Re: Newbie Thread w/o 4/29
I've been taking the pee-strip ovulation tests in connection with tracking my temp and cycle on an ovulation app. I've got my first OB-GYN appt set to make sure there are no health issues to take into account and I am very excited that my husband and I have reached this point after 10 years together.
I know from watching friends struggle with fertility, and knowing my own tendency to be critical of myself, that it can get emotionally draining. I am working to plan positive things on top of trying for a baby, and know I'll have to focus on not getting too hard on myself.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone on the forum and am so glad there is a community I can learn from!

It's been a long road! Many ups and downs but I'm feeling hopeful lately. I have a DR AP next wk and we're going to do some testing once n for all but after speaking w nurse on phone, she suggested they may put me on progesterone following O. I use opks , I dont temp bc it would drive me nuts I already obsess enough as it is! I've also made dietary changes and use fertility herbs/ fertile detox supplements for some time now.
This yr will be 7yrs married! I'm an xray tech n an inspiring interior designer, just finished schooling. Im ready for next chapter in life!
@_blackwidow_ welcome! N welcome to TTC! Wish you the best if luck, you are already taking the right steps like opks and temping, which some ppl dont figure out until few months in. It sounds like you know your stuff.. In my experience I was naiive as I didn't really know many who struggled with fertility, only had heard the good stories. *possible trigger* So when I got bfp 1st real try I was like that was easy ! Told hubby and parents right away then Mc at 6 wks. Since then its been a very difficult and long road. & now I realise how hard ttc can be! If course, thats when you hear all the stories of ppl. Ttc and losses you nvr heard b4. I dno why its all so taboo and not really talked about. But it certainly helps being part of a community of women who are there for you! All that being said, I hope this is a smooth and easy road for you wishing you the best of luck!!!
How many months have you been TTC?: About to start month 4.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: I think we're doing almost everything we can: OPTs, PNV, tracking BBT and CM on fertility friend.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): We've been married 6 years and have 2 dogs and 2 cats.
I work in the mental health field, specifically with families of children with terminal and/or chronic illnesses. It can be a very emotionally- taxing job, and definitely a factor in why we've just started TTC. My husband recently had a career shift, so he's starting over in a lot of ways. It's a positive thing for us, overall, but still a transition, which is never easy.
Additionally, my husband has a degenerative neuromuscular condition. He's very functional, and just needs some accommodations at times. Unfortunately his condition is genetic, so that has also been something we've had to explore in making the decision to try for a baby. Thankfully we've been able to get some good information about what this would mean for any future children, which is helpful. (I am happy to share more specifics about this, but just trying to keep the intro short!)
In terms of hobbies, I love dance and doing dog agility with my younger dog. My husband is into tabletop gaming. Sometimes I join him in the nerding-out.
@valgal90 and @_blackwidow_ , thanks for sharing a little of your stories as well! I'm excited to have a community to be involved with through this process. While we haven't been actively trying very long, I've wished we could have a baby for quite a while, and have felt really isolated in my family and among my peer group. While I hope none of our stays here are long, I appreciate the support and look forward to getting to know everyone better.
Welcome @shoogapoff ! Sounds like you have a fun house full with 2 cats and dogs! I wish I could have that! lol. I used to have 2 cats once upon a time. Unfortunately they are gone now
But I would LOVE a cat or dog! Unfortunately, we don't have time for a dog , as they are pretty needy.. we are not home enough. Hubby is a real esate agent and works for coca cola . And I work at 3 diff facilities, so I do weird hours. But a cat would be great at least they're self-sufficient! But DH really doesn't want a cat, he's afraid they will scratch up our furniture. SMH. So that leaves me with a lonely house. No cats. No dogs. No babies..
..Lol. BUT it's ok. Our time will come! Hopefully for baby. If not then a dog. If not that, then a cat. (You get the picture
.. eventually he'll cave in somewhere. I say this light heartedly. . I am feeling optimistic lately.
GOOD LUCK LADIES. Where are you at in cycle. Currently in FW for me.. Opks been getting darker so I'm expecting peak tonight or tmro. FX
I'm on CD 6, and I usually ovulate around day 11 or 12, so I'll start taking OPKs soon. I buy the cheapies online so I don't feel guilty starting to test a little early. FX for you!

How many months have you been TTC?: This is month/cycle 1. I had my Paragard IUD removed right before ovulation so I highly doubt any results this thing around, but it’s been good to get back into the habit of tracking.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: I got back into temping at the beginning of this cycle and using opks.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): Two boys turning 6 and 4 in the next two months. One super cute kitty, our favorite little trash gremlin, who adopted us this past winter (see avatar pic).
How many months have you been TTC?: This is our 4th month trying. (been trying since February)
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: We have been tracking my cycle with the P tracker app, which I have been using for many years now. I had my IUD (Mirena) removed the beginning of January. We have been trying to have sex twice a day at least every other day during my "fertile window" according to my app. We got a faint positive line on our second try but I ended up getting my AF later that week (was told by OB that my gCH levels were too low to tell that Monday and after I got my AF that Friday morning they re drew my blood and said nothing was detected any longer. After being bummed out for a few weeks we were optimistic about try 3 but again nothing. This time we were not as active or consistent in TTC (a week and 1/2 ago) but all this past week I've notice slight changes in myself (sore breast, slight cramps the past couple days, some heartburn, and mood swings, bloating and ect). AF is 6 days away.
