Re: Check in for everyone!

  • Status (due date / birth date etc): due August 4 but baby is 6 weeks old

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: we have a weight check next week. Last check was 6lbs7oz and that was a week and a half ago. She seems bigger in appearance and chunk starting to come so I'm inserted to see the new stats...

How are you doing? Good! DH has to leave soon for a few weeks and it's a weird baldness between not wanting him to be gone long especially because I feel guilty that he had to miss so much time with our toddler and baby who change so quickly, but wanting him to book flights with enough time to get everything done that he needs to 😬

Anything else/questions: in just over PP bleeding. Apparently it's normal to spot for 4-6 weeks PP and I'm still spotting most of the time and I'm 6 weeks PP tomorrow. Nothing else  seems out of the ordinary, but I don't remember  it going this long after ds. With ds i didn't get app period until 13 or 14 months PP so hourly that will happen again and it will be a consolation for spotting on the longer  end of spectrum now.

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose?
I would probably choose one place for 10 days....I like to go more in depth and find out more relaxing than constant go -go -go vacations.

  • Status (due date / birth date etc): RCS on 8/9

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: Winter Melon (?) - probably around 6.5 lbs

How are you doing? Good, just counting down!

Anything else/questions: Just happy about this heat reprieve lately.

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? Depends on the company. If it's me and DH, then it would be fun to do 10 places for one day each ... if it's with the kiddos, I would probably die at that pace and would definitely choose the 1 place for 10 days.

  • Status (due date / birth date etc): just hanging out...Due 8/24,

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: Papaya (I don't think I've checked this since the last bump check-in, maybe 2 months ago...)

How are you doing? Good, seeing people have their babies is making me impatient, but I need to keep reminding myself that I'm not due for almost another month, and I need to be patient. Also, I keep telling people I've accepted that being exhausted is just part of life now, but I think I may be lying to myself.... I want one good night's sleep, is that too much to ask?!?!

    Anything else/questions: Not really.

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? one place for 10 days, I hate packing, so I would want to minimize that. (even though packing for one day would be easier than packing for 10 days. 🤔🤔🤔)
  • @BigBadWolf12 I was told that bleeding/spotting is normal for approx. 6-8 weeks pp. With DS#1 I spotted for over 8 weeks. I was just about to make a doctor's appointment to make sure everything was really ok when it stopped. It's annoying, but normal.
  • Yes am sad nobody is really posting their baby arrivals etc.. I am currently 38w1d and hoping this baby comes any day now. I have a doctors appt today so hopefully I am progressing down there. Was dilated to a 1 and 50% effaced on my last appt. I am doing fine except lots of pressure and lower back pain makes for not very good sleeping. Looking forward to the massage chair while I get a pedicure today!
I would go to the same place for 10 days due to actually enjoying as much as I can about the place and not being rushed!
  • Status (due date / birth date etc):
Due on 8/5, Babies born on 7/10 so 3 weeks old now

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats:
They had just about regained their birth weight by Sunday, no length measurements yet

    How are you doing?
Still trying to get a hang of things and quite sleep deprived but good

    Anything else/questions:
I'm wondering after how long we can start trying to make a shift from sleeping all day and staying awake alot at night... also ways of going about it

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose?
One place for 10 days! I love my lazing around time
  • Status (due date / birth date etc):
due 8/5. Patiently waiting for her to make her grand appearance any day now

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats:
    watermelon

    How are you doing?
today was my last work day so that makes me feel better. Having lots of BH and just super impatient

    Anything else/questions:
What are you ladies wearing home from the hospital?

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose?
oooo probably 10 places for one day each. I love exploring new places but that does sound exhausting

    38 weeks exactly today!

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats:
    Winter melon I believe 🤔

    How are you doing?
Excited, but I still have a lot to do at home  which stresses me out. Only 2 cm dilated (appt last week) and was told baby is still pretty high so hoping for progress at next dr visit.

    Anything else/questions:
I've been a member for a while now but never posted 🙈 like reading about others birth stories/progress so I thought I share mine 😊

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose?

Probably one place for 10 days, I hate packing/unpacking lol

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: Estimated 5lbs6oz, so a sack of flour!

How are you doing? 😬 Pretty good. Hooked up to an NST as we speak. I wouldn’t mind waking so much to pee if it didn’t hurt so much to get out of bed.

    Anything else/questions: Nothing right now!

GTKY: If I was  solo & in the correct company, I’d do 10 places, 1 day each!
  • Been lurking since November. Wished I participated more as it was nice to have others sharing this experience. I have no one I know with babies so it's a difficult time for me. Plus I'm AMA and PAIF so really no one to relate with except on these boards. Sadly our board is pretty dead since the FB migration.

