  • DD/W+D: 3/11 13weeks!!!

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: blue!!

Baby is the size of a(n): peach

Upcoming appts: this morning! Can’t wait.

How are you feeling?: so-so. Still getting nauseated, which stinks. And I still don’t like many foods. But I can feel it getting a little better. Maybe.

Rants/Raves: I’m going to beg my OB for another ultrasound today. I don’t think H will go for one of the elective places, but we shall see. I hate that I got one at 6w and then not again until 20. Pretty sure this was my rant last week but I’m just annoyed. Lol.

Questions: I can’t think of any. I know I had one. But my brain doesn’t function properly anymore.

GTKY: What are you most proud of? That’s a really tough question! I guess the short answer would be creating the two little humans I have now. And this third one.
  • @MrsVP614 I’m with you on wanting to actually look pregnant. I’m in maternity clothes but it still definitely just looks like I’ve gained some weight. Which I haven’t. So I don’t even know how that’s working? I’m hoping in like 2-3 weeks I’ll pop a little more. I think around 16 is when I did with DS.
  • @sunflower_auryn have you had any side effects while on the meds? I guess that's my biggest fear. I feel okay so far, but I am on a very low dose and I just started taking it yesterday.
  • @lizp1229 I’ve also been on Labetalol since before pregnancy, and haven’t had any issues. I’ve been on some kind of BP meds for about 8 years, and switched to this one at the beginning of the year when we were TTC.

  • @MrsVP614 It's good to know that you haven't had any issues! I hope its effective in managing my pressure.

@keeksie84 Thanks! It's so exciting you were able to find out at your scan. If they are able to determine the gender today, I'm going to have them write it down and put it in an envelope. I want to do a mini gender reveal (just a cake) for our immediate family, especially because this will be my DH's parents first grandchild  :)

    DD/W+D: March 12/12 weeks 6 days

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): Scoop of ice cream (HA, not when I prepare ice cream)

    Upcoming appts: NT scan tomorrow

How are you feeling?: Every organ in my abdomen complains at least once a day about how it's changing in there. Also heartburn pretty much every time I eat.

Rants/Raves: Worked 2 12-hour night shifts this week and my internal clock is now effed  (and my dog is mad at me for changing the routine). I need a new bra and looser pants. It might be time to just buy maternity clothes.

Questions: My boobs are huge. Any tips for getting away with not wearing a bra in public?

  • @stassischroeder Glad your NT scan went well... and yes... MIL is still here. 6.5 weeks, but who’s counting? Hopeful that FIL will be released from the hospital and back to a rehab facility at the beginning of next week.

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Just found out we are team blue! We have two daughters (ages 2 and 4) so this is a huge shock!

Baby is the size of a(n): Apricot

Upcoming appts: Not until the end of the month.

How are you feeling?: Dare I say better? The nausea is a lot less.

Rants/Raves: Back to school coincided perfectly with the second trimester and I feel like a new woman! Having that routine and structure in our lives is so helpful.

    Questions

GTKY: What are you most proud of? I’m most proud of giving up my career to become a stay at home parent. It was such a difficult decision after years of schooling, student loans, pressure from my parents, but it was the right decision for our family and for my husband’s career right now. And even though the days are long, it is such a privilege to be home with my girls right now.
  • @stassischroeder Yes. I was sore after my 8 week ultrasound. The tech pushed fairly hard. It went away after a few days.

+1 to @MrsVP614 and everyone stuck in the awkward “extra fluffy but don’t look pregnant yet stage”. Although wearing maternity clothes is bringing out the bump. We were at a family thing the other night and my FIL was telling some guy I was pregnant and he said “I can see that” so I’m choosing to take that as a positive, “she looks cute and pregnant” and not a, “I’m weirdly examining this chic’s belly fat”. 🤣
  • @lizp1229 They didn't give us an official answer - more like a good guess.  We waited to buy anything gendered until 20 weeks when we were sure.

@stassischroeder I wanted to add that I've been a total B to my husband because I'm so tired of picking up the slack but I didn't want to come off like a total monster...lol.

@Malidocious I'm sorry you're in the middle of that right now.  Its been about 3 years since we separated and its just been in the last 6-12 months that I've really been able to reconcile my anger with my ex and feel more at peace.  Luckily for me, I knew the moment I walked out it was the right decision so at least that part was "easy".

@lizp1229 I haven't had any negative side effects as far as I can tell! @MrsVP614 with being on BP meds before pregnancy did they end up inducing you early? My OB is saying that's what they will most likely do simply because I'm on BP meds prior to pregnancy (to avoid risk of preclampsia even if I'm not showing any signs at the time) and I'm curious if that's common or if I should try to get a second opinion/maybe switch providers?
  • @miss.sally I don’t get another U/S until 20 weeks either! It’s such a long time to wait. Also I’m kind of hoping I have a low placenta again bc it gave me an extra scan at 32 weeks. I’m considering doing an elective one but need to talk to DH about it. Pretty sure he’ll say no. The only one that is affordable near us is an hour away. The close one is $300 😱, this other one is $65!

  • @EmilyLove25 I didn't do a urine catch last time, but I have a different doctor this time. I think it's because of my high blood pressure, to make sure there's not extra protein in my urine.
@sunflower_auryn I was induced last time at 38 weeks, because my blood pressure got too high. It wasn't because of the meds, but because I had pre-e signs. I was told this time around, I can expect induction between 37-39 weeks.
@stassischroeder She's paying our electric bill this month, and has been paying for some meals when we go out. I usually feel uncomfortable when she does that, but not so much right now.  :#

@MrsVP614 Oh my goodness, I can't believe your in-laws are still there!!  I'm glad your MIL is contributing to paying the bills, though; that's helpful at least!

