Upcoming appts: This friday I am going for my NT scan and to meet with a genetic counselor to go over my NIPT results. Then I have my routine 4 week checkup with the OB on September 11th.
How are you feeling?: The nausea is really getting to me. My OB gave me some samples of Bonjesta but I haven't taken any yet. I just feel real nervous about taking anything so I've been drinking ginger tea and living on carbs and tums. The nausea starts to hit around dinner time till I go to sleep. I've only had to actually throw up twice but lets see what happens.
Rants/Raves: 24 days till my 10 night cruise!! I am so excited for this vacation, especially since this might be the last one till after the baby arrives. We are going all out for this one. My DH has really been picking up the slack around the house since I am just so tired and nauseous all the time. He ordered me my body pillow from amazon and I must say it's taking some getting use too.
Questions: None.
GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Being that I live in a big city, I would really love that small town life and to be surrounded by nature. We really enjoyed our trip to Bar Harbor, Maine last year. We are not warm weather people. I love fall and winter and so does my DH. I also like to hike and take walks so someplace like Bar Harbor. I just loved it.

Upcoming appts: *updated* NIPT blood draw and NT scan on September 4th. Otherwise the next routine appointment is Sept 20.
How are you feeling?: Decent. Some days are better than others. Less overall nausea, but I think that's partially because I started taking my prenatals at night instead of at lunch time. I thought the fatigue was getting better... but nope, still exhausted.
Rants/Raves:
Rave: we have family pictures tonight, and I'll be using part of the photo shoot for a pregnancy announcement
Rant: OMG my jawline, neck, chest, shoulders, and upper back are breaking out LIKE CRAZY. This definitely didn't happen with my first pregnancy. Super fun.

GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Oh man, good question. I think a full time residence in the PNW or Colorado mountains would be great. But I'd definitely need a vacation home or a good vacation budget for trips to somewhere tropical in the winter!

@stacey6689 I can relate to not being warm weather people! I used to think I wanted to live in FL full time, but now there's no way in hell. And, being a city girl who now lives in a small town.... just make sure the small town you land in has the amenities and social climate that you want

How are you feeling?: getting sick and tired of being so sick and tired. I should be thankful I’ve only thrown up a couple times but the all day and night nausea is wearing me down and I think I could sleep 24 hours and still want a nap
Rants/Raves: DS has been the sweetest lately (when he’s not in full on tantrum mode). Every picture we draw has to have 4 of what we are drawing Mommy, Daddy, DS, and Baby. He’s even starting to actually draw things himself like spikes on a dinosaur or the string for a balloon. I love when I can see him making actual progress!

GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? If it were just me I’d say somewhere tropical like Jamaica but since DH and DS don’t do well in the heat maybe like Oregon or Washington state. I’ll always have a fondness for Cincinnati in my heart too since it was the first place I lived independently so I’d go there in a heartbeat.

@stassischroeder hope your family pics go well! I just booked a maternity shoot since I regret not doing one with DS. Tentatively for end of November even though it’s early but I am kind of hoping to use them for Christmas cards too but the photographer is happy to move them later if I haven’t popped enough by then!

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out, I’ve been on the fence about finding out but now I feel excited that we will know for sure. I can get rid of LOTS of girl stuff if we have a boy, or I will have to buy next to nothing if we have another girl. Either way I am excited!

Upcoming appts: NIPT and NT scan on 8/27, the day before my 35th birthday
How are you feeling?: Much better! Definitely not 100%, but every day feels slightly easier to get through.
Rants/Raves: Rave: DD2’s EEG, CT scan, and neurology exam came back clear after her seizure. They think it was due to a stomach virus. Another rave is that DH and I are going out of town kid-free this weekend to a beautiful resort for his best friend’s wedding. We are going to hike, eat, and sleep for 2.5 blissful days.

GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Probably central or southern California near the beach. I love the ocean, but Washington is just a tad too cold for me. San Diego would be perfect. DH would never live in CA because he needs his mountains and there's way too many people there for him, so it’s really just a dream. My second option would be Idaho.
@jenEP that's crazy that the seizure could've been from a stomach virus! Bodies are so weird. Also, color me jealous of your upcoming kid-free weekend!

EDD/W+D: March 13th (Friday the 13th, which my horror-loving self is pumped about!) / 10w+3d (Can I just say how good it feels to finally know these things? I felt so clueless, lost, and nervous when I was floating around unsure of the conception date. I love knowing more conclusively.)
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: I really want to find out. I always thought I was going to be surprised and find out when I gave birth, but now that I'm pregnant and it's all a reality instead of just a daydream, I want to know.

