I had a great one! We celebrated H's first "expecting" father's day with a dinner date, some baby clothes shopping, and dessert at a local bakery. I got him these two shirts (fans of The Office will get the reference). They turned out so cute, and he is so excited to have a matching outfit with our baby girl!
It was a long weekend 😔 I'm happy it's Monday, all I need to do is laundry and work on arranging our bedroom thank goodness. I got SO travelling coffee mugs off Shutterfly with the kids pictures on them for Father's day. They're not as big as his coffee mug but he loved them anyway🥰
We drove home from the beach yesterday. And we were on a time crunch (DH had dinner plans with his family for Father’s Day) so we only made 2 quick stops. 10 hours in the car is pretty much torture when this pregnant! Now back to reality...
@melanier26 10 hours in a car?! Dang, girl. You need to get a massage or treat yo'self to something amazing.
I got my husband a book called The Baby Owner's Manual and he loved it. It's a lot like a car or computer manual, but for babies. (Example: Chapter three is titled "Feeding: Understanding the Baby's Power Supply.") Funny as well as informative!
I'm going back home to visit my mom this Wednesday and I am so ready for a break! Even though I'm gaining weight at a slightly alarming pace, I'm going to eat all of the things while I'm there. I cannot wait.
Also, I am obsessed with the new Taylor Swift music video for her song, "You Need to Calm Down."

My weekend was sooo busy and I am still so exhausted. We went to Sesame Place on Friday. DD had a blast but we were so exhausted we all pretty much passed out after we got home and settled. Saturday I had to rush all of my grocery shopping and laundry. Yesterday we spent the day in North Jersey for Fathers Day.
I'm ready a nap. I have a busy day today at work and have to leave early for my OB appt, the only silver lining.
I still don’t have a yard.. the town is requiring that it be done by June 30th. Our builder keeps blaming the rain as to why it’s down to the last two weeks they have. Guess what? After today, it’s supposed to rain every damn day for the next 10 days. It’s monsoon season. You’d think this builder, who claims to have been in the field for 20 something years, would know this by now
@cass005 How was Sesame Place? It's on my list, as it's not too far and I think the boys would love it. And I feel like it's way more manageable than Disney at this point.
Weekend was great, but I am pretty happy to be quietly sitting at work right now. Father's Day was nice, though hectic. My H LOVED the socks with the boy's faces on them. We did a lot on Sunday and actually by the end of the day I was really spent--exhausted and so much lower back pain. As a result of me going to bed early and not prepping for the week, this morning was rough!
@melanier26, 10 hours in the car?! Girl, that is a long time in general, let alone when you are 6 months pregnant! I hope you are able to pamper yourself and relax a little today!
@elle-0409, that baby owner's manual sounds adorable and hilarious. I might have to get that for my H's birthday!
@cmbt2 sorry about DS. My DS has been a beast the past two weeks. It's not often I miss working out of the house but after two weeks of this it's hard to not want to just throw my hands up. What a headache with your builder I''m sorry he is such a POS! @elle-0409 Eat all the things and feel no guilt! @melanier26 UGH I hate long car trips not pregnant, I can't imagine them pregnant.
My weekend was good. I feel bad because I don't feel like I gave DH a great Fathers Day, even though he said it was good. I wasn't feeling great this weekend and he did a lot of taking care of DS and cooking. He did get and expansion to his new favorite game though so that helps.
I'm stressed out today though. I have so much to do to prepare for his family getting here Wednesday. For reference his sisters family has 4 kids. To so people it's no big deal, but for me having and extra 7 people, his mother will be here as well, staying in my house is stressful. I did put up a boundary though and told them 4 nights was the max I could handle them here. Usually I just let them stay as long as they want but I can't do it right now. My MIL will be here until July 1st though, which is okay, we get along well and shes really good at giving me space when I need it.
I've been absent lately because life has been chaos. The hubs got sick...then I got sick...then we were waiting for DS to get sick (he's still okay!). Then business has picked up so I've been balls deep in that. Then we were planning to go camping last weekend and getting prepped for that.
