@thirdtimesacharm2019 I'm glad it went well! This is probably a dumb question, but how did they determine he was measuring 33 weeks without an ultrasound? I'm always curious about this.
  • @oklahomak Based on fundal height (top of pelvic bone to top of uterus). What I’ve never understood is how an inch equals a week for every woman. Wouldn’t a 5 foot woman measure different than a 6 foot woman?
  • aukeevaukeev member
@thirdtimesacharm2019 Does your OB measure your fundal height at every appointment? Mine has never measured, but I've also never asked. And yeah, I would think that would vary for each woman!
  • OB appt thursday june 6. and we are getting 3d./4d ultrasound too.
  • @oklahomak Yes, it’s standard at my practice. They measure (after 20 weeks) and check heartbeat at every appointment. It’s just odd because I’m huge, but this is the first time I’ve measured ahead.
  • I've got no scheduled appointments for myself this week. I am still waiting on my GD/blood work results from last week though.

@thirdtimesacharm2019 Mine just does a heartbeat check and my vitals :/

@sourlemon FX for good GD results!

My GD test is Thursday afternoon and I'm feeling anxious about it. I don't really have any reason for concern (that I know of), just feeling a little stressed.
  • We have our 3D U/S this afternoon! Since it was not medically necessary, insurance won't cover it so it's my and DH's combination Mother's Day/Father's Day gift to each other. Looking forward to seeing our little girl and comparing pictures to our DS's 28 week U/S. Also hoping her growth has leveled out since she's been measuring a week ahead!

We are doing a 3d/4d ultrasound Thursday after ob appt. we had to pay for our;s too. but haven't seen our baby boy on ultrasound since high risk appt at 24 weeks and something.
  • We had our 3D/4D ultrasound and check up today. It was so great. He is head down but doing acrobatics and we got pictures of his foot in his face haha. His spine and butt is pressed into my left side and ribs, which explains that massive pain. He weighs 2lbs 12.5oz now. His little face is just so cute. Ahhhh. Everything else went great! Next appt is in 3 weeks on June 24.

  • @sourlemon, FX for good GD results!

@oklahomak, good luck with your GD test!

@thirdtimesacharm2019, ahhh it’s getting so real that some are so close to the end!

  • @oklahomak My ob checks heartbeat and fundal height at every appointment.  She said fundal height should equal the number of weeks.  So 30 weeks should measure 30 cm.  I'm on track for this pregnancy which is a relief because I consistently measured behind in my first.

I have appointments up the wazoo.  I have physical therapy 1-2 times a week.  My ob appointments are every other week, though the next one is next week. I also have DD's early intervention, hearing test, and preschool orientation appointment sprinkled in between.  I'm pretty much rolling into work late 4 out of 5 days a week for the next month.
  • @Twinkiedoll same. I have 2 OB appointments, 6 PT appointments, and a week of vacation this month 😬. People are going to start wondering if I work full time still.
  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 @oklahomak My OB has listened for heart rate at every appointment, and started measuring fundal height at 24 weeks. I wonder that same thing about fundal height! I just don't get how it's not different for women of different height/size.

No appointments for me this week as of now, but I'm waiting to hear back from my OB about another US to measure fetal growth this month (then I have one last US next month). It was supposed to be early next week but I'll be out of town and they said they would call with the new date, potentially this week, but nothing yet. If I haven't heard anything by tomorrow morning, I'll probably call them to see what's up.

I’m getting jealous of y’all’s 3D US. It’s so tempting!!!
  • My OB hasn’t checked fundal height at all.  (Although maybe it’s because I’ve been having MFM ultrasounds).  This appt will be the first with no MFM appt right before it.

I have a not so fun ob appt on Wednesday. I have my glucose test and am getting the Tdap and Rhogam shots.
  • My midwife never measures fundal height. I feel like it would be so off since my uterus has been so high since like 19 weeks because I’m short.

@AKuzReve That's how mine is, too. It's been riding right up to the underwire of my bra for months.
  • My OBs have always measured fundal height at each appt after 20 or so weeks and that is at 3 different offices. We know this LO is measuring ahead from past u/s but my OB thinks my water is large as well and may be causing more of a discrepancy with fundal height.

  • I’m currently doing the 3hour glucose 🙄🙄. One more hour to go! Tired freezing and want to eat! But baby is dancing around so that’s cute. I usually only feel him in the early morning or at night so this is a treat.

    Good luck ladies!
  • Same story here- fundal height measuring for the last three appointments, and heartbeat doppler for every appointment since pregnant. I'm measuring only slightly ahead, so if I still measure ahead in two weeks, she's going to schedule the ultrasound to get a good look. I'm excited as well- I wasn't expecting an extra sneak peak!
  • @Allycat11 FX that you won't need a c-section, and also that you'll be able to start keeping food down soon! If you do go for IV fluids, I hope they make you feel better. They definitely helped me a lot when I had to go in for them earlier in the pregnancy, though they did make me absolutely freezing cold when they were being administered.

