Re: Monday BF

  • @oklahomak - I've had similar issues, so I've basically given up on it. That and the crazy sh#t that's been going down in the news lately.

AFM, nothing bad today, but HOLY CRAP. This weekend. I'm SOOOOOO damn tired of my boss(es). Like, I get that you're way important and super busy. However, if I get you shit on Tues/Wed of a week, I shouldn't be working the f@cking weekend because that's your "first chance" to get to it (for your super-important Monday meeting). Prioritize and stop interrupting my family time. Jerks. [also - I totally CC'd my supervisor on all that shit from this weekend because I'm accumulating all of this sort of bullshit to be used in my mid-year PMD to get a mothaflippin' market adjustment/big raise BEFORE I go out on Maternity Leave; not leaving that shit until year-end).

@oklahomak YES. Every time H sells something we go through waiting and rescheduling and it's such an inconvenience. A lot of times if I'm buying something, I'll offer a lower price and say I can pick it up that day. Sometimes it works just because people don't want to have to play the waiting game!

In other news, I'm feeling extra pregnant. I can no longer get out of bed without grunting...it's going to be a long 11 weeks!

Went to a friends wedding on saturday. It was on the coast, POURING sideways rain and windy.  We got soaked just running to the barn for the ceremony. It was originally suppose to be outdoors but that wasn't going to happen. The sister that I don't talk to was in the wedding party and everyone I knew there was also friends with her.  My husbands old boss and his new boss were there (small town problems).  Everyone else I knew were also friends with my sister.  It was honestly just the most uncomfortable wedding that I've ever been to for many reasons that I don't want to get into. Long histories of back stabbing and fake people.  I'm not "allowed" to say hi to my niece (18 months old) because of my sister is a chronic narcissist in the worst way.  Watching everyone pass her around and avoid me broke my heart.  We left early and have no regrets. I apologized to the couple the next day and was honest with them as to why, so if they are offended, I did my best. I'm not going to sit in a room in an uncomfortable chair and try not to cry all evening while also being pregnant.  It sucks because I really love the couple but my sister is one of her best friends so its quite an unfortunate situation.
  • So here is a novel of a BF but this is copied and pasted from my FB. I am sick of medical issues and insurance issues.

Over the past year or so I have gotten to experience first hand how broken our insurance/health care system is and yet it still continues to surprise me. Here is the latest:
    - Cami's neurologist at U of M sent us to the lab for some genetic testing.
-Insurance said, yeah we disagree with your neurologist and think you don't actually need it (wtf?)
-Because U of M is amazing, her neurologist personally called me before we received the letter from insurance and explained that she had already started the appeal process for us.  WOOHOO!
    - Insurance says that even though her doctor submitted an urgent appeal, they disagree and are putting it through the regular appeal process (again wtf?)
-Receive another letter stating that we have not authorized her doctor to submit an appeal on her behalf (WTF?!?!!)
So now I get to fill out an entire packet of information to say, yeah I am totally cool with Cami's neurologist filing appeals for us.

Thankfully we have been able to make some positive changes to her insurance which include being able to have PT and OT coverage and authorizing visits to U of M. However, I have heard that fighting for anything related to genetics is an uphill battle... so here we go again. I also spoke with her OT last week about her thoughts on how Cami is doing and how long we will be continuing.  Her response was that at this point she will continue weekly OT and PT indefinitely. While there has been some progress, we have seen other setbacks and seem to be dealing with a chronic condition.

Not sure you realized, but you copied and pasted without changing your daughter's name to DD. I just know in the past you've been careful to use DD and not real names, so as an internet paranoid myself, I thought I'd make sure you did that on purpose.
  • @allycat11 I am so sorry you have to deal with all that. I feel like if a doc says its necessary it should just be done.

DH has a man-cold... he's been whining and complaining since yesterday but somehow was still able to go out in the cold and rain to pokemon for 3 hours. He complained he didn't sleep at all... I call BS.. since you snored like a freight train half the night and kept me up... sigh...

