Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow with my midwife and then we'll be scheduling out the rest
How are you feeling?: Heartburn is starting to kick in at night. Last night I had some lower pain and ended up needing to hand over making dinner to my husband and neighbor. I felt a little defeated, but they were both super understanding. I'm also trying hard not to worry about the placenta previa until after I meet with my midwife. I know there is a good chance it will move out of the way especially considering that it is anterior but of course now my mind is going into overload with questioning everything my body is doing.
Rants/Raves: So at my 10 week appointment my midwife adjusted my thyroid dosage and said I would need my levels re-checked. Before my last appointment I saw that there was a blood draw order in my chart so I called the clinic to see if I needed to do that and I would go to the appointment early to have it done, the nurse insisted that I didn't and didn't know why it was in my chart so I didn't question it anymore. Well, this last week I go to refill my prescription and the pharmacy couldn't refill it and put in an order for it. I get a message from the nurse at the clinic saying that I never got my blood draw done and they can't refill until I've done so! That was last Wednesday... Thursday morning I go and get my blood drawn and I still haven't gotten the results and my prescription still hasn't been sent in. I have enough medicine left because I have an old dosage where the pharmacist said I can take 1.5 pills so I'm not worried running out, but I'm frustrated with the nurse. I miss the nurse we had last pregnancy!
Rave: We have a (first) name list narrowed down! We wont actually name baby boy until after he's born because we want to see him first, but we have our short list!
Questions: none
GTKY: Do you have any pets? (feel free to share pictures!) We have a cat named Jefferey and he's a giant ass.
Upcoming Appointments: 7/25 for anatomy scan and routine visit
How are you feeling?: I did a prenatal yoga class Sunday morning and I feel sore - which feels kind of pathetic.
Rants/Raves: rant: the heat. Holy hell, heat index of 110 all weekend. Rave: crib and glider should be here this weekend, we’re going to try and get the nursery painted in the next two days since it’s finally calling for rain and outside projects will take a pause.
Questions: thoughts on childbirth classes? What kind? When to take?
GTKY: Do you have any pets? (feel free to share pictures!) yes, they are my first babies. We have two Hungarian Pulis (the dogs with dreadlocks). One is AKC/purebred, and the other a pint sized rescue. We also have a rescue Maine Coon mix cat.
Pippa, the rescue puli.
Sully, my first baby.
Molly Weasley, the cat who acts like a dog and has the best fluffiest tail ever.

Baby is the size of a(n): artichoke
Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan and midwife appointments July 30th
How are you feeling?: Tired. I have (what I assume is) post-nasal drip that's causing a near-constant cough, especially at night. The coughing is triggering morning sickness if I'm already borderline, and in the evenings, regardless of how empty my bladder is, it's making me leak! God forbid I cough and puke in the evening, even with Poise pads I often end up having to change my pants/pyjamas Acid reflux isn't helping any of these issues. Oh and a few nights ago after puking 6 times I discovered I had a nose bleed as well!
Rants/Raves: Rant: ^^^ all of the above Rave: I finished watching all of the German show "Dark" on Netflix. It's SOOOOOOOO good. Has anyone else seen it? It's kinda like Twin Peaks meets Donnie Darko.
Questions: N/A
GTKY: Do you have any pets? (feel free to share pictures!) We have 2 cats, Pegasus (right) and Galactica (left). They are sisters!
@anniemarie887 it kind of depends what kind of birth you want to have. I took a 3-part class with a doula that talked about all the options for birth plans/coping mechanisms for natural birth, but that would be useless for someone who knows they want an epidural. I don't really think there's such a thing as going too early (well, maybe if you weren't actually pregnant yet...) I highly suggest taking some kind of class about breastfeeding though if that's what you're planning, because it's not always so straightforward.
@anniemarie887 I did a prenatal yoga class last week and I felt ridiculous, I could hardly move and I'm pretty sure it looked like I was just sitting there the entire time, but it hurt! LOL
See what classes your hospital offers. Ours offers a weekend course or a series, we did the series last time and really liked it. There's so many different types of classes so you want to find the style that you're most comfortable with. I personally am not a person for Hypnobirthing (our class covered part of that) mainly because I couldn't get on board with some of the affirmations and meditations they gave us. You should also be able to see when classes are offered through your hospital. We were "late" compared to the rest of our group because of how timing worked out when classes where offered and our last class was the day before my due date. Most others in the class were due 2 months later.
