We finally told my parents yesterday. We had invited them over for dinner and wrote up a menu for the occasion with baby back ribs, baby carrot and baby corn stir fry, with a cheese course (babybel and baby Brie). My dad was the first one to read it over and jokingly asked us if we had something to tell them, and when we didn’t answer both my mom and dad reread the menu and burst out crying. They are so excited
When do you plan to announce to family/friends? I told my teaching partner at work and the paraprofessional that we share since I kept having to borrow her to go to the bathroom. We’re telling our parents at Easter (8 weeks) and the extended family around Mother’s Day (like 11 weeks)
When do you plan to announce at work? I had to tell my principal because she wanted me to go to restraint training and that wasn’t happening at 7 weeks pregnant.
Any clever announcement ideas? We’re putting a note in an egg as part of the Easter baskets for our parents. For work I’m bringing in donuts and saying “eat up! Mommy doesn’t want to be the only one with a belly!” And for my extended family I’m telling them through a board game because we love board games.
Any worries about how certain family members may react to the news? Well my mom doesn’t know that my IUD came out in November because she can me a little overbearing..
My mom is so excited that she bought the personalized m&ms for Easter for me. I wanted pacifiers and the due date but she got baby feet instead on accident, oh well still cute! She added purple in because she thought just pink and blue was too obvious but I’m thinking it’s gonna be obvious right away anyway when people see baby feet on an m&m hahaha
Told the staff at our faculty meeting yesterday and my class! I’m really starting to show and am running out of ways to hide. We are allowed to wear school t shirts a lot and I haven’t been able to because they are fitted so...I decided to go ahead and share! The kids were sooo cute! Lol we played hangman and the phrase was Guess who’s having a baby? It took them forever to guess me! Lol their first guess was my daughter! She’s in high school so I guess they thought she made more sense than me! 😂
I totally said I wasn't doing an announcement but now I'm sort of considering putting my son in a big brother t-shirt for easter. I'll probably chicken out because I don't like attention haha.
We told someone about our fourth and they asked sarcastically if we understood what caused pregnancy. My DH and I figured this would be some folks' reaction because four kids is too many for a lot of people. As for telling family, we are waiting till the first ultrasound so we know how many are in the oven (since we had twins last time). Also, my sister-in-law just announced she is pregnant. I don't feel very rushed to tell anyone.
@gapmom2019 your kids reaction is great! I don’t think mine are going to be very surprised... they’re all guessing it already. 😩 I won’t officially announce it until my first 2 appointments are out of the way.
We're officially announcing on Easter. We had this made on Etsy and printed it out for DS to hold. My two dogs are also in the background with bunny ears on It's super cute and we just finished making the final picture last night. I am so excited!
I know it's a personal decision but I noticed a lot of people on social media are announcing around 16 weeks.. I always figured 12 but then 2nd trimester is 14... What week are you guys waiting for?
I did 12 weeks last time and probably will again this time. I'm impatient and we already took announcement pictures with my son, so I cant wait to share them.
@swedishmeatball I actually waited until 24 weeks with my first pregnancy but it was high risk so I was very nervous about doing it too early. This time if I do announce on social media I am thinking I may wait until our 20 week ultrasound. The 12 week announcements are very exciting though and I love seeing them pop up on my feeds!
@swedishmeatball with our first we announced at 12 weeks. With #2, I had to take progesterone and it made me nervous so we waited until after we'd seen the NT ultrasound at 14 weeks. This is #3 and I know I'm going to get negative responses from some family/ friends. I might be petty, but i don't think we'll announce on social media... they can find out when they notice or when they see me holding a baby.
Any Easter announcements yesterday/over the weekend? @kopp5988 how did your m&ms go?
I wouldn't call what we did announcing, but we did let the rest of our family know that I'm expecting yesterday and I will probably not hide it anymore, except at work for another couple weeks. Now my mom can quit bugging me for when she can tell all her friends... lol.
