Re: TFAS Week of 8/26
WTO/TWW? TWW, I just got crosshairs this morning!
Ages of other child(ren)? 2 (3 in November)
Any thoughts about this cycle? I think I need to check myself a bit, my hopes are so high. Earliest I could test and get a positive is this weekend. I've already thought of ways to tell DH and announce to my family. I though I could give DD a Big Sister shirt for her birthday in November and have her open that present last and show everyone.
Any questions? Nope
Rant/Rave/Brag: We had such a good weekend. We took DD to a larger zoo 2 hours away. She had so much fun! Then Sunday I had a baby shower to go to. While there DD told me she had to go potty (before she went in her pull up) and then went on the big potty! That is the first time she has done that!
GTKY: What is your favorite inspirational quote, or what is one you found recently that has stayed with you? I saw this the other day and really liked the message

WTO/TWW? I think TWW but I'm hanging in WTO until I'm sure.
Ages of other child(ren)? 18 months
Any thoughts about this cycle? FF gave me dotted line crosshairs this morning but the timing they have is not good. I think it's off on days based on CF. If I'm right, timing is really good and I'm optimistic. I'd love to get in on the May hype!
Any questions? Not really
Rant/Rave/Brag: DD has been waking up really early the last several nights and either laying awake for over an hour and then crying or waking up crying. She's been able to settle down and self-soothe herself back to sleep for another 1-3 hours after but I'm baffled about why she's just randomly waking up. I haven't noticed signs of teething but I suppose it is possible her canines are coming. She slept till 9 this morning though after waking at 4:30; she was laying awake, occasionally chatting for about an hour and starting whining on and off before going back to sleep somewhere around 6-6:30, so that sleep in was nice.
GTKY: What is your favorite inspirational quote, or what is one you found recently that has stayed with you?
I don't have much in the way of inspirational quotes but a particular lyric from the musical Wicked comes to mind:
"Everyone deserves the chance to fly." I just like the message behind it.
@gingermama29 I'm doing the same thing as you - hanging in WTO until I can confirm... although today might mark the start of TWW for me, I won't know until my B/W tomorrow comes in! It's great that she can self sooth. Also, I love that line from Wicked! Another favorite from the show, for me, that has had so much meaning in my life is "Like a hand print on my heart"

Any thoughts about this cycle? I have had so many mixed feelings this cycle so far. I seriously feel like I've been on a roller coaster of ups and downs haha. I'm choosing to remain hopeful, happy and positive that it will happen for us soon.
Any questions?
Rant/Rave/Brag: This weekend went so fast and I really really can't believe Summer is practically over and that DS starts school on Wednesday.
DH hasn't been feeling that great this past weekend, some stomach issues, so he hasn't really been in the mood to HIO. If I did O this weekend than we got a timing of -4 and -2 in - which isn't great but it's not terrible either so I'm content. I'm hoping to HIO tonight but I know he's not feeling great still and I really don't want to pressure him - not after all the discussions we've had lately about not "forcing" sex to work. ugh
GTKY: What is your favorite inspirational quote, or what is one you found recently that has stayed with you?
"What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly!"

I'm still classifying myself as WTO, but I am hopeful that I've already ovulated. Cycle day 16. Period due on the 7th-ish. I think. I always get it around the 10th of the month. The 7th would be 28 days from the first day of my last period, so...yeah. I'm usually very regular, so there's that.
Ages of other child(ren)?
Emma is 3 years old.

Not really. I'm not temping this cycle & wish I was, but I am forcing myself to relax. I will temp next cycle for sure though.

no

Huge brag lol - DH is taking DD to the beach w/ his family - leaving Thursday evening. I am not going this year. This means I will be getting 3 DAYS TO MYSELF......... feeling guilty, but also ridiculously excited.
GTKY: What is your favorite inspirational quote, or what is one you found recently that has stayed with you?
“Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.”