Baby is the size of a(n): IDK! IDC! All I know is I can feel their kicks and I'm obsessed.
Upcoming Appointments: Next Tuesday for routine checkup, then August 6th for anatomy scan! So nervous but so insanely excited to see our babe again!
How are you feeling?: Feeling normal!
Rants/Raves: None at the moment. Other than the road trip from Chi --> Pgh and back while pregnant (in a tiny car might I add) WAS AAWFULLLL!!!! Getting new carpet in our upstairs + nursery this week so that is exciting I guess? lol. But we did get all our 4moms gear from my SIL so its exciting to be opening all that up and setting it up! I can give you all my honest review, #NotSponsored.
Questions: How many classes are you moms taking for better your education on birthing etc? My hospital offers a ton! We scheduled a breastfeeding course, a daddy bootcamp for my husband (he's seriously clueless but so interested to learn more), and then a regular hospital tour, I think I still need to schedule a labor/delivery course and possibly the understanding your newborn class. It seems excessive maybe, but if they offer it so why not?
Anyone else A- blood type? My doc mentioned I'd have to get the shot at 28 weeks and then for second baby it could possibly cause issues if my husband is different type as well. Kind of surprised me.
GTKY: I do not have pets. I originally thought I wanted a puppy this winter bc I was lonely, but now that a baby is on the way I could care-LESS about having a pet! Husband is allergic to cats and I personally can't Stand them lol.
@ktmaesim your hosp sounds similar to ours with the classes, and I'm feeling the same... like do we take them all? is this silly or too much?! my husband wants to get this crazy wilderness first aid and emergency cert - and i was like wait i thought we were just gonna do baby cpr?! he's not a doomsday guy, he's just a big mountain biker and snowboarder and thinks it would be useful - whereas i'm like no thanks ya'll. haha and yes, bob marley mop doggies. they are not for the faint of heart, a lot of work.
@anniemarie887 I think we will take the other two we are debating on...main reason being is because our nurses on staff actually teach the classes that are offered, and they seem SO knowledgeable. They really impress me at each appt. I swear they know/say more info to us than the doc lol.
@ktmaesim it is subtitles, or you could turn on the English audio that they dubbed. The lipsync won't match, but if that doesn't bother you the acting is actually really good.
yes! @CapricaAndrea Kom's are their bigger Hungarian counterpart. they actually are both still working breeds in Hungry, Komondors guard and Pulik herd. My black one is about 43lbs and the white one about 23lbs - Koms easily get 100lbs+ which is a little too big for my personal pet. and now ya'll got some useless canine trivia from a very dog obsessed human.
@anniemarie887 I love you kitty! I used to have a Maine coone mix too and he was the softest fluffiest cat. I have no advice for birth classes, I was sick and missed the first two when I signed up, so I didn’t bother going. My only advice to new moms is to not skip reading up on csections too. I did because I never thought I would have one (my little stinker turned breech at 38.5 weeks). I was caught off guard by so much.
@capricaandrea I am sorry for the previa, I never had it, but my best friend did with both her pregnancies. I hope you can get your mind off of it and stop worrying.

Well, he has a vet appointment in 1.5 hours and I cannot find him , and I still have to take my kids to my parents house. Baby wise, I am freaking out a bit over the nursery. Rants - Our power has been out since Saturday at 5am. The estimated restoration time is 11pm tomorrow night. We had a lot of tree damage at our house, including one that caused a down powerline that is now fixed. I had to get a hotel room for yesterday and today.

GTKY: Do you have any pets? (feel free to share pictures!)
Yes! We have two cats. A domestic long hair who is black named Binx and a grey tabby cat named Piper. We have a rescue red tick dog who is about 7 years old we think named Buckwheat. And two blue heeler/border collie mix puppies about 5/6 months old named Maze and Pongo.
@anniemarie887 we took every class our hospital offered. DH was anxious lol. So we took a birthing class that covered a tour, natural birth, medicated birth, all that jazz. A breastfeeding class. Then a baby behavior class.

How are you feeling?: Physically feeling pretty good! I'm still wearing my wedding set, which is always a good sign. My DDs have had a stomach virus; I really hope I don't get it, too.
