Anyone else dealt with with carpal tunnel, either this pregnancy or during a previous pregnancy - and if so, any great tips or tricks for dealing with it?
Backstory: woke up this morning and all my extremities were aching - eventually most of it subsided except my left wrist, which has become more tender / painful throughout the day. My fingers are sometimes a bit tingly too. So I’m guessing it’s carpal tunnel. I’m about to start by icing it to see if that helps...
My Dr said nosebleeds are normal during pregnancy but how normal is normal? Having nosebleeds for 3 days now. Seriously thinking of calling them again but the no. of holds I need to get through just annoys me right now. Anyone has any ideas on how to make it stop?
@aecm I have not had it but others I know had to get wrist braces that they sleep in (or in more severe cases wear all the time) but the upside is it usually resolves after birth... I hope the ice helped

@aecm I've dealt with it during all of my pregnancies. For your wrists, get braces for sleeping. In addition to that, I have to roll from side to side at night about every 45min to an hour otherwise my hands fall asleep. Last pregnancy, it was so bad that even with the braces and rolling, there were a few times that my hands were numb for 4 hours after I got up. Icing has never helped. Its not inflammation of the muscles per se, its usually from fluid build up (causing swelling) that is pushing against the nerves. If your wrists start going numb while doing normal tasks (mine now go numb if I use the computer mouse for too long), then you may need to start wearing them during the day as well.
This pregnancy, my legs have started going numb because of it as well. That is new. There arent braces to help with that one. Rolling every 45 minutes or so helps and usually the "pain" of them/my wrists going numb wakes me up around that time anyways.
My doctor also recommended reducing sodium and drinking more plain water since that should theoretically help reduce the fluid retention. If that is an option for you, it may help. I cant do that because my heart condition...my heart dude actually wants me to add salt to everything and I already drink a gallon a day minimum.
Anybody else want to tell the last poster on the US thread there are lots of good reasons to not go to 9/9 if she's due 8/24? I'm not sure why but her post is making me feel b*tchy.
@mrosek91 you mean the person who has only one post and included all of her identifying information in a public forum? The "because why not" is particularly rage/eye-roll inducing. I get the feeling it is a troll.

@mrosek91@Avrilmai@peachy0709 I hadn't checked the ultrasound thread in a while but got snarkily curious and am I crazy or is that ultrasound dated on 11/17/2018...?
EDIT--nevermind, the date is in the top corner--that date is probably LMP. STILL a baffling post!
@peachy0709 Well, she's not even 21 so she probably has more in common with six year olds than with me. I'm an 80 year old lady trapped in a 37 year old body. GET OFF MY LAWN!
@Avrilmai@peachy0709@cato99@Twinkiedoll thank you for validating my rage. @Twinkiedoll I've been told I'm an 80 year old in a young body since I was a teenager, so we can curmudgeonly yell at them to get off our forum together.
She probably doesn't know that she doesn't have a choice in when the baby will be born. They come when they are ready or when the doctor schedules a CS. Even a scheduled induction doesn't guarengua that date...dd1 was born 2 days after I was induced lol.
I'll never understand these one off posters. I'm also an 80 year old.
@peachy0709 My husband is a fun-loving social butterfly. We balance each other out. If it weren't for him, I'd be a hermit who does nothing but watch 1-hour crime procedurals while playing 8 variations of Candy Crush. And if it weren't for me, DH would probably still be in the NY club scene. DH calls me Grandma whenever I whine about crowds, waiting in line, teenagers, or whatever the latest trend is. I also enjoy (online) couponing and bargain hunting like I'm living in wartime. No shame.
@sourlemon it's not even that we can't pick the date. (1) I've never met a pregnant woman who wasn't 100% ready to not be pregnant anymore by the time their due date comes (2) if she goes to 9/9 like she wants she'll be 16 days overdue, no doctor will let her go that long. But I'm really getting way more upset by this than is rational. Probably some misplaced feelings over some of the other stressors in my life
@mrosek91 I will say I am probably the one odd-ball who was still perfectly content to be pregnant after my EDD and was in no rush to get the kid out. We will see if I still feel the same way with this pregnancy. That being said no way would I want to push my delivery date that far past my EDD. I thought that post was BSC.

@wabash15 really? even with the twins? You didn't just feel big, and uncomfortable, and ready to be done? With me the end was so contradictory. I felt so big and uncomfortable, and I hated the not knowing when life was going to change, I just wanted the baby to show up. But at the same time I felt so unprepared for what was about to come, I was scared for it to start. (Yes even with DS#2)
@mrosek91 with the twins I think I was in denial.... I knew they were coming soon and they weren't letting me go past 38 weeks but when they told me they needed to come out because they were too big I just freaked out, I was not ready. I wanted to stay in my pregnant bubble. With DD2 her EDD was Christmas day... I wanted her to have her own day so was in no rush to get her out... and again I was just so busy with life I was content for her to stay put.