Upcoming appts: I have a quick one on Wednesday the 21st, because I haven't officially met my OB yet. I'm going to see what sort of testing I can have done that day... I'd really be interested in knowing the gender, dang it. Otherwise, I have an US and my NT scan on August 29. Going to take my partner to that one and I hope he gets as excited/emotional/happy as I did when I saw the little bean on the ultrasound last week.
How are you feeling?: I'm feeling a lot more hopeful than I have been, which is scary. I'm still super nervous about, well, everything, especially with NT and NIPT scans coming up. Physically, I'm so tired. I keep thinking I can't get any more tired and that this part should be going away soon with second trimester approaching, but I feel like it's getting worse! No MS really, just some on and off nausea and major food aversions/cravings. Oh, I'm also ridiculously congested with a runny nose that is also stuffy at the same time. It's the most annoying.
Rants/Raves: Rave and then a rant!
Rave: My boyfriend and I went to St. Louis for the weekend and it was so fun to just get away for a while and unwind! I was exhausted but still rallied. We went to a Jenny Lewis concert and explored the Loop. It was lovely! We did, however, stay up until 3 AM on Saturday and I'm still recovering from that!!
Rant: I must have slept wonky or something because on Sunday, I noticed that my neck hurt when I moved it. Last night, it was considerably worse and even laying down didn't help. Today, the pain is unbearable. I haven't been able to look down at all without bending my torso, and looking any direction aside from perfectly straight forward huuuurts and I have to turn soooo slowly. I'm basically the most impatient person in the world, so having to wait for this pinched nerve to fix itself seems like torture.
Questions: None at this time, that I can think of...
GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I'd probably live in Colorado somewhere. It is BEAUTIFUL there, and the weather is lovely. A few of my close friends live there and they adore it. Otherwise, Maui. I love Hawaii so much, and if I could make my parents and my sister and her family move there, too, I'd go in a heartbeat!

@stassischroeder Little kumquat! Prenatals before bedtime versus in the morning has changed my life completely. I only took them in the morning a handful of times, but I always got so sick. My sister is a GP and recommended that I take them before bed instead, and no nausea at all. I love it! The exhaustion, on the other hand, is something that we are stuck with forever, I think. Also, the acne sucks too. My face looks and feels like I'm 15 all over again. Laaaame. OH but family pictures sound soooo fun, especially with the pregnancy announcement element!! Yay!!! I definitely want to get some family photos taken before my little peanut is here, just to document the pregnancy and have some shots of me and my guy solo, one last time, lol.
@varimama Donut hole, so cute! Jamaica would be amazing to live if you can handle the heat. I went there on my honeymoon back in January of 2016 and it was FANTASTIC. Such a beautiful place!!
@jenEP Lego man! I love it! Good luck at your scans! Mine are both on August 29... I'm nervous but I'm ready. YAY FOR YOUR DAUGHTER'S SCANS BEING CLEAR! And another yay for getting to go away to a resort for a wedding with your husband, how fun! Have all the fun ever!

Upcoming appts: Friday, August 30th. I was seeing my usual gyno up until 8 weeks, so I picked a new doctor who does OB and that will be my first appointment with her and her practice. She works as part of a hospital group and I have to call an answering service that relays the message to the doctor to schedule appts and ask questions, which is very annoying. I'm hoping once I'm not a new patient her online portal will open so I can message with questions. Since it's a new patient appointment, I called back and requested NIPT, asked what brand they use (if that's the right word for it) and NT scan. I got a message from the office saying that the dr will "talk about options for testing" with me at my appt and if I decide on NIPT (which I definitely want to do) the NT scan won't be necessary and she can order the test for me.
TLDR: I'll get NIPT done hopefully the same day of my next appointment but I'm not sure which test they use, so not sure what to ask my insurance.
How are you feeling?: Overall, MUCH better and less nauseous. Hungry all the time, and my boobs are still sore AF.

GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I love living in Chicago, but would much prefer milder winters and I love being outside, so probably somewhere like Colorado! The midwest is so darn flat and not exciting to look at so mountains for hiking is ideal!

I love right where I am in idaho! However I would move back to Nashville in a heartbeat as well
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: team finding out. with DD, she didn't cooperate at her anatomy scan (sat with her legs crossed!), and I wasn't able to find out (though I had a 'feeling' she was a girl.) with DS, husband and I decided not to find out. (it kind of turned out to be anti-climactic. I was so excited over his birth, I wasn't really concentrating on the gender at that point!) this time, I definitely want the experience of finding out! @babyfox320, I too think it might help with bonding to know. @jenep, I have the same issue with the clothes situation... if it's a girl, I'm going to have to buy all new things since I've long gotten rid of DD's stuff, if it's a boy, I still have all of DS's stuff saved. so knowing just for that reason alone is going to be helpful.