Camping was a success! My husband really enjoyed himself as well as DS. He loved that we had A/C (since we brought my parents RV), but still able to get out in the early morning and later evening when it wasn't so bad.
We also enrolled DS back into daycare. I quit my job last summer to be a SAHM (and home school) and then picked up a part time job. DS just came with me the 2 days a week. Then I picked up another part time job in October...and then another in February. So with 2 of the 3 jobs picking up substantially for the summer, DS was spending a lot of time alone and on a tablet. We also wanted him back on a routine and prepping to go to public school in August.
He was so excited to go back to "school" today. I'm hoping some of his old friends still attend so he fits right back in. I'm excited to get pick him up.
BUT for the first time in over a year....I'm childless and I have a 3 hour lunch break today. So I'm off to get a mani/pedi...maybe some shopping. Lords knows...I'll have so much time on my hands! haha

@junebabyh It was a blast. This was our 2nd time going (DD's school goes). We were there pretty much the entire day. The Magic Pass to skip the lines, is totally worth the price. The lines for anything are so freaking long. Also if you feel like throwing some money away check out the cabanas. We got the deluxe one and it was way overpriced, but it was great to have like a location to take a break so we could take turns taking DD on rides. Make sure you hit atleast one of the parades because it's a great way to see the characters. We managed to catch the last one at 7, we got to the end of the parade line around 6:50 and had a perfect shot at seeing everything.
You can bring water in, but I would either pack lunch or hit up a place cause they'll rob you there. Unless you get a cabana then food is included and like all the soda, juice and water you can drink. They also have personal character meet and greets if you get one. And it's not just a snap the photo and leave, we got Bert and Ernie and they hung around with the kids for a bit before leaving. They will take photos and give a slip but be warned they will charge you $30 to get the actual picture so just take your own lol.
@nachellebeck13 Glad you are feeling better and camping was great. Im dying to go camping! We don't have an RV or trailer though...just tents.
As much as I’d love to put my feet up after the uncomfortable car ride yesterday, I’ve been busy unpacking, doing laundry and meal planning/grocery planning. And now I got to celebrate returning to reality by cleaning up the contents of DS’ training potty that he spilled. Poop and all. I don’t drink during pregnancy but a few sips of wine are sounding so good right now...

I feel like if you have to clean up poop then you definitely deserve a glass of wine.... especially after a 10 hour car ride. @melanier26 you’re a super hero today!!
@kindbytealikat Which game did you get the expansion for? I'm always interested in hearing what other people are playing!
@nachellebeck13 Why did you end up picking up part time jobs? I quit my job in March with the intent of being a SAHM (and the job just wasn't the right fit for me anymore), but I'm curious as to what entices people to go back to work. I'm working toward my residential real estate license - I've worked in commercial real estate for over 8 years and I have a bachelors in finance and real estate - so I know I'll work again one day (soon).
How many people have significant others who are stepping up their protectiveness? My husband worries about the car seat belt/air bags (both me and the OB have reassured him on this), makes notes on how much of something I can have (like tuna), moves me away from an area the second he smells cigarette smoke when we're out, and other little things. It doesn't bother me at all, and he absolutely isn't a nag, but it's an interesting shift I wasn't fully expecting from him!
At a work seminar until Wednesday. Seminar location is 2hrs via public transport from my home so I am staying in a hotel close by (seminar itself is held in a super deluxe 20 gazillion star hotel which my research institute is definitely NOT paying for).
Went to the aldi around the corner to buy gooseberries, raspberries, kinder chocolate, carrots and pineapple pieces and am now catching up on work while snacking on my semi-healthy dinner and watching home shopping TV on almost mute.
Father's day in Germany was end of May. Neither SO nor I are really big celebrators of MD or FD, but I got him this keychain with three pendants on it. I had the nicknames we picked for our kids the first time we saw them on ultrasound engraved on the pendants instead of their real names, (not only because of security reasons but simply because for baby we haven't chosen one yet). Spoiler is image pulled from etsy store.
