    @mkrel Not quite the same, but we’re using a crib given to us by friends. What does the google say the concern is with a used crib?

    @mkrel I personally have not bought one used. But that's not to say I wouldn't. I'd first check for recalls (obviously.) And then ask the seller if you can take it apart yourself so that you can see it put all together to check for stability, cracks, missing piecws, and just any overall red flags. Also taking it apart yourself will help you to know how to out it together

    @heml mostly that you don't know when it was made so is it up to current safety standards.  Also as @Beauxbaton mentioned, missing pieces, chipped paint, etc. can be hazards.  I feel like if we look at it and it isn't damaged and they can tell us when they purchased it, there shouldn't be any issues though.

    @mkrel My general rule is: if my kid is going to spend a lot of time in it, then it's worth it to me to just buy it new.  So we got a new stroller, car seat, PnP, and crib.  Sleep sacks, swing, exersaucer, jumper, etc. we bought used. 

    That being said, I think they say not to buy a used crib because it may not be up to the current safety standards.  If you can confirm what model it is (and thus determine what year it was made) and inspect it carefully for hazards, it should be okay?

    @mkrel DS1 had a used crib I bought at a second hand store and it was just fine. It was put together when I purchased it so I could tell it was stable. DS2 got a new crib (courtesy of his grandma) which we will be using for DS3 after it spent 5 years in the attic. It has a slight split/crack in one of the spindles, but it’s not structural and still really sturdy, so it’s pretty much like he has a second hand crib also. So the middle child got the best deal... I’ll remind him of that later in life 😂😂.

    @Twinkiedoll there wouldn’t be any pressure. If i mentioned it to my dad at all, I know he would honor my wishes and quietly be crushed. **TW**i would just regret refusing to let him hold her especially if treatments don’t work and he never got to hold her **end TW. Also, if you FIL was able to get it then hopefully my dad can too.

    @aecm oh good!  Maybe he’s had it recently. I’ll have to ask. And that’s a relief about contact time too. 

    @emqbee is it tightening and then releasing?  Mine gets tight in the early evening and stays that way.

    @sourlemon I think I’m good and hydrated. And I don’t think I’ve overdone anything...I occasionally lift more than I should but it’s nothing out of the ordinary for me. 

    @purplg8r it does release. It tightens up usually for a minute-ish and then it goes away. And it’s at random times. When I asked the MW about it she asked if there was a pattern and there’s not really like today it was around 10am or so and sometimes it’s in the evenings when I’ve gotten home from work. But I’m the evenings my whole belly feels tighter in general but nothing bad-I just feel pregnant and expanded. 

    I guess it’s just one of those quirky things...like the fact that I’m still throwing up every morning!! Despite being 22+2 and carrying a singleton.... if it ever becomes alarming I’ll call the on-call MW and go from there on a ER visit. I did consult Dr Google about Braxton Hicks and the description matched pretty well.

    @purplg8r If he is unable to get the vaccine are there other precautions that could be taken? I think about when my brother was in NICU and we had to scrub down to the elbow and wear gowns & masks (that was probably more for everyday germs, but maybe it would provide some protection?). I am all about vaccines, but if I was in your shoes I couldn’t deny my dad holding the baby.

    Sorry if this is TMI, but for you ladies who wax, have you kept up your regular waxing schedule? I haven't since finding out I was pregnant, mostly because I was so nauseous in the first trimester, and EVERYTHING was making it worse -- didn't really want to be on the table and have to be like, 'scuse me one sec while I puke. Now that I'm feeling better though, thinking about booking an appointment, but have also heard waxing while pregnant is terrible and much more painful. Thoughts?

    @purplg8r I totally get it.  Because my FIL is immune compromised, the idea of wearing gloves and a surgical mask wouldn't be a big ask.  He's used to it, and wears a mask when he's in crowded public spaces, airplanes, etc.  He knows it's for his benefit as much as others.  Hopefully, if it comes to it, your father will feel the same way.

    @mkrel Not me personally (FTM) but I know many people that have purchased used cribs with no issues.

    @lovelikestardust I’ll agree, hurts about the same. Put it off for a while til I wasn’t completely debilitated by the nausea but back at it and I dint notice a difference

    @purplg8r If it were me, I would make an exception for your dad. His cancer treatments put him in a vulnerable position, too. I see it as he also is like an infant that is more prone to infection so he I s likely already taking his own precautions to avoid illness. When I was doing chemo meds, I only had to avoid live vaccines. That included being around people who had them recently. Depending on your dad’s schedule & the baby’s schedule, for his protection, there may be weeks they can’t see each other. That’s all around tough. I hope he’s improving & the radiation is doing its job.

    @peachy0709 I was told to make sure iron source says folate and not some other iron word.. folate is easier Forbes body to digest and also the body retains more instead of just peeing it out.. another thing is prenatala that are taken only once a day will not be absorbed to full potential. It is not possible for our bodies to absorb that much vitamins at one time.. so most gets wasted.

    @lovelikestardust Agree with others that it hurts the same. I am finding I need to up my frequency though to keep up with growth. Sorry for the TMI, ha.

    @thirdtimesacharm2019 @Twinkiedoll that’s a good idea too. I know my mom has made him wear a mask sometimes for his own health so that and a gown would be an easy ask. 

    @jrm_14 I’m really hoping this round of radiation does the trick and by the time I deliver, it won’t be too much of a worry

    @denma2015 @emqbee @heml Thanks ladies! Guess I'll be calling to make an appointment. Though it now occurs to me that my regular place tends to book over a month out, so we'll see if I can get in soon. If not, I may try out a new place and see how it goes.