Any thoughts on the dockAtot? I’m considering buying one I found on Facebook marketplace that’s brand new for $165... so about $40 cheaper than on their site... would love to know if people actually found them to be worth the price
@jmesue1030 I know one person who had it and loved it, that being said she used it for overnight sleep inside the pack n play which is not recommended for safe sleep. I think they look like a cozy place for supervised naps or setting baby down, but I can’t get over the price tag!
@mkrel thanks! I’m so tempted but definitely don’t want to waste my money on a pricey, unnecessary baby item... I do love how portable it is and how convenient it would be for travel. I really want a new crib (for aesthetic reasons only) and don’t know that I can justify both...
Hey ladies - so I admit I’m not a super common poster but here it goes. This is baby #3 for me. Anybody else experiencing bladder issues. Like I’m waking up in the middle of the night to change underwear because apparently my body when relaxed and sleeping on left side just lets urine out - super annoying. im probably planning to call and see if I should just try limiting liquids at a certain time of night or something to see if it helps. I just feel like my body is doing things earlier than before which I also know is common. Mostly looking for solidarity lol
@mama1824, I'm not having it that bad this pregnancy, (at least not yet) but I have had issues like that when I get a bad cough. I recommend depends, I had a very hard time getting over the mental blocks to needing them (the fact they are called adult diapers does not help, who names these things?!) But once I broke down and got them they made my nights so much better. Also helped that I could go bad to normal amounts of laundry.
@mrosek91 I’ve considered that! I do the occasional pad but then that seems to give me a rash down there which also is not pleasant.... the joys of pregnancy
@mrosek91 TBH I’m hoping this little dude makes his exit the last week of July. DS2 was due 8.15 (current due date 8.12), born 7.24, and he was 9 lb 4 oz and all kinds of healthy. I don’t know why anyone would want to go over?!?
@mama1824 I haven’t had that particular issue but total solidarity on things starting to ~happen~ earlier in subsequent pregnancies! This is only my second and I’m like WHAT IS THIS WHY AM I SORE AND STIFF WHY HAVE U BETRAYED ME PELVIS.
This may be too optimistic a suggestion, but would kegels help...? They certainly wouldn’t hurt!
@mama1824 No advice on the bladder leakage, but several pad brands give me a rash too. Seventh generation pads don't give me a rash, and they are quite absorbent!
Also I'm 100% an old lady at heart and getting grouchier by the day. So, add me to the club.
Oo yay! I just caught up on this thread.....and I'm so excited that I'm not the only one annoyed/weirded out by that rando! Yay! Man... I like you ladies haha. Make me feel...like I'm not a weirdo who over analyzes things...
@jmesue1030, the dockatot scares me too much and looks so unsafe so I decided against it and on a boppy lounger instead. I honestly think it’ll be next to go. Also it’s not even sold in Canada because it doesn’t pass safety guidelines and I can even barely find it in the Netherlands.
I just want to say I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH: I vacillate - wildly and unpredictably - between 80 y.o. curmudgeon and want-to-be-clubber. On many subjects I'm irrationally inflexible and love to be grumpy just for the sake of being grumpy ... buuuuuut I'm hyper-social and secretly die every moment that my people batteries get below 50% (yeah, I'm one of those people who fill up at 1/2 tank).
@mama1824 - I have recently noticed (currently baking #2) that I appear to have "leaked" a little during my mid-slumber bathroom breaks ... maybe I should switch and use some of that case of Depends I bought with DD1 but never used
@AKuzReve - Boppy Loungers are heaven-sent. I did use them for short-naps with DD1 (before we got into a more discernible pattern/more apparent sleep-cues were present) ... and later, modified tummy time. I am super pumped about having one from the beginning this go-round. I didn't know about them until she had started daycare and then I was super sad I didn't have it because once I got it - my life changed for the better, 1,000%!

I often forget whether I've taken my prenatal vitamin for the day. Anyone else deal with this? Is it better to assume I've taken it and possibly skip a day, or risk double-dosing on vitamins for the day.
Minor issue, I know. But it drives me crazy at least twice a week.
@Twinkiedoll I suggest a pill minder. I need to take thyroid medicine first thing every morning, and then the prenatals at night, and I was awful about remembering. So I got a pill minder with am/pm sections, and I keep it on my nightstand. Now I rarely forget. They do also sell them in single if you only have to take once a day.
@MamaK225 +1 for the boppy lounger!! We got one when my son was 2/12ish-3 months and it was amazing. I’m so excited to have it from the beginning with this baby. We brought that thing everywhere and it was so nice for traveling to other people’s houses who didn’t have kids
@Twinkiedoll I agree - try to get a pill box to help. I’m assuming if you take it twice you just pee out extra vitamins you’re getting BUT that’s just an assumption. Maybe ask Obgyn and see what their take is.
sidenote: I also take thyroid in morning - it’s a lot to remember but the pill box is a great tool
@Twinkiedoll - there’s not much risk in “double dosing” your prenatal vitamin. You’ll pee out the extra water soluble vitamins (Bs and C), and it would take a lot more than a couple days worth of double dosing to cause some kind of vitamin-overdose for the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K). And yeah, investing in a pill box like everyone else is suggesting would probably help
I find when it comes to taking pills it's best to keep them where you intend to take them. So if you want to take them at lunch, keep them where you eat lunch. Want to take them first thing in the morning, put them on your nightstand with a cup of water or by your toothbrush or something.
