  • Do most of you use the website on your phone or the app to chat on this board?

  • @elmann1 sorry to hear that! :( hugs across the internet

@jvk2012 I use the mobile app... Are there big differences with using the website?
  • @clearlyclara The website is nice for being able to navigate and you get to see if you have notifications and messages. It's also good for creeping on post history lol.

  • @elmann1 I’m so sorry for your loss. When you’re ready to try again there is a wonderful group of ladies on here in the TTCAL group. You should check that out if/when you’re ready, they are incredibly supportive!
  • Anyone interested in a nutrition thread or are we all in survival mode? I read a Bradley Method book from the library this week and they're all about protein being 70-100g daily. Anyone doing Bradley Method? I'd love tips for achieving such high protein without blowing calories, especially while navigating MS... I think it's a good aspirational goal, and would be super interested in hearing from anyone actually achieving this.
  • @craftywitch Maybe if there was a nutrition thread I might be inclined to make better choices lol. But I am in survival mode with the MS right now.

  • @brookert615 Same- eating my fried chicken and sauce, but I'm *thinking* about improvements LOL
  • @craftywitch Bahahah I hear you on that! I'm eating a lot of fried chicken and sweet and sour sauce. CAN'T. GET. ENOUGH. I don't even want to know how much I've gained 🙄.

  • @craftywitch I'm doing Bradley Method (I did with my other pregnancies, too). I took an in-home course with my first, but don't remember much about nutrition. It's been 6+ years though. I'm also still in survival mode, but might chime in here and there. I'm definitely a little better about what I eat after first tri.
  • I signed up for "Baby Blueprints" with my insurance and a health coach is supposed to call me today. Maybe she can help steer me in the right direction  :D.

  • I’d be interested in doing more with nutrition when my ms goes away.  I can barely eat meat right now.
  • So, I have been a stay at home and last year decided to work a couple days a week at a preschool. I work in a classroom and it is really frowned upon to quit mid year because kids need consistency and changes take away from their learning experience. We are out for summer break right now, but before break started I signed a commitment letter to come back next year. That was prior to becoming pregnant. Now I’m unsure what to do. I know that once the baby is born that I won’t want to go back at least that year- maybe even the following year. I also don’t want to share the news until after the first trimester because *TW* I lost a previous pregnancy at 11 weeks and am painfully away of having to tell multiple people that I’ve lost the pregnancy *end TW* but not sharing until the end of the first trimester puts me right at the beginning of the school year. Any advice as to whether I should share the pregnancy with my boss and see what she thinks? I really enjoy the job so I don’t want to ruffle any feathers.
  • @doodleoodle, I am a teacher too so I say this with complete understanding...the kids will be fine.  Is it ideal for you to leave mid-year? No.  Could it happen because you are pregnant or a million other unpredictable life events? Yes.  I had my daughter in June when I was a 3rd grade teacher so I only missed 2 weeks of the end of the school year.  However, I took 12 weeks off for the beginning of the next school year and felt guilty about it at first.  I then realized that I waited a long time for this chance to have a family, those children's parents obviously took some time off from a job when they had those kids, and 12 weeks in the grand scheme of a child's education is probably not a big deal.  Now I am due in February and will be an interventionist so I don't have my own classroom but all the students that I provide services to in the school will be impacted (depending on how they fill my leave position) and I have some guilt around that but it is what it is.

Do what feels right to you as far as who you tell and when.  I totally get not wanting to ruffle feathers but also remember this is your life and you get to take control of only so much.  Good luck!
  • @doodleoodle my child goes to a preschool with very low teacher turn over. We love it and he had the same teacher for 2 years. Last year, his teacher had to leave for financial/family reasons. We were all so sad to see her leave, but obviously she needed to. They had the teacher taking her place in the classroom for several weeks prior so that the kids would get to know her and see how she ran the day, etc. the kids didn’t skip a beat. So, if you want to work half a year, I’m sure it’s fine!
  • @jvk2012 this could be the hormones talking... but thank you so much for your kind words!! They made me feel empowered and comforted. I bet you’re a great teacher. Thank you, again ❤️
  • @doodleoodle, glad you found my thoughts helpful ❤️
  • Bah this app makes me crazy sometimes. It will randomly kick me out and not sign me back in to post.

But I'm curious... has anybody lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment when their baby is first born? I'm trying to rack by brain on how to make it work but we have such limited space. Our bedroom barely fits our king size bed with room to walk. If I had the resources to break our lease and move I would totally do it sooner rather than later. I've found quite a few nice 2 bedrooms outside the city in the same price range as our current place. Obviously a house would be more ideal but not in the carda for us atm.

@babyroma I slept in bed with my daughter when she was tiny. They don't take up a lot of room. I used this thing: https://www.target.com/p/baby-delight-snuggle-nest-harmony-gray-elefontes/-/A-76159098?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Baby_Priority%2BShopping&adgroup=Baby_Priority+TCINs&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=1014743&ds_rl=1241788&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1242884&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpPHoBRC3ARIsALfx-_IMMs8PuoC45rcTraBHjTT44hhSle1p0OLVpXflzJUJMQM3S4y8tAYaAt2REALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

You don't need a changing table, just a changing pad or a blanket and a little basket to keep the diapers. You don't need fancy swings, etc., that take up a lot of space. You could put a pack n play in your living room if you aren't comfortable sleeping with baby.

    When is your lease up?

  • @brookert615 good luck today!  I am sure you are so excited to see your baby!
  • @babyroma I agree with @leksiL that babies that young don’t have to take up a lot of room if you plan it right. A pack n play for sleeping is about what you need (and those come with a changing table attachment if you want to put it on during the day). You could even move it out of your bedroom during the day if you need more room. I hardly use my changing table anymore, so any bed, rug, etc will work fine with a blanket. Some of the other gear like swings, bouncy seats, etc aren’t necessary and sometimes aren’t needed until the baby is a bit older.
