Re: Group 2 Check In (July 9-16) week of 4/22

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 28 weeks + 5 days / due July 10th (although OB keeps fluctuating it between 9th-12th??)

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant 🍆

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink!

Upcoming Appointments: starting my 2 week period so going back May 3

How are you feeling?: overall pretty good! Just uncomfortable mostly. Awaiting my glucose test results anxiously.

Rants/Raves:  Raves - we had a great Easter weekend full of celebrating with family. Rants - maybe TMI, but butt sweats?! I am wearing a lot of dresses now that the weather is nice because they are most comfortable, but yesterday I could feel the sweat dripping down my legs and my underwear was soaked with sweat. Soooooo grossed out by myself and so uncomfortable. I hate to sweat.

    Questions: nada

GTKY: What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival?

I’ve been super stoked to shop for girl’s clothes after almost 3 years of non-stop boy. Also for whatever reason swaddle blankets make my heart happy. And buying a double stroller was fun!

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink

Upcoming Appointments: I will be starting every 2 weeks on May 3rd

How are you feeling?: Good overall.

Rants/Raves:  I wasn't feeling baby move a whole lot on Saturday and almost took myself to L+D but waited it out. Yesterday and today she has been moving non-stop so I am feeling much better.

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? Not a whole lot. With it being our second girl, I don't need much so its hard to allow myself to go buy things just for the sake of doing so. I think I may splurge on some wall art for her room to help me get excited.

Rants/Raves:  I’m too tired to think of any LOL

    Questions:

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? I think the crib & the car seat. It just seems so real looking in her room!!

    Questions:

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? Excited about my new Eddy Baur backpack diaper bag! Especially since I found it really cheap at a consignment store. And excited about all the cute boy clothes. Feels so weird buying boy stuff!

Rants/Raves:  had a great Easter with the family

    Questions: nope

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? I ordered her name in wooden letters from Etsy, and I can’t wait to paint it and put it over the crib!

Baby is the size of a(n):  eggplant

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): pink

    Upcoming Appointments: 4/29

How are you feeling?: tired. I thought I slept good last night, but my exhaustion level indicates otherwise

Rants/Raves:  kick counts are stressing me out.

Questions: Any suggestions on what constitutes an emergency? I'm definitely not going to the ER just to look into it. I'm just not that kind of person .

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? It's not that I'm not excited for her to come, but the stuff we've gotten hasn't been what makes me excited. I've loved seeing her clothes in the closet. I was excited about the cloth diapers we got, but other than that it's been just stuff. Doesn't help that werew waiting until after the shower to get most of her stuff.

Baby is the size of a(n): Eggplant
Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink
Upcoming Appointments: Group appointment tomorrow and then doing our hospital tour next week.
How are you feeling?: Still good overall. Physical activity is getting progressively harder and I'm starting to have some pelvic pain but otherwise nothing too major.
Rants/Raves: We're leaving on Thursday for a long weekend in Vegas. Looking forward to being able to lay by the pool, eat some good food, and hang out with DH and our friends. This is our last big trip before baby so I'm really excited about it!
    Questions:
GTKY: I've been trying not to buy to much since my MIL will scold me for buying things ahead of my showers but I bought the cutest little pair of shoes and a dress for her online a few weeks ago. They're just so tiny and it's crazy to think how soon there will be an actual baby here to wear them!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: July 16, 28 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): Eggplant

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): blue

    Upcoming Appointments: next week, prenatal

How are you feeling?: good, just having a hard time sleeping

Rants/Raves: We are having a very difficult time with my in laws. DH doesn't want to see them at all. I have decided to stay out of it, but it is still hard dealing with occasional nastiness from them or other family members. And of course they are making this all about them. I just want to focus on our baby coming and ignore the rest.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? Probably our crib, but I love all the little clothes too <3

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 29 weeks

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): green

Rants/Raves:  we had loads of friends over to the new house for Easter and it was just lovely! I'm feeling fairly over pregnancy and work though - maternity leave is sounding better and better.

Questions: Any second time moms in this group who have done a L&D refresher kind of class? I can't decide if it's worth the time or not...