We put an egg in our parents Easter baskets. Inside it said “we’re egg-specking! Baby Norman hatching 11/28” this was my moms face 😂 we only told our immediate family (moms and dads) but this reaction was priceless!
Told the Easter brunch family yesterday, told them the real reason we were late to brunch was because we had to pull over and puke 😂 and my aunt yelled, BECAUSE YOU'RE PREGNANT?! Haha that was fun, everyone was super excited!
@creamcheeseplease the m&ms went over great! I put them out in little bowls when everyone was sitting in the living room having appetizers - one bowl on the main table and one on a sideboard that was next to my aunt because I knew she would look down at them as soon as I did. She picked up a few looked at me and my mom and started doing a little dance and then started yelling at everyone to “eat the m&ms!”, “everyone have an m&m they’re so good!”. My grandma stared crying. It will be her third great grandchild but the other two live on the other coast and Midwest so she’s only seen them once since they were born last summer.
I told my boss and coworkers early as well as parents and siblings. After our first ultrasound we told some other friends. On Easter I posted this picture on FB.
We told immediate family about a week after we found out. My MIL was especially fun to tell since it's her first grandchild and I'm not sure my husband's sister plans to have kids. I also have told a few close friends.
I'm planning to tell my boss after our 13 week appointment next Friday.
We will definitely do a SM post. Long story, but my husband's father passed away July 2017. He had ALS and it was obviously pretty tough on our family but he was truly amazing and got super into fundraising after he was diagnosed. We had a logo made that featured a silhouette of him and his sweet dog and made shirts, triathlon jerseys, coffee cups, etc with the logo. Our friends are super familiar with our 'team' so we just ordered a onesie with the logo and will share that with a post announcing the newest member of our team in the week or so after our appointment after we call some other extended family members.
We told the grandparents right away and let in some close friends to our secret, but waited until after the 1st Trimester Screen (this morning) to tell social media.
I told my boss a couple of weeks ago as a heads-up, but my colleagues won’t know for a couple more weeks.
here is what we posted on FB and Instagram- we had a little fun with it since this is baby #3 and we have one boy and one girl:
These were our announcement pictures from earlier this week! No one knew about our IVF journey so I made a long post about our struggles and our determination and how our dreams finally came true. The most amazing thing had been how many people reached out to us to share similar stories or let us know how inspiring our determination was ❤ (And anyone who knows me knows I am a total dog mom, so there will definitely be a war for my attentions.)
We told our immediate family a couple weeks after we found out and then on Easter we posted these pictures! Of course we worried about telling people too early (I was 8 weeks when we posted) but we wanted to share our excitement so bad and had been TTC for almost 3 years ♥️ I’m almost 11 weeks now and I’m very happy with our decision 😊
We shared this over the weekend. Since I went into more above, I won't explain too deeply but Rick was my husband's Dad who passed away due to ALS in July '17. That's his silhouette in the logo along with his sweet dog Mango. I'll be 15 weeks Wednesday...so happy to have this out there!
We finally told our son yesterday (the most important one to find out!!! 🖤).
We got a giant gift bag and put a baby-shaped mylar balloon that popped up when he opened it (he didn't understand quite yet) and inside was a t-shirt that said Big Brother Finally, the "New Baby" Berenstain Bears book as well as my last Sono with a dandelion stem attached saying your wish came true. Last week walking to school he wished for a baby on a dandelion. He is over the moon and so are we. That's it for announcing for us!!! 🌷💞
I officially announced today. It wasn't anything big but I'm on the leadership team for my MOPs group and it's always fun to see everyone announce and to celebrate with them. *TW this announcement was very special to the group because a lot of those ladies were there for me while I went through my recent loss. So they all came up and hugged and we all cried. Tw*
I also told my kids they can talk about the baby in mommy's tummy now. 😂

@gapmom2019 how funny they guessed your daughter!
@kopp5988 those M&Ms are so cute! I like the purple.

We shared on social media a week ago! It feels good to not have to bite my tongue when talking to others since we're out completely now.

We announce on Facebook yesterday so we are officially out to everyone
