Re: PGAL 6/1

  • 1. How many weeks are you? 15 but will be 16 on Monday.

    2. Previous loss(es)? 14 week loss last December

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Honestly, I don't know how I feel. I have moments when I am thinking about everything and I get emotional. Other times I feel almost numb.

    4. Any appointment updates? My next appointment is June 12th for my AS. I'm excited for it. I will be going in early because I'm moving to AK a few days after that. I will technically be 17 weeks but he has been measuring a week ahead so that will put him at 18 weeks.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? My rave is seeing my daughter dance today. I kinda went overboard with her makeup this morning. I put eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, and lip gloss on her. She was beautiful and it was fun seeing her all excited to get all dolled up. DH wasn't too happy about it though. 😂 oh well! My rant is that I feel exhausted tonight. I plan to get the kids to bed early and then take a long hot bath with Epsom salt and maybe do a deep conditioning hair mask while I soak.

    6. Any milestones coming up? Monday is my due date for my loss. I plan to burn a candle and sit out her urn and just look at that and her memory book that I made. I also plan to just cry as much as I need to. I will likely let the kids watch a few movies and just cuddle on the couch with all of them.

GTKY: what are some things you do to pamper yourself?  I love massages. I actually plan to schedule one this week sometime. I also enjoy pedicures and manicures. When I go I like to get the hot wax and hot stone massages. At home, I soak in the tub and deep condition my hair. I have been doing the CGM for about 4 months now and it has really helped me get my waves under control and doing deep conditioning hair masks makes my hair happy. My hair used to be stick straight before my second pregnancy and then it just got curlier and curlier with each pregnancy after that.

  • @emeraldcity1214 take care of yourself momma. You are on my mind the next few days. Sending you and your family love as you pass this milestone. Our sweet ones are not here but not forgotten.
  • @emeraldcity1214 my thoughts are with you.  It’s always a tough time, but it sounds like you have the perfect plan to honor her and yourself.  Also, go book that massage!  I think it’s a great week to have some extra self care ❤️❤️
  • @rogro118 I may schedule a facial as well. 😊
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 14w 3d

    2. Previous loss(es)? 4

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?  I’ve been pretty emotional the past few days and can’t quite put my finger on why.  I can’t even describe it it’s happy or sad tears I’ve been crying.  We found out the gender this week and told my son, so I think that is certainly playing into it as we never made it to that point with my losses, it’s so incredibly bittersweet.  Physically I can’t complain, I’m feeling (and starting to look) pregnant!

    4. Any appointment updates? I had my first ob appt this week, and my AS is July 1st so I’ll be counting down the days.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? My son had been talking about baby sister and my heart is so happy he gets it.  He kisses her goodnight and keeps asking if he can hold her yet.

    6. Any milestones coming up? I had two of my losses last summer so I’m trying to Ben positive the next few months.  Honestly I try to ignore the dates sometimes, but it’s always in the back of my head.  We’ve talked about planting a tree or something in our yard, so I think it’s be the perfect time to actually do it.

GTKY: what are some things you do to pamper yourself? I’m all for facials and massages.  I got them routinely with my son, but life was less busy then, so I haven’t made it to the spa yet.  A new place that specializes in prenatal and post natal massage opened near me and I’d love to try one.  They even have special tables with holes in them for your belly!  Other than that, I take baths a lot.
  • @rogro118 You waited a really long time for your first appointment. I would have gone insane. I am with you on the tears. Sometimes mine are happy and sometimes mine are sad. Then sometimes I just feel numb. It's fun watching your other children get excited for the new baby. I think that helps a lot to prepare them for when baby is finally here.

We lucked out with a spa in our gym so I can take the kids and leave them in the daycare while I go to the spa. It's amazing. I think the gym we plan to join in Alaska has a spa too. I will definitely be taking advantage of that.

@emeraldcity1214 both gyms sound amazing, I could totally get down with childcare annnnd spa services!

I was at my IVF clinic about to start another cycle when I got pregnant, so they did see me for betas and two ultrasounds, and then I had an ultrasound at my ob at 8w4d because I didn’t feel right, and then the NT scan at MFM two weeks ago, so I have been in, just not to my regular ob.  Otherwise I for sure would have gone crazy!!  My clinic does an “intake” appt with a nurse at 9 weeks where they just go over history, then schedules the NT scan and your first exam with doctor or midwife for 12/13 weeks.  I hate how they do it, but at least I had the earlier scans to hold me over this time!
  • @rogro118 I'm glad you had those other appointments. PGAL brain is hard enough without the anxiety of waiting that long to be seen.
  • I already feel like it has been forever since my last appointment and will be forever until my next. Even though my last doppler wasnt even a week ago. Thankful though that once this next clump of weeks passes that i will be at the next scan and over 18 weeks. Starting to count towards 24 weeks for that sweet sweet viability.

