I had a dream I installed The Sims 4 on my government laptop while showing someone how to run an autopsy report in order for them to gain access to the secure network. I'm not sure what the weirdest part of that dream was....but none of it applies to my job role.
They are threatening to take away the four day weekend for DH’s unit. If that happens I’ll be “working” Labor Day 🙄
Also. Survived our outings this morning, including a meander through Hobby Lobby with a grumpy toddler, and I am officially done adulting for the day. I’m worn the heck out y’all.
SO was in a mood while at his mom's, so I told him I didn't want to argue, he was on his own, and I was leaving and would be back later tonight. He didn't ask where I was going, and I didn't offer the info. Blew off the rest of the day at work, gassed up the car, turned the satellite radio to Pop Rocks, and hit the highway... 2 hours later...
It's a full ten degrees cooler here, but still hot. Not sure I was to risk the bacteria. At least I'm free for a while.
Got the call from the geneticist and the results came back for dh and I’s universal blood test to see if we were both carriers for genetic conditions. I am a carrier for one thing, dh is a carrier for two but neither of us are carriers for the same one, so thankfully nothing to worry about with that. We will find out next week exactly what we are carriers for.
I'm having a love/hate relationship with 2 so far. I love she's excited and interested in so many things, but hate the new stubborn streak and random outbursts. @marebear15 3 tantrums in one trip would be exhausting! @MrsJessS grumpy toddlers are extra draining
PSA for those interested - great british bake off started again tonight. Its just finished here so I would imagine should be available for you guys soon too.
Thanking God I have Labor day off. Luckily I'm actually getting a 4 day weekend out of it because my OB scheduled me for my anatomy scan and monthly appt for that next Tuesday morning. I have to take that full day off because we have a minimum day that day, and it's not worth it for me to just take the morning off. Also, it's hot as hell here right now and I work primarily outside and I kinda want to die at the end of the day.
Can I jump in on the toddler train!? My darling somehow caught croup and was severely constipated. After 2 sleepless nights, I slept with her on the floor in her bedroom. Super comfy.
@FyreFlyeRush I've definitely had some weird dreams recently too!
@marebear15 that's so sad you don't have labor day off. I don't get presidents day for some reason at our school. I was so blindsided my students had to tell me....
@leprechaunlady so excited for GBBO. It's not on Netflix yet....I not very patiently waiting!
@kbrown2385 yay for not being carriers for the same thing!
DH Zane I got new phones and unlimited data plans tonight with Verizon’s bogo deal. Omg I’m loving my new phone so much. 😍😍
@biolprof I feel you on the random holidays university’s do and don’t get. We have Labor Day off. But like Presidents’ Day or some other random holiday we don’t get. But we also get 4 days off at Christmas so I guess I can’t complain. Lol
@marebear15 I get a discount on services through temple but not on the phones themselves. But still it’s better than nothing!! That’s for sure. I’ll definitely need to take advantage of this again in the future for sure.
For anyone who ever watches or is interested in Korean Dramas (highly addictive) Hotel Del Luna, wrapping this weekend, is cute and humorous, with a light suspenseful plot. It revolves around a hotel catering to ghosts who need help finding their way back on the path to the afterlife. Similar to Master's Sun and Goblin, with a side of Miyazaki Hayao's Spirited Away, it's a nice distraction.
You'll need Viki, which can be watched for free with ads, or ad free with a subscription.
If you're more the Netflix type, Love(Romance) is Bonus Book was also a lighthearted, sweet RomCom. Love Alarm is currently really popular, but I couldn't get into it; Memories of Alhambra was intense, and Strong Girl Bong-Soon will have you laughing at the sheer insanity of the storyline.
@leprechaunlady Yep, Prue isn’t my favorite either, but I do like the rest of the “new” crew on GBBO even though I miss the originals.
I’m taking advantage of the Labor Day holiday with a trip to Edinburgh. I’d never been to Scotland before this and utterly love it so far. There was a street band this evening with pipes and a drummer, and DD further entertained the crowd by dancing along and clapping wildly after each song. It was adorable.
