Anatomy Scan was yesterday. They didn't get to see everything they wanted and needed, which is common, so I'll have to go to MFM for a better view but don't know when that will be. I'm really bummed and upset because they couldn't tell us the sex and we had cupcakes all made at home for our son to announce and now who knows when this next scan will be. The doctor at first told me to just get it done at my glucose test @ 24 weeks, is he insane? I've been waiting so long for this appt, not to mention they cancelled and rescheduled it on me last week as originally it was supposed to be Monday.
I'm starting to really dislike this office and I'm going to get the things in motion to transfer care. They only allot 30 mins for the AS at my office and at 30 mins on the DOT the tech hopped up and said let me go see what the doctor wants to do. At first we were worried she saw something wrong but she was only worried about time. 🙄**She said everything she did see looked good, which is great, but I can probably name all the things she actually got to see off the top of my head.
@ABabyMarshall that is super frustrating that they cut you out at 30 minutes and couldn't tell you the sex either! I hope you are able to find another doctor soon/get in to your MFM for the rest of the shots. In the meantime, maybe you can do an elective u/s for the sex?
@ABabyMarshall how frustrating the way the cut the AS so short. I've always heard most places alot an hour for that so they can do their best to see everything that day as long as baby cooperates! I'm sorry you didnt find out the sex either, I would be so bummed too!
As for the Glucose test, 24 weeks is standard. That's when I took it last pregnancy.
@creamcheeseplease thanks! Doc mentioned elective US too but I don't know how that jives with ins or if it will be out of pocket. MFM will call me for appt today hopefully and we'll see when that will be 🤞
@gumby22c 30 mins is such a short amount of time considering how much they need to look at but they apparently have a strict policy on the timing-- I wonder what they are billing my insurance for it?UGH. As for the glucose, I know 24 weeks is normal timing for that but he thought that I would be chill with waiting another 3-4 weeks to give the scan another try at the appt along with glucose testing. NOPE lol
@ABabyMarshall I’m so sorry they cut you short. That is very frustrating. If you are serious about switching providers you should do that now because most providers won’t take you when you are so far along.
@ABabyMarshall we did an elective US at 14 weeks cause the in laws were making me crazy wanting to know gender and I didnt want to do the Natera. It was out of pocket, but was only like $150 where I'm at. Not sure if that's a fairly standard price, or if they vary wildly based on where you're at.
I would totally call the doctors office and ask them to get you in next week to finish the scan. But if you can get in with MFM quickly they do better scans anyway so you would be better off going through them most likely. How effing annoying and what a disappointment!
I got my appt with MFM for next Thursday. I'm alittle annoyed the closest one is nearly 2 hours away so that's going to be a long afternoon and I need to find a sitter for DS.
Also I got a letter from my OB giving me my referral and the info on my MFM appt. The referral mentions the reasons as IVF (didnt have to do this last time despite my pregnancy also being from IVF), cord recheck (already knew this), and echogenic bowel (didnt know this). The doctor didnt say a thing about an echogenic bowel when we went over my AS results, just the cord stuff. I fell down the rabbit hole of Google this afternoon and now I'm full of nerves about my MFM appt next week.
@gumby22c can you call your OB to ask about it? Maybe it was one of those things where if they werent already referring you they wouldnt be very concerned but since they are already referring might as well check it out? From people I know who have had those I think they are often scan anomalies and it resolves by the next scan in the 30 week range. Hopw you get some answers super quick.
@purplefan1 I may call her if my nerves dont settle before my appt. You're right though, they may just be having the MFM check since I'm already going for the cord insertion check if it's something borderline they noticed.
@gumby22c hope it's nothing! Strange the doctor wouldn't mention it though when going over initial results. Try not to stress it too much as I've heard the same that they often clear up, if it even is an issue.
@gumby22c not sure how similar but one of our twins had an echogenic focus on his heart that did resolve itself. It was definitely a worry for us for awhile. And google did not help! Hopefully it is not an issue for you either!
@rae605 thank you! That is reassuring to hear, and I'm so glad it's no longer an issue for your baby! I'm feeling more at peace about everything right now and just ready to find out more at my appt Thursday.
Had my level 2 ultrasound today to get the images they couldn’t see on the first Anatomy scan. Everything was seen and OK *sigh*
I had to giggle when I saw his foot though. See that massive gap between his big toe and his other toes? My husband and DD1’s toes are exactly like that! My mom panicked when DD1 was born because the gap was so big she thought she was missing a toe... 🤣🤣🤣
MFM update: the echogenic stuff with her bowels has cleared up, so that's good news!
I do have a velamentous cord insertion, which is what I was really hoping it wasnt. I still have a chance at a vaginal delivery as long as I dont end up with vasa previa (cord covering the cervix towards the end). But it can lead to IUGR, so I'll be monitored by both OB and MFM to watch for that.
@gumby22c I’m glad they will be monitoring you closely. I’m sorry you are dealing with that. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and you won’t need an early induction.

Thanks for letting me rant!

@creamcheeseplease @gumby22c @BNBT @emeraldcity1214 @angieeeeee @purplefan1 Thank you all for commiserating with me. They made me an appt for July 26th with MFM so another long wait but hopefully worth it.
