Infertility

Intro **TW: DD**

This will be short and sweet!

We successfully conceived DD within 6 cycles in 2016, and started TTC again for #2 Mar/Apr 2017 (stopped BF'ing early - different story). Since spring 2017 I've been tracking BD/CM/OPKs etc. and as far as I can tell, I'm regular. Anyway, life went by and a couple of months ago I realized it had been like 20 cycles of good timing and no results. Boo.

Our first RE appointment is on Thursday! I'm cautiously optimistic. I know nothing about infertility. I read some posts on this board, I see a lot of big words which I'm assuming are a combination of pills, needles and creams? Slightly terrifying.

Hoping the results from this initial appointment come in quickly. I wish I had started this process earlier :(

Me: 33 | DH: 34

IUI#1 Aug 2020 - BFN
IVF #1 Dec 2020 (ICSI) - ER, freeze-all - 15 retrieved, 15 mature, 15 fertilized. 4 embryos frozen, all day 5 blasts!
FET #1 Feb 2021 - BFN
FET #2 Apr 2021 - BFP 5DP5DT!! Beta #1 13DP5DT (17DPO)  = HcG 1,238. Beta #2 17DP5DT (21DPO) = HcG 8,269

Re: Intro **TW: DD**

  • Hi there. Welcome and I'm sorry you have to find yourself here to begin with. This process may seen scary and overwhelming. Good thing is that you found this board before jumping in and there's a wealth of information here. There are a ton of supportive and wonderful ladies (and some gents) here who can provide guidance, moral support, explanations, etc...so don't be afraid to ask all the questions. Once you find out your protocol, join a monthly IVF/IUI thread to chat with others who are going through the same thing as you. I hope your stay here isn't long and I wish you success.

  • @PrettyPalomino I agree with what they’ve been said. These boards are wonderful for guidance and support. When I first started my journey with ivf I was so overwhelmed and nervous. Don’t let the big words scare you, the process isn’t too bad. Best of luck!
  • Welcome! I'm sorry you have a reason to be here, but you've come to a good place for support, guidance and understanding. It can definitely feel overwhelming, but the thing that has helped me most is to try to remember to take it one day and one step at a time. Also don't hesitate to ask questions! A lot of my stress early on came from the unknown. Come prepared to appointments with a list of questions and don't hesitate to follow up with your clinical team after appointments if you still have questions once you've had time to process any new information you have received. Best of luck!

  • Follow up: diagnosis is in.

Yes I have polycystic ovaries, but not the syndrome. Turns out it’s severe male factor, sperm count is at 2 million, which doesn’t even qualify us for IUI 😞

The waitlist for IVF at my clinic is 12-14 months, so I guess we are benched for now.

Good luck to everyone, FX for all!!

I'm so sorry to hear your next stop is IVF.  It's a tough pill to swallow.  Especially because there's SOMETHING!  (Azoo wife here, I know nothing about sperm counts lol) but that was us too.  Do not pass go, go directly to IVF, if we were lucky enough to find viable sperm to work with, which we were, thank goodness, but not everyone is.

I do know from LOTS of experience on the bench how hard that can be. :/ there is a benched thread on ttgp if you wanna, as well. (((Hugs)))

ETA have they mentioned supplements or prescriptions yet to boost his counts?  I wonder what could have happened between your previous time ttc and now...
  • I'm sorry about your diagnosis. We are male factor as well and yeah, IVF is our best shot in this case. I'm sorry it's such a long wait at your clinic. Have you checked other clinics in your area?