I had a lot of dreams last night about the genetic screening we did. Trying not to angst about it but also dont know how long it will take to get results and so nervous about that call.  :-(
  • @purplefan1 are you still waiting for your NIPT results? That was the longest wait ever for me! I hope they get your results back soon.
  • I just got it done this past Tuesday so it hasnt even been a week yet. Ive been reading that a lot of places can take 7-10 business days. Just hoping my doctors office will call as soon as they get them.
  • @purplefan1 do you know what test they use?  I got the QNatal and it was 9days including Memorial Day weekend, but the office said they typically have it in 7 days.  Hoping you get a call by Wednesday!
  • @rogro118 mine uses NxGen
  • I found out last night that laying on my stomach while on the couch helps me catch some movement. Baby didn't seem happy in that position! Still just wanting desperately to feel consistent movement. Hoping in the next 2-3 weeks Ill have more reassurance!
  • @purplefan1 I was standing in my kitchen the other night and it felt like little bubbles  popping. Such a crazy feeling. I went several days with no movement and the last 2 or so I have felt something each day. I'm also ready for them to get stronger and more pronounced.

    2. Previous loss(es)? 25 weeks and 7 weeks

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?

Physically fine. Emotionally just done and it’s not even the halfway mark 🤦‍♀️

    4. Any appointment updates?
I had a sucky appointment last week. Dr couldn’t find the HB with the Doppler so I got an ultrasound and everything was fine, but just those 5 minutes waiting to know, I can’t stop playing it over and over again. I haven’t bought anything for this baby yet and moments like that are why. I have no confidence in this pregnancy and either worry or avoid thinking about it entirely. Anatomy scan is June 27th.

GTKY: what are some things you do to pamper yourself?
I don’t very often but I love getting a facial. It’s more relaxing to me than a body massage.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @Kurtni I'm so sorry you had a rough appointment. What you described has been a fear of mine this entire pregnancy. I'm so glad that everything was fine. I will say my confidence in my pregnancy has increased since passing my milestone. I hope that is the case for you. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! Don't forget you aren't alone! We are here for you!

  • @Kurtni at my 10 week appointment with this one they couldnt find the heartbeat and it immediately echoed back to my first MMC at 10 weeks. I just figured it was done and over. I dread appointments because I always anticipate they will tell me something is wrong or the doctors/sonographers face will give away that it isnt viable. And i was just thinking this morning that I dont plan to do anything to prep for this baby. Since we arent finding out sex and have all hand me down stuff from my toddler I think we will just wait until the baby is safely home to do much. It is pretty much what we did with my daughter. I couldnt ever trust I was actually bringing a baby home.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 17 +3

    2. Previous loss(es)?
    1 miscarriage
    2 chemical pregnancies
    Secondary infertility

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?

My 17 week appointment really helped, I feel more calm and more excited to tell people.  I realized I haven't been letting it be real, ihave been treating it as a "maybe"- I guess with how long we were trying it just was hard to trust it.

    4. Any appointment updates?
    17 week went great.
    Anatomy scan coming up.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?  Starting to get movement and I 'popped' this week. I look pregnant to me.  To everyone else I am sure I just look differently chubby, but that is fine.

    6. Any milestones coming up?

20 weeks always feels big to me.

GTKY: what are some things you do to pamper yourself?

    Pee without an audience? LOL

I don't get a lot of chances for pampering these days.  I guess my idea of pampering is hot chocolate and a day curled up in bed to read for fun. Or brunch with some friends.

A few weeks ago when I was overwhelmed I went out in the evening for a drink alone while my husband put the toddler to bed.  Non-alcoholic of course, but it had an umbrella and I sat out by the fire-pit at our local pub and just zoned out it was divine!
  • @drama_llama I can't believe we are coming up on 20 weeks! Half way!!! I swear it is happening so fast. November will be here before we know it!!

  • Oh @Kurtni that must have been so difficult! I am glad it was ok in the end.  I can understand how terrifying that must have been.