We had a pretty full weekend with both ups and downs. Got a call from daycare Friday that DS hurt himself and needed to be picked up. He had fallen and hit his brow on the corner of a table. There was a big open gash and we had to take him to urgent care for stitches. That was tough for all of us, but he was such a brave little trooper through it all. Rest of the weekend was good. We went for a father's day hike and bought a chest freezer (excited for freezer meal planning and Costco trips!). DH also loved his custom socks with DS's face on them - those are clear winners.
@Cass005 I didn't even know Sesame Place existed. Sounds awesome!! I will need to look into it for future vacation ideas.
@meagan-t I think it's sweet your husband is taking an active role and interest in keeping you and baby safe. My DH is more of an adapter (I'm the planner) and he is more reactive with things like that. He kind of assumes I will take care of everything and fill him in on what I need him to know. It's kind of exhausting!
I've only had my youngest for the past 4 days and it's been a dream. I'm beginning to second guess this October thing, y'all. 😂
Lol. My two year old is the chillest toddler ever. I love it. I told DH the other day that, if we had waited until DS1 was 4 to have another, he’d be only child 🙈
Home after our big trip around Lake Ontario. Today, I let DS sleep in and stay home from daycare. We did the pool this morning and the zoo in the afternoon. Not exactly restful for me, but it was good for DS to get some one-on-one time with me. I'm pooped now, though, and don't want to clean the kitchen from yesterday's FD dinner. Probably should before DH gets home from work, though.
@nachellebeck13 Why did you end up picking up part time jobs? I quit my job in March with the intent of being a SAHM (and the job just wasn't the right fit for me anymore), but I'm curious as to what entices people to go back to work.
Sooo...About a week after I quit my job last year (working full time for my dad's biz) my chiropractor was looking for a front desk person. So on Mondays and Thursdays, we would help her with whatever she needed and we got free treatment. :P It was easy, brought in some extra play money, and a great way to pay for our treatment.
Then the slow season started setting in and TL;DR my dad's company de-merged (or whatever) from the company they had merged with in May '18 and they needed help...and we needed to stockpile cash. So I went back to work the other 3 days (from home) for my dad as a dispatcher and Accounts Payable/Receivable. My dad's biz is in the A/C industry...in Houston. We've been super busy now that it's stupid hot outside (understandably so), and I've been taking calls all the time.
THEN our Quickbooks lady (who's been a huge help!) reached out and said she was looking for someone with experience to help with her workload. This job is a "work as many hours as you can" kinda part time job. Some weeks I work like 10 hours and some weeks I don't work any hours. Just depends on what work she has available.
But all this to say, October through April are the dead months for my husband (he's the Ops Manager works on commission only for my dad's biz) and so I was just grasping at anything that would pay me. And now I'm socking away money for this Winter since we've got DD coming.
ETA: I'll be stepping away from the chiro job when DD arrives. I might do some behind the scenes work for her (social media, replying to text messages to patients, anything that can be done remotely) in exchange for chiro treatment for all 3 of us...but I won't have to come to the office. So I'll be down to 2 jobs when DD arrives.

Our daycare sends us an electronic report every day of what the kids do... today, DS2’s had a teacher note- “M pulled up DS2’s hair to put on sunscreen and keep him cool outside. Hope you don’t mind!” (Both my boys have shaggy longish hair). I was dying of laughter and wished they took a photo. They did one better- they left it in! He came home with it, and it was amazing.
@melanier26 my back hurts just thinking about a 10 hour car ride, and then to have a full day afterwards, including poop cleanup? You go girl, that's some good self motivation and definitely deserving of a treat! @kindbytealikat I kind of think you're crazy hosting that many family members, but good for you for giving them a stay limit. Best of luck! @nachellebeck13 sorry it's been such a hectic summer so far. You deserve that time to yourself, enjoy it thoroughly! @mrsinterweb I'm so glad your DS is ok, that's a scary situation. My toddler just started turning into a whirling dervish and I keep saying that I expect him to do pretty much the same thing in daycare one of these days (come home with a scary gash that is) .