I think I felt my baby move! I can't say for sure but it wasn't like anything I've felt before. It was like a fast flutter but it only lasted like 10 seconds. I hope it was what I think it was! 😍 when you feel it for the first time, how long before it starts to be a regular occurrence?
@EmilyE13 you picked the right time to go to edinburgh, its the fringe festival there rornth month of august & there is a lot on in the city. My bil lives there & before we found out about the twins we were planning to go for a long weekend in oct for dh birthday. Plans have been significantly downscaled & were now just going away for a night somewhere closer.
@peppyj9 - With both this baby and my DD, I started feeling movement around 17 weeks and pretty consistent stronger movements by 19 weeks. DH was able to feel DD at 19, and this one at 18 weeks.
@peppyj9 I don't feel anything consistent still (19 weeks), but feel the occasional moment. It's starting to be more regular. It varies for everyone on when you feel them regularly
@biolprof I went to run errands and was baffled by how busy everything was...then remembered it is pay day and a training holiday for most of the base 🤦🏻♀️
I have spent the past few weeks wondering if this was baby moving or that. And then tonight I can feel it on the outside! I'm 19w 1d. Tons of little pokes. H even felt it! Yay!
@FyreFlyeRush I love K-drama too! Haven't had as much time to watch since dd was born, but we have managed to squeeze some in. I'll check out the ones you mentioned. Is Hotel de Luna creepy? Could we watch it with young kids?
@ponyoisfun, it's got creepy moments, but it's not scary in anyway. There is one ghost lacking eyes, and another who's been dead a while...gross. It depends on how sensitive your kids are. I wouldn't have an issue with letting any of the ones around me watch it, and they range from 6 to 12. My middle niece is the 6yo, but she's very sensitive and high emotions/needs, so I put her around 4 emotionally (not mentally). I would still let her watch it, although it would make me crazy to read it to her!
We went to Sams Club today and amongst all the samples they were giving out one of them was Seagrams wine coolers. I feel like I look obviously pregnant, I’ve got the waddle already going on. The woman asked me if I wanted a sample of the Seagrams and then gave me and dh a super confused look when I told her I wasn’t allowed to have it. I can appreciate people not assuming but really.....
DDs swimming lessons started back today after summer break. Then we went to a car seat place to check out what our options are for having a toddler & twins in infant carriers without changing our cars. Tomorrow, were going to a parents to be event purely because you get discount on whatever you order at the event so were going to order our pram, extra car seat etc. Starting to all feel very real now!
@persnickity because we already have a cybex infant carrier & are intending to get the same again we’re not able to do 3 in a row because theyre too chunky with even the slimline highbacked booster 😕 we need to have 2 of the same carriers to go on the adaptor for the pram and the cybex ones have a better safety rating so im reluctant to by 2 new carriers & bases when we already have one that is like new from dd. we’re going to have to go for a front seat option for dd, so are most likely going with a britax evolva 123 which still has the 5 point harness up to 18kg (dd is currently 12.9) and then turns into a highbacked booster. Not an ideal solution by any means but its either that or change our cars which with twins & a new house in the next 6-9months just isnt an option right now given that both our cars are fully paid off after this month.
@leprechaunlady I was wondering about that. We have a Cybex infant carrier too. But with only one infant carrier and one carseat, we're just trying to conserve space in the back to hold our dog. The smallest option we found for the carseat was a clek. Everything else is just so bulky that we couldn't fit it in the car period. I wasn't sure if there was anything better.

@MrsJessS I feel your pain. Grocery shopping the other day had me napping on the couch afterwards. I was exhausted.
It's a full ten degrees cooler here, but still hot. Not sure I was to risk the bacteria. At least I'm free for a while.
I’m ready to curl up on the couch and do nothing now

@leprechaunlady I'm curious what carseat options get recommended. I feel like there are very limited options for getting 3 in a row.
@stashattack @MollySm Still waiting to get to a point where the kicks can be felt from the outside. I'm jealous!
