Jealous of the ladies crushing Stranger Things! We need to start! Also @bookworm492 that sounds amazing! We are back to pushing 90* every day after dumping 5+ inches of rain in about 36 hrs.
@bookworm492 that's awesome! I'm loving this Chicago weather, too. I'm definitely a stay-in-the-air-conditioning-and-dont-exert-myself kind of person when it gets anywhere near 90, so I'm trying to take advantage by getting outside and walking a lot while I can.
Unfun random- DD is sick (happy summer break) which might interfere with us going to a friend’s cabin this week. She’s bummed, but DH is helping to take good care of her with me. Trying to avoid getting whatever she has!! 😛😬
I'm going to try and bike to/ from work as long as I can, weather and bump size permitting. Right now my pregnancy is really pretty internal, and given I'm nearly 18 wks I'm kind of expecting that I'll end up without much bump popping out, so as long as I'm comfortable on the bike I'll keep riding. I'm avoiding very busy streets, sticking to side roads and the 606 trail.
Today's random: I correspond with a lot of people via email for my job. I've also been married for over 2 years. My sig line in my email has my married name--has been that way since we got back from our honeymoon. Today, one person I've been in touch with just now realized my sig name is no longer my maiden name...and in an email to me, congratulated me on my marriage and wished my husband and I all the happiness in the world. I was so caught off guard, and she was so genuine and sweet about it, I honestly didn't have the heart to tell her it was 2 years too late and we now have a baby on the way.
She's going to think we're moving super fast when she finds out I'm pregnant. That, or I'll get a congratulations note on my newborn in 2 years. 😄
Is anyone planning on doing maternity pics? I feel like they can be really tasteful OR just freak me out... lol am I making sense without sounding rude? I'm undecided right now
@ktmaesim People get SO awkward with their maternity photos. My favorites are the mom in a shear robe with matching underwear and her bare belly exposed 😂 I agree though, they can be really tasteful as well.
@ktmaesim we did maternity pics but mostly because my husband is a photographer so we did them ourselves for free. I probably will do a few this time and try and incorporate DD in them. But yes definitely no bare belly, awkward pics here! 😂
@ktmaesim I'm thinking I'd like to get some done, as we never got engagement photos done (my compromise??). I am super wary of them, too, as only a select few "styles" appeal to me.
We live in a very snowy area, so I'm liking the idea of wearing bright colors in the snow in a woodsy area near our house. (I miss being in the mountains of Colorado--you always had a gorgeous backdrop!!).
Something along these lines, though I doubt I'd wear a flower crown, lol. I was that extra on my wedding, but probably not for maternity photos.
Also, I am 16w1d, and went to eat raspberries, my favorite fruit, yesterday. They tasted SO FREAKING OVERWHELMING. Not bad--just, really really intense, to the point where I can't eat them. I asked my husband if they tasted sour to him, but he said they're some of the best raspberries we've had in a long time. I haven't had any food aversions/big changes in taste yet, so that was kind of a shocker, lol. Anyone else experience anything similar?
@k_mama91 LOL...this girl from HS literally posed in middle of winter (I'm talkin' January), a short TIGHT blue dress, and a flower crown????? Then I know another couple who had them done in their home and they looked sOOOOO good and candid they looked like models...ugh.
@ninrms the flower crown makes sense for a wedding or if it was more spring or summer themed. I didn't see your comments until I posted my last one - so that was funny timing. I have def had sour tastes while eating some fruits too!!
@ktmaesim I don't get the flower crown while pregnant thing!! I mean, actually, if I'm being honest, I fully support a woman taking whatever kind of pictures make her feel beautiful, but the crown isn't for me. My state is too cold for anything skimpy, lol, but I do love the idea of being out in the snow. That middle pic I posted is my favorite...how cute with the mittens!!
@bookworm492 Oh man, ours will be thrifty. Like, a sibling or close friend just taking some shots.