Our weekend was somewhat uneventful. All SO wanted (wouldn't let me get him anything else) was time to work on the kitchen so his parents took DS the night before and I did my best to help out and clean up the house around him. In-laws came back in time for us to all have a nice dinner out at a restaurant that had recently changed hands and we really wanted to try. We were not disappointed. I was just sad I couldn't have more than a sip of beer (it's a brewhouse) so I'll definitely be making plans for return after October. The rest of the weekend has just been more of the same, cleaning and kitchen work, but everything is coming along nicely and having some extra time to play with DS has been special. SO came home early today due to us closing on a home equity loan for more reno work (I think SO is nesting more than me lately) and we got to spend a couple hours in the park all together.

@nachellebeck13 that sounds amazing!! I hope you had a great time! @grapeskittles4lyfe gooseberries are real?! I'm pretty sure I thought they were made up! Lol
Today was awful and awesome all at once... We had my son's 2 year post op CT and I was super nervous he wouldn't be able to sit still enough for it and he was going to need sedation. He was super scared at first, but they let me lie down and go in and out of the machine to show him it was okay and it worked!! He still sobbed when they swaddled him down, but the got the pictures!! He's a terrible sleeper and that combined with *TW infant death* the passing of a cranio community member possibly due to anesthesia *END TW* I was really hoping they wouldn't have to sedate him 💜 He also got the all clear from his surgeon and he is cleared for the next 3 years!!
However, we had to call 911 on the freeway on our way down because my husband was having some kind of anxiety attack that included feeling light headed and having tingly arms. He has a family history or heart attacks and has had some weird heartbeats in the past 18 months, so we were really freaked out... Thankfully all of his vitals looked good and he just needs to stay hydrated and follow up with his Dr. but he was still feeling off all day.
Somehow we still made it on time, which in Seattle traffic is some kind of miracle in itself, but we were stuck down there for 4 hours for appointments when we really wanted to get him home to rest definitely a day of ups and downs...
@nnaelilak what a rollercoaster of emotions!! I’m so glad your sons CT ended up going as well as it could, but how scary about your H and what a long day! Hopefully you guys got some rest in after all of that.
We had had a pretty good father’s Day! We went to brunch and then happened upon a parade that we had no idea was happening, so we stayed so that DD could see the parade and she loved it. Then H went out and did his own thing in the afternoon, so for him it was a good balance of family time and relax time!
It sounds like everyone’s husbands had a good Father’s Day! We are going to do a belated celebration for DH bc that was our travel day back from the beach. I also feel terrible bc I had a few ideas for gifts (from DS) but nothing too exciting. Then one day on vacation DH mentioned something that I thought would be an awesome gift but I didn’t have my phone on me so I couldn’t look it up...and now for the life of me I can’t remember what it was 🤦🏼♀️ Our plans for our belated celebration day are to go to a local place that has mini golf, go carts and an arcade bc he is a kid at heart
I'm feeling very grateful today that we chose to do the NIPT testing for this pregnancy. At my appointment yesterday, my doctor told me they found a choroid plexus cyst on baby girl's brain at the anatomy scan. Most of the time these cysts are nothing to worry about and disappear on their own by the third trimester, but sometimes they can indicate Trisomy 13 or 18. If I hadn't already done the testing, they would be more concerned and would be doing further testing. But since I already had the NIPT and was found to be low risk for any genetic abnormalities, they can safely conclude this is one of the "nothing to worry about" situations. I'm a little emotional about it and feeling so grateful we chose to do the testing earlier so we can avoid needless worrying. ❤❤❤
@cooaladolly I probably am crazy. I consider 4 days a win though. When they were here this fall they were here over a week both times. I love having them here it’s just so many people. We’ve seen them more the past year than we have the other 5 years of our marriage. It’s been good for DS. @nnaelilak Yay for your sons good test and report. I’m sorry about YH but glad he’s okay.
I kept DS home yesterday to treat him to a one-on-one day, and I was so tired and die by the end of it! He had a really thought drop at daycare today, but I expected that after having been gone for almost 2 weeks. I should be productive today, but it's gloomy out and I'm stilla but tired, so I might just take a day to be a lazy bum. DH is out of town until Thursday anyway, so no one is here to call me out on a little slacking.