How are you feeling?: better. my nausea was insane this past weekend, and I think it peaked at that point - because by Sunday, I was feeling a little better and by Monday the nausea was almost gone. Now I've been sooo hungry. I just can't get enough to eat. I'd much rather have the hunger than the nausea though! I'm also feeling more hopeful this pregnancy is going to stick.
Rants/Raves: Rave: I told my supervisor at work about my pregnancy and she was very happy for me, which was refreshing. I was going to hold off for a bit (until 2nd tri), but in a way, I'm glad I told her now because I would like her support if things don't work out. I work from home, so it's been pretty easy to hide the morning sickness.... I have a feeling the entire office would be gossiping about "is she or isn't she" if I still worked from there. especially since they have 2 other women who are pregnant.

GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I'd probably live in a country house outside a bigger city in the midwest. I love country living (grew up on a farm) but I like being close to a city for things to do. I also like the changing seasons, though really long winters can sometimes suck.. it is still nice to have snow for Christmas in my opinion.
@Malidocious the NIPT (blood test) is what can tell you the sex, and most take 5-10 business days to get the results. I'm glad you had a great mini vaca, but damn, it sounds like your neck is giving you hell!
@treetop19 at least babies and toddlers don't care what they wear, so you can certainly get away with using at least some of the clothes you already have, regardless of what the sex of this baby is

Rants/Raves: We're starting to "go public" slowly with friends and family. It freaks me out a little but also feels good. I took a cute announcement photo that I've been sending along to folks.
Questions: Maybe this is more appropriate for symptoms, but is anyone else getting pubic bone pain? I had some pretty significant separation with DD, but I don't seem to remember it this early at all. Second time around is no joke!
GTKY: Somewhere that doesn't get three feet of snow at a time like where I live. I get so sick of scraping my car.

Upcoming appts: I called my OB to ask for a scan since I had the kidney infection last week. I’m hoping they’ll get me in sooner than later. And then I have my monthly appointment next week! Also had my blood drawn this morning for the NIPT.
How are you feeling?: ok. Most of my UTI/kidney infection symptoms are gone thankfully. Still really nauseous. I keep thinking I should try and not take my unisom/b6, but I’m nervous! I may give it one more week. Up until I actually had my blood drawn I was mostly just excited to find out the sex, but now my anxiety is in high gear that there’ll be some chromosomal abnormality. Ugh. The next week will be rough.
Rants/Raves: one week until DD goes back to school. I’m so ready for her to go. We have done a LOT this summer and I’m ready to get back into a routine.

GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I really miss living in the Seattle area. The PNW is just so beautiful. I prefer mild weather so Pittsburgh isn’t my favorite. I think I’d also do well somewhere like San Diego.

GTKY: There's tons of places that I would enjoy living in for a while, like I'd love to spend a few years abroad in Germany, but I think when it comes down to it I like my familiar hometown in Maryland. All my stuff is here anyway.

How are you feeling?: I had felt pretty good up until this week. Nausea has intensified and I've been dealing with major sinus drainage and sore throat since Sunday. I'm also having some tummy troubles and insomnia. Now I'm just anxious about getting my NIPT results, and really hoping for good news before the weekend.
Rants/Raves: Rant: Besides feeling like poo, FIL was taken back to the hospital Sunday night from his rehab facility for pneumonia. Not sure how much of a setback this will be. We were hoping to have him at DS's birthday party Saturday, when we reveal our pregnancy.. and I was hopeful they'd be headed back home after that. Not so sure now.
Also, our jerk of a president is in my city today, so everything will be crazy.
Rave: Yesterday, DS turned 2! Luckily he's impressed with the little things, and was happy with his balloon and ice cream outing. We also brought donut holes to daycare yesterday, which he loved. We'll have his party Saturday and reveal that we're pregnant, and I'm looking forward to finally sharing! I'll feel much better about it though if we get some good news from NIPT before then.

GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Ireland, hands down. We honeymooned there, and talk about it all the time. ETA: We're happy where we are now, which is my hometown. We lived at the beach for a while, and it wasn't for me.

