  • @BigBadWolf12 happy to know your holiday is going well
  • @nimo-ad I'm already off bc we wanted to visit family overseas before I was restricted from travel,  so I stopped working a week ago at 31 weeks.  I'm a teacher so I'll then also get summer holiday off in July when we are back home and won't go back in August for the new academic year obviously. I feel a little guilty about having so much time off pre baby,  but also super enjoying it.

With DS I had a very physically easy pregnancy and carried small although he was average size, so I was feeling fine right to the end. He was born in September,  so I did go back to work for 5 weeks after summer holidays before going off at 38 weeks.  I had a weekend and Monday off and DS was born on the first Tuesday of mat leave.

I think a lot depends on what your job is (how physically or otherwise demanding it is,  etc), how difficult your pregnancy has been,  etc. 2 weeks before due date seems normal here but Sweden also has very generous leave,  so there's no pressure (financial,  societal, personal) to work beyond that to save days for after baby comes,  etc.

  • @BigBadWolf12 wow! That's alot of time, and you totally deserve it, growing these babies is quite a task
My job isn't physically demanding.. actually involves alot of sitting..but it's the busiest time of the year this month and gets especially crazy as the end of the month approaches..
I'm finding that my energy levels really dip in the afternoon & don't know how much longer I can hold on...
We get 90 days paid maternity leave, but I'd have to find out from HR about how many days of paid sick leave are allowed

    @BigBadWolf12 Enjoy your traveling!

@nimo-ad I’ve chosen to stop working a week before my due date. So I’ll be taking paid sick leave until I have the baby, at which time my 6 weeks paid maternity leave will kick in. I’ll take a combo of Short term disability, sick leave, and unpaid leave for the rest (12 weeks total). My job isn’t physically demanding but geez waking up and getting ready takes sooooo much out of me.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    August 2nd 32w2d

    Upcoming Appointments:
    Check up on the 17th

    How are you feeling?:
Getting more and more tired and having some back and hip aches, but good for the most part.

    Rants/Raves:
We’re getting away for a night next weekend and I’m looking forward to lounging in the pool/lazy river!

    Questions:

GTKY: what's something you like that most other people don't? (Food,  tv, animals,  hobbies,  anything)
Fake grape flavor. Grape blow pops and Gatorade are my fav.

    @BigBadWolf12 - safe travels!

@nimo-ad - like @heml I’m also starting leave about a week before my due date.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 31w + 5d

    Boy/Girl/finding out later? Boy

Baby is the size of a(n): bunch of asparagus

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for growth scan

How are you feeling?: ok - I had a scare yesterday and ended up going to the hospital because of heavy bleeding. It was weird, it lasted only a couple of minutes before it stopped. My OB is on vacation and I couldn’t get in touch with the Dr on call so we went to the nearest hospital and after monitoring, ultrasound, and exam they said it was just an isolated incident. The Dr on call at my OBs practice still hadn't called me 4 hours later and I was seriously considering transferring my care. I kept thinking that when I do go into labor, this procedure/unresponsiveness was just not going to fly. My OB called me from Barcelona later that afternoon, which made me feel a lot better. Sorry for the long rant!

Rants/Raves: above incident + the fact that my OBs receptionist expected me to wait 1.5 weeks until her return to give me my 3 hr glucose results. I love my OB/GYN - I’ve been with her for 10 years but I hate her practice. These two incidents combined seem really egregious to me 😑

    Questions:

GTKY: what's something you like that most other people don't? (Food,  tv, animals,  hobbies,  anything) I like anchovies on pizza.

    Rants/Raves:

Questions: TMI- Anyone know any tips for preventing a yeast infection while on antibiotics? Probiotics?

GTKY: what's something you like that most other people don't? (Food,  tv, animals,  hobbies anything.

I love adrenaline sports/activities like sky diving and white water rafting. I also love Peeps at Easter and Candy Corn at Halloween.

Edit: because I can’t read in the morning and answered the last question wrong. 😂
  • @sw1122 glad all is okay!

@nimo-ad I agree it depends on your job and so many things about when you stop working. I don’t work anymore so this doesn’t apply to me now but with my first she was due the weekend after thanksgiving and I wasn’t going to return to work after her birth. I didn’t see the point of working through the Holiday and obviously the extra week of maternity leave at the end didn’t matter to me so my last day was the Friday before that week. I was also on my feet a lot. However, if I had a desk job where I could sit and would have been returning to work I would personally try and save as much time as possible for after the baby is born. But ultimately there is no right or wrong and you have to do what works best for you.

    Boy/Girl/finding out later? Boy (Emmett)

Baby is the size of a(n): Yellow Squash

Upcoming Appointments:  Today normal OB checkup

How are you feeling?:  Sneezy.. I cant stop sneezing this morning.