Rants/Raves: Had my anatomy scan yesterday (posted in the related thread here). The tech wasn't able to get a good pic of the outflow tracts of the heart (aorta, vena cava, etc.). Doc said that about 25% of the time they can see either those or the facial markers for cleft palette, and have to do another u/s at the next visit. He said he wasn't worried, but I am a little worried! Everything else looked great, and we confirmed that she's definitely a girl!
Questions:
GTKY: Do you have any pets? (feel free to share pictures!) We have the cutest black pug named Weasley. He's definitely related to Fred and George based on his behavior.
@janiep81 my OB is notorious for wanting an additional scan after the anatomy scan for better shots. The ultrasound techs tease her about it. She sends close to 50% of her patients back, and rarely is there actually anything wrong. I'm sure it's all fine with your little one and that means you get to see the baby again!
@janiep81 I have to go back in too for a couple of reasons (placenta previa, my ovary, and the babies heart). She said that before 20 weeks it's sometimes hard to get a good picture of the heart and that it's nothing to worry about but the hardest thing to get clear photos of this early because of where it is deleopmentally.
@ktmaesim Can I say let's both jump on the HP bandwagon?? My pets aren't named after HP, but I've loved the books my whole life! We went to Harry Potter World on our honeymoon, and I literally cried I was so excited to be there lol. More than once. ><
Baby is the size of a(n): a postcard - though hopefully not as flat. 😂
Upcoming Appointments: Just had my post-surgery checkup with my OB today and got a surprise anatomy scan too. Checkup with my surgeon on 7/31.
How are you feeling?: I feel GREAT! The surgery to remove my cyst went incredibly well. They had seen two on the US but there ended up being four taken out! Both ovaries still totally in tact. Recovery has been ok. A little more painful than I expected, but it’s been pretty quick progress. Just one of my four incisions still hurts a fair amount and the surgeon warned me that that one was a deeper cut. Best of all - the baby is 100% doing amazing. I was able to get in for a full anatomy scan today by chance and saw my little guy in tons of detail. He’s measuring just perfect in everything and I totally cried about it. I really appreciated all of the wishes of support from you ladies - it meant a lot!
Rants/Raves: Tiny rant - the US tech today got so in the zone while taking pictures she kind cranked down pretty hard on my one really sensitive incision. She felt super bad about it, but it’s definitely more sore now than before. Oh well! Rave - I LOVED both my surgeon and my anesthesiologist. They were so skilled and had great bedside manner. I also loved that the two people in charge of the whole show (including several residents/interns) were two pretty young and badass women. While I didn’t want to have to do it, the experience was about as good as it could have been.
Questions: None! I’m really looking forward to some uneventful pregnancy weeks!
GTKY: Do you have any pets? (feel free to share pictures! I have one little rescue pup - Artie. He’s a real cuddled!
I'm adoring all the Harry Potter fan posts as well as the cute animals picks. I keep joking (kinda) to my husband that "what is the point of having a Harry Potter closet if we can't even put our baby's crib in there." Unfortunately it is too small to fit 😔
However, in all honesty, I will probably end up putting a toddler mattress in there at some point. We have a 4 bedroom house but all bedrooms but ours are on the top floor. I won't feel comfortable giving her a bedroom until she is old enough to go up and down the stairs alone without me worrying about her falling.
In the meantime, her crib goes in the living room and bassinet will be in out room.
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out (doing a gender reveal on 8/17) 😬😁
Baby is the size of a(n): Artichoke
Upcoming Appointments: 8/6 for my 20 week OB visit
How are you feeling?: overall not bad! Since the beginning of the second trimester, I’ve had bad reflux and sciatica. But since starting Zantac once a day and stretching my legs/back at bedtime, both problems have gotten much better.
Rants/Raves: Starting to get annoyed with people wanting to know the gender RIGHT NOW. I mailed the ultrasound image/result to one of my best friends and she is the one throwing us a gender reveal party on the 17th. She’s the only person who knows the gender, and I want to keep it that way to minimize the chances of it slipping out. Since mailing her the results, I’ve had a few people say they would just text her themselves to find out 🙄 I know she won’t give in but why can’t people just chill and find out at the party we’re having. Do they not think my husband and I are anxious to know too?! Lol ugh, but what can ya do.
Questions:
GTKY: Do you have any pets? (feel free to share pictures!) yes! We have an 8 year old beagle. He’s pretty clingy and protective anyways so it’s been hard to tell is he’s changed since I’ve gotten pregnant. I know he won’t like sharing my lap with baby, but I think he’ll end up adjusting pretty well!
