@brrrrrrrrie When i had my first daughter, i hated pink everything. I dressed her in every other color known to man yet i could not bring myself to make her girly because I was not girly. After I met my husband and we have girl 3 on the way, he does the shopping for clothes and toys and it is pink and unicorns everywhere!!! My oldest daughter has a collections of super hero dolls and princess dolls.
@lilyrheas ha! I totally hear you! I also recognize I have an irrational frustration with the pink thing. We're pleading for not just pink things on our baby list I just hate that we start pinning them into these super narrow gender roles so early! I think a good mix of superheroes and princesses (and whatever else) is awesome.
@lilyrheas and @brrrrrrrrie it's nuts to me the things that are assigned a "gender color". we're doing our registry and don't know the sex. i don't need girl wash cloths or boy socks. gimme all the plain things!
edit: b/c spelling and grammar are hard sometimes. (i think i went back and fixed my spelling like 3x on this... i'm losing it)
I don’t mind the term “team pink.” I do hate the over gendering of everything though. I will admit dd did wear a lot of girly pink stuff, but mixed with other stuff, but she has always been very particular and wears whatever she wants. In kindergarten, she wore “boys” superhero shirts for the first half (since it is hard to find girls ones) and teenage mutant ninja turtles for the second half (and made us call her michaelangelo.). Now she insists on all plain clothes, but will wear most colors, her favorites are teals and aquamarine.
on the other hand, ds loves animals and I feel like all animal toys and most cute stuffed animals are geared towards girls. I would love to find more Ty stuffed puppies that don’t have pink sparkly eyes.
@brrrrrrrrie Haha, I agree- I'm not into pink, unless it's exactly right. My DD likes pretty much all colors, and she does look good in pink, but I was very resistant buying pink stuff just to prove she was a girl when she was a baby!
I love pink. And I hate over gendering of everything. I saw a set of duplo blocks that were all pink and purple. Really building blocks have to be gendered. It’s stupid. I promise if we had a girl she would have superhero stuff, same as her brother. In this house you don’t have to like pink or blue or certain things but (thanks to DH), you have to like Batman lol
@anniemarie887 we were team green last time. It was tough.
