     Boy/Girl/finding out later? Boy

Baby is the size of a(n):  A head of Cauliflower

Upcoming Appointments: Something on the 20th.  Going in every 2 weeks now.

How are you feeling?: I honestly think I am the healthiest I have been in years.  My chronic illness has wrecked havoc on my system but pregnancy seems to agree with me.  My only complaint is discomfort when sleeping and those darn varicose veins making my leg hurt.

Rants/Raves: Wish I could ride my horse - Rant.   Rave - I love how excited my husband is.  It will never get old.

     Questions:

GTKY: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? (stolen from G4) - It would be Sushi or Agua Chile.  Agua chile is a bowl of raw shrimp, red onions, avocado, lime juice, serrano peppers, cilantro, cucumber...its delicious.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 22nd / 29 weeks + 4 days

     Boy/Girl/finding out later? Boy

Baby is the size of a(n): 32 week old, apparently

Upcoming Appointments: Checkup at end of month

How are you feeling?: Landed in the hospital last night after experiencing about an hour and a half of steady braxton hicks contractions (every 5 minutes). They were mild / not painful, but my belly got tight and hard for about 30-40 seconds at a time. Went in for monitoring / got checked to make sure it wasn't preterm labor; I guess not. Baby just playing a little prank. Was still a little scary!

In general, just feeling like nothing fits (not even my maternity clothes) and baby is starting to kick me right in the ribs.

Rants/Raves:  I always, always, always have to pee. It's a weird form of torture.

Questions: I've never been a germophobe at all, and so I wonder about how much sanitation / washing is really necessary vs. just something people do to be extra cautious. Do I really have to have a special bottle sterilizer, or can I just use my dishwasher? Do I really need to wash absolutely everything (blankets, clothes, etc) before using it with the baby? Do I really need a special type of detergent? How much do people really need to wash hands / avoid kissing the baby? I know for some people this is all a no-brainer, and they might consider me crazy or careless for even considering not doing any of these things. But it's just not something I would ever normally worry about.

GTKY: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?: No idea but right now I'm really craving some Kraft mac n cheese.
  • @law_and_little1 this may be a FFMC... I never sterilized any bottles.. I did wash them in hot soapy water... I don't wash things before they wear them. (we do have sensitive skin soap.. but thats more for me). as for hand washing... the summer is not so big on the funk and viruses so it may not be as big a deal as a winter baby. That being said my last baby ended up in the hospital for a week at 10 days old because someone passed the funk on to her... I do not wish that on any parent (or baby). though I have 3 kids and making them wash their hands before touching this one every time is just not going to happen so I am prepared for some level of sickness...

  • @jma_18 happy early birthday!

@MollyH1987 glad your H got the floors done. And hopefully 4am bathroom visits won’t become the norm!

@agpandme I’m glad you’ve been feeling so good!!

@law_and_little1 I’m not a germaphobe either. I feel like, before she comes I’ll wash everything carefully since I’ll have the time, but once she’s here, that will go out the window.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/23 29w3d

     Boy/Girl/finding out later? Girl

Baby is the size of a(n): New England cottontail rabbit

     Upcoming Appointments: June 19

How are you feeling?:  pretty good. Having back pain in one spot if I sit still for more than 5 mins.

Rants/Raves: just so happy it’s summer break!!

     Questions:

GTKY: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? (stolen from G4) hmm.  I could never do that but I’ll pick thanksgiving dinner.
  • Est due date / Weeks + Days: 30 weeks today

    Boy/Girl/Finding out later? Boy

Baby is the size of a(n): New England Canteloupe

Upcoming appointments: Thursday for a regular checkup

How are you feeling? Shortness of breath has kicked it into overdrive and I cant even drink ice water without getting heartburn. That about sums it up.

Rants/Raves: Rave, DH is getting the nursery painted this week after we have been putting it off. Rant, my boss has brought up, jokingly of course, how I hopefully go a few days over my due date just because of low staffing. Here is a thought, hire someone. She is joking but it is still annoying.

Questions: other than Tums, does anyone have any tips on heartburn? It's getting to the point that I don't eat enough because everything I eat causes it.

GTKY: If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be? Freeze pops, not really a meal but definitely my current favorite snack.

@law_and_little1 I did a mix and match approach--I did wash everything like clothes and blankets before baby wore it (until about a year-ish? Now with DD I'll have her wear stuff right out of the package, but I do wash hand-me-downs), and we use free & clear detergent anyway, but I didn't sterilize bottles and such other than washing with hot soapy water (with babyganics foaming soap).

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 16 / 30w 4d

     Boy/Girl/finding out later? Boy

Baby is the size of a(n): indeterminate and confusing produce! This week is zucchini on The Bump, which in my experience is way smaller than an eggplant a couple of weeks ago, and on Ovia it's a cantaloupe which was The Bump size like a month or more ago! I always wonder if the marketing specialists on these websites have even seen a produce ever.