@gingermama29 Strange about your DD waking up odd hours. Mine has been doing that too lately. She will not go to sleep at her regular time and will wake up randomly crying or babbling to herself. Must be teeth coming in for both. I had thought maybe mine had a headache the other day when she woke up scream-crying from a nap, but wasn't sure. Lots of growing happening at these ages, gotta be tough for them.
@kpearse99 Hope you got some good timing in even though YH is not well. Hope he feels better soon. Where is your quote from? It sounds familiar.
@saladflambe Days to yourself, enjoy!!! I enjoy an evening to myself, that doesn't happen very often.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Nothing really. Sad that I benched myself, but I feel it was for the best. Next cycle is going to be great!!!
Any questions? Don't think so.
Rant/Rave/Brag: Holidays start this Friday! Nervous to be flying for the first time with a child and sad we have to leave our dog behind, but its going to be fun! My friend's wedding is on Saturday and then we will be camping in a spot MH used to go to as a child and just knows I'm going to love it. First vacation as a trio also.
GTKY: What is your favorite inspirational quote, or what is one you found recently that has stayed with you?
"Get busy livin' or get busy dying" from my favourite movie! Guess what it is!
@saladflambe enjoy the time to yourself!
@ottergirl81 FX for a smooth flight with your LO! Sounds like it'll be a fun weekend.
@gingermama29 I'm all about the May hype, it's not a bad time to go on leave for the school year! I love that song from Wicked! Sorry your LO is waking up. Sleep is so precious!
@kpearse99 I'm hoping to HIO tonight as well. I don't know if DH is in on my plans though. He hasn't been sleeping well... Summer has gone so fast this year! I had so many plans to catch up on work that just didn't happen!
@saladflambe I didn't temp my first cycle either and it was frustrating not knowing! Maybe you won't even need to bother with it! FX that your BD timing worked out. Absolutely enjoy the alone time!
@ottergirl81 Sorry about the self bench. If this cycle doesn't work out, I'll have to self bench myself for the next two so I don't lose my summer job! FX for next cycle! Have fun camping! DD loved being outside the whole weekend we were camping. I have no guess for the quote and Googling it is probably cheating!

Any thoughts about this cycle? I don't know. It's my first temping and using OPKs and it's thrown my period tracker apps predicted O date for a loop. Even FF had an earlier FW predicted based off previous cycle data I inputted. I think our timing will be ok though.
Rant/Rave/Brag: DD did a good job camping considering all factors. She was at least pooped by the second night that she passed out!
GTKY: What is your favorite inspirational quote, or what is one you found recently that has stayed with you?
Hahah! I had a fortune in a cookie that I got right before the trips we took: "Over prepare, then go with the flow." I need that because i usually over prepare/plan and then panic when things don't go to plan.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Just leaving my same answer from last week...not sure why this one would be different from any other month but I always hope this is going to be “the one”
Any questions? Nope
Rant/Rave/Brag: DD seems to have adjusted to being back at home, but she is going through a very stubborn phase. She won’t take no for an answer. For example, she saw an escalator on Friday and was absolutely dying to ride it. And not in my arms, she wanted to climb it while it was moving. So I felt like I wouldn’t have been able to be in control of where all of her appendages were going. She had her first public meltdown over it but I think we got through it okay. I pretty much let her do her thing but every so often tried to talk calmly/comfort her. Then when she settled down we went and had some lunch and all was well again. Is this what they are referring to by “terrible twos”? She will be 2 in November and I have no idea what I’m doing haha. It was very interesting to see how everyone walking by reacted to us though! I always look away/ignore when I see a kid having a tantrum but I honestly appreciated the people who made eye contact with me and smiled kindly lot more!
GTKY: I’m sorry if this is a lame GTKY - I had to change a duplicate thread and came up with something quickly based on what has been on my mind. I just read Lauren Graham’s book “Talking as Fast as I Can” on vacation (okay, I read a third of it on vacation and finished it at home haha) and in it she says “But life doesn’t often...give you what you want exactly when you want it, otherwise it wouldn’t be called life, it would be called a vending machine.” Ha. I keep thinking about it and even though it’s not anything groundbreaking it is helping me in an odd way.
@bows22 That quote from the book you're reading is great, it makes sense. I like it.
@gingermama29 I hope your O date becomes clear and you join the TWW! I wish I had advice about your DD's sleep but I'm pretty lost in the sleep department.
@kpearse99 You are such a positive person, I love it!
@saladflambe Enjoy the time to yourself!! What do you have planned?
@ottergirl81 We are flying this weekend too, good luck!!