@ktmaesim We might be doing a maternity shoot, but it's dependent. A friend of mine is a professional photographer, and she actually did our engagement photos as a wedding gift to us and they turned out BEAUTIFULLY. We'd love her to do our maternity photos, but she literally just a couple weeks ago gave birth to her third child, and I know she's cutting back on her business to bit, so it kind of depends on how she's feeling, and also how much she's charging--she gave the engagement photos to us for free, but we don't want to take advantage of her and ask her to give maternity photos for free on top of it. So, if the stars align, they're reasonably priced, and she's up for doing a photo shoot with us in a couple months, we'll be all about it. Otherwise, I have a super nice Nikon, my husband's taken a couple photography classes, so we'll just have amateur hour one of these days, haha.
@ktmaesim we did book a maternity shoot - we pick a different state every year for our anniversary and take a trip, so this year we are combining year 7 in New Mexico (holy hannah, time flies) and a baby moon. We try and do entire family professional photos every couple of years, so it just is kind of makes sense. I will add, we will be fully clothed (haha) and I'm not like getting in a stream or a bathtub or anything. I'm envisioning similar to our engagement photos, just with a big ole belly. We have yet to announce baby on any kind of social media, not sure if we will share photos. My .02 on the bare belly/bathtub stuff is kinda like go for it, but maybe not post all over social media? I dunno, I'm not a prude... and I gifted my husband photos of me after we got married... but they are not for public consumption and live in an album in our home if ya know what I mean.
@anniemarie887 couldn’t agree more—not trying to sound judgey either but they might be more for private not for social media ! I also know a couple who posted their entire home birth album on Facebook.
I am not all about the milk bath maternity shoots or the half naked ones.
I did have maternity pics with both of my other boys and I cherish those both so much, especially my second pregnancy with DS1 in them. I will have them again with DS3 and cannot wait to have the pictures with our boys... I have also worn the same dress in both sets of pics and will do the same for this one, but give it its on style.
@ktmaesim we're going to do a maternity shoot, but only because we have a friend that is a photographer and she's amazing. She will also be doing new born photos once the baby is born.
@ninrms I love the idea of snowy photos! I'm trying to figure out when will be the best time to have them done so there's not too much snow, but enough for a good background (we live in the mountains in Utah).
Would anyone be interested in like a prime day/monthly baby items super sale post? I have seen a couple so far and I will be likely stocking up on diapers/wipes during prime day, just wasn't sure if anyone was interested in that.
Heyyyyy 👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽 guilty of the maternity shoot with the sheer, belly baring dress with matching undies AND the flower crown! 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ (We also did some “normal” photos) LOL....
@triwellnessgirl I said go for it - just not plastered all over social media. But I’m just weird about loads of posting/oversharing in general. We keep having ppl ask us when we’re “announcing“ the baby. And I’m like maybe never?! 🤷🏻♀️
@anniemarie887 Haha, yeah people don't like to mind their own business and feel like they need to be in the know. We are team green for the 2nd time and so many people ask us why we wouldn't want to know, as well as if we really do know and just don’t want to tell anyone. WHO CARES?????
As for the maternity pic comments, I thought they were hilarious and quickly realized that I did just about all the stuff that most hate. So I had to share the pic. Just had to, LOL!
@anniemarie887 and @triwellnessgirl I'm also team green for the second time and people keep asking when we are finding out so I tell them my due date and they get all confused. MH has told everyone that in a world of instant gratification that waiting to know the sex of our child doesn't matter because it's not like we can change it or love it any less because of what's between it's legs lol We also only "announced" when I was pregnant with DS because I was in a wedding, visibly pregnant, so I wanted to tell the "world" before her wedding pictures did. We never put on social media when he was born, pictures that have his face, or make birthday post for him. We are just super private.
A couple weeks ago DH and I were on a river walk and stumbled across a very pregnant woman in a lace robe, belly exposed, matching bra and panties (possibly a flower crown?) They were taking her pretty naked maternity photos in the middle of a busy trail! It was pretty hilarious.
We'll probably take some photos of some kind - we have a friend who did engagement shots so probably something low key with her.
Alright ladies...possibly a controversial post but have any of you considered, or even already had an alcoholic beverage this pregnancy or planning on having one here and there? I was just lurking on my friend's Feb Month Club and there was a little disagreement between two ladies on there and it made me wonder what everyone thinks here. I am going to be a solid NO. Why would I even "need" alcohol is beyond me, but figured it'd be interesting to see and know everyone's standpoints in our group here.

@anniemarie887 also in the maybe never club!