    Status
Due date / birth date etc): 8/1 but arrived on July 21 so 10 days old

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: last weight two days ago was 5lbs 11 ounces almost back to birth weight of 6lbs 2 ounces

How are you doing? Struggling as baby girl doesn't latch well so she takes a long time to BF. Sleep deprivation is a real beast. Trying to manage emotions that creep up about feeling inadequate. But we've worked so hard and long to get here and she's so precious so I press on as best I can.

    Anything else/questions:

TKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose?  10 places as I love to travel and see the world.
  • @BigBadWolf12 Thanks for reviving this board.

Status (due date / birth date etc): 8/8

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: Wintermelon

How are you doing? On maternity leave, so pretty great. Relaxing at home binge watching my shows

Anything else/questions: Appointment this Friday to check progress (still closed) and set induction date

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? 1 place for 10 days so it actually feels like a trip.
  • tatus (due date / birth date etc):Due August 8th but bring induced on the 5th!

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: Winter Melon?

How are you doing? I feel like i have so much to do! In reality I know it doesn’t matter too much as it’s just nursery stuff but still...Also nervous about being induced when yesterday I was only dilated 1 1/2

Anything else/questions: Anyone here been induced before?

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? I’d go to one place for ten days, I’m pretty lazy.
  • @nimo-ad you can do things to encourage night/day from the beginning, like being loud and bright during the day but quiet and dark at night, go for a walk or even just step outside for a bit to get fresh air and sun in the morning and give them a bath before bed at night...

@newmamakt with DS (cs delivery) I wore one of my maternity dresses home. With this one (vbac) I wore Capri leggings and a flowy top.

@calee633 the first while can be so tough! Don't let "I *should* feel differently because I wanted this so long /worked so hard for this /etc" make you feel pressured to feel a certain way or guilty about how you actually are feeling. Being PAIF or whatever other obstacles have been overcome to get baby doesn't mean that the hard parts of newborn life and parenting in general are any less difficult. By all means use it as encouragement if it works, but don't let it try to dictate how you *should* feel about anything if that makes  sense.
Also, you may have already looked into this but have you tried a nipple shield? I'm currently using one with DD and it was complete night and day from what she was able to do without it!

  • @newmamakt I am jealous that todayvwas your last day of work. I am just hoping I go into labor so I don’t have to work this weekend. I don’t have off until this child decides to come. I am planning on just wearing something comfy home.. pry a flowy T-shirt dress that goes to my knees
  • Nice to see other lurkers posting! I was semi-active posting in trimester 1, with all the excitement, but between work and complications I stopped. Now, I’m getting impatient and looking here to see everyone’s baby stories.

Status (due date / birth date etc): 36 weeks, Official due date by doc is 8/27, but I’d be shocked if she waits that long. (IVF due date is a few days before this, and I’ve been contracting since 28 weeks. They’re coming and going every few days, but getting more intense each time they start up. Tonight I had some doozies!)

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: ~6lb

How are you doing? Ok. Utterly exhausted from insomnia. I’ve had pelvic floor issues for the last 10 weeks causing lots of pain when I move. I’m just over being pregnant, which makes me feel bad saying because we worked so hard for this baby girl, but I feel like I’ve been pregnant for years at this point. (I’m also AMA at 36, and PAIF.) I’m ready to get my body back, and meet her! <3

Anything else/questions: nope! Just looking forward to hearing baby stories as they come in. :)

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? Definitely one place for 10 days at this point in life. 10 years ago I’d have rather visited 10 places. Haha! Now, I’d like the calmness, and relaxation of a longer vacation in one spot.
  • @calee633 I'll echo what @BigBadWolf12 said, having a new born is so difficult, and there are so many hormones, it's ok to feel how you feel. But if it gets too overwhelming, you may want to think about talking to someone, PPD/PPA can be so difficult.
Also, one of my pet peeves, is how it's so taboo to talk about how hard breast feeding is. I don't know if you remember but we did have a thread about it a while ago -https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12741548/breast-feeding-wins-woes-and-worries/p1.
Also, if you haven't already, I recommend talking to a lactation consultant, I don't think I would have been able to BF my oldest with out the help mine gave me.

  • Also a lurker since Nov. Decided to finally post.

Status (due date / birth date etc): Aug 14th but the doctor thinks it'll probably be in the next week.

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: Winter melon

How are you doing? Finding a good position to rest in has been tough. :-( otherwise basically nesting.

Anything else/questions: All the best to all of you as you go into labor.