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? A house? Idk... I'm a shopper but honestly the baby still feels kind of vague if that makes sense? I think it might be the real down side to being team green.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7/12, 28w3d

Baby is the size of a(n): Nintendo

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Green

    Questions:

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival? The crib made me go oh s*** it's real. Nothing we've gotten has really excited me yet. Have my shower next weekend and one DH's work is nice enough to throw in June. Will be cutting it close on buying any necessities we don't get, but we'll make it work.

Baby is the size of a(n): cottontail bunny!

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): pink

    Upcoming Appointments: next week

How are you feeling?: Feeling bigger/awkward, still having some sciatic and pubic bone pain. But generally still pretty good.

Rants/Raves: The weather is so lovely! And the contractors are making great progress on our house. It looks exactly like what I've been hoping.

    Questions:

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival?  I've done a pretty good job keeping myself from buying things until after our showers/hand-me-downs, which means we don't actually have a ton of baby stuff yet! Everything we have makes me happy though!

@cindler Are you talking about emergency in terms of kick counts? Or just in general?
  • @acgx I wasn't very clear on that, sorry. I was talking in terms of kick counts. I've basically been freaking out the last two days and I'm really fighting with myself on whether I'm being irrational or not.
  • Jinxed the s*** out of myself with the "feeling decent physically." Literally typed that and ~1 hour later I was puking and felt sick the rest of the afternoon/night...

    Upcoming Appointments: today

How are you feeling?: the usual tired and sore

Rants/Raves: I want to go back on vacation. I started back baby sitting and I'm just so over it. I'm having hip and knee pain and just can't keep up with him and then there's the cleaning up his messes and spills.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival?

I'm totally obsessed with rompers. Hev
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: July 15th / 28 wks

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out):

Upcoming Appointments: had the glucose test this week, waiting on results

How are you feeling?: Okay. My pregnancy brought back childhood asthma that I outgrew many years ago, which I was already managing since November, but it also brought back severe tree pollen allergies that I had as a child. My asthma recently flared up badly out of nowhere, and I'm just now starting to get it under control.... scary last couple of weeks.

Rants/Raves: not really a rant, but work has been pretty busy and stressful lately, and I just really wish I could have a drink at happy hour these days.

Questions:  is anyone doing labor and baby care courses online instead of at the hospital or birth center?  Am I going to lose that much by not going to an instructor led course?

GTKY: *Stolen from Group 3/4* What have you bought or been gifted so far that has made you the most excited about your baby's arrival?  Definitely the tiny clothes!  It makes it seem so real when I imagine a little baby in them.
  • @hinotes so far the big help with the classes has been the physical practice. I would say, just be sure to try the things they do. Like if they want you to practice different birthing positions, don’t be shy and physically do it. As a teacher of a very physical skill (CPR) having that muscle practice can be really valuable to see what it feels like.

Also, sorry things are stressful at work. I’ve been hitting up the froyo place instead... chocolate = life.

@cindler That's what I thought you meant. The way I understand my OBs instructions re: kick counting is if I have a big change or don't feel any movement after doing all the things they say (laying down, etc) over several hours, then I'd call her or the after hours line for advice. More that or going to L&D triage than going to the ER.

Sorry you've been stressed over this 😣
  • @hakele Thanks!

@cindler I asked my OB about kick counting at my 28 wk appt and was told not to worry about counting at all, but instead to just pay attention that I feel the baby moving at some point during the day and that the movement seems pretty consistent in general, day-to-day. If it suddenly feels like the baby isn't moving at all or is extremely over-active, I was told to call the doctor.  Of course, if you're worried, you should probably check it out regardless.
  • Thanks, all, for the words of encouragement and just generally listening to my worry.  I was feeling her off and on throughout the day, and was getting the kicks (just light kicks), so I decided to wait it out.  Yesterday, she was her normal self.  I think I noticed what I thought was a change/decrease in movement and my hormones took over from there.  I plan to talk with my Dr. at my appointment on Monday, but for now, my fears have subsided.