I get an extra appointment today because I have extreme shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. I coughed up a bit of blood after a 15 minute slow walk at lunch with my mom so she made me call the doctor. The OB doesnt really care, said to call my PCP. My PCP wont see me while pregnant. Call the OB back and they gave me a hard time but scheduled the appointment. I can barely breath whenever I move or lay down...the only position that I can breath in sitting. But that doesnt explain the tightness or the coughing up blood.

Edit: and yes, my mom made me call because I would much rather not go to the doctor to be told its nothing or its normal. mommy to the rescue lol

@Allycat11 I hope it's nothing too terribly serious! Keep us posted.

@sourlemon Don't you love getting the runaround from medical office staff? Lol. Moms are the best.

@Beauxbaton Congrats on the great results! That's such good news to hear all of the tests went smoothly!
  • @sourlemon my doc is the complete opposite and tries to refer out for everything
  • Thanks everyone for the support. The nurse called back and said to take zofran (already am) and drink Pedialyte (if I cant keep down water not sure how that would help). The nurse chimed in that even though the doctor did not say it, I could go to the ER for an IV of fluids. I think I may give it 1 more night and go from there. My body feels like it needs/wants to eat now but still can't. And it feels very weak. I had to lean on my car pumping gas and still thought I might faint and could barely keep my arms up to get DD's hair ready for her dance dress rehearsal.

@sourlemon I hope everything is okay! How frustrating that neither of them wanted to see you.

  • Just got home from the doctor. She doesn't think it's actually pneumonia but I do have a little fluid in my lungs and a ton of wheezing and coughing. So I'm getting antibiotics and if they can find an inhaler that is safe with my heart condition, I'll get that too. She had to email the MFM on that cuz Albuterol isn't safe and that is usually the go to. So at least she took it seriously.

  • The doctor ob sent me to for the gestational diabetes wants to start me on insulin to help my fasting number and sometimes the after meal numbers that are high.

Today’s US and 28-wk OB appointment went relatively well.

    The good:
-The boys are growing on track, are similar size to each other, and fluid levels are normal. I had been worried that growth had slowed down, but my belly is officially measuring 36 weeks - so I’m bigger than I thought 😂
-My cervix is still nice and long. So the boys shouldn’t be coming out anytime soon.

    The bad:
-I’m always a tough blood draw, and a morning fast made that particularly bad today. Between the attempted (and finally successful) blood draws and the TDaP...I’m wearing 4 bandaids on my arms. Not cool.

    🤞🏻hopefully I don’t have anemia or diabetes.

@aecm, I feel you on that. My veins are not visible, even with pregnancy, so they usually just have to feel and hope for the best. And then I bruise. Last time my bruise was like a whole hand and I told my H it looks like someone grabbed me too hard.

Yay for a good appt! Fingers crossed for good results.

@AKuzReve It’s so not fun. My mom is a bruiser, but thankfully I’m not. Apparently my veins are just deep and small. I get anxiety over it, especially after that first failed attempt, b/c I know they’re just going to be trying multiple times and digging around. Ugh.

  • I have sucky veins too. Solidarity. For the 2 hour glucose with 3 draws they actually got it the first stab instead of having to repeat! I was happily shocked. But then I swelled up so much at the draw site that they had to take the 3rd draw from my forearm instead of my joint and then ibruised so much...nasty bruises 2 inches long for like 10 days. Blah.

@aecm fx for no anemia or diabetes :)

Forgot to mention - both boys flipped breech. *insert major grumbling on my part* They were both head down at 24-weeks and it made me so happy. Dr. says she’s not concerned til 34 weeks...but if baby A doesn’t flip and let me have my VBAC, I’m gonna be one annoyed mama.

  • Just an update on my vomiting...cant remember which thread it was on originally. Up to 4 days of not keeping food down with times of not even keeping down water. OB just was saying take zofran and drink pedialyte...both not working. I just drove myself to the ER to hopefully get some fluids and find out why I am vomiting so much. I am down 4 pounds in the past week (I mean I had plenty to spare but still not ideal for 28 weeks pregnant). While I was typing this nurse and PA came in, both commented on how I look dehyrdrated and they had trouble drawing blood.

  • @Allycat11 *hugs* I hope you can get some relief soon. There’s enough going on in third tri, ain’t nobody got time to be throwing up too!
  • I also have a hard time with blood draws. If they do manage to get my vein in one or two attempt, my blood flows soooooooo slow because my heart meds that it takes 2-3 minutes per TUBE. Last appointment it took 20 minutes to just fill the 5 tubes that they took because it would just randomly stop. I swore to the nurse I'm not a vampire and I'm not dead, my blood is just slow.

@Allycat11 Im glad you went in but sorry you had to go in! feel better!
