I'm trying to relax and be excited to get to see her again but I'm nervous. I've started to feel a few little kicks and movement a little more this weekend so that is reassuring but I know they look at a LOT for this one. I am glad that the ultrasound place is in the same location as my doctor's office. She told me that she and the technician will both be there so that is nice. But gah...I'm just ready to have this part done and make sure she is OK.
Mine is not until July 5th...it seems so far away! We will find out the sex at ours as well so I can't wait. My last anatomy scan I was put off work onto bedrest because of a shortening cervix, but it was twins. I'm hoping this one goes smoothly for us! Good luck to everyone going this week.
@rae605 mine is July 1st, so same week and it feels like forever away! It was my favorite part of my son’s appointments. I’m getting a “level 2” ultrasound this time so I think that involves looking more closely at the organs and development, but I’m not completely sure. Either way, il looking forward to it!!
good luck to everyone getting their scan this week!
Sorry for being MIA last week, but I had my A/S on Friday. We had a great scan and everything looked to be developing as it should. H and I were also very excited to learn that we are officially team blue!

Ok, had my appointment today. Overall, definitely good! She was flipping and turning and putting her arms in the air for us but we got to see a lot. The only downside is that I potentially have a placenta previa. My doctor is very much not an alarmist and she seemed very calm when she explained to me this resolves by 3rd trimester 80-90% of the time. And even if it doesn't it more than likely means a C-section which I will be OK with. Because of the placenta position the only thing they didn't get a clear picture of was her palate but there wasn't anything to indicate concern. And she is cute and that foot is killing me. 🥰
@runningfortwo81 aw look at that foot!! I hope your placenta moves up by November! Mine was borderline during my 12 week scan, but my doctor - like yours - seemed to not be concerned.
@runningfortwo81 yay for a good scan! I had placenta previa at my anatomy scan with my son and it resolved itself before my next scan like a month or so later. I hope the same happens for you!
I am so excited to see these beautiful babies!! I got in two weeks for my scan and I dont know how I am going to distract myself for these next two weeks.
Ours is today but were keeping in an envelope until tonight and opening with our toddler. Beyond that, we decided to keep it a complete secret from everyone else
@pintobean77 did they schedule yours the same day as additional blood work?
I had mine today. He is perfect. The tech was able to get all the measurements and pictures she needed. He was moving around like crazy and even sucking his fingers.
@bmmims I don’t have anymore bloodwork that needs to be done. My doctor doesn’t do the scans in-office, he sends me to the hospital. The hospital called to schedule it and I have no idea why they want to do it so late. I’ve never have an anatomy scan that late. Oh well, guess it will be a lesson in patience. Lol
@pintobean77 I am not a fan of patience right now, lol! I had asked because my US was lumped into a 3 part appt with additional bloodwork needed and had scheduled a week(ish) after I could have initially had it.
My scan on Friday went generally well. Everything looks good, and we could even see that the little guy has the same curved pinky as my husband! Baby curled up 1/2 way through and they couldn’t get all the measurements, but they weren’t too worried and they’ll get the rest next week. Unfortunately when they did the cervix check though they saw some funneling. I’ve been on modified bed rest anyway the last 3 wks so doc said stay on it for now and he will likely admit me to the hospital at 24 wks for the rest of the pregnancy. Just hoping bub stays in as long as possible!
@natehk thinking positive, closed cervix thoughts for you!
My scan isn’t until July 1st, but it seems pretty early to me. It was originally on July 15th, but I had to switch to MFM and they reschedule it. I’m happy to have less of a wait, but I’ll only be 18w4d. Has anyone else had an earlier one? I just looked back at my son’s ultrasound pictures and I was 20w2d.
I had mine last week on Thursday- all is well. The head doc of the practice still recommended doing the msafp “just in case” so I got that blood drawn while I was there too.
Just got back from my scan + regular OB appointment. Mostly all looked good and no kidney issues for this baby The only thing is that I have a low-lying placenta. I'll have another scan to check if its moved in about 12 weeks. My OB said no exercise restrictions that but that she thinks it would be best to refrain from sex until the next u/s.
@natehk i'm sorry about your cervix, but also second the cerclage? maybe that would be able to keep you from being hospitalized so early?
@creamcheeseplease is it so low that if it doesn’t move it will be an issue? Hoping it moves up a bit though. Glad the scan went well other than that!
My scan went well. I have an anterior placenta which explains why I haven’t felt much movement. The technician commented multiple times about how active the baby is so hopefully I start feeling stuff soon. Also baby is head down which explains why I always feel like I have to pee even immediately after I’m done peeing 🤦🏼♀️. The sex is in an envelope locked in my house for my husband and I to open tonight!
@kopp5988 I'm glad all went well for you! You certainly have willpower to wait until later tonight to find out the sex! I hope you have a fun time opening it together. I think if my placenta doesn't move enough they would not consider me a VBAC candidate anymore, potentially. I am okay doing RCS if that's what needs to be done.
I see @runningfortwo81 you had a previa too? Did they tell you how close your placenta was? They didn't tell me the exact measurements but I am probably going to call back and ask.
Having a Level II ultrasound on the 27th... Did you guys need a full bladder for your ultrasounds? I heard it could be a lengthy appointment and can't imagine having a full bladder for it! They didn't mention it when I made the appt, hence why I'm asking here
@Kriztyn I have been told in my past pregnancies to have a full bladder but not this one. I usually have a full bladder by the time I get there anyway. Even when I pee before I leave the house.
@kriztyn - I think my doctor told me to not pee for like the time that I am waiting to be called in since that is usually sufficient time for the bladder to fill a decent amount. (About 30 minutes)
I have to have a level 2 ultrasound because they couldn't get a good view of the heart (baby wouldn't cooperate). She did say she thought she saw a bright spot on the heart but thought it may have just been a papillary muscle. I had NIST and a first trimester screen, so they said they aren't worried about down syndrome since I didn't have any other markers. Also there were two little cysts in the brain that the doctor said she wasn't worried about. All that to say I'm trying not to stress myself out but it's so hard!
@dani_0921 I hope all comes out well from your second u/s. Are you seeing a fetal cardiologist? When I was pregnant with DS I we saw a fetal cardiologist since he had an irregular HB on the anatomy scan. They often see these things that then the specialist isn't too concerned about. Keeping good thoughts for you!