  • Oh no @Allycat11, that's f@cking horrible and they should be ashamed. Clearly, a specialist's appeal should override anything - at that point if parents disagree, then they can just forego the testing/treatment :| DH is the manager of benefits for our US employees and it's infinitely frustrating, hearing the tricks insurance tries to pull and how we - even as a self-insured company - have minimal say in our own care. So sorry and FX for you and your family.

@wabash15 - Eeeeeeeeek. Just came outta that tunnel, myself. DH had the stomach flu for about 48 hrs last week and I was like "HEAL YOURSELF, DON'T LOOK AT ME, TALK TO ME, OR BE IN THE SAME ROOM" ... you know, I'm pregnant (but really, I was mad at him for several things and just felt it was his comeuppance and I was just wanting him to just leave me alone) ;) But once he got better, he did step up and do a lot with DD over the weekend, so we're back on an even keel now. Hoping yours heals-up soon ... I can't imagine how hard it was for him to push through that awful weather to make sure he gets his monsters/magic/points (I don't know how Pokemon works!).

  • HELP!

All of my family lives in a different state (California, where I grew up), and back in March I went back home to have a gender reveal party/baby shower for the family. 90% of my family can't travel due to health (grandparents, aunts, a sister). So, we had a shower there in California so my family could attend and be feel apart of the pregnancy, which is difficult since I live far away.

I started having a lot of local friends and co-workers asking about a local baby shower for me. Obviously, I would never ask somebody to throw me a party, so I had decided that I'd just throw myself a get together for all my local people to attend. Not a big deal, not a huge shower, just a casual get together. At the beginning of April, one of my husband's co-workers asked about the baby shower as well, and I mentioned I'd be throwing one in June probably. They got very excited and asked if they could host it, and I said sure! I let them know I already have a place to hold it, that I was just going to get some food and make it very casual, but if they wanted to take it over, that's fine with me. They seemed very excited to do this for me, and I was flattered.

Around the end of April, a few of my friends who are local but still out of town were asking for a date, and I texted the lady who was going to be throwing it, and they said that it is in the works and they'd get back to me soon. This week, I've had two more people ask me about the baby shower date so they can travel to it, and I still don't have a date. I texted the lady this morning, and she responded that with work June is going to be super busy, so they want to have a "Welcome Home Baby" party in August, when I am due!

This flusters me because I'm a very Type A person, I wanted to have things for the nursery all set up and completed prior to baby being born. I don't want to offend this person, since she works with my husband, but I'd much rather just have it done before baby than afterwards. I only get 6 weeks off of work, and I can't imagine being in a party mood during that time. I'm just anxious that now, not knowing how to respond. Any thoughts?!
  • @flagchic I would go back to your original plan to host your own party. Who has a welcome home party for a baby??? Like, yes, please bring allllll your germs to my newborn... ummm no.
  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 they are called "sip and see". its actually not that uncommon. Thats what we ended up having with the twins. I think depending on the time of year it could be a better/worse idea.

@flagchic I would just be frank with her. Tell her that you would feel more comfortable having a shower rather than a sip and see. You understand that its a crazy time for her and appreciate her willingness to help, but if it doesn't work for her you understand and can take the planning back.

@flagchic If you told any of the people asking you for a date that the original hosts are no longer able to host, might they offer? If not, then I agree with @thirdtimesacharm2019 that your original plan may be best
  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 it's not unheard of to have a meet the baby thing. Personally I wouldn't because like you said, germs. Also post partum is hard. So no thanks.