Every appointment I hold my breath until she says "what a good baby!"
  • My OBs office called at 4:51 last night (they close at 5) and left me a message to call in the morning. I knew it would be about the genetic testing so that was a lot of anxiety. I dont understand why they have me fill out the form that says they can leave me info but then they never do. Had to wait until 830am to get ahold of them to find out the testing was all fine. Frustrates me because that seems like something that could have easily been left on voice mail.
  • @purplefan1 what the heck!  That’s super annoying and I would be frustrated too.  The first IVF clinic I was at was horrible with communication and would always pull stuff like that, it was the most stressful part of the whole process.  I think sometimes they just get so wrapped up in the routines of their job that they don’t realize how stressful it might be for someone who doesn’t receive something important like genetic testing results on a daily basis.  I’m so happy for you that they came back low risk though-that’s a great start to the weekend!
  • @purplefan1 I'm glad your results are all low risk! That amazing news! I'm sorry they left you a message like that.
  • Im feeling kind of desperate lately for reassurance that everything is ok. Hoping to get through the next two weeks until the anatomy scan. Just trying to distract myself and just enjoy the moment. But so many things feel both normal while also worrisome.
  • @purplefan1 what is feeling worrisome? I'm sorry you're feeling this uncertainty. Sometimes it is so hard to keep the PGAL brain from taking over. Can you call your OB and go in for a doppler check?
  • @emeraldcity1214 got tired of the constant tight feeling I have been having in my uterus so finally called the doctor.  Waiting to hear what they say. Nervous because I have a client coming to see me from 3-4 and Im sure that is the time the doctors office will call. I asked them to please please leave me a voice message and not just instructions to call back in the morning.  They close at 430 ao if they call back soon and want to see me I could get over there today. Hopefully it is nothing concerning and just normal pregnancy aches and pains.
  • @purplefan1 is it painful tightening? I think I have been experiencing some BH the last few days. Do you think that could be what's happening?
  • It is constant pressure. So not BH but I think I had one of those a few weeks ago. They called me immediately back and now im at the office waiting for an ultrasound. Fingers crossed everything is fine! Lots of good vibes please!
  • I'm sending positive vibes your way!!!
  • Ok so good news first, baby is ok and still growing on track. I got to see on the monitor and see lots of movement.

Not so great news: i still have an SCH and it is right under the corner of my placenta. They said it is smaller than it was at 6 weeks but we will watch it.

I have an anterior placenta. That made me sad. I was really hoping to not have one this time because it can be hard to feel kicks and movement even towards the end and takes forever for my husband to feel.

I also had a bulge behind my placenta. The sonographer who used to work for MFM said she would commonly see them when a contraction was moving through and if we scanned again it might be gone. It could also possibly be a fibroid. No one was concerned yet. But still worrisome.

Also, they tested me for possible UTI or bacterial vaginosis. Which i had both multiple times in my last pregnancy and they usually included symptoms of this intense pressure. So hopefully thats what this is and they can treat with antibiotics. Ill know in a few days.
  • @purplefan1 I'm so glad that baby is ok! Has your OB considered putting you on progesterone suppositories? I took those to help speed up the healing time for my SCH. I feel like it really helped with mine. I'm glad you went with your gut and called. Hopefully they can get the pressure sensation to go away. Will they be doing any follow up US to check the bulge behind your placenta and your SCH?
  • I go in on the 25th for the anatomy scan and we will be looking at everything again. The sonographer didnt even mention the bulge in her report because I really think she thought it was just a contraction. Im going to choose to try not to worry because I already googled fibroids and the information terrified me. Just going to take it one day at a time and drink lots of water. Hopefully this is all just simple things that will be resolved.
  • @purplefan1 I will be praying everything resolves. Did they say how big your SCH is? Has it shrank at all from your last US.
  • Thank you so much @emeraldcity1214. Prayers are always welcome! The pressure is much better today so I am hoping it was more dehydration than anything.

The SCH they said isnt big at all. It is right under the corner of my placenta. They did say it has shrunk a little since they saw it at 6 weeks. Hoping that when I go for anatomy scan it will be even smaller!
  • @purplefan1 that's where mine were located. I had 1 on each side. Hopefully it resolves.
  • Thanks @emeraldcity1214. Hopefully it wont cause any problems. Trying to avoid google for all of my concerns. Ive been kind of checked out since Wednesday because Ive just got a lot of angst right now. No cramping and no bleeding and no weird discharge. Still just hoping they call me tomorrow and tell me I have a UTI or bladder infection. That would explain a lot of what I am feeling and I had the same feelings in my 1st pregnancy (loss) as well as with my daughter. Mine present with pressure and discomfort,  not burning urination. Just wish they had called me prior to the weekend.
  • @purplefan1 I had a pressure feeling in my urethra when I was around 5 weeks or something like that. I got some antibiotics and it went away within 24 hours.  I'm sure that's what is going on with you. Hugs! I hope you can relax and your anxiety lessens.

  • Yeah, apparently no infection at all which is good but they have no clue why I was feeling how I felt. I do feel better now and have been hydrating like crazy. Drives me nuts when I tell them symptoms and they go "hmm. Thats strange." Uh, not helpful.
