you feeling?: Better. Mostly just tired. Still anxious. I've been feeling what I believe are early movements occasionally for the last week or two, but I keep convincing myself they're not real.

Rants/Raves: I had my appointment today. My OB couldn't find baby's heartbeat, but she picked up a couple of kicks with the doppler. So I ended up in the ultrasound room because she thought we might have an anterior placenta and baby is perfectly fine, just chilling in the farthest point in my uterus. The placenta is posterior, which I'm really excited about because my previous pregnancy was anterior and I didn't any movement until 22 weeks. I also had blood drawn for NIPT and the nurse really struggled with getting blood out of me (I'm always a hard stick). We're 'officially' team green with my OB's office, they've put it in my paperwork to inform the test company to not determine the sex. My OB also handed me the hospital pamphlet and they've added nitrous oxide since I had my daughter there. And finally, she cleared me for international travel as long as we go before mid December. My husband has to travel to London before then for his job, although we don't know the specific dates yet, and we were hoping to make it a family trip.

    Questions

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?: Billionaire. You can't avoid aging even if you still look 25, extremely smart people often struggle with relating to others, and while not having to watch what I eat may be nice; I think it would be better to be in a financial position where I could help a lot of people.
  • EDD/W+D: 3/12, 14+0

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out (6 weeks to go 😭)

Baby is the size of a(n): peach

Upcoming appts: 10/1 with midwife and scheduling anatomy US from there!

How are you feeling?: morning sickness finally hit me this week. I have thrown up every morning for the last 4 days 😐 I thought it was going to skip me- nope!

Rants/Raves: Rant, I wish that I got notifications for the baby mom group board on my phone! I feel like I miss so much because I have to remember to go back and look for replies etc.

    Questions: none this week

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?: I would be a billionaire. I could hire a personal trainer, afford top of the line skin care, and I’m confident with where my intelligence is at. Plus, SHOPPING 🛍
  • EDD/W+D: 14w3d

    Team Green

Baby is the size of a: Cupcake 🧁 mmm..

Upcoming appts: I know it’s next month sometime, I think in 3 weeks.

How are you feeling?: tired and hungry. My patience for my two kids is thin. Especially in the evening when they won’t GTF to sleep!

Rants/Raves:  Sneezing... it’s not fun anymore. I used to enjoy a good sneeze, It was somehow satisfying. Now it’s just terrifying.
Oh, also my Dr almost spilled the beans on what we are having. We are team green all the way and I had called to confirm my NIPT test results were negative. When I went in for my appointment he asked if I already had my results and I said, “yep!”
then he got this big stupid grin and said, “So you know you’re having a” I had to cut him off!!!! I totally thought we had opted out of that test. 😳 Ay caramba!

     Questions: none

GTKY: Would you rather be a billionaire, never look a day over 25, perpetually fit despite eating whatever you want, or the smartest person on the planet? And why?:

I think never looking a king a day over 25 would be great. I’m gonna assume to look healthy you need to be healthy. Health and happiness kinda go hand in hand for me. Plus I know a few über wealthy families who are also über miserable, so I do not equate money with happiness... though it’s great to have everything you need.

@keeksie : I have been lurking for weeks and not posting for that reason. I always get all caught up in my post and then get distracted. 😂

Also, i’m loving the car thread above.  We need a 3rd row now with #3. Though I’d prefer to keep it SUV, I have no idea what to get.