Upcoming Appointments: not for another couple of weeks--I'm still on a monthly schedule until week 36

How are you feeling?: not bad, honestly! Any recent discomfort really just has to do with circumstances--overdoing it on long work days, this heat wave in NorCal, etc. My ligament pain is actually less intense than it was a few weeks ago, so I guess they just gave up and slackened forever lol. One small irritating thing is a bit of pica/non-edible cravings. Like, this past weekend I kept thinking about chewing on clay, and right now I really want to eat some foamy soap suds or bubbles from a bubble bath. You know, totally normal.

Rants/Raves: bleaaagrhhhh this heat wave! Few houses and spaces in the Bay Area have air conditioning because we don't need it very frequently, so everyone gets floppy and complainy if it goes over 83.

Questions: @brianalee2984 have you talked to your OB about going on more chronic heartburn meds? I've been on Protonix / pantoprazole since early second tri. On a more natural side, I take apple cider vinegar for blood sugar regulation but I've heard it can also help with heartburn.

GTKY: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Whole roasted chicken and roasted cauliflower (I mean, on days when it's not 90 degrees)
  • @cato99 your one meal forever sounds way too healthy! LoL. I'll just sit at my table eating all the pizza haha
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @brianalee2984 my dr had me try maximum strength Pepcid twice a day then switched me to Zantac twice a day.

@sourlemon lololol nothing healthy about hiding in the kitchen stealing off all the crunchy fatty bits off of the chicken/skin before serving it to the family because "I earned it" because "I'm the chef," OR the delectable amount of olive oil necessary to make the cauliflower crispy on the edges!

ETA answers to questions: @law_and_little1 I don't have a separate bottle sterilizer. When they're little and you go through a lot of bottles, we hand wash and then throw it in the dishwasher on sterilize cycle around once a week. I don't pre-wash things unless I feel like they need to be washed. We just use All Free and Clear detergent on all of our laundry and that was fine for LO. I do try to get people to at least use hand sanitizer before holding the baby.

@brianalee2984 I would definitely talk to your doctor about a prescription strength antacid. I have been on Zantac since 1st tri and increased to twice a day last month when once a day stopped working.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days
: EDD 8/21 / 30 weeks today! i started singing Final Countdown to DH this morning, but he was not amused.

    Boy/Girl/finding out later? Girl!

Baby is the size of a(n): The Bump = Zucchini / Ovia = Summer Cantaloupe

Upcoming Appointments: Next appointment is on 6/20 -  going every 2 weeks now

How are you feeling?: Just so uncomfortable, big, and achy. My stomach always feels so tight when I stand after sitting for a while. And holy moly the out of breathness.

Rants/Raves: DH took off of work this week to finish putting all the furniture together. I'm so excited, it's starting to actually look like a baby's room now. He should be finished with the dresser/changing table today.

Questions: Anyone else feeling some near fainting spells?

GTKY: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? (stolen from G4) This would be really hard, but probably tacos because of the variety they offer.

  • @EmilyA724 i get near fainting spells but i also have a heart condition that causes passing out/cardiac arrest so i have no clue which is to blame.
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @law_and_little1 we bought a bottle sanitizer when DD got salmonella not too long ago and never used it. It's just chilling in the laundry room. I think it's too late to return now. We only sanitized bottles if some type of Illness went through the house and we just did it in the dishwasher with all the other dishes. As for laundry I wash everything before wearing because I have bad allergies and skin sensitivities. We use an unscented detergent for all laundry. I think right now we are using Seventh generation, but I'll probably switch back to either All Free and Clear or tide free and clear. Blankets I'd definitely wash because of the likely hood of then having been dropped on the floor of a backroom and with how fuzzy they are they tend to hold dust. If someone is going to be feeding the baby I ask they wash their hands. Otherwise their hands probably aren't going near their face.
  • @EmilyA724 I have had a couple moments where I was feeling as if I could faint. Deep breathing helped!
  • @cato99 I always wonder where they get these size comparisons too. it is so bizarre.

@law_and_little1 I was told the other day that as a FTM people should grant me some grace in if I'm a bit over the top about hand washing, etc. (it was nice to hear, from someone that is a professional and not one of my friends)  My plan is to wash the bottles, maybe do the boil to sterilize the first time, and then just wash things in hot water. As for clothing, we already use a free and clear detergent bc DH and I are both sensitive to smells/fragrance and I have sensitive skin. So LO's clothes will be washed in that.

@brianalee2984 talk to your doc, but I know people who take zantac, pepcid, prilosec. pretty much all of the over the counter heartburn meds.

@sourlemon I'll be with you at the pizza table!

How are you feeling?: my hip is still bothering me.

     Rants/Raves:

GTKY: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? (stolen from G4)Pizza for sure.

@Avrilmai I have a belt I used last pregnancy for exercising during this last final stretch of pregnancy, and I think it helped. This pregnancy I certainly needed it earlier, but when I tried to use it at an earlier stage it hit me at an uncomfortable spot because the baby was lower, so the belt wound up just smooshing the baby against my bladder so literally every step was like "I have to pee, I have to pee, I have to pee." I'm going to bring it back out now that I'm in the third tri and can use it to hoist the baby up a little.