@EmilyLove25 I'm so glad your nausea has subsided considerably!  That's great.  :)  Oh, and I'm getting an elective ultrasound when I'm 15 or 16 weeks, just because I cannot wait until the 20 week anatomy scan.  It really doesn't cost as much as I thought it would!  I'm doing my best not to fret about my uncooperative little bean at the NT scan, but definitely taking solace in the fact that all looked good/normal in there and the blood work results are so good.

@momoftoddlers Yay for a little boy, how exciting!  I love that you're able to be a stay-at-home mama with your babies.  That is my dream!

@keeksie84 Thanks for your kind words. <3  I go back and forth on how I feel about everything.  My ex was my very best friend for a lot of years, but we just did NOT bring out the good in each other.  He was bipolar and very untrusting of everything I did, so it was just really hard to walk on eggshells so often and have to baby him, only for him to be angry and resentful in return.  I wasn't an angel during that relationship, but dammit I always tried to keep things together and make life easy for him.  It just wasn't possible.  We split last year and the divorce has been dragging on and on because he just won't fully let go (which means I can't fully move on and find peace yet).  My partner now has been incredibly understanding and supportive, so I just close my eyes and focus on him and the little baby we are harvesting... I feel like my life is finally settling down into a peaceful place.

@stassischroeder Hiiiiii!  We did get a great look at the basic anatomy during the NT scan.  Everything was accounted for and looked good according to the techs and my OB.  Blood work came back low risk for everything, so I'm taking solace in that. <3  Looked like a sweet little baby in there, just wanting to take a nap (which I can relate to, lol!).

@miss.sally Yay for a good appointment (boo to no ultrasound).  As for the Doppler, the first time I found the heartbeat, it was down on the left side.  Every other time, it has been almost directly in the middle.  It DOES move around, though, which makes it harder to find some days!!  My partner and I are getting an elective US done around 15 weeks, and I am so excited!  It's only $70 and they're going to do a gender determination (I don't fully trust my Sneak Peek results for some reason, lol) and give me pictures and videos of the baby along with a stuffed animal that plays the sound of my baby's heartbeat.  :)  Two more weeks!
  • @MrsVP614 thanks for the info! Yup I had to do a 24hr urine catch too to get a baseline protein level because of chronic high BP @EmilyLove25
  • My NT ultrasound looked completely normal, that's definitely a baby in there. We will get the blood test results next week. They had to stick me 4 times to find a vein that would cooperate so I look like I was in a knife fight.

Insurance won't cover the advanced screening so I didn't bother spending $100 because it should be totally fine. Even though BOO I HAVE TO WAIT 6 MORE WEEKS TO KNOW THE GENDER.

  • I am so far behind this week! Between it being a holiday and being on standby for jury duty I've most definitely been slacking!!!

    DD/W+D
    : March 13th Today is 13 weeks!

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: we got our results this week from The NIPT blood draw and we are having a baby GIRL!

Baby is the size of a(n): LEMON

Upcoming appts: 16 week appt on Sept 24th

How are you feeling?: really good! Actually I did have one full day of sickness on Tuesday, felt like food poisoning? But I also haven't had morning sickness so maybe that's how it feels too.

Rants/Raves: Raves all around! SO excited to be having a healthy baby girl! I honestly thought I wanted a boy but the second the nurse called me and told me I had a healthy baby I was elated. My aunt and uncle never had kids of their own so they helped raise me while my mom worked 3 jobs. My uncle was my best friend, he's the reason I'm a huge football fan, he came to all my sporting events, and took me on all kinds of road trips. When we lost him in 2001 I was in 6th grade and it ruined me. I've always known if I had a girl I wanted to name her Scottie after him, and now i get to! Sept 12th will be 18 years since we lost him so we will make a public announcement then in his honor ❤

Questions: with this being my first experience with all of this, do you get an ultra sound at 16 weeks? DH family will be in town the week of our appointment and I'd love to have an updated image for them

GTKY: What are you most proud of? Honestly, I am so proud of where i am in life. I came from a broken home, have suffered all kinds of loss and i could easily have taken a different path in life. Both DH and i have worked for everything we have with no help from others. It hasn't been easy but i actually feel comfortable bringing a little one into our family. DH makes me so proud to be his wife every day and i know that come March his life is about to be turned upside down because our little one will most definitely have him wrapped around her finger😂
  • @Malidocious @keeksie84 @lemonlove86my NT scan went really well! at first the baby was sleeping in a funny position with its arms crossed, so the tech had to shake my belly a bit to wake baby up. once baby woke up, she was able to get it into the right position for the test; it was very active in there and moved around a lot!

She was also able to get the baby in the right position to see the gender. We found out that we're having a BOY! Of course DH is too excited.

I should get my results from the NT scan and NIPT by Tuesday.

  • DD/W+D: March 13 / 13w1d

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: green

Baby is the size of a(n): lemon

    Upcoming appts: Sept 11

How are you feeling?: Better. Still anxious and gassy though. I'm ready to be done with being gassy.

Rants/Raves: My daughter started preschool this week and already has her first school-related cold.

    Questions

GTKY: What are you most proud of? That I've managed to maintain my relationship with my husband for 13 years (obviously with his help). I struggle a lot with interpersonal relationships and have difficulty maintaining friendships and other kinds of relationships.
  • I should have paid for the NIPT scan, I really regret it now.
Self consciousness is taking control as I notice the weight I'm gaining in my face (which is far more noticeable than that at my tummy to me). Second time moms, will I lose this weight or is it a permanent mom look?
  • @mauvelousone my face definitely gained weight last time but it came off as I lost the baby weight and then some. I was one of those lucky women who had it easy with breastfeeding helping me to loose weight. Not everyone experiences that though.