Any thoughts about this cycle? I'm doing okay right now, relatively calm and somewhat optimistic, but I know the BSC is coming soon.
Any questions? I am flying with DS on Saturday morning (so freaking early) - our flight leaves at 5:20 AM. So I will need to wake him up at least a little before 4 AM. He usually sleeps until 6:30-7 AM. I figured that flight would be better than pushing bedtime back three hours. Anyway, I'm wondering if his schedule will be completely thrown off and if he will be miserable all weekend. We are new to this whole "schedule" thing, anyone done anything similar?
Rant/Rave/Brag: I'm excited for the weekend but I'm already pooped thinking about it as it's one of this quick trips that won't feel too relaxing. :P I am leaving DS with my in-laws for 2 days and I'm a little nervous about that as I've never spent the night away from him...
GTKY: What is your favorite inspirational quote, or what is one you found recently that has stayed with you?
"This too shall pass"
@bows22 I hate to tell you - but 2's are NOTHING compared to 3's!!! I also found with DS that if I explained his options, even at a younger age, we could avoid the "refusing to take no for an answer phase". Like, if that was him over the escalator I would give him options of he can either: 1) Stand on the escalator and hold my hand, 2) I can hold him on the escalator or 3) we don't go on. And then he got to pick which one. I think with that age it's all about being able to make the decisions, not necessarily pushing the boundaries or testing the limits ya know? So if you give them the impression that THEY are making the decision, out of the safe options you provided, it could (hopefully) avoid a meltdown!
@rachelg777 Oh I've had my moments here of NOT being positive (like the last two cycles.. I was stuck in a rut and it sucked!) But I do try very hard to find the positive and good in every situation. My best friends favorite quote is that one!!
As for the schedule thing - I've been very big on keeping DS on a schedule, even now at 7 we still have our routines, but I did learn that kids are pretty resilient and they will adjust their schedule as needed sometimes. I think your DS will be wide awake on the plane, not overly tired and cranky so that's good - you picked a good time to fly - and will probably crash for a nap once you get in the car to drive. Which will be a good refresher for him. Then he'll be so excited taking in the new surroundings that you should hardly notice a change in behavior. Stick to you bedtime for him though, if you can - as it will help with the next day!

@kpearse99 I've been following your posts about your cycle and I honestly was thinking that you were getting a false surge that first time. I just had a feeling based on your recent longer cycles and I just thought that seemed early to O, even with meds. I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner. FX that you did finally O and you don't have to go back for another cycle.

@rachelg777 I try to stick to our schedule as best I can when we are away. We did let DD stay up later on vacation and it was fine. We had some issues with bedtime when we got home (she wanted to be rocked to sleep for a couple of nights) but we’re past it. I’m sure it will be hard to leave your DS overnight for the first time! My mom is the only one who has watched DD overnight so far and she watches her 2 days a week so she doesn’t need instruction. I would be stressed too but I’m sure it will be fine and your ILs are going to love it!!
Edit spelling
@bows22 Thanks, that's helpful. You're right, he will probably adjust fine and it will be better than I expect. I just hope my IL's follow the schedule!

@kpearse99 I haven’t seen it, any chance my H would like it or is it really just directed at moms?
I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! We are off to a great start. I’m off so we went to story time at the library, to yoga, and out to lunch! DD and I shared a milkshake after lunch to celebrate the end of the summer. She had no idea what it was but when I gave her a drink her eyes got big and she said “eye peam!” really softly like she was just so amazed that it was a drink made of ice cream. I feel bad now that DH missed her reaction, it was so sweet. We had such a nice day but I’m exhausted now. Sometimes I worry that if/when we have another I won’t ever leave the house again without DH!
@bows22 You read my mind! I think this definitely calls for a date night.
ETA @bows22 Your DD's reaction to a milkshake is sooooo cute I love it. I just wish we could like bottle up those little moments and replay them forever.

Month/Cycle? 5/5
WTO/TWW? TWW
Ages of other child(ren)? 3yr
Any thoughts about this cycle? I feel good about this cycle... I've been SS like crazy but I feel confident about this one.
Any questions? What do y'all recommend for BBT thermometers and tracking apps. If this isn't the cycle I want to be prepared for my next one.
Rant/Rave/Brag: Not sure this is a rant or a rave just something I want to ask/say. My first pregnancy was not planned. I had an IUD and found out I was pregnant at 11.5 weeks after they accidentally mixed up my results with someone else's and had told me I wasn't pregnant when I had gone in. I am really struggling with the TTC and it's only 5 months in. I know it's unreasonable, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Anyone else TTC for the first time even though you're TFAS?