@stassischroeder I hope your photo shoot went well! That's exciting! I also have lots of gender neutral clothes, and we were team green, so all of our "gear" is neutral, which is my style anyway. I'm happy about reusing lots of stuff, and like you said, they don't care. It's our stupid society.
Also, I must say, I've been stalking other boards that I've missed out on, like 1st Tri & TTGP, and you're my freaking hero.

Rant/Rave: We just got back from an amazing week at the lake and I miss it so much. I felt so calm and now reality is a smack in the face. The kids are having re-entry issues and are just so ready for school to start. Two more weeks! I crave that routine so much.
If I could live anywhere it would be the French countryside, with weekends in Paris. I love the culture, the food, just such a different vibe.

How are you feeling?: So anxious for NIPT results! I'm holding off telling anyone at work until I get them and I'm feeling too huge to hide! I need to wear a big sweatshirt to hide it and its still too warm here.
Rants/Raves: Students come back to school next Wednesday and I've been in denial about summer ending. I am now feeling the pressure to get my classroom set up and have everything ready for the first day of school. This will be my 8th year teaching and I still get really anxious/lose sleep/have nightmares about the first day of school.
Questions: When are we getting HDBD going??
GTKY: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? TBH, I'd probably live right where I am. I'd love to have a "forever home" here, closer to Seattle. I often think about where I'd rather live and usually always circle back to the PNW. Also, I'm loving all the PNW love on this thread!

@lemonlove86 I'm in the same boat as you with the clothes. I fully busted out the maternity clothes, but can't wear them at school until I announce. I feel extremely self conscience standing in front of all my middle schoolers feeling so big. I'm worried one of them is going to say something.

@MrsVP614 man, at this point I'd be taking out a loan to put MIL up at a hotel next to the hospital. I realize FIL's illness is a big deal, and I'm all for helping out family, but I can't believe that MIL doesn't seem to comprehend what a burden she is. Glad DS had a good birthday

@stassischroeder Thank you! I don't know if I'm going to end up getting an NIPT because insurance is being annoying (doesn't consider it medically necessary for me unless something abnormal shows up on the NT scan), and my OB office is adamant that I don't need one because I'm not AMA. I still have a few more phone calls to make. I'm THIS CLOSE to just giving up and saying I won't voluntarily opt for the NIPT if it's this difficult to do without spending a small fortune. I might just get a Sneak Peek gender kit thing, cross my fingers that the NT scan goes smoothly on the 29th, and call it a day. Also, I'm glad your photo shoot went well! Hope the pictures are everything you wanted and more!
@lemonlove86 I literally went 33 years thinking I'd want to be surprised about the gender of my baby whenever that time were to come, but here I am NEEDING to know, lol. I think it'll just help settle my anxiety, which happens when there are unknowns in situations. Pregnancy is full of enough unknowns as it is!
@babyfox320 I am in the same boat, not feeling incredibly attached yet. I think mine mostly stems from PGAL fears, that I can't let myself get too excited. I think knowing the gender might help make it seem more real because that's a milestone I haven't hit before in any of my previous pregnancies.
@treetop19 I'm glad you were able to tell your supervisor and she was kind about it. I ended up having to tell my boss this week, too. It was a huge weight off of my chest, actually. I wanted to hold off a little while longer, but oh well.
@WorkingOnMyNightCheese That picture is ADORABLE. Your daughter is so cute! Albinism is pretty rare but such beautiful coloring. Oh, and thank you for reminding me that I need to restock my snack drawer at work. I am ravenous right now but I've eaten all my goodies... dang it!
@'miss.sally' I hope all trace of the infection is gone and you're feeling better. Waiting for the NIPT results is probably difficult, but I hope you're able to focus on some other stuff in the meantime and time moves quickly! Oh and Seattle is an amazing area! One of my dearest friends lives there and I go visit whenever I can. I love it there!

@mauvelousone THE EXHAUSTION IS SO REAL! I've never been so tired in my entire life, and I used to run marathons.
@MrsVP614 I cannot even believe what a trooper you have been during this in-law drama! I'm glad that your FIL's surgery went well and he's on the road to recovery, but my goodness, I feel like they've been staying with you FOREVER. I'd be losing my mind -- no wait, I would have already lost my mind! I'm excited for Saturday when you get to share your news with everyone!
@momoftoddlers We are almost to the end of the 1st trimester, yay! I'm 10w+6d, so I feel you! So ready for more energy, starting to show, and Fall weather!
@keeksie84 FX for great NIPT results!! My NT scan is this a week from today and I'm so anxious already! OH and Jenny Lewis was FANTASTIC!! Such a great, laid back show! I wish I could go back and go all over again! Lol! They played a few Rilo Kiley songs and I was in heaven!
