I've been avoiding the thread for this reason!
  • Confession: I'm tired of feeling fat. I don't look pregnant yet, just fat. It's annoying me because I can't really get away with the whole "I'm pregnant" look, but none of my normal clothes fit me (I'm in my fat girl pants and close to grabbing my husband's shirts, which are a size larger than my regular size). I've even taken to wearing my husband's jacket when I'm out most days because I feel so self-conscious (but also, mine won't zip over my hips anymore and it's that weird time of year that can still be chilly). 😔

I hate feeling this way, and I know I'm pregnant, but it is still tough to see myself in the mirror every day. Tell me I'm not alone, or that you STM+ have been here...

I'm right there with you <3 I had lost around 20 pounds before the holidays and was already told it looks like I gained it all back rather than looking pregnant.
  • @marbellie This is just my opinion but I don't feel that should have to respond to everyone, or feel you have to. If you have something to say regarding something said then yes tag. It saddens me when people don't participate because they feel the have the check-list of things they have to do.
👆🏻 That, right there is how I feel!

Same here, haven't opened that thread once because when it comes to names I'm a very traditional gal and made up/ "trendy" names drive me crazy!
  • @obsessedwithoranges and @emily1052 I’m in the same boat with soft cheeses. If I know a cheese is unpasteurized I won’t eat it (I’m looking at you, delicious selection at Whole Foods). But if it’s at a restaurant or something where I don’t know for sure? I figure most cheese is pasteurized here and if I wouldn’t worry about eating at the restaurant while not pregnant, then I don’t worry about it now. Side note: I keep confessing and rationalizing my soft cheese eating to my husband and he’s like “you don’t have to keep justifying it to me! It’s really ok!” I’m glad we see eye to eye.

Yesssss. I eat it at home, I eat it out. I order Jimmy John's an embarrassing amount. I have absolutely zero qualms. If I liked sushi I would eat that too. I think all the restrictions some people follow are insane! Eat food from reputable sources, you're just as likely to contract food borne illnesses when you're not pregnant as when you are, and I've never gotten any my whole life so I feel pretty safe. Especially considering most "outbreaks" of listeria, etc are from lettuce or something. I'm keeping my cold cuts, thanks.

  • This might be a confession based on all the lunch meat talk, but I let fear of other people's judgement impact whether I eat it or not. We had turkey bacon club sandwiches served at a work lunch a few weeks back, and I didn't eat the turkey. Not because I was worried about listeria, but because I was worried my coworkers would judge me. 🙈

LOL I am totally right there with you. At my work event earlier this week they only had sandwiches and salad. I ate the salad because I didn't want any judgement. But now that I'm home, I just had Jimmy John's for lunch today - and it was effing delicious!
  • @obsessedwithoranges, YES! So judgy. I have cut out almost all caffeine, but decided to have a can of pop the other day when I was dangerous sleepy and needed a caffeine boost to make it through the afternoon. My male coworker made such a huge deal about it and went on and on about how his wife went cold-turkey with no caffeine both times she was pregnant. I didnt know how to respond. Like, okay.......? Good for her?
  • @galentine Ugh dudes commenting is THE WORST. I got a similar comment from a male colleague when I had a cup of coffee during our leadership offsite. I didn't say a word in response, just stared at him while taking a huge sip, letting the awkwardness linger. He didn't say anything else. LOL

My confession is that I will have a glass of wine on Mother’s Day if I feel like it.  I am unsure how we feel about that here, but I feel like I would get more alcohol from leaving a glass of orange juice out so I’m good with it.
Only reason I won’t be doing this is I had 4 oz glass a few weeks ago and got massive heartburn the following day 😪

im totally okay (and so is my MFM) with a weekly 4oz glass of wine

I'm all in on this, enjoy!
  • At my friend’s wedding last weekend I had decided I would have a little champagne during her toasts - not a lot, but a few sips to toast a dear friend. But rather than having champagne already at the tables or passed around right before the toasts, they had an open bar where you could order a champagne if you wanted one. I felt too self-conscious ordering one after asking for mocktails all evening so I just got a ginger ale. 🙁

No judgement here. My doctor has no issues with a small glass of wine now and again but recommends it doesn’t exceed 140 ml.
  • @galentine @jenferlee82 I’m sorry you’re feeling lunch meat shamed 😢 I actually told a coworker that commented a while ago to mind her own business.... I said it while smiling as to not seem so bitchy.
  • I hope we move to a private group at some point near October, but I personally feel like "soon" sounds too soon.
  • @jane101757 You are not alone in finding the Bump app super non-user friendly. I also struggle with it, find the auto correct particularly terrible and am rarely on my laptop.

I am am curious why turkey is the lunch meat to avoid? It’s probably the one I would choose to eat first and feel like I must go google this now.