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? One place for ten days, for sure. I like my vacations to be lazy.
  • I'm surprised at how many of us are saying one place for 10 days with regards to the gtky. I thought I'd be in the minority!

How are you doing? oh plugging along. THis kid is a gymnast and though it does go head down has not decided to stay there which has caused a lot of agita with some of the more conservative MW. THey were even pushing for version and induction this week. I pushed back and we are just going to wait and see. As a VBAC my induction options are limited so I don't want to do it too early and have this kid not be ready. (well really I don't want to induce at all if I can help it).

    Anything else/questions:

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? I think stay in place....

@BigBadWolf12 so glad to hear that the baby is doing well. I totally get the mixed feelings about DH leaving and the length of time

@MamaK225 your getting so close!! I hope your hanging in there with all the heat

@nimo-ad have at it any time... we tried hard to keep the twins on a schedule... so wake, play, eat, nap... also if you can manage it short outings (even just a walk outside) can help shift their schedules.... they will get better about sleeping at night but it can take some time. Hang in there, you are doing awesome!!!

Thank you so much for linking that thread. I remember reading through it but it makes more of an impact now that I'm in the thick of it.

I did see a LC and was told yes her latch isn't great but she's gaining appropriately so continue but feed every 2 hours.  The thing is it takes sometimes 45 minutes or more to get her to be full which leaves zero time until the next feeding. Leads to a very tired mama. I keep thinking it'll get better the next feed.  I have contemplated supplementing so many times but don't want to give in yet. Of course I know my mental well-being and her being fed is much more important than keeping with BF so I'm still being real about this part of the journey.

It really made me feel better reading comments from a couple of you. I had a stretch of tough days but yesterday was better. Hopefully as the days continue I'll get better at all of this.

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose?

I would go to one place for 10 days!
  • @calee633 supplementing isn't giving in and doesn't have to be forever. Also keep seeing an LC... mine have told me its OK to cut off a feeding once they are not actively swallowing and they are just soothing... you want to see good swallows otherwise your poor nipples get so sore. (been there done that...) does you baby have any lip or tongue ties? having those fixed can make a world of difference. Also a good latch is so important. (again your nipples will thank you for it) Also when babies get older they do get more efficient so it won't take so long.

  • Status (due date / birth date etc):
Jacob was born on July 14, and he came home from NICU on July 30.

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats:
At birth, he was 7 lbs 4 oz and 19.25 inches, and now he's 7 lbs 12 oz, not sure of his length.

    How are you doing?
Feeling good. Hopeful that he'll come off the oxygen soon, but we don't see the pulmonologist until Aug. 20. We saw the developmental specialist yesterday, and she said he was doing great and had great muscle tone, which a lot of babies with Down syndrome struggle with.

    Anything else/questions:

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose?
    One place for 10 days.
  • Status (due date / birth date etc): Aug 14

Baby is the size of a.... / weight stats: wintermelon

How are you doing? Ready for baby.  I have to give myself blood thinner injections every 12 hours due to a blood clot issue before kids and it’s messing with me since I keep having BH thinking this is early labor (which means skip injection).  So far I’ve thought I was surely in early labor 4-5 times 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Anything else/questions:  got a pedicure and went for a walk this evening - hoping that’ll start something

GTKY: if you could go one place for 10 days or 10 places for one day each, what would you choose? One place ten days so I could relax a bit and thoroughly explore where I’m at
  • @wabash15 thank you for the advice. I definitely need to go back to the LC. She didn't say she has tongue or lip tie but she did say the latch is shallow. It doesn't hurt so she didn't change anything or say to use a shield. For whatever reason she's been more efficient in eating the last couple of days. Maybe my supply is better.

@hillaryo14. So glad to hear your special lo is gaining weight and doing well.

@-sunshine- @mama1824 @telda715 @jrm_14 @wabash15 @mrosek91 @MamaK225 so close for all of you. Hoping for quick, uncomplicated labor for everyone. Can't wait to hear your stories.
  • Status (due date/ birth date); August 20th

Baby is the size of a: Spaghetti squash

How are you doing?: Loaded question. My job is working me to death since I being my maternity leave the week after next, we are currently having a garage built at our house and I have definitely been having contractions just nothing regular and I was told this morning at work that "if you can walk you can work"

Anything else/ questions: anyone have any solutions for insomnia in the third trimester? My OB told me if I cant sleep to do light housework but I would be up all night.

GTKY: if you could go one place for ten places or ten places for one day, what would you choose? I would choose one place for ten days and I would try to sleep for the entirety for that 10 days.
