@kiddiesandkitties I had PUPPS with my last pregnancy. It's not fun. I found an oatmeal based lotion multiple times a day helped with the itching and oatmeal baths.

  • I woke up in the middle of the night last night with such awful stomach pains that were the closest thing to contractions. I was in so much pain I couldn't get up to go to the bathroom. They were on both sides of my stomach. They only lasted 5 minutes or so, and I went back to sleep. I can still feel baby movement & kicks. I had just seen my Dr. yesterday morning for a checkup and all was good. Would you call your doc? Or just chalk it up to a weird occurrence?

  • @MsBeachNJ I would contact her, even if it's just to keep an record of it happening. Contraction-like pains are scary and I think the doc should know!
  • @MsBeachNJ where was the pain? I get AWFUL RLP in the middle of the night if I roll over or twist and it can be super debilitating (and takes about 5 min to subside).
  • @kiddiesandkitties I'm sorry that happens to you! It wasn't RLP, I have had that before with sudden movements, it was almost like it could be trapped gas but it was coming in waves at the same time from both sides.

  • @MsBeachNJ Around this time last pregnancy I had something very similar. We chalked it up to some sort of bug or discomfort, it was odd. Could this have been Braxton Hicks though?

  • @nda_roxybabe I don't recall braxton hicks ever being as severe with my 1st, I remember them being uncomfortable and tightening - this was like keel over in pain sharpness, but I suppose anything is possible? Maybe it was something I ate?

  • @MsBeachNJ Now that I think about it, I have had some doubled over gas pain before. And now that everything is mish-mashed around in different places, it's harder for me to determine what's gas pain and what's not. The other day I started having sharp pains in a really unusual place (like higher in my upper abdomen but only on one side), and I convinced myself I was going to need an emergency appendectomy (lol) but the pain was gone before I could even make it to google.
  • @MsBeachNJ how are you feeling today?  Any more pain?

I'm just feeling beat down, and I'm starting to worry that if it's this bad now, how am I going to make it to September?  I'm sleeping OK, but my back is sore, I'm wearing a belly support band already, and I just have no energy.  Does anyone have a yoga or stretching routine that is safe for someone who has nEvEr done yoga before?  I gotta do something...
  • Oh @RedBreast35 I FEEL YOU. I'm SO wiped and how on earth will I make another 20 weeks?! My hips already hurt and I'm literally exhausted.  Will be following for ideas for my non-yoga-practicing non-exercising self.

What belly band have you been using? I've hesitated to get one yet thinking it wouldn't fit right on my not-that-big bump but maybe I should go for it.

@RedBreast35 I feel the same way. I don’t know how I can fit 20 more weeks of baby in here, I feel huge sometimes. Walking is getting difficult, my hip hurt and I thinking I’m starting to get symptoms of SPD. September feels very far away.
  • @kiddiesandkittie I got this one from Amazon.  I wear it when I'm walking the dog or pretending to do housework and it does seem to help the back pain a bit.  It more just looks like something to prop my gut up on at this point, but if it helps a little, I don't care what it looks like  :p
  • @RedBreast35 @kiddiesandkitties @calliah I am right along side with you all. I am always exhausted, and my energy never really did pick up after the 1st tri. My right hip is sore/painful almost all of the time. I can't stand with all of my weight on that leg anymore. I do chiro and started massage regularly and it does give me some relief, but it never lasts long. I find my weekends are a huge improvement for my comfort level and my mood. Work is killing me right now. And it's not physical. I have a desk job. But I get home and am emotionally, physically, and mentally done for the day. My poor DH.

  • Anyone have pregnancy induced dry eyes? I honestly don’t even know if it’s that they’re dry, cause they do water a little, but at night my eyes feel on fire when I blink. When I wake up in the morning I can barely open them because it hurts and my vision is all cloudy. When I was pregnant with DS they were so sensitive to light that I had to sleep with a mask on because any hint of light even from the tv felt like I was sleeping on the surface of the sun! It didn’t hurt, but brightness was amplified.
  • @RedBreast35 ugh yes, my physical energy often feels about nil and I'm so achy. My pelvic floor aches so much more than I think it should (lol), especially later in the day, and at my last appointment I asked about it and the woman I saw couldn't tell me enough times how normal it is but I still feel like this is way too much for being a little over halfway along. It is starting to interfere with sleeping (getting to sleep in particular) and I really wonder what the 3rd tri will bring.
  • @RedBreast35 Any kind of prenatal yoga will be safe, as will most poses in the beginner yoga classes (don’t do ANY closed twists though, and they generally don’t want you lying on your back at this point - you can used a rolled up towel or wedge to make you slant to one side). I actually recommend going to a studio (instead of youtube) and going to a beginner or special prenatal class so you can get help from the teachers in making sure you are doing the poses correctly. The owner of my studio told me during teacher training they actually teach pregnancy modifications.