@flagchic I'd just be upfront with her and say you would rather not have a meet the baby party because of whatever reason be it germs or you have no idea how you'll feel after the baby is born. Also how presumptuous of her to assume to even try to plan something like that?
  • @flagchic I agree with everyone else - I would just go back to throwing your own and say - something like "Ok no big deal, since I had a lot of the plans already in the works I'll just pick it back up! I love planning stuff anyway - I would rather do it in June just because I can't be sure I'll be up for visitors after the baby is born :)

  • I am totally pissed off at my parents right now. They're visiting my sister for a few months before coming to help me close to D-day and bought my LO and us a ton of stuff. Since they're anyways planning to come be with us, I told them I will get it all then. Now they are mad at me for not picking up all that they bought when I visited them last. I'm like what's the hurry? They cannot see my LO enjoy any of it until they come here. When I called today morning, my mom is giving me the cold shoulder and my sister explained that this is the reason. Seems pretty silly to me, but what do I know?
  • @Allycat11 I’m so sorry you are dealing with insurance crap. Those companies really are the worse! Parents should NOT have to fight to have their child’s needs covered

Wow a couple of these made my jaw drop! @Allycat11 I cannot BELIEVE (and yet I can) what your insurance company is doing, that they'd fight against a doctor's explicit instructions and wishes.
  • I'm supposed to be in a wedding in October. So like 2ish months post partum, three AT MOST. She just told us what she wants us to wear. She wants us to wear floor length, high waisted tulle skirts and a top that has yet to be determined. I'm 5 foot 2 inches, and rather plus size. It's going to look legit terrible on me. I'm in general not a fan of being in front of people. And especially not when in something that I feel completely uncomfortable in. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to bow out.
  • Thanks guys for the support on the insurance thing, I am not surprised anymore but it makes me sick. Last year we had a neurologist, neurosurgeon, pediatrician, occupational therapist and rheumatologist all saying she needed OT and fighting back but the insurance company still would not cover it. Since OOP it would cost $375 per 45 minute session (needed weekly), we ended up switching her insurance to get it covered.

  • All my (limited) experience with sip n sees have been when the baby is more than a month old,  not a welcome home or when the baby is *brand* new.  I can't imagine trying to plan a party for August - the due month...you just don't know how early or late the baby will be or how smooth the transition will be,  etc.

@flagchic I think it's totally fair to say thanks for the offer,  but I'd rather go back to my original plan. And then plan your own.

  • I know it's Wednesday, but YOLO!

Why in the bloody hell do the armpits on sleeveless or cap sleeve outfits in all maternity wear go down to your flippin' waistline?! Like WTF. I don't want to have to wear a tank/camisole with every damn thing, but I don't need side-bra showing either. It's already *real* hot (when sleeveless & cap sleeves are all I wear), I don't need extra friggin' layers in my life!  :# This may or may not have been a previous BF, and may or may not be another one a few more times between now and August ...

  • My WBF... and its totally a first world problem... but yesterday I was in the ER with DH for half the day and was exhausted when I went to pick up the kids from daycare. It was raining and the wind was blowing so hard it was raining sideways. There are only 4 parking spots close to the door and they were all full. I was not going to drag 3 kids and all their stuff across the parking lot in the pouring rain so I was waiting patiently for a spot to open up. Just as it does this other car zips around from the other side of the parking lot and takes the spot. I really wanted to throttle that woman... its common knowledge that if someone is waiting near where I was waiting that they are waiting for one of the close spots and I was there WAY before she was... ugg. Thankfully I only had to wait 2-3 more minutes for another spot to open up but really?!?  WTF lady you and your non-pregnant one child ass couldn't either walk or wait 2 more minutes?!?

I would NEVER drive like that.  Today it was a utility person looking at our lines.  I spoke to him on my way out and he said "okay".  But why do it in the first place?  I had to tell my own sister to stop driving on my property because she drives fast and is staring at her phone the whole time. She wasn't paying attention and hit a log near the driveway, got mad and spun her truck tires.  So she got the boot.  I won't have it anymore, especially with a baby coming. I want to feel safe on my own land.  I had another guy drive around in my back yard just because there happens to be an old access road that we rarely use. I would never do that!  A gate is going in soon and if people get upset, maybe they should have thought about that before speeding down my road? Walking is good for us. Everyone should do it more often.
