    Upcoming Appointments:
July 3rd for my 36 week normal check up appointment. I'm also scheduled for an ultrasound because he's measuring big. I'm secretly very excited to get an extra ultrasound- I was told I would only have two, my first one at eight weeks to verify the pregnancy and the 20 week anatomy scan- so I'm excited for one more.

    How are you feeling?:
Achey in the inner thighs/lower back- doctor says things are just loosening up but it feels like I do 100 squats/sit ups daily. Also a lot of nasal congestion that wakes me up at night :(

Rant: I have to go to a wedding this week.... it's a Thursday night for some reason? And it's 2 hours away in 100+ degree heat. I'm comfortable in my 80 degrees, thank you very much. If they weren't such good friends, we may have skipped this one.

    Questions:
    Nothing for now.

GTKY: Seen any good movies lately?
I'm excited to see the movie Yesterday that comes out this week- it's the one about a musician and The Beatles.
  • @nimo-ad I loved Us. What did you think? It tripped me out.

@newmamakt I'm wondering this too. I know when we get to the hospital for labor, I'm supposed to let them know my OB and my chosen pediatrician practice. The pediatrician on call from that practice will tend to baby afterwards, but do we make a follow up appointment at that time, I assume?

@hillaryo14 Chernobyl freaked me out in a good way.

@newmamakt You do not make an appointment at this time, since there is no way to know when the baby is going to show up. Pediatricians' offices generally keep a few slots open for new-borns for the first few appointments. (When my boys were born for the first 4 weeks the appointment options were first one in the morning, or first one after lunch, since those are the slots reserved for babies that age.)
How notification is handled depends on the pediatrician, mine doesn't care if you are planning on using them or not until the baby actually shows up. When you check in you tell the hospital which group you are using, and then their on-call doctor checks the baby once (s)he shows up. Then you start calling the office for appointments.
I've heard from other's that their pediatrician requires you to "pre-register" your baby, so that they are on an incoming patients list.
The best thing to do it call your pediatrician and find out what their process is.

@newmamakt I agree with @mrosek91 with my first they had an "open house" one night a week where we toured the facility with one of the doctors.  We filled out a paper letting them know we were due, and then used her name on all the forms for the hospital. Once out of the hospital we made an appt with the doctor for the first check up a few days after release.  For this one, I just let my daugthers doctor know I was pregnant and to expect a new patient sometime in August - she said OK sounds good! and that was that.

eta while in the hospital there was a pediatrician affiliated with the hospital (happened to save my daughters life, but that's a different story) who sees the newborns.

  • @flagchic I had sooo many questions after it was over, I spent over an hour on Google afterwards going down various conspiracy rabbit holes lol!
  • @moon1417 - thank you so much for keeping things going!!

Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    8/5 34 weeks

    Boy/Girl/finding out later?
    Girl

Baby is the size of a(n):
    pineapple

    Upcoming Appointments:
Next week - 7/2 - I’ve been a week off since missing an apt for vacation.  Will be doing and ultrasound since they told me last week that I was measuring small (erm, thanks for freaking me out and not doing anything about it for two weeks)

    How are you feeling?:
Hot/tried/rib pain - but at least random rash on chest is gone!

    Rants/Raves:
Rant: just found out sister-in-law is an anti-Vaxer - (my mother brought it up in the context of they are worried about what they are going to have to do about school since the new law was imposed in ny) I’m upset and embarrassed and have informed my mother that my child will not be meeting her cousin until she’s through all of her vaccinations... so like 12?  Ugh, I feel bad for my nephew.

    Questions:
Are there any markers for early labor (not signs but like - you may be susceptible to early labor if...)?  I’m still shocked that several? girls in our bump group have baby in hand, while I can’t wait to meet LO, we are soooo not ready (maybe my rant should have been about getting DH to focus on LO’s room - rather than everything else)...

GTKY: Seen any good movies lately?
Chernobyl was excellent - as was the new season of true detective... HBO is really kicking ass - except for that whole GoT thing
  • @becks68 Good for you for protecting your child from even family members. I imagine you might get some lashback from your relatives, but stick to your guns.

For everybody who has been into HBO lately, I super recommend Los Espookys. It's on HBO, it's a 25 minute show, and it's so funny! Heads up; it's all in Spanish and subtitled but it's a Lorne Michaels and Fred Armisen production. Who knew Fred Armisen spoke such great Spanish? It's lighthearted, quirky, weird and just fun. It's about a group of Latinx cousins/family members who take their horror hobby and make it a business. I highly recommend it!
  • @BigBadWolf12 glad your baby girl is doing well...wow 1 week already!
Will you be traveling back to Sweden at the same time you would have or staying with family for a while longer?
  • @nimo-ad we were supposed to go back a week tomorrow,  so definitely staying longer than that. Honestly we had been on the fence about when to move back to be close to family and had been praying for God to make it clear to us,  so we might even just wave the white surrender flag and stay here.  DH can go back and sell everything,  I'll stay here with the kids and family support.... and we'll take the kids to visit as soon as we can, realistically.  That's where my head is at right now,  but DH and I haven't made the final decision yet.  We'll definitely be here all of July if not longer, id expect. I can't imagine traveling back before her due date if we do all go back