Yin (or the super deep stretching yoga) is also great, but it might help to know a bit of the poses before you jump right into that.
  • @RedBreast35 thank you so much for asking, I haven't had any more pains like that again... my stomach has been mildly upset the last two days so I am inclined to think that it could have been related to that. I can still feel the babe kickin around in there which has me less worried. Thank you again for checking in, so sweet of you!  I feel you on the exhaustion and the idk how my body is going to keep making room for this feelings... I wish I had tips, other than to rest when you can.

  • @calliah @kiddiesandkitties the hip pain is getting to me this week I was like already? Any ideas on stretches?
  • calliahcalliah member
@phillyftm I’ve been thinking of trying pigeon pose but I don’t know if I could get back up. Lol. Otherwise when it freezes up, my best bet is bending over until it stops hurting. I’ve been looking into chiropractors this week. I feel like my SI joint is screwed up.
  • @MsBeachNJ I'm so glad it seemed to be a one time thing!
@lillywonderland I was afraid someone who knows yoga would say that I should go to a studio  ;)  For some reason, I can't handle an entire yoga workout.  I get distracted and give up.  But (when in shape) I could go out and run for 1.5 hours and love every second of it... I may just look around for some hip/core/back stretches that are pregnancy safe!
  • @RedBreast35 It’s totally different in studio. Personally, I HATE doing yoga at home because I get distracted. But in studio? I can do back to back 1hr classes no problem!! (Also, running for 1.5 hours is glorious - you cover so much ground! And there’s so much to look at!!)

Cat/Cow is a good tummy/back stretch and pigeon is good for your hips. Both are safe in PG!
  • Why are my feet sweating so much? It is not hot in here. Is this a thing? Yuck.
  • Either I strained too much when I was dry heaving or the 2nd Tri bloody noses have arrived, but either way, I am not amused.

  • The bloody noses have arrived for me as well.
  • @kiddiesandkitties - everything is a pregnancy symptom! Bodies are so incredibly weird and I have never had so many weird symptoms as when I’ve been pregnant!

  • RLP is no joke lately. Any sudden movements feel like I’m getting stabbed in the ovary! I don’t remember it being this bad with DS 😩
  • The pregnancy dreams are killing me lately. Morbid, creepy, sad, stressful. I wake up either terrified or sobbing and then need time to calm myself before falling back asleep.

@nda_roxybabe I was just coming on to say the same thing. Mine have been extremely upsetting lately. It is actually making me really concerned for my mental health. My dreams are centering on me being a bad person and I go the rest of the day feeling like I've done something wrong. Ugh. Pregnancy is tough.

I read that magnesium might help. I need to order some today to try.

  • @kgg2241 Oh, thats awful! I have natural calm I take, but haven't consistently lately. Maybe I'll start it up.

  • In the last week I feel like I went from "Awww, cute little baby bump that looks like you ate a burrito and pizza for lunch" to "OMG YOU GARGANTUAN! ARE YOU 9 MONTHS ALREADY?!?!?!" I'm sure it's from all the traveling and stress and such lately, but I can physically feel all of the swelling in my hands, feet, legs, face, etc. and it is noooot fun! Hopefully chugging some water all day and working out the next couple of days will help it subside because at 5 months I should not feel this bloated yet...

  • I jinxed it. I started getting major sciatic pain when I try to do any kind of hiking or speed walking. Luckily ok on strolls. Annoyed as I never have trouble getting into my chiro so I cancelled my appt 2 days ago when something else came up... Now I can't get in for 2 weeks  :'(
  • Anyone have any recs for restless legs? It has been certain sporadic since early in my pregnancy but now it’s a fairly regular thing. I don’t just get it when I sleep, it can be if I’m on the train coming home or relaxing on the couch. I think MH believes I am insane because I just shimmy my legs like a mad person trying to get it to stop.
  • @cmdesigner I used to get restless legs really bad when I was little. The doctor told my mom to elevate my legs on top of a stack of 2 pillows. To this day it is the only thing that works for me
  • @cmdesigner any chance your iron is low? Sometimes that can lead to worsening of RLS, but pregnancy can bring it on as well. I hear it is extremely uncomfortable-I’m sorry!
  • @blitzybee ooooh - I have had terrible RLS lately and didn't even think that it could be iron-related. My MW told me something to get for iron supplement, and obviously now I forget.  I think it was called Floradix?  I'll probably order some today so can report back soon!
  • @blitzybee My iron was in good range during my last check up (I get my bloodwork done a few times a year for my bariatric surgery maintenance) and I was having minor RLS then. My prenatal has 18mg of iron in it as well. I'll have them run basic bloodwork at my next appointment to check it out, though. Thanks!
  • TMI Alert: I got out of bed and immediately started gagging so I ran to the bathroom to try to pee first and didn’t make it before I had to puke so I full on peed myself. Thankfully I was only in underwear and have tile flooring 🤦🏻‍♀️
