Re: 1st Trimester Struggles

  • @spawnsvessel the B6 seems to be helping so far! I'm noticing the biggest differences mid morning - early afternoon.

  • Oh goodie, last night while brushing my teeth I almost threw up. Last pregnancy I had about 2-3 months where that happened every time I tried. I ended up getting about 15 seconds to speed brush otherwise it ended up being a waste of time even trying, so hopefully that’s not as bad this time around.
  • @CapricaAndrea I had the same thing last time around! yesterday I was brushing and started gagging too. I'm hoping it was just a one off this time because that was miserable.
  • Does anyone have any advice for clothes for that in between period?! My chest has seriously tripled in size and my work dresses all look very inappropriate but I’m not at the point of needing maternity stuff yet.

@jenn6233 i just wear flowy less restricting dresses at the moment.
    ME: 34
    DH: 37
    DD: 03/17/17
    DS: 12/06/19
  • @jenn6233 I am struggling with the same issue.  I bought a few shirts that were flowy that I can wear with leggings.
  • Thanks ladies! I wish I could wear leggings to work 😐 I guess I’m not doing a great job of hiding it either - a lady at work asked me yesterday if i was expecting and I couldn’t lie! 😩
  • Am I the only one who is super thirsty, but drinking plain water makes me nauseous... can’t win...
Ive tried adding lemon to my water but that doesn’t seem to help...
  • @chrisalex118 I've been a little successful with drinking seltzer-type products when I'm feeling like that (unsweetened but flavored). Maybe try those? The carbonation seems to help me.
  • Thank you, I’ll try that

Thank you, I will give that I try
  • @chrisalex118 with my first plain cold water gave me heartburn. I would add in the tiniest bit of apple juice or Gatorade and that seemed to help do the trick.

@chrisalex118 I second the seltzer waters. Only thing that I can honestly drink, and sometimes coconut water. Plain water makes me more nauseous.

With my morning sickness, I've been hating the smell of most food, especially post-meal, so I think I made a genius move today- I bought paper plates to use so I don’t have to handle disgusting dirty dishes for a while!  I hope this helps me out a little, I just want to spend less time in the kitchen.  I’ll report back if all of us should try this method!!  👍😊
  • @chrisalex118 I agree with the above about seltzer water. I am constantly thirsty and just recently started to get sick after drinking plain water. DH brought me home lime bubly water and it had been a life saver. I still drink regular water, but I chase it with bubly. Especially after my morning vitamins.
  • I am not sleeping. The past three nights I have been up on the hour every hour using the restroom or just tossing and turning. Not to mention nightsweats. Even if I sleep in bra and shorts, it never fails, I wake up sweating. It's terrible.
  • Is anyone struggling with going into work period?
I'm having a rough start to my pregnancy.

On top of the normal stuff like morning sickness, food aversions, exhaustion, weird dreams that make sleep feel pointless. I have developed all kinds of things I didn't have before pregnancy. Hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, my sugar levels are high, I can't really take things for my seasonal allergies and I live in farm country.

I feel terrible all the time and I never want to get up and go into work. Which isn't normal for me. I like my job and love my co workers. I'm freaking out about the possibility of losing my job. HR knows I'm pregnant and that I'm high risk so they have been very understanding. But I'm only 8 weeks along. At what point are they going to decide I'm not worth keeping?
  • @mrszoobear I've also been struggling to get out of bed for work due to fatigue.  I'm usually ok once I get going and eat something, but I've been hitting snooze a lot and running late, which results in me taking an Uber to work (instead of the bus) more often than I should. If you're missing a lot of work, you might consider asking HR if you should fill out FMLA paperwork and file it now.  Since you have pregnancy related health issues, maybe your doctor can write a note to ensure your absences are excused.
  • @mrszoobear, I am struggling with fatigue and nausea/vomiting way more with this pregnancy than others.  I took Monday off, made it in (barely) Tuesday and Wednesday, worked from home today, and I'm taking tomorrow off.  I haven't told them yet, and I'm kind of expecting to get called out at some point.
  • @blueskychicago12 - I plan on bringing it up at my next appointment but that isnt until the 30th. I don't live close to the medical practice and my doctors are super popular. It makes it hard to get in early. Sorry you are struggling too.

@nerdmom0013 - I'm so sorry you are having a hard time with everything. It really sucks. I wish I had the option to work from home. If I was issued a laptop, my job is 100% doable from home. But my work doesn't let anyone who isn't a "big boss" do that. I'm glad that your work gives you that option. I'm sure it is still tough to do the work but hopefully you are more comfortable.
  • @mrszoobear, I hate when companies won’t let people work from home when they totally could.  I hope that you get some relief soon.
  • @nerdmom0013 - Thank you. I talked to HR again today and she told me not to stress the time off I have been taking and that everyone understands. It was good to hear.
  • @j3nn1b33 - this is my very first pregnancy and it's high risk. I pray every single day, telling God how thankful I am for being pregnant and asking him to help the pregnancy go to full term. I think it is a totally normal fear for every woman.
  • @j3nn1b33 yes absolutely. TW TW TW......... So last weekend I thought I miscarried, but then I saw a heartbeat at Monday's ultrasound. I've been spotting for over a week now, and it started getting heavier and darker brown yesterday. I spoke to my doc and she said as long as it is brown she isn't too concerned. Of course, shortly after talking to her, the spotting started to turn more reddish-brown. It still doesn't contain tissue but is very worrisome. I was up all night tossing and turning and crying and praying. If that little baby is still in there, I just pray that it is growing safely and healthy. I'm scared out of my mind right now.
    END TW
  • @mama_mea I hope everything is okay, and honestly when in doubt go get checked out. Hopefully everything will be fine and you will have yourself a strong baby.

@mrszoobear Thank you, it is reassuring to know that I am not alone in my worries. It is hard to have a high risk pregnancy, and also be a FTM ( I am not, but when I had my first I was.) It is extremely stressful. I hope for the best for you and your LO.