Rants/Raves: We went camping this weekend and it was so much fun.  I am super exhausted but I loved almost every second of it.  Our 2yo had a blast and she didn't want to come home.  Last night she had a hard time getting back into home bedtime routine because she was sad the weekend as over and she wanted the camper.   I was happy to have my own bed last night though.. woke up one of the nights camping with a horrible charley horse of the THIGH - I've never had one of those before.

    Questions:

GTKY: what's something you like that most other people don't? (Food,  tv, animals,  hobbies,  anything)  I cant think of anything..

@sw1122 I’m so glad you’re okay! I am with you on seriously reconsidering OB practice. It’s definitely one of those go with your gut decisions, IMO
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    8/5, 32w

    Boy/Girl/finding out later?
    Boy

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Squash

    Upcoming Appointments:
Weekly appointments from here on out with the perinatal specialist, which I'm sure is related to the GD.

    How are you feeling?:
Occasionally having hip pain at night.

    Rants/Raves:
My ILs came over today and brought lunch. MIL had some lasagna she made, which I can't have (thanks, GD), so she brought me something else that fits in with my diet....freaking grilled chicken strips from the lunch meat section. It just rubbed me the wrong way, like I could have had leftover steak kabobs from last night. Then, we put DD down for her nap, and FIL kept talking really loudly so DD didn't go to sleep at all until they left, which meant she was laying there for a good hour playing around.
    Just irritated.

    Questions:

GTKY: what's something you like that most other people don't? (Food,  tv, animals,  hobbies,  anything)
I've always liked Vienna sausages, even though my friends always made fun of me for it.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    32 weeks + 3 days. Due 8/2/19

    Boy/Girl/finding out later?

    Boy!

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Hard Hat

    Upcoming Appointments:
Next week, regular check up, but she will be checking to see if I'm eligible for an extra ultrasound because I'm measuring large.

    How are you feeling?:
Not bad! I just need to pace myself. Being on my feet for more than 2-3 can wreck my lower back for the rest of the day.

    Rants/Raves:
Already ranted in the Weekly Bitchfest forum, LOL.

    Questions:
    Nothing at this point

GTKY: what's something you like that most other people don't? (Food,  tv, animals,  hobbies,  anything)
90 Day Fiance on TLC. I stinkin' LOVE that show, it's trashy realty TV at its best.

  • @heml +1 to the getting ready taking much more effort as the days pass 🤦

@sw1122 I'm sorry for the scare and so glad both you and baby are doing well

@olivemomma thanks, I've been trying to save up much of the regular annual leave days to add to the end of the maternity leave... let me see how many more weeks I can squeeze in

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 5/ 32 weeks+1day

    Boy/Girl/finding out later?  Boy

Baby is the size of a(n): Squash

Upcoming Appointments: Had a boring appointment yesterday and another in two weeks. My doctor said she will be checking position next time, and doing whatever that test is that goes in the booty! Yikes!

How are you feeling?: School is out, so for the time being I think my stress level has gone down! I am now in the process of getting our house ready for baby!

Rants/Raves:  I am just excited to get to spend the next few weeks finally focusing on this baby and preparing. Also, super excited for a little much needed relaxation time!

    Questions:

GTKY: what's something you like that most other people don't? (Food,  tv, animals,  hobbies,  anything) We have store around here called Farm and Fleet, and I absolutely love the smell when you walk in. It's basically just the overwhelming smell of tires, but I love it. Everyone thinks I am nuts. It's weird because I am very sensitive to smell, but something about it gets me!
  • @moon1417 Are you all caught up on the current season? I LOVE 90 Day Fiance The Other Way. I'm so into it.

@Cam1027 Do you watch it with DH?! It's so good. I got my husband into it ;)
  • @flagchic NO :(:( I am not   we have directtvnow which makes it super confusing to watch tv. I cant just record stuff because it gets deleted.  I'm hoping to catch up on maternity leave.. but even that is risky because the watch on demand stuff times out.

  • @flagchic I have watched a few while he has it on but I get irrationally stabby with some of them! Ashley and her Jamaican hubby make me crazy, and the Moroccan one! Ugh I want to believe girls aren’t truly that naive!  Then I start complaining to DH, so he probably prefers I not watch it with him!! 😂😂
  • @nimo-ad with DD1, I worked until the day before I was induced. My plan was to finish out that week (which would have been 3 days before my due date) and wait it out at home, but I was induced after a doctor appointment on Tuesday. With DD2, my CS was scheduled for December 5th and I worked in the office until Thanksgiving (Nov 22 I think) then worked from home for a week and took one week off completely before the CS. However, that pregnancy was much more challenging and I was in L+D every other night during the last few weeks so I was just done. With this kid, I plan to work in the office until 7/31, work a week or week and a half from home, and take a few days off before the scheduled CS (I dont know the date yet).

I'm definitely running on fumes by the afternoon though. My concern (besides just running out of leave) is being bored for that long. Even just the one week off last time was pretty lonely during the day and I started driving myself a little crazy.
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!
